Five opponents Anthony Joshua must fight before he retires aged 37 including Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Usyk

ANTHONY JOSHUA’s legacy will be defined by the fights he takes, and wins, in the next five years.
The unified heavyweight champion of the world recently revealed he intends to hang up his gloves before he hits the wrong side of 40.

The 31-year-old told Sky Sports: “Five years left and that’s basically an Olympic cycle.
“I’ve got an Olympic cycle and a little bit more left, so when you see the next Olympics happen is when I’ll be coming to the end of my career and the next generation will be coming through.”
For Joshua to be seen as a true heavyweight great, he must first see off all the remaining challengers in the division.
And there are five men, in particular, AJ has to trade leather with before it’s all said and done.

FANCY A PUNT? TODAY’S BEST ODDS BOOSTS FROM THE UK’S LEADING BOOKIES

    Tyson Fury
A fight with Tyson Fury is one British boxing fans have been itching to see for years. And thankfully, it’s in the works.
Negotiations over the unification bout resumed after Joshua knocked out Kubrat Pulev last month and are progressing well.
Apart from Deontay Wilder, who is doing his utmost to land a trilogy bout with The Gypsy King, there’s absolutely no other reason this fight shouldn’t happen next.

Let’s just hope Wilder isn’t contractually entitled to a third bout with Fury so the long-running debate over the best heavyweight in the world can be settled this year.

    Deontay Wilder
There’s simply been too much trash talk between Joshua and Wilder for this fight not to come to fruition.
The pair were at loggerheads long before Fury returned to the fray, although Wilder hasn’t mentioned his fellow Olympian for some time now.
Stylistically, Joshua vs Fury is a fascinating match-up that has all the ingredients to be an absolute fire fight.
And despite Wilder’s emphatic dethroning at the hands of Fury, there’s still some fan interest in the match-up.

    Oleksandr Usyk
Former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk might be a small heavyweight, but he still poses a sizeable task for Joshua to overcome.
The Ukrainian’s footwork and ability to cut angles, which were on full display in his decision win over Derek Chisora last November, would likely cause the often flatfooted Joshua some serious problems.
Regular observers of Usyk – the mandatory challenger for the WBO strap – are all too aware of this and are eager to see how Joshua would handle the slick operator.

Oleksandr Usyk’s footwork would be a real problem for Anthony JoshuaCredit: Mark Robinson
    Andy Ruiz Jr
Like it or not, Joshua still has a score to settle with Andy Ruiz Jr – the man responsible for handing him his first professional loss.
There was no doubting he was the better man in their rematch in Saudi Arabia in December 2019.
But with the score level at one win apiece, can he truly say he’s better than Mexico’s first heavyweight champion without sharing the ring with him again?
And let’s not forget the condition Ruiz Jr – who had clearly been enjoying the high life after his stunning upset win – came in for his second showdown with AJ.
Despite the dominant nature of his Saudi revenge job, Joshua has to run this one back again.

    Dillian Whyte
While we’re on the topic of trilogy fights, Joshua still needs to settle the score with fellow Brit Dillian Whyte.
If you count their amateur meeting in 2009, the series between Joshua and Whyte is level.
One could argue there’s no cause for a third fight as Joshua brutally knocked out The Bodysnatcher in their 2015 showdown.
But given the improvements Whyte has made since that setback, with the exception of his recent loss to Alexander Povetkin, a third fight with AJ is still marketable.
And I’m sure there’s few things Joshua would love more than to silence his domestic rival once and for all.

Logan Paul to earn 50 TIMES more than what was first claimed for Mayweather bout but says he’d have fought for FREE

LOGAN PAUL could earn 50 TIMES more than what was first claimed when he faces Floyd Mayweather – but insists he would have fought for FREE.
The YouTuber will box the American legend in February, in what is billed as a ‘special exhibition fight’.

Fellow social media personality Keemstar reported Paul, 25, would pocket $200,000 (£147,000) plus 5 per cent of pay-per-view sales.
Mayweather, 43, in contrast was said to be taking home a guaranteed $5million (£3.7m) plus 50 per cent of all PPV sales.
But Paul was quick to rubbish these reports as he addressed the purses on his channel.

He said:  “Everyone wants to know about the money for this fight. Everyone wants to know what got Floyd to take this fight, was it the money?
“I’ll say this, you’re way off with your estimates, and you’ll never know.
“I’d probably would have done this fight for free. It’s an iconic opportunity, this is some legacy s***. I’d have done this for free.
“This is the coolest thing in the world. I get to grace the ring with one of the best boxers of all time and attempt to take his head off.

“But I didn’t take it for free, I’m going to make a good amount.”

Despite not confirming a ballpark figure, his co-host Mike Majlak claimed his friend would be earning at least £10m – which is 50 times the initially suggested sum.
Majlak said: “Eight figures – you’re not going to say it, but eight figures.”
Paul made his professional debut in 2019, but lost to social media rival KSI, 27, by split-decision after a two point deduction.
Mayweather, meanwhile, hung up his gloves in 2017 after beating Conor McGregor and retiring a perfect 50-0.
He did make a return a year later, wiping out featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in a Japanese exhibition.
Mayweather is gearing up for a similar box office spectacle, which promoters predict will break the PPV record of 4.4m.

Conor McGregor explains how his boxing has improved since Floyd Mayweather fight ahead of possible Manny Pacquiao bout

CONOR McGREGOR claims his boxing technique has improved since fighting Floyd Mayweather.
The Irishman will return to action at UFC 257 on January 23 when he takes on old rival Dustin Poirier.

But he will ‘definitely’ fight boxing veteran Manny Pacquiao later this year, according to the man who manages the pair.
The UFC superstar made his ring debut in 2017, losing in ten rounds to all-time great Mayweather.
In the open workout before the fight, McGregor was ridiculed for his unusual warm up in the ring before hitting various bags for 12 rounds at the UFC’s Performance Institute in Las Vegas.
McGregor returned to his first ever boxing coaches at the Crumlin amateur club, with former Olympian Phil Sutcliffe, for the first time ever, cornering the 32-year-old in the octagon.

Before he beat Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds, McGregor was filmed back at the UFC’s PI.
There the southpaw revealed he is sitting down on his punches to generate more power, opposed to his more unconventional karate-style strikes displayed three years ago.
McGregor said: “I actually look at the Mayweather [fight], the shots on the bag and the way I was punching and I actually can’t even watch that.
“I shiver when I see the way I was throwing my punches back then. I just wasn’t sitting right on them, just floating through the air.

“Now I’m getting into positions and sitting in. Got to go through everything to learn, to truly learn. Experience is the best teacher of all.”
McGregor neglected to bring in a boxing coach before his loss to Mayweather, 43, with striking trainer Owen Roddy instead leading the camp alongside John Kavanagh.
They will now instead work alongside those who first taught McGregor how to box.
WBA welterweight championPacquiao plans to fight twice in 2021 – despite being 42 years old.
Pacquiao, who boasts a 62-7 record, has been tipped to fight McGregor and Terence Crawford.
He told the Daily Tribute: “I think I can do two fights next year.”

Anthony Joshua CANNOT fight Tyson Fury in same way as Pulev and Ruiz Jr and must be ‘physical’, warns Klitschko trainer

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been warned he cannot fight Tyson Fury in the same way he did against Andy Ruiz Jr and Kubrat Pulev.
Joshua and Fury are on course to agree a historic undisputed title decider, which would have the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO belts on the line for the first time in heavyweight history.

AJ will come into the Battle of Britain off the back of beating Andy Ruiz Jr and Kubrat Pulev.
In both wins, he showed off a reformed patient and cautious style – ditching his traditionally aggressive and rugged approach.
But trainer Johnathon Banks – who corned Wladimir Klitschko against AJ and Fury – fears those tactics will not work in the biggest fight in British boxing history.
Banks told SunSport: “The fight is huge. I don’t care where you put it but especially if you put it in the UK, that’s huge.

“Fury is the only one that’s undefeated, so you have to give the edge to the undefeated guy, I’m assuming.”But it all depends on how AJ wants to fight. He can’t fight Fury like he fought Andy Ruiz in the second fight.”And he definitely can’t fight Fury how he just fought Pulev the last fight. He has to figure out another way of fighting Fury.”If AJ was to be real physical, that would be, to me, one of the best ways to fight him.”
FANCY A PUNT? CLAIM £40 IN FREE BETS BY BETTING £10

Banks watched Joshua pick himself up off the deck and practically beat Klitschko into defeat during their 11-round classic in 2017.
But two years beforehand, Fury jabbed and moved his way to a shock upset over the legendary Ukrainian, which sparked a new dawn in the blue ribbon division.

The Gypsy King famously won the battle of mind games before facing Klitschko in the heavyweight icon’s adopted home of Germany.
Along with his dad and uncle, Fury refused to fight until a layer of foam was taken out of the ring canvas, which they believed was inserted to halt his tricky footwork.
And Klitschko, now 44, again let his head rule over his heart with Joshua, as he refused to step on the gas at Wembley after dropping the Brit in the fifth.
He opted to take a more measured approach, but it only saw him surrender the heavyweight throne and sent into retirement.
It still leaves Banks – who nows trains middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin – equally frustrated when looking back at what went wrong in their final two fights.

He said: “On the one hand I knew we had issues in the ring before Fury and I knew we’d have issues in the fight.
“And on the other hand in the AJ fight, I knew Wlad could win but I just wanted him to go for the knockout when I told him to.
“But he didn’t get him at that particular time so that was a little bit frustrating but things happen sometimes in boxing’s that out of your control.”
Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, are still in talks for a potential double header, that could total up to £500million.
But amid coronavirus restrictions in the UK, the nation’s two biggest boxing stars could be set for an away fixture.
A venue and date appears one of the biggest hurdles left to resolve, after the rivals agreed in principle a 50/50 split of the prize money.

MIKE TYSON’S podcast with Ryan Garcia descended into chaos after he FaceTimed Gervonta Davis live on the show – prompting a war of words.
Garcia, who has just knocked out Britain’s Luke Campbell but only after being floored, joined Iron Mike’s ‘Hotboxin’ podcast.

    Mike Tyson FaceTimed Gervonta Davis

Mike Tyson challenged Gervonta Davis to fight Ryan Garcia next

There, he discussed wanting to fight Davis next, which led Tyson to call Floyd Mayweather’s protege.
‘Tank’, 26, answered the call and would go on to trade verbals with Garcia, 22, as the lightweight rivals appeared to confirm they would fight each other next.
Davis said: “Mike, he got dropped by a guy that can’t even hit.”
Garcia, mocking Davis’ 5ft 6in height, replied: “Go ahead and hit me with that shot. Look at him – you gonna need a StairMaster, boy!”

Davis responded: “Mike, Mike! If I would’ve hit him, you know I would’ve killed him after that.”
After Tyson challenged the super-featherweight champion to share the ring with Garcia, Davis said: “I’m gonna fight him next. I’m gonna fight him next.”
The grudge match will need both their promoters to come together and rivalling networks to partner up.

Davis fights on Showtime under Mayweather Promotions while Garcia is Oscar De La Hoya’s new star for Golden Boy, who feature on DAZN.
Mayweather has a storied past with De La Hoya, having beaten him in 2007 selling 2.4milllion pay-per-views, a record at the time.
They have worked together since, but it did not stop De La Hoya from recently calling out his fellow legend for a rematch.
Garcia recently revealed that he spoke with PBC boss and mysterious boxing advisor Al Haymon – a long-time partner of Mayweather’s.
He told SiriusXM: “I talked to Al Haymon, but not, ‘I’mma fight Gervonta.’ It was just a simple, ‘Good luck, champ.’
“He called my advisor Lupe Valencia.”

British boxing world champion Terri Harper’s gym raided by cops over claims it was open to public despite Covid rules

BOXING champ Terri Harper had her gym raided by police after it was wrongly claimed it was open to the public.
Gyms across the nation are closed to the public following the Government’s decision to implement a third lockdown to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Professional athletes, however, are allowed to continue using them under Government guidelines.
But three members of the public were seemingly unaware of that when they informed the police that Harper’s gym in Doncaster – which is owned by her trainer Stefy Bull – was still open.
Bull was left fuming, writing on Facebook: “5 police card and 12 police offers have turned up to my gym tonight after receiving not 1, not 2 BUT THREE reports (grasses) that our gym is open to the public.
“Gym is NOT open to the public it’s open to professional boxers – under the government ruling elite athletes can train as it’s a place of work.

WBC and IBO super-featherweight queen Harper was last in action last November, successfully defending her titles against Norway’s Katharina Thanderz.
Harper stopped the challenger in the ninth round with a vicious flurry after landing a crippling body shot.
After the fight, the Doncaster destroyer said: “That has made my year.
“I knew it would be a tough night and I hurt my back hand in the fourth round so I just jabbed and moved.

“I felt more mature and maybe it was because it was my 24th birthday just last week!”
Harper currently doesn’t have a fight booked, although a rematch with former Team GB standout Natasha Jones – who she fought to a draw last summer – is still very much on her mind.
Speaking ahead of the Thanderz fight, the undefeated Harper said: “I just fight who I’m told to fight.
“Thanderz was called as mandatory so that’s it. I’ve had my eye on her a good few months, maybe a year as a potential opponent so it’s not like she’s just popped out of nowhere.
“I learnt a lot after my last fight in many ways and I do want that rematch with Tasha down the line and also unifications.”

Logan Paul calls out own BROTHER Jake for boxing fight and claims ‘he gets beat up by my sparring partners’

LOGAN PAUL has called out his own BROTHER Jake for a fight and claimed ‘he gets beat up by my sparring partners’.
The pair of social media sensations have long rivalled each other through their YouTube channels but have now crossed it over to boxing.

Jake Paul, left, pictured with big brother Logan

And despite regularly training together and showing their support when one another fights, the two are adamant they will one day share the ring.
Things have now escalated after Jake, 23, accused Logan, 25, of being a ‘faker fighter’.
And it led to the elder Paul once again challenging his little brother to prove who is the superior boxer.
Logan said on his YouTube channel: “I fully support Jake whatever drama he wants to stir or create, it really doesn’t bother me.

“Like, ‘Oh, you’re a fake boxer.’ Okay. Let’s box, because Jake is the kid that gets beat up by my sparring partners. That’s that kid.”
Logan made his professional debut in 2019, losing to internet rival KSI, 27, by split-decision after being deducted two points.
Jake on the other hand, has had two knockout wins and left ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 36, out cold and into a viral meme in November.
But, despite his losing record, Logan will face all-time great Floyd Mayweather, 43, in February.

How Logan Paul and little brother Jake compare

And Jake was left less than impressed and slammed the fight as a gimmick which he thinks will leave stain on boxing’s reputation.
He told TMZ Sports: “My brother’s f****. It’s bad for the sport, I think it’s just for clout. My brother’s a fake fighter, I’m the real fighter.”
Jake once accused his ex-partner Alissa Violet of getting together with Logan – and the brothers even made diss tracks about each other.
In one video, called ‘The Fall of Jake Paul’, Logan says: “Uh oh, that’s Alissa Violet, used to be your chick. Now she in the Logang and you know she on my… team.”
Despite the verbal warfare in 2017, the pair have since made up and Jake has helped his brother prepare to fight Mayweather.

That is despite Logan astonishingly revealing they will one day be beating the s*** out of each other in what he says will be ‘one of the most historical fights ever’.
He told Showtime: “My dad does not want us to do that. But I think it’s inevitable.
“In two to four years’ time, I think Jake and I are going to be beating the s*** out of each other in a ring, and I think it’ll be one of the most historical fights ever.
“The Klitschkos didn’t do it. They had a chance, right? Our mum tried to make us agree to never do that.
“But you got the one tatted up problem child, and then you got the podcasting-Pokemon-collecting-apoxie-producing, fcking whoever else I am.
    “So, that would be something.”

VanZant, 26, confirmed the fight on Instagram and wrote: “February 5th. There will be blood. @bareknucklefc link in bio.”
Hart, 30, has boxed 11 times as a professional, with a record of 4-4-3.
She made her BKBFC debut in 2018 but was beaten, since earning a losing record of 1-2.

BKBFC president David Feldman told MMAFighting: “Britain’s a real tough girl – she’s skilled, but she’s not the best technical boxer in the world
“Paige isn’t going to have to chase her down.
“It’s going to be competitive, but I think it’s going to be a good opponent choice for Paige on her first event.
“[Paige is] getting paid very well, and I don’t think we could have thrown her somebody that never fought bare-knuckle before, or at least someone that had a pretty well-established record.

“I don’t think the fans would have liked that. We’re going to give the fans what they want.”

VanZant will kick off her bare-knuckle career two days before the Super Bowl, which is currently scheduled for February 7 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
As a result, the promotion are hoping to steal some attention from the NFL finale coverage before the fight.
VanZant signed for BKBFC after her UFC contract expired, as she walked away with an 8-5 MMA record.
