Eddie Hearn looking to make Dillian Whyte fight with Deontay Wilder next if Brit avenges Alexander Povetkin KO loss

EDDIE HEARN wants to book Dillian Whyte in a grudge match with Deontay Wilder if the Brit wins his make-or-break rematch with Alexander Povetkin next month.
Whyte was the mandatory challenger for the WBC title when Wilder was in possession of the belt, which he lost to Tyson Fury last February.

The Body Snatcher accused the American of ducking him and recently branded him a ‘coward’.
Hearn is eager for the pair to settle their beef this year, telling Sky Sports: “I would like to see Dillian Whyte fight Deontay Wilder, but he has to deal with Povetkin.
“Focus on the now, focus on the reality, and Deontay Wilder, I’m sure he’ll be in big fights but for us, we know our plans for 2021.”
Earlier this month, the Matchroom Boxing chief said: “First things first is March 6 for Dillian Whyte.

“If he loses that, then he can forget fighting Deontay Wilder, and he can forget fighting for a world championship, so he must win that fight.
“For me, outside of AJ against Fury, Whyte-Wilder remains one of the biggest fights in boxing. I would love to make that fight.
BETS OF THE DAY: DON’T MISS TODAY’S BEST ODDS BOOSTS

“I think Deontay Wilder needs to get back in the ring. I certainly wouldn’t be looking to put him in with Dillian Whyte straight off the bat.

“He needs a fight in my opinion. Presumably he’s going to be working with a new team of trainers.”
Whyte’s pivotal rematch with Povetkin will take place at London’s Wembley Arena a fortnight on Saturday.
The Brixton banger was knocked out cold by the veteran last August, a defeat which left his world title hopes in tatters.
A second successive defeat to the 41-year-old would effectively end Whyte’s hopes of fighting for a world title.

Whyte hasn’t dwelled on the second setback of his professional career, telling The Daily Star: “I got over it straight away, it’s heavyweight boxing. I’m a heavyweight, I knock a lot of people out.
“I hurt a lot of people in sparring and everyone I’ve fought has been hurt at some point or knocked down at some point. So I understand that one punch can change everything.
“It wasn’t a massive shock, I was just disappointed because it shouldn’t have happened.
“Obviously I wasn’t happy with the way I fought. But listen, a lot of people sit at home and go, ‘Oh my god this is a massive shock, it’s this, it’s that’.
“But it’s two top guys in the world. It’s not an amateur vs a professional.
“Also, I had seven amateur fights. Povetkin had 200 amateur fights. I never even won the ABAs and he was an Olympic gold medallist.
“Everyone was shocked but I was like relax man, this is heavyweight boxing. All the heavyweight champions before me have lost at some point. That’s just the way it is.”

Paris Fury to write new tell-all book revealing intimate secrets and ‘love story’ with boxing superstar husband Tyson

PARIS Fury has signed a big-money book deal to write the tell-all story of her amazing life with two-time world heavyweight boxing champ Tyson.
Paris, 31, says the biography, which will be titled Love And Fury, is a love story about her rollercoaster life with Tyson, 32, and their growing family.

Paris Fury’s book is due out later this year

The couple, who are both travellers, have five children, and Paris is pregnant with their sixth which is due later this year.
She said: “This book is my love story – for my husband and family.
“But it’s also a book for all the women out there who’re juggling lots of responsibilities.
“Trust me, I’m on your side.

“I’m a mum, I’m a busy woman, I’m someone who is dealing with a husband with a crazy career and his own huge highs and lows.
“And I want to tell anyone who’s felt overwhelmed when supporting others through tough times: you’re not alone.
“Whatever your experience of love, difficulty and family, I hope you can find strength in my story – there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.”
Paris recently became a panellist on ITV’s Loose Women, but the show had to apologise this week when she casually swore live on air.

Paris said “the s*** hit the fan” when Tyson revealed her baby news before he was supposed to.
Unbeaten WBC heavyweight world champion Tyson first announced the news in early February.

Paris revealed she actually had planned to announce her pregnancy on Loose Woman.
But Tyson got there first when he blurted it out in an interview.
Tyson and Paris are childhood sweethearts and were married in Doncaster in 2008.
Paris met Fury when she was just 15 at a mutual friend’s wedding.
However, it wasn’t until a year later, when their paths crossed again on a night out in Doncaster for her 16th birthday, that they began dating.
Paris explained: “He was my first boyfriend as I was not allowed a boyfriend until the age of 16. He is the only boyfriend I have had.”

Despite her husband’s worldwide boxing fame, the couple live in a modest home with their five children – Venezuela, 10, Prince John James, eight, Prince Tyson Fury II, three, Valencia Amber, two, and Prince Adonis Amaziah, who turned one this year.
The book will be published by Hodder & Stoughton and will go on sale in October.

Publishers Hodder & Stoughton said: “Paris is Tyson’s rock, the wife he thanks for all his success.
“When Tyson’s struggles with OCD, depression and alcohol have threatened to overwhelm them, she has held them together.”
Tyson is in talks over what would be the biggest fight in British boxing history – a showdown clash with Anthony Joshua.
Talks between Joshua, 31, and Fury are still ongoing for a historic undisputed title decider in the summer.

Anthony Joshua open to Deontay Wilder fight in 2022 after Fury fights but American ‘turned down deal of century in past’

ANTHONY JOSHUA is open to fighting Deontay Wilder in 2022, revealed promoter Eddie Hearn.
AJ is set to take on Tyson Fury twice this year to crown an undisputed world heavyweight champion.

After his double-header with the Gypsy King, Joshua could turn his attention to Wilder.
Hearn claimed the Bronze Bomber rejected the ‘deal of a lifetime’ to fight him in the past.
The pair were long-linked with a unification bout while Wilder had hold of the WBC belt.
But the fight failed to materialise even though Wilder admitted he received a big offer.

Hearn told Sky Sports: “If it’s the right fight for AJ, not stylistically, but if it’s the right commercial fight.”
“Listen, Deontay Wilder knows he turned down the deal of a lifetime to fight Anthony Joshua, but he made his bed and respect to him.
“I want to see him back in the ring.
“All we’re focusing on is the Tyson Fury fight, and anything else happens in 2022, because those two fights will be our plan for 2021.”

Hearn also claimed Dillian Whyte could fight Wilder if he gets past Alexander Povetkin in a rematch.
He said: “For me, I would like to see Dillian Whyte fight Deontay Wilder, but he has to deal with Povetkin.
“Focus on the now, focus on the reality, and Deontay Wilder, I’m sure he’ll be in big fights but for us, we know our plans for 2021.”
Wilder has not fought since he was battered from pillar to post by Fury this time last year.
But the hard-hitting American has vowed to ‘clean out’ the heavyweight division.
When asked about fighting Joshua or Andy Ruiz Jr during an interview with Marcus Watson, he said: “Yeah.
“Any fighter that’s at the top that people haven’t seen me fight and people strongly want to see me fight, that’s who I want to fight.
“I can sit here and name names all day, that’s the easy part.
“I’m just going to go to the top and once you go to the top and it’s someone I ain’t fought, that’s who I want to fight.

“I want to clean the division out, period.”
Hearn recently claimed that former WBC champion Wilder has ‘lost his mind’.
The hard-hitting heavyweight accused former trainer Mark Breland of ‘spiking his water’.
He suggested it contributed to his sensational KO defeat to the Gypsy King last year.
Breland described that as a ‘ludicrous allegation’ and ‘outlandish and ridiculous’.

Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell laughs as he reveals his dad floored him in sparring at 14 & ‘pretty much shattered rib’

RICKY HATTON and his son laughed as they remembered a sparring session gone wrong which ended in a 14-year-old Campbell’s ribs being ‘pretty much shattered’.
Hatton was a notoriously devastating body-puncher during his iconic career, which saw him reign as a two-weight champion.

And instinct must have kicked in five years ago when his son was on the end of a trademark left hook to the midsection.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Campbell, 19, said: “I was about 14.
“We had done bits before — pads, bags, little taps in sparring, that sort of stuff. This time were a bit different.
“I haven’t forgot. I’m telling it. Yeah, we were having a spar, me and him.

“I threw a shot, a right I think, and I don’t know what happened next — muscle memory or something, because he has pulled out the way and then come flying in, big left hook to the body.
“I hit the deck and I’m rolling there, trying to breathe.
“My mum wasn’t sure about me boxing, now dad has gone and pretty much shattered my rib.
“So I’m there holding my side, gasping, and then I hear him over me, saying, ‘S***, don’t tell your mum!’.”

Hatton, 42, admitted he did tell ex-girlfriend Claire about the incident, but immediately recognised Campbell’s fighting instincts.
He said: “You know what — he did tell her.
“The phone call I had that night, f*** me. Thing is, and this is important, he bloody loved it.”
Campbell boxed for Northside ABC in Clayton and Roy Richardson’s Boxing Academy, winning National Novice and North West titles.
He was trained along the way by his dad as well as uncle Matthew, who fought Canelo Alvarez and Kell Brook in his career.
The son of a legend announced his decision to turn pro in December, signing with Eddie Hearn, and set to start out as a super-featherweight.
It was later revealed Campbell joined Anthony Joshua’s 258 management company.
He will be trained by Matthew but dad Ricky will have a say in the management department.

When his boy was growing up, Hatton feared he would catch the boxing bug.
But now, just a month away from Campbell’s debut on Dillian Whyte’s undercard against an as yet unannounced opponent, the Manchester hero is over the moon with his son following in his footsteps.
Hatton said: “I couldn’t be happier about it. No one wants to see their little boy get punched in the face, but there’s more to it, isn’t there?
“I know pretty well what boxing can do for a kid, for their life, good and bad. But the big questions are — does he have a passion for it?
“Can he dedicate himself to it? Has he got ability? If the answers are no, my job is to say ‘This isn’t for f****** you”. But if it is yes, then why not?
“With Campbell, I’ve seen up close that it is all yes.
“Going back to that story, about me and Campbell sparring — he wanted to come back straight away. In boxing, you learn quickly if it’s for you.
“You either get hit in the face and say, ‘No thanks’, or you say, ‘Come on then, d***head, let’s go again’. He has wanted it every day.” More

Tyson, 54, made the comments on an episode of his Hotboxin’ podcast with Cesar Milan, host of TV show The Dog Whisperer.
Tyson, who returned to the ring in an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr in November, said: “We had, you know, at one time in life, man had to have been rolling with a pack of lions.
“There’s no way that couldn’t have happened, it had to happen.
“You see how domesticated they had them, now imagine history you know.

“The time they had to roll together, there’s no way they had to hunt with another.
“That sounds crazy, there’s no way that couldn’t have happened.”
Tyson has made no secret of his love for wild animals in the past.
Iron Mike infamously owned three Bengal tigers during his fighting heyday – which each one reportedly costing £48,000.

Teofimo Lopez hints at sensational SPLIT from Bob Arum’s Top Rank as Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn eyes winning purse bid

UNIFIED lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez has suggested he could follow in Floyd Mayweather’s footsteps and leave Top Rank Boxing.
Despite recently shocking the world with a stunning performance against Vasily Lomachenko, Lopez is seemingly unhappy with his current promoters.

And The Takeover has suggested he could soon move on to pastures new, telling ESPN: “I’m looking forward, and I’m moving forward
“If you can’t meet the terms, then like I said, I’m taking my talents somewhere else.
“Because you got the best fighter in the world on that display. It’s all paid dues.
“And that’s what we did; we paid our dues. I am your favourite fighter’s favourite fighter.

“That sets the tone, and I think that everybody needs to realise that.
“I am the truth. I am the best in the division. I can’t take it or leave it no more. It’s more so about it’s a takeover.
“I earned it. It’s not something that’s a given. You’ve gotta earn it.”
BETS OF THE DAY: GET MAN UTD AT 11/1 TO WIN TONIGHT – PLUS HUGE EUROPA LEAGUE BOOSTS

Should Lopez make the shock decision to leave Top Rank, who landed him the fight with Lomachenko, he would emulate Mayweather’s acrimonious departure from Bob Arum’s stable in 2006.
Mayweather bought himself out of his deal with Top Rank for £538,000 ($750,000) and subsequently went on to become the biggest pay-per-view star in the history of boxing.
The Money man reflected on the decision during a 2018 interview with FightHype, saying: “As of today, the worst thing I ever did in my career was sign with Top Rank
“One of my family members was money hungry and went behind my back. That’s the worst thing I ever did.
“The worst thing I ever did was sign with Top Rank, because I was destined to be big anyway. I was destined to be a superstar anyway.”
Lopez’s apparent willingness to leave Top Rank will be music to the ears of Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn, who wants to win the purse bid for the 23-year-old’s next fight.

Floyd Mayweather bought himself out of his deal with Top Rank in 2006Credit: AP

During an appearance on the The Ak & Barak Show, Hearn said: “There you’ve got a guy like Teofimo Lopez, who’s aligned to ESPN, Bob Arum’s saying, ‘This is the max I’m gonna pay you.’
“Teofimo Lopez is going, ‘Hmm. You know what? Let’s see what the marketplace is saying.
“‘So, let’s see what Eddie Hearn and DAZN wanna put up for this fight. Let’s see what PBC wanna put up for this fight, if you don’t give me the money that I want.’ ”
He added: “Now we’re in a position where if that goes to purse bids, we can bid. You know, DAZN might win that bid.
“But then, all of a sudden, the arguments start with Bob Arum and Teofimo Lopez. ‘You know, you can’t fight on another network. You know, your contract says this. Your contract says that.’
“So, then you’ve gotta vacate the belt. As [Lopez] said there, ‘I ain’t vacating no belt.’
“So, this is gonna be a very interesting week. It just changes the dynamic of things.
“You know, it puts more pressure on Top Rank and Bob Arum to make that deal with Teofimo Lopez, while Teofimo and his father right now are probably sitting back, going, ‘We’re cool with purse bids.’ You know, so this week’s gonna be interesting.”

Josh Kelly vs David Avanesyan tale of the tape: How boxers compare ahead of weekend’s huge welterweight clash

JOSH KELLY and David Avanesyan will finally settle their drawn out three-year feud this weekend.
The two were first scheduled to fight in December 2018 but on the MORNING of the bout, Kelly was forced to withdraw with illness.

How Josh Kelly and David Avanesyan compare

It sparked tension between both camps which carried on until they were again matched up in March 2020.
But the jinxed fight became the first boxing casualty of the coronavirus pandemic, which forced all sports to be shelved.
Now, almost 12-months on Kelly and Avanesyan are at last going to put bragging rights on the line – and here SunSport compares the duo.
    Josh Kelly
Kelly was a standout amateur winning an ABA title in 2013, three years before he represented Team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

He was beaten by eventual winner Daniyar Eleusinov of Kazakhstan and turned pro with Eddie Hearn in 2017.
Immediately the Sunderland supporter looked to be one to watch, thanks to his lightening fast, slick, hands down style.
Kelly got off to a quick start in the paid ranks winning five in his first 12 months.
His experience as an international amateur gave Hearn the confidence to fast-track the welterweight, who was 9-0 when he made his US bow.

But in New York – the night Anthony Joshua lost to Andy Ruiz Jr – Kelly was handed a shock of his own, drawing to experienced American Ray Robinson.
Since that night in June 2019, the Brit has boxed just once, beating Nicaraguan Wiston Campos.
Kelly was out the whole of 2020 amid the Covid-19 crisis, but has been promised an exciting year if he can get past European champ Avanesyan.

    David Avanesyan
The Russian himself had a stellar run in the amateurs, with over 100 bouts, before he moved into the pros in 2009, aged 20.
Bar one loss in his second contest, Avanesyan went on an 18-fight unbeaten run competing in his homeland.
He then announced himself in Britain in 2014, beating Laszlo Fazekas and Dean Bryne.
Avanesyan won the WBA ‘interim’ welterweight belt a year later by beating Charlie Navarro before defending it against legend Shane Mosley.
In his biggest fight to date, he lost to Lamont Peterson in 2017, challenging for the WBA’s secondary ‘Regular’ title.
Avanesyan’s only defeat since has come against Egidijus Kavaliauskas, who proved a tough test for US star Terence Crawford in 2019.
After that, Avanesyan pulled off an upset in September 2019 to beat Spaniard Kerman Lejarraga in Bilbao, and won the rematch three months later.
He has built a reputation for his rugged work rate and has almost triple the amount of fights compared to Kelly, having also faced more experienced competition.

David Avanesyan pictured in the workout before the Josh Kelly fightCredit: ©Mark Robinson/Matchroom
    Where does the winner go?
Promoter Hearn has already tipped Kelly for superstardom – but only if he gets past Avanesyan in style.
He told SecondsOut: “I’m so intrigued by this fight because if Josh Kelly goes in there and demolishes David Avanesyan, which can happen because he’s that kind of fighter.
“He looks the part, Josh Kelly. Who wouldn’t want to look as handsome as him?
“If he can fight like he looks, then he’s going to be a star. But these are the type of fights that make stars.
“These are your breakout fights, and like anything, if you’re not good enough, you won’t win.
“But that’s OK, there’s not shame in that. You can come again or you can find another job. But this is such an intriguing match-up.”
