Joe Joyce prepares for potential Oleksandr Usyk by beating up a SNOWMAN as London is battered by severe weather

BRITISH heavyweight Joe Joyce showed a snowman no mercy as he braved the severe UK weather to continue his Oleksandr Usyk preparations.
The 35-year-old Olympic silver medalist put himself among the top names in the division with a sensational tenth round stoppage victory over compatriot Daniel Dubois in November.

He is now targeting a blockbuster bout with undefeated Ukrainian Usyk, a clash which could be for the WBO world title if Anthony Joshua decides to vacate in order to face Tyson Fury.
And not even the bitterly cold British weather was going to prevent Joyce from training on Sunday.
Joyce boasts a perfect record after 12 fights since going pro in 2017.

But he was beaten by Usyk in the World Series of Boxing back in 2013, a five-round semi-professional type contest.

Speaking about the possibility of Joyce-Usyk, promoter Frank Warren told iFL TV: “We’re working on, at the moment, Usyk and Joe Joyce.
“I think the WBO will order that as an interim-title fight so we’re working hard to make that happen.
“The situation is that the WBO have said they’d like to do that fight as an eliminator. We have no objection to that and I don’t think Usyk has.

“There’s been some preliminary talks and we’ll see where we go from there.
“I hope [the fight will get made]. It’s a good fight and I think whoever wins it, based on his last performance, Joe’s looking really good.
“If he comes through it, it puts the winner in a tremendous position.
“The eventual winner of the two fights between Tyson and AJ will have to defend against Joyce or Usyk, or vacate the belt.” More

Manny Pacquiao turns attention to Ryan Garcia fight despite 20-year age gap with McGregor clash in tatters

MANNY PACQUIAO has turned his attention to fighting Ryan Garcia after Conor McGregor suffered defeat at UFC 257.
McGregor revealed heading into his rematch against Dustin Poirier that talks to fight Pacquiao were intensifying.

So much so that he claimed a contract was being drawn up with the plan to fight this year.
But, that has been all but KO’d after Poirier avenged his 2014 loss and stopped McGregor himself.
According to The Athletic, Pacquiao, 42, is now in preliminary discussions with Ryan Garcia, 22.
Despite the 20-year age gap, WBA welterweight champion PacMan fights a stone above lightweight contender Garcia.

THE BEST MCGREGOR VS POIRIER REACTION

It is shades of Pacquiao’s 2009 fight with Oscar De La Hoya, when he moved up from lightweight to light-middleweight, winning emphatically.
Garcia has never fought above 135lb and appeared on course to agreeing a deal with rival Gervonta Davis, 26.
But in a sudden turn of events, the American – who is promoted by De La Hoya – revealed he had a bigger bout in the pipeline.
Pacquiao had wished McGregor well, tweeting: “Good luck tonight Conor! Let’s make 2021 the best year ever for fight fans.”

But he later congratulated Poirier, 32, for upsetting the odds in Abu Dhabi.
It leaves McGregor questioning his immediate fighting future, with a boxing return against Pacquiao now shelved.
He said: “I always did want to focus on my MMA career, but I’m also open, we’ll see what happens.
“I don’t know what will happen, that Manny fight was happening, it was as good as done.”

So is Conor Mcgregor fighting Jake Paul next?
    — Paige Spiranac (@PaigeSpiranac) January 24, 2021

But after the Irishman was dramatically knocked out by Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, the tables appeared to have turned.
Paul, 24, brutally blasted McGregor, 32, and retracted his offer, instead changing it to just $10,000 in cash.
It led to Spiranac, 27, tweeting: “So is Conor Mcgregor fighting Jake Paul next?”
Floyd Mayweather, 43, was also quick to mock McGregor, who lost to the boxing legend in 2017.

THE BEST MCGREGOR VS POIRIER REACTION

The former two-weight UFC star also sees his proposed talks to fight Manny Pacquiao take a massive hit.
It has not stopped Paul continuing to pursue a fight with McGregor, only strengthened by his reaction video.
He said: “Conor, ay, ay, Conor – I got $10,000 for you cash, cash baby.
    “You had $50million!”

McGregor, who is always confronted with what his next move will be, admitted he does not know what his immediate fighting future holds.
He said at the UFC 257 post-fight press conference: “It’s heartbreaking, it’s hard to take. The highest highs and the lowest lows in this game
“My leg is completely dead, and even though I felt like I was checking them [Poirier’s leg kicks] it was just sinking into the muscle at the front of my leg.
“Dustin fought a hell of a fight. I thought I was better than him in the clinch, but too little too late.

“My leg was compromised and I didn’t adjust and that’s it, fair play to Dustin.
“I’m very happen for him and very happy I got to come back and compete in my 11th UFC main event.
“I don’t know where I’m at the minute to be honest.” More

The boxing legend, who beat the southpaw in 2017, responded to a post which questioned why his brash persona is frowned upon while McGregor’s is celebrated.
He then claimed their differing receptions has racial undertones, and insisted his rival will never be able to replicate his success.
Mayweather, 43, wrote on Instagram: “I seen this post and my take on it is that the world knows Con Artist McLoser can steal everything from me and be loved but I’m hated.
“That just lets you all know that racism still exist. Just know, that bum will never be me or be on my level.

“I’m just built different, my mindset is on another planet, my skills are second to none, I’m a natural born winner and yes I talk a lot of trash, but every time I back it up!
    “This is what they hate.
“It’s sad that you can be a poor black kid from the ghetto that has dealt with racism your whole life and work extremely hard to put yourself and your family in a better position, and most of the hate come from my own people.”

The two have been subject to a lucrative rematch ever since, but more recently Manny Pacquiao, 42, has been in talks with McGregor.
Pacquiao lost to Mayweather in 2015, in what proved to be the richest fight in boxing history.
And it leaves the American all-time great mocking his ex-opponents for choosing to box each other.
Mayweather added: “Conor cannot even win in his own sport, but talking about coming back to boxing to fight Pacquiao.
“Nobody wants to see that, it’s like my leftovers eating leftovers.”

And while the result sent shockwaves around the world, YouTuber Paul took the opportunity to mock the UFC star and claimed he would now only offer him $10,000.
He said: “Conor, ay, ay, Conor – I got $10,000 for you cash, cash baby.
    “You had $50million!”
Paul has relentlessly pursued a boxing match with the Irishman, sending several viral call outs.

And while on Tyson’s Hotboxin podcast, he questioned why McGregor rematched Dustin Poirier, who he beat in 2014 already.
But legendary heavyweight Iron Mike was quick to tell Paul that the Irishman, a former two-weight UFC champion, is not afraid of the fight.
Paul, 24, said: “I called out Conor McGregor while the whole entire world was watching.
“He’s fighting a guy, Dustin Poirier, who’s 5’9, 155-pounds, who he TKO’d already in one round.

    “He’s fighting him again, why?”

Tyson, 54, then interrupts: “You know Conor’s not afraid of you, right?”
Paul replied: “I don’t give a s*** if he’s afraid of me, you don’t have to be afraid of someone to get your ass beat.
“There’s a $50million offer, proof of funds in the bank account waiting for him.”
Tyson uploaded the clip, and captioned the post: “𝙎𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚 @TheNotoriousMMA…”

His next fight is set for April 17, with an opponent yet to be confirmed.
McGregor, 32, lost his boxing debut to Floyd Mayweather, 43, in 2017, but is in talks to return to the ring to face Manny Pacquiao, 42, this year.
But that crossover fight has now taken a massive blow following McGregor’s third UFC loss.

On the week of his return, the southpaw was asked about Paul’s repeated callouts.
McGregor said: “That is what it is. We’ll see what happens. That’s it. He seems like a confused little kid to me, to be honest.
“Now, he’s willing to get in, so we don’t know what’ll happen. It’s not on the radar at the minute with the young lad.
“I know him and Dillon [Danis] have been back and forth, so you never know. But I’m excited to see. Fair play to them.”

Logan Paul in for ‘worst ass whoopin’ you’ve ever seen’ against Floyd Mayweather, warns UFC chief Dana White

LOGAN PAUL is in store for the ‘worst ass whoopin’ you’ve ever seen’ when he takes on Floyd Mayweather, warned Dana White.

Fight night looks set to be delayed as the pay-per-view exhibition event needed rescheduling.
But when it does come around, White reckons Paul will – unsurprisingly – take a battering.
The UFC chief told TMZ: “This is gonna be such a one-sided ridiculous ass-whoopin’, it’s not even gonna be funny.
    “It’s gonna be bad.

“I’m open and I don’t dislike any one of these kids.
“But if Floyd Mayweather really shows up and goes in and fights this kid, it’s gonna be an ass whoopin’ like nobody has ever seen before.”
Mayweather, 43, has a perfect record against the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya.
His most-recent professional fight was his victory over Conor McGregor in August 2017 before an exhibition win against Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018.

Paul, however, lost his only pro bout to rival KSI in November 2019.
And even his six-inch height advantage is not expected to help.
White added: “Logan’s gonna find out what speed is. Speed is power.
“When you get hit with s*** that you don’t see coming and when a guy like Floyd Mayweather starts putting it on you, it’s not even gonna be a fight.
    “It’s gonna be ridiculous!
“Take the size difference and all the other things, it’s gonna look like what a grown man can do to his kid.”

Tyson came out on top when the fight was simulated by the World Boxing Super Series but the 54-year-old insisted he would have lost to Ali as he described him as the ‘greatest there’s ever been’.
He told Yahoo Sports: “I know it’s a fantasy game.
“Most likely I would win the fantasy, I wouldn’t win the real fight.
“Ali’s the greatest there’s ever been.”

Ali, who passed away aged 74 in 2016, finished his career with 56 wins and five defeats.
The man dubbed ‘The Greatest’ won the first 31 fights of his career – before losing to Joe Frazier.
Tyson, who 24 years Ali’s junior, called time on his career in 2005 with a record of 50-6.

But the 54-year-old made an incredible comeback to the ring in November to face Roy Jones Jr.
Evander Holyfield has now confirmed that he is in talks to fight Tyson – 34 years after having his ear bitten by his old rival.
Holyfield, 58, told SunSport: “The thing is that if it’s meant to be it will happen, either way, it is what it is.
“What I can tell you is that my team is talking to Mike’s management, so I’m waiting for a decision. They are communicating right now.
“The thing is I’m still training for this, I know it will be some day this deal will happen and I’m ready for him. I’m doing OK.”

He is continuing his gruelling workouts ahead of his next film in which he reprises his role of Black Adam.
‘The Rock’ is also set to produce and star in a movie biopic about pro-wrestler turned MMA and UFC fighter Mark Kerr.
He revealed the news in a surprise press conference at UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday.
He said:  “Mark Kerr’s story is such an incredible story.

“Like all of us, and like a lot of these fighters, he battled these demons — these demons of addiction, these demons of mental health, these demons of getting out and the pressure of fighting in front of 50,000 people and what that does to somebody.

The Gypsy King, pictured here with friend and trainer Ricky Hatton, has lost 10st on his own journey

“Here’s a guy who has gone through it all, hit rock bottom, but the best part about Mark Kerr is that, like all of us in this room and all these fighters, these warriors, is that everyday, we get up and we want to do a little bit better tomorrow than we did today.”
Mike Kerr was considered to be the best fighter in the world during his MMA career from 1997 – 2009, as well as being a two-time UFC heavyweight champion.
Fury, meanwhile, is heavily into his fitness after an incredible 10-stone weight loss that got him back to the pinnacle of boxing.
