Ryan Garcia hints at MMA fight against UFC star Conor McGregor after calling out Gervonta Davis for boxing showdown

RYAN GARCIA hinted he would be willing to make a switch to MMA in order to fight UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
McGregor made the move into boxing in 2017, losing in a lucrative crossover match with Floyd Mayweather.

Conor McGregor is in talks with Manny Pacquiao

CASINO DEALS: BEST SIGN UP OFFERS TO CLAIM OVER £700
Now, the Irishman wants to try his luck again with ‘talks intensifying’ to fight Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao.
Garcia was then brought into the conversation after a fan urged him to box McGregor, but the American Golden Boy fancies a crack in the cage.
He tweeted: “Imagine one day I don’t box Connor (sic) but I face him in MMA haha that would be crazy.”

Garica has talked up a transition into MMA before, even claiming he would knock out McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis.

But, for now the unbeaten 22-year-old looks set to chase a grudge match with Gervonta Davis.
Davis, 26, has accepted the fight, with Garcia happy to snub his mandatory shot at Devin Haney’s WBC belt in order to face Floyd Mayweather’s protege.
Looking further ahead, Garcia is also ready to rival McGregor in the pursuit to fight PacMan.

It comes with the eight-division champion, 42, previously admitting he only has two fights left before retirement.

Garcia told eNews: “With Manny, it’s like he’s the Legend. It would be like passing it down to me in the most humbling way.
“I don’t want it to come out as disrespectful. If I were to beat Manny Pacquiao, he passes it on. I take whatever he did I try to push it.”
“Manny knows my respect for him. “People love Manny because he fights with his heart.
“He does it to inspire people. You don’t even have to tell people to respect him. They do as he has more than a country supporting him.”

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will have to pay £1.5m EACH and give Usyk ‘a couple of million’ to fight for all belts

ANTHONY JOSHUA and Tyson Fury face having to fork out millions to to allow their fight to have all the belts on the line.
Joshua and Fury are in the process of agreeing a Battle of Britain, but Oleksandr Usyk’s WBO mandatory shot gives the pair a heavyweight headache.

Promoter Eddie Hearn explained the governing bodies are entitled to their three per cent sanctioning fee, which totals £3m while Usyk could demand ‘a couple of million’ to step aside.
Hearn plans to speak with WBO president Francisco ‘Paco’ Varcarcel to find out whether he will give the green light for AJ to swerve his mandatory defence or not.
But if Usyk, 33, is backed to either fight for the belt or receive a pay out, it will be down to Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, to decide if they want all the marbles at stake.
Hearn told Sky Sports: “Imagine my conversation with Fury and Joshua: ‘To keep all the belts on the line you’ve got to pay three per cent to the governing bodies [which equals] £1.5m you both individually have to pay plus Usyk wants a couple of million’.

“They would say: ‘What?’ This fight is bigger than the belts.
“This is undisputed. AJ wants to be the undisputed champion but isn’t this fight even bigger than that?
“Isn’t this fight the answer to all of our questions?
“Who is the best? Who is the baddest man on the planet? Who is the best heavyweight?

“At some point we have to take charge of the sport and say: ‘No more’. But first I will do everything that I can to keep the belts on the line.
“For me, that is the glory – seeing AJ covered in every bit of silverware. That has always been his aim.
“Once they’ve fought for the undisputed championship, if the belts become fragmented then so be it.
“But I’d just love that moment [to crown an undisputed champion].”
Never in heavyweight history has a champion held all four WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles.
But Hearn has maintained the bragging rights between Joshua and Fury far outweighs the famous straps they defend.

In an attempt to keep Usyk sweet as well as active, he could be offered an ‘interim’ title fight with fellow contender Joe Joyce, 35, as well as a step aside fee.
The winner would in turn inherit the full crown if it was ever vacated or be next in line for the champion.
Hearn said: “We could say to Usyk: ‘Set a fight with Joe Joyce, maybe for the interim belt’.
“Usyk is a classy guy. He is a boxing guy through and through.
“Even in his position he will see that AJ vs Fury is so good for boxing. Does he want to stop the undisputed championship fight?
“The fans won’t like it, if he does. But we can’t just disrespect him and say: ‘Wait’.
“We have to come up with something. The answer that I see is for him to fight Joe Joyce.”

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight location CONFIRMED with boxers earning almost £73million each, claims Bob Arum

A LOCATION for Anthony Joshua’s showdown with Tyson Fury has been confirmed.
That is according to promoter Bob Arum, who claimed both fighters will earn around £73million each.

The fight is likely to place at prime time in the UK – but a date is yet to be decided.
Arum told Barbershop Conversations: “We have a location, that’s true.
“We have a location and, as far as the date is confirmed, we haven’t zeroed in on a date.
“It could be as late as June because it would give more time to solve the coronavirus problem. By June, most people will be vaccinated, so it’s possible.

“And then we would do the fight, pay-per-view in the UK and pay-per-view early evening in the United States.”

Arum then revealed that both fighters are set to rake in around £100m (£73m) each from the fight.
He said: “The Joshua vs Fury fight will earn each of the guys close to $100million. Each of the guys.

“It is the biggest fight in history in the UK, not even close.

“Around the world it is the biggest fight that people wanna see.”
Negotiations over the ‘Battle of Britain’ are understood to have progressed smoothly
Arum, 89, expects the deal to be signed and agreed within the next fortnight.
AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn has already revealed the fight is not expected to take place in the UK.
Hearn identified Saudi Arabia as an option as they could make twice the money.
He told iFL TV: “The government here don’t invest in bringing mega-events to the UK – they don’t necessarily need to.
“They’ve got a Premier League football game every weekend, selling 50,000-80,000 [tickets].”

Joshua beat Kubrat Pulev in December to set up the historic undisputed title decider with Fury.
Fury, 30-0-1, has predicted he will beat the Watford-born bruiser inside two rounds.
But Joshua, 24-1, is on a mission to take the 32-year-old’s head clean off his shoulders.

Tyson Fury will NEVER face Wilder again after glove tampering claims and nobody can stop Anthony Joshua bout, says Arum

TYSON FURY will never fight Deontay Wilder again after the Bronze Bomber’s list of excuses for why he lost his WBC crown.
The Gypsy King’s co-promoter Bob Arum reassured fans that the American would not prevent Fury’s heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua.

Brit champ Fury inflicted Wilder’s first professional defeat when they clashed in the ring for the second time last February, following their initial bout ending in a draw.
But the one-sided nature of the fight hasn’t quelled a stream of excuses that have flowed ever since.
Among the reasons Wilder has blamed for his defeat have been his heavy ring-walk outfit and allegations that his drinking water had been spiked.
The Bronze Bomber also claimed that dodgy gloves allowed Fury to cut his ears with his fingernails – despite zero evidence.

    Bob Arum

And Arum has revealed that Wilder’s behaviour has ruined any chance of earning redemption in a trilogy bout.
He told to Barbershop Conversations: “There’s no mediation. I mean, there has been over Christmas, and New Year, there was mediation.
“I don’t know, maybe the mediator will be able to solve the situation, but we got a real problem because Tyson Fury has said to me and the mediator, ‘Not today, not tomorrow, and not ever’ will he ever fight Wilder after what Wilder said to him.
“He [Fury] regards is not only as a slur against him but against the Gypsy nation.”

Arum later stated that Fury won’t have to give up the green strap to pursue an all British unification showdown with Joshua.
He added: “Why would he have to release the [WBC] belt?
“I don’t want to get into any legalities, but the idea of anyone stopping the Fury – Joshua fight, it just can’t happen. The WBC belt isn’t an issue.”

The establishment was never kind to boxing so it’s great to see Curtis Woodhouse earn a deserved BEM

WHEN it comes to dishing out honours, the establishment was never kind to boxing.
So it was heartwarming to see Curtis Woodhouse awarded the BEM (British Empire Medal) for services to sport.

If his amazing story had been a work of fiction, then it would be called a fairytale.
Woodhouse has earned a unique place in British sport with his remarkable achievement of going from England Under-21 footballer to becoming British light-welterweight champion.
    That will never be repeated.
Woodhouse was a brilliant teenage talent — captain of Sheffield United at 19 and in the Young Lions team.

He earned four Under-21 caps playing alongside Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Frank Lampard and was destined for a glittering future in the game.
    But, sadly, it never materialised.
Woodhouse spent more time being arrested, getting drunk and having fights in pubs and clubs than he did on the training field.
To the anguish of the managers he played under, including Steve Bruce, Neil Warnock and Trevor Francis, they failed to curb his lack of discipline and watched despairingly as he then spiralled out of control.

Woodhouse, who later described himself as ‘just a scallywag from Driffield’ in his book Box to Box, went from the Premier League to non-league via a dozen clubs and, totally disillusioned, retired at 26.
A veteran of 100 street battles as a result of being racially abused, he decided he might as well get paid for fighting — so decided to turn pro.
He was in love with boxing and his heroes are Nigel Benn and Mike Tyson. It was a preposterous idea, considering he had no experience.
Yet Woodhouse was so determined to succeed, he made a solemn promise to his father on his deathbed that he would be a British champion.
He went into former British featherweight champ Gary De Roux’s gym to learn the rudiments and found it a painful experience.
Boys of 15 were beating him up in sparring.
I saw his pro debut at a Frank Warren dinner show 15 years ago.He won a four-round points decision.
Like so many others, I thought he was indulging in a flight of fancy and once he started getting hurt, he would quit.
With typical Yorkshire grit, Woodhouse, despite six losses and a multitude of cuts and bruises, kept improving until he fulfilled that promise to his dad — and outpointed Darren Hamilton to win the British light-welterweight title in 2014.
He said: “I started my journey ridiculed and laughed at wherever I went. It took me eight years to go from 189 in Britain to No 1.”

Woodhouse – pictured here playing against David Beckham – frustrated many of his managersCredit: Getty Images – Getty
And with a message to every kid, he added: “Don’t ever let people’s words discourage you.
“Don’t ever let people put restrictions on what you can achieve.
“But, most importantly, don’t ever let up on yourself — ever.”
Woodhouse got more satisfaction in knocking people out than scoring a goal.
He said: “What I loved about the sport is that it doesn’t matter what colour, race or religion you are, how big or how old you are — you all bleed the same and bruise the same.”
It’s no wonder with his history of being a drunken tearaway, with a criminal record for assaulting a police officer, that he thought he was being hoaxed when told the Queen had honoured him this month.
Woodhouse, 40, who is now manager of Northern Premier League team Gainsborough Trinity, added: “The first thing I thought was, ‘There’s no way this is real’. I thought it was a joke and it took three days to sink in.
“This definitely put me on the back foot and really humbled me.”
Curtis could hardly claim to be a role model growing up.
Boxing did much to rehabilitate him and he deserves his gong for being an example to all those youngsters who think life has passed them by.

Conor McGregor says Pacquiao fight ‘looks like it will take place this year’ as UFC star vows to win boxing world title

UFC star Conor McGregor has declared he WILL step back inside the squared circle this year to face WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.
The 32-year-old – who is preparing for his rematch against Dustin Poirier on January 23 – has stated he is desperate to win a boxing world title before he retires.

Conor McGregor has spoken of his desire to face Manny Pacquiao in 2021

McGregor last competed in boxing in August 2017 when he was stopped by Floyd Mayweather in the tenth round.
The Notorious’ boxing coach Phil Sutcliffe revealed earlier this week that there is an ’85-90 per cent chance’ he will fight Pac Man after his bout against Poirier.
And now McGregor has further fuelled speculation that the pair will pit their wits against each other in 2021.
The match-up could be easy to make as both McGregor and Pacquiao, the current WBA welterweight champ, represented by Paradigm Sports Management.

Speaking to his personal website, The Mac Life, about the possibility of facing the 42-year-old, he said: “I know that talks are intensifying for [a fight] this year.
“I am excited for a Manny Pacquiao bout and it looks like it will happen this year.
“What time this year? I am not sure.
“We’ll have to have some good discussions with Dana White and the UFC and see where it goes.

“I am open to it all, ready for it all.
“I will certainly attain a boxing world title before I call it a day.
“And I would be excited to do that against Emmanuel Pacquiao.”
Earlier this week, Pacman also fanned the flames by claiming he’d rather fight the Crumlin superstar over Errol Spence.
Reported by Business Mirror, he said: “He is too slow (Spence). Spence is slower than Thurman.
“They [Spence/McGregor] are my options, but right now I want to experience fighting an MMA [fighter].”

KELL BROOK has accepted Amir Khan’s challenge for a fight this year but warned the Bolton fighter ‘there’s only one winner and that’s me’.

The 34-year-old had vowed to put Brook ‘in his place’ and ‘shut him up for good’ in 2021.
And as Khan is set for talks with promoter Eddie Hearn, British fans look like they may finally get to see the hotly-anticipated match-up.
Brook, also 34, suffered a devastating KO loss in his last bout to Terence Crawford in November, but has reiterated his desire to get the Khan fight on when talking on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan show.
He said: “I don’t know if it’s a publicity stunt of if he does actually want it.

“It sounds like he does and that’s music to my ears.
“It’s a fight that everyone’s wanted for a long time, so if it does happen, happy days.
“I think it’s clear that I want the fight.
“It just caps the career I’ve had, to be in a fight such as that – the highlight of the career.”

Brook explained he thinks there is still clamour for the fight to happen despite the length of time it has been in the offing and that he is confident he will KO Khan.
He added: “I believe they [the fans] still want it.
“If we can get it across the line and it can happen, I think it’ll definitely catch fire again once we start promoting the fight.
“And what a fight it’ll be.

There’s only one winner and that’s me. I’m confident I’d knock him out, definitely yeah.”

“There’s only one winner and that’s me.
“It’s always been me and, as soon as he’s signed that contract, he’ll know pretty quick as well. I’ll be taking that win.
“I’m just confident in that fight, I’ve seen his fights and I just believe that it’s a great fight us meshing together.
“I just believe that I’ve got the shot and I’ll find a way to catch his chin and end the night.
