Game of Thrones star Hafthor ‘The Mountain’ Bjornsson to box Irish cruiserweight in prep for Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall

STRONGMAN legend Hafthor Bjornsson will test his boxing skills against Irish cruiserweight Steven Ward this month before his Las Vegas showdown with Eddie Hall.
The Icelandic giant, 32, who holds the world record deadlift at 501kg, will take on his British rival in September, with the fight already billed as ‘the heaviest in history’.

But before that, Bjornsson – who also starred in hit TV show Game of Thrones – will clash with former WBO Intercontinental light-heavyweight champion Ward.
The Belfast brawler, 30, holds a 13-1 record and has moved up to 200lbs as a cruiserweight.
That’s still some way off 2018 World’s Strongest Man winner Bjornsson, who weights around double that and stands at 6ft 7in.
But Ward has no worries about taking on the ‘Mountain’ in Dubai on January 15th.

Ward said via British Boxing News: “I’m looking forward to doing something new.
“I’ve never been in the ring with someone this size, so it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
“Initially it was just going to be some sparring and I was going to help him out with that technical aspect, but it’s escalated from there.
“The next thing we know I’m doing an exhibition with the former World’s Strongest Man!

“I have seen him in the gym twice and he was hitting the bag and moving well for being such a big guy.
“I didn’t expect him to move as well as he did, but he told me he was a professional basketball player at one point, so that explains why he’s got some good agility.
“Training for this has been different. It’s 3 x 3 minute rounds so it hasn’t been the way it normally would be for a camp.
“But I’ve been able to eat a bit more and enjoy training a bit more, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Billy Joe Saunders insists he won’t wait ‘twiddling thumbs’ for Canelo Alvarez and demands Demetrius Andrade fight

BILLY JOE SAUNDERS has declared he won’t wait around ‘twiddling his thumbs’ for a shot at Canelo Alvarez.
And the undefeated WBO super-middleweight world champion, who boasts a 30-0 record, instead wants a fight against middleweight king Demetrius Andrade.

Saunders has long been tipped to fight Canelo, regarded as the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet.
But the Mexican, who beat Callum Smith last month, will next defend his WBC and WBA super-middleweight belts against Avni Yildirim in February.
And Saunders, who also fought last month with a win against Martin Murray, is not prepared to sit around idly in the meantime.
The 31-year-old instead wants to take on Andrade, calling on him to vacate his middleweight crown and step up to 168lb – with the winner taking on Canelo in May.

Saunders and Andrade were due to fight in October 2018 but the £1.8million payday was scrapped after the Brit tested positive for a banned substance.
But Saunders is determined for another shot at Andrade, telling IFL TV: “I’m supremely confident of knocking him out cold, very confident.
“Me and him have swapped messages on social media. I would love to give him a hiding. Eddie Hearn, let’s make the fight.
“Let’s get it on, rock and roll. Vacate the WBO 160 title, move up, tell the WBO you’re moving up and we can get it on.

“I can make 160, but why would I want to go back down to 160 when all the big money fights are at 168, and all the big talents have come up to 168?
“I don’t want to be sitting around. Let Canelo do his thing. If he’s fighting in February, I would love to fight him in May.
“But if he thinks I’m going to be sitting around until May twiddling my thumbs, he’s got another thing coming.
“I’m not going to be doing that. I’m back in the gym, I’m in shape, let’s get it on. Let’s stop beating around the bush and waiting around.
“I’m going to get sick and tired of waiting around for one of these big fights. I’m getting to the stage that if a big fight doesn’t get made then ‘thank you very much, see you later’.
“I’m in it for the big fights to see how good I am. Andrade, if he moves up, he jumps in front of everyone.
“The winner of us gets Canlo. It’s a brilliant plan, isn’t it?”

Wladimir Klitschko hints at shock ring return aged 44 four-years after retirement… but it would take £75m offer

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO has hinted he could make a sensational return to the ring – but it would take a whopping £75million payday to lure him out of retirement.
The Ukrainian, 44, retired from the sport in August 2017 – three months after suffering an 11th round TKO loss to Anthony Joshua at Wembley.

Klitschko has repeatedly teased a comeback over the last few years and recently dropped another hint he could return to the ring in a motivational Instagram post.
He said: “I’m sending nothing but positivity and prosperity to all of you, especially those tragically impacted, 2020 punched and humbled all of us to the core.
“You know what people love seeing more than anything in the world? A COMEBACK!
“I want to see you all comeback strong in 2021!”

Despite being the wrong side of 40, Dr Steelhammer reckons he can still mix it with the heavyweight division’s elite.
Last year, he said: “I still got it. Can I fight? Yes. Right now I keep my options open.
“There is going to be no comeback to come back and to break a jaw… it’s a comeback to break a record.

“Is it appealing? I would say yeah, it’s pretty cool. George Foreman did it. He was 45 I believe when he became champion, and it’s a pretty cool statement.”

In 2019, Klitschko reportedly received a £40million offer from DAZN to lace up his gloves again.
But according to the former unified heavyweight champion’s older brother, Vitali, it will take a whopping £75million offer to tempt out of retirement.
He told Abendzeitung: “When the news came that a TV channel had offered 40million dollars to Wladimir to make a comeback, I called him and asked what was going on.
“He said, “This is an offer that does not really interest me’.
“When, a few weeks later, I was talking about an 80million dollar offer, I called again and asked, “What is the situation now?”
“He said, ‘This is not an offer that changes my mind, maybe I’ll start thinking about it at 100 million dollars’.
“Never say never – and that has not changed in his status as a boxing retiree at the moment.”

Tyson Fury slams Anthony Joshua as ‘heavyweight great? My a***’ and blasts ‘you are great at looking good on pics’

TYSON FURY has blasted Anthony Joshua for thinking he could succeed in any era of the heavyweight division.
The WBA, WBO, and IBF champion took to social media where he made the bold claim as he uploaded two photos of his ripped physique.

Joshua, 31, captioned the images: “A great modern day fighter will be able to compete in any era.”
And Fury was quick to reply on the post as he referenced his defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019.
The 32-year-old said: “A great? My a***! You got ktfo by a chubby kid who had 3 weeks notice.
“You are a (sic) great at looking good on pics I must say whit whooo…..xxx.”

Before following up by tweeting: “That you out the window then chump!”
Boxing fans also shared the same view as the unbeaten WBC champion, as one user told Joshua: “You have to prove yourself as a great modern day fighter first.”
Another messaged: “You’d certainly compete, but you would lose to Ali, Holmes, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, Bowe…”
A third added: “The great Ali would knock you out without breaking a sweat calm it.”

Though some were quick to defend AJ against the two-time Ring champion, as one said: “Fury isn’t fit to lace Joshua’s boots tbh.”
Meanwhile one remarked: “Coming from the guy whose fought only two top fighters
Another quipped: “Can you two stop flirting and announce a date please.”
Both men agreed to a two-fight deal last summer with a 50-50 split for the first bout and a 60-40 split going to the winner for the rematch.
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn revealed last month that the two are close to agreeing a match-up in May or June with talks ‘progressing really well’.
Though in a blow for boxing supporters, Hearn believes that the eagerly-awaited contest is likely to take place outside of the UK due to the latest coronavirus lockdown.

Love Island star Tommy Fury insists ‘invincible’ brother Tyson will ‘easily beat’ Anthony Joshua in brutal prediction

TYSON FURY will wipe the floor with Anthony Joshua in their heavyweight title unification bout, according to the WBC king’s little brother Tommy.
Negotiations over the long-awaited Battle of Britain resumed after Joshua’s ninth-round KO win over Kubrat Pulev in December and both parties are confident an agreement will soon be reached.

And former Love Island star Tommy reckons the fight will be the ‘easiest’ of his brother’s professional career.
He told The Daily Mail: ‘It’s definitely going to be a good fight but I’ve always said, from day one, it will be his easiest fight and I have no doubt about that.
“Joshua is tailor-made for Tyson, what a great build-up it’s going to be and what a great fight.”
Fury claimed the WBC title last February with a scintillating seventh round TKO of then-champion Deontay Wilder.

But Tommy reckons Wilder – who has sought mediation to land a trilogy fight – is a far tougher opponent than AJ.
When asked if he thinks a fight with Joshua will be easier for The Gypsy King than his two encounters with Wilder, he added: “Yes, by a mile.
“Wilder would have knocked out Joshua within two or three rounds.

“I know it’s heavyweight boxing and you can never say never, but there is nothing in that fight against Joshua that worries me for Tyson, especially like the Tyson I’ve seen now.
“He can walk through walls, he’s invincible and it’s going to take some man to beat him and I haven’t seen him being born yet. To beat Tyson, you’re going to have to kill him.
“The only way you’re beating him is if you knock him out cold and he’s already been hit by the biggest puncher that’s ever lived.
“So how’s Joshua going to do it? He isn’t, so I think it’s going to be a very easy night for him.”

Tyson shares his brother’s confidence about the fight, telling Sky Sports: “I don’t think he is as good as people talk him up to be.
“And I don’t believe he believes it himself, I think he has a confidence issue after two shaky performances and boxing is all about form.
“On his last two fights he is not in form and, on my last two, I am.
“Momentum is with me and, because of that, I believe I take him out early, very early, maybe inside one or two rounds.”

White, 53, has even stated he would face the Baddest Man on the Planet for free as he spoke of his confidence that he would beat him.
Following White’s comments, a December interview of Tyson discussing the biopic made of him featuring the actor has resurfaced online.
The former heavyweight world champion praised the acting of The Dark Knight and Mortal Kombat: Legacy star, though he admitted he wasn’t a fan of the movie.
Speaking to VladTV, Tyson was asked about White’s portrayal of him, to which he said: “I don’t know.

“He did a good job, but I think the film was garbage.
“He did some things that I could assimilate that being me, but I think the movie was very bad.”
White – who boasts an impressive background in martial arts having first started Jujutsu at the age of seven – has revealed he is keen to try his hand inside the boxing ring.
And he let it be known of his desire to face Tyson – who stars alongside former professional strongman and actor Hafthor Bjornsson in their new movie ‘Desert Strike’.

Asked by VladTV about whether he would want to fight Tyson, he said: “Of course.
“To box Mike Tyson, I would love that. Are you kidding me? Why would I not do something like that.”
When asked about what the outcome of the bout would be, he added: “Of course, I think I would win.
“If [Tyson] he whooped my a**, I would [just] laugh at the whole scenario.”
Before stating: “Of course, I’ll do it for free. That’s my point man. It’s not about somebody else’s entertainment.
“That’s why I don’t post this stuff [sparring sessions] with Jon Jones or me and a lot of fighters. I don’t post that stuff. This is something that can happen next week.”

UFC star Joe Rogan was forced to change layout of his podcast studio because he was scared of ‘amped up’ Mike Tyson

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has revealed he had to change the layout of his podcast studio following his most recent interview with Mike Tyson.
Iron Mike made his second appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast three months before his exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr.

Joe Rogan made the table in his new studio wider because of Mike TysonCredit: Joe Rogan Experience

Tyson, 54, was a completely different man to the cool, calm and collected individual Rogan first interviewed in January 2019.
And the former undisputed heavyweight champion’s amped nature left Rogan wishing there was a little more space between them.
During the latest episode of his podcast, the 53-year-old said: “[Mike Tyson] is the reason why this table is this wide.
“This table, I was going to make it more narrow, I even had a smaller table that we were working with as a guide.

“We were still doing the shows back in LA, while we were setting up this studio, I did an interview with Tyson, and he was so amped up for this Roy Jones fight, that I got nervous being in the room.

“I’m like, ‘I like that extra six inches of space between us, because he was so ramped up.”
Rogan wasn’t the only person to notice Tyson’s markedly different demeanour.

He continued: “When he left, Jamie [his producer] goes ‘that’s a totally different person’.
“Because he went from being, ‘Mike Tyson, pot grower, not working out at all’, to getting ready to go to combat again.”

Tyson turned in an impressive display in his exhibition with Jones Jr, which ended in a draw.
And the boxer once known as The Baddest Man on the Planet intends to lace up his gloves again.
When asked if he will fight again, Tyson told Patrick Mouratoglou: “Yeah, absolutely. It’ll be better this time.”
He added: “It was interesting. I felt really good, I felt confident. I felt that I could do it again.”

Jake’s attempts to land a fight with The Notorious irked White, who recently accused the 23-year-old and his brother of creating a gimmick.
Logan is gutted to have been blasted by the UFC chief, saying on his podcast: “He [Jake] pissed off Dana White.
“Now Dana has grouped us together which sucks. I love Dana White, I love the UFC. Now Dana thinks we’re the same person. We’re so different.”
Logan, who is gearing up to box Floyd Mayweather next month, insists he’s a big fan of the UFC and admits he has ambitions of one day fighting in the promotion.

He added: “I love the UFC fights. I want to do a UFC fight one day. I’m not saying now, let me get my skills up.
“Dana, take me back. I’m not Jake! Please.
“Bro, he’s given me tickets to go to UFC fights before. F**k! F**k! I love Conor McGregor, dude.”
Logan may very well dream of competing in the UFC, but it’s unlikely White will ever let him set foot inside the cage.

“If people are dumb enough to spend their money watching that s**t, I don’t know what to tell you.
“Good luck to them. I care less what that guy (does). I get it. He’s trying to make some money and is doing his thing.
