Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury PPV WON’T cost £40 insists Eddie Hearn, but fans can expect increase on £25 price tag

THE pay-per-view price of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury’s fight WILL NOT cost £40 but fans can expect an increase on the usual £25, Eddie Hearn has revealed.
Joshua and Fury are closing in on a deal which would see for the first time ever all four heavyweight belts on the line.

The historic undisputed title decider also promises to finally see British bragging rights put on the line between the nation’s two biggest stars.
As a result, the box office price is expected to be boosted due to the magnitude of the event.
But Hearn ruled out a £15 jump amid claims it could cost fans £40.
He told iFL TV: “I haven’t had any discussions about the PPV price, I certainly don’t think it’ll be £40.

“So, nothing’s been discussed, nothing’s been set. I just started getting some tweets and some DMs going, ‘You’re a disgrace! £40 PPV’.
“I was like, ‘Where’s that come from?’ No discussions.
“If there is an increase in the PPV price – not £40, but I think there will be – then we need to provide a show that’s worthy of that.”
AJ’s promoter Hearn has already drafted paperwork over to Bob Arum, Fury’s backer in America, with minor changes being discussed.

June is now the targeted date but a venue is yet to be agreed.
Amid coronavirus restrictions in the UK, the Battle of Britain looks destined for an away fixture, with the Middle East and Asia both mooted options.
But one of the biggest hurdles to overcome will be the broadcasting schedule, with FOUR channels involved across Britain and the US.
AJ, 31, has an exclusive deal with Sky and DAZN while Fury, 32, fights on BT and ESPN.
HBO and Showtime partnered up in 2002 to allow Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis to meet.
But it was 13 years till there was another duel broadcast, when the same two American networks worked together for Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio to finally fight.

More recently, ESPN and FOX cross-promoted as Fury dethroned Deontay Wilder, 35, of the WBC crown in February 2020.
And it has set a precedents to follow with rivals promotions proving they can work together, opposed to keeping their talent in-house.
But, DAZN is traditionally streaming service with a monthly payment, unlike the one-off PPV price.
It would make sharing rights more difficult, however, the subscription-based platform did launch a box office option for Canelo Alvarez’s last fight.
DAZN linked up with cable TV charging a PPV price of $69.99 for Canelo’s win over Callum Smith, which also included a four months subscription.
If the same can be done for Joshua and Fury alongside ESPN in the US, it overcomes another obstacle.

Eddie Hearn says he discussed Tyson Fury’s recent weight gain with Anthony Joshua More

Mayweather marked his big day in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday night, despite not actually turning 44 until February 24.
TMZ report that guests at the 32,000 square ft venue followed coronavirus protocol by receiving temperature checks at the door.
Pictures from the future-themed event saw the likes of rapper Rick Ross and President Joe Biden’s brother James partying with Mayweather.
Neither wore face coverings or social distanced, but state rules in Florida do not require either, despite recommending both.

Also there was British stripper Anna Monroe, who has been romantically linked with Mayweather.
But the former five-weight world champion denied they were engaged in a social media post in January.
Monroe shared a picture of the drinks menu on Instagram, with options named after Mayweather’s ring name, like ‘Pretty Boy’ and ‘Money’.

Mayweather arrived in a £2million Bugatti and dressed in black and gold with his jewellery matching his attire.

The 50-0 icon’s cake featured dollar bills with his face printed on them, a replica of his private jet and a Louis Vuitton-inspired trunk made of icing.
Other celeb guest included ex-NFL star Ty Law, pop artist Jacquees and singer Montana Tucker, while models in skin-tight silver outfits filled out the venue.
Perhaps the most surprising guest of all was MILK The Pom star – a dog who has featured on Disney Channel.
Delicious buffets and custom cocktails were available for guests, despite Mayweather having NEVER drunk alcohol.

The all-time ring great retired in 2017 after beating Conor McGregor and later topped Forbes rich list of the decade with a £706MILLION fortune.
Mayweather did return a year later, wiping out featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in round one of their exhibition.
And he is preparing for a similar spectacle bout with a scheduled fight against YouTuber Logan Paul.
Mayweather was due to face Paul on February 20 – but it was later backdated after no venue was announced.
Now, he has opened up for the first time on the cancelled fight as he spoke to fans in a Clubhouse meet-up call.

Mayweather, 43, said: “We’re gonna do Logan Paul, and we pushed it back because we want an audience, we want to bring 80,000 people to watch.
“We’re trying to do it at the Raider’s stadium in Vegas for 80,000 people.”
The Allegiant Stadium is the home of NFL giants Las Vegas Raiders, which opened up last year after just under three years of construction.
As yet, no fans have been able to attend games amid coronavirus restrictions, with matches played behind closed doors.
It is being touted as a new venue for mega boxing events and can hold up to 80,000 fight fans, opposed to 65,000 in NFL games.

Mike Tyson went bankrupt but regained his fortune thanks to Hollywood roles and his own cannabis farm

    MIKE TYSON’S comeback is complete.
With a successful podcast, marijuana ranch and even Hollywood film cameos, Iron Mike, 54, appears to be living the good life again.

Things appear to be going pretty well for Iron MikeCredit: Instagram

But gone are the days of the sort of outlandish lavish spending that saw him blow his estimated £320million fortune and file for bankruptcy back in 2003, however.
In fact, the Baddest Man on the Planet has even managed to become a millionaire again – having recovered from eye-watering debt of around £18m at one point.
But how did Tyson – who returned to the ring to face off against Ray Jones Jr last November – manage to blow that fortune in the first place? And how has he managed to rebuild his wealth? SunSport takes a look.

At his 90s peak, Mike Tyson was one of the most famous men on the planet, having conquered the heavyweight division.

And he certainly enjoyed the spoils of his success, throwing lavish parties and revelling in the taste of glory.
These bashes included his 30th birthday party, attended by a star-studded 700-strong guest list including future president Donald Trump – with the night setting him back an eye-watering £320,000.
He also built quite the car collection, including the rare Lamborghini LM002 – worth over £100,000 factoring in inflation.
Tyson bought a Cadillac Escalade and Hummer H2 – adding another £140,000 worth of motors to his collection.

It wasn’t just big SUVs that joined his fleet, however, as he also purchased a £400,000 Bentley Continental SC.
Overall, The Richest claim that Tyson spent more than £3.5m on his luxury car collection.
In addition to his wheels, Iron Mike collated an even more impressive collection of luxury mansions.

And he bought plenty of stunning cars like this one
These included a giant estate in Connecticut that he bought for £2.3m… and 18 months later unsuccessfully tried to flog for £17.5m.
The property included 24 bathrooms, a four storey elevator, swimming pool, cinema room, disco and NBA standard outdoor basketball court.
He also bought a £1.9m mansion in Nevada, and a similarly heftily-priced pad in Los Angeles.
    EXPENSIVE TREATS

Tyson treated ex-wife Robin Givens to an infamous £1.75m solid gold bathtub, enabling her to relax in style – but burning what would be a rather deep hole in the pocket of most sportsmen.
Even more infamous than that, were his two pet tigers, which set him back £55,000 each – and a whole lot more in keeping them looked after – with just their food costing £150,000-a-year.
Tyson also loved his jewellery, and was the proud owner of a stunning £635,000 Piaget watch.
Following his 2003 bankruptcy Tyson, by this point sporting his iconic face tattoo, fought twice more professionally – losing bouts to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride respectively.

He pleaded guilty to charges of cocaine possession and driving under influence in two years later, serving 24 hours in jail and being made to take part in community service upon his release.
But since then, things have looked up for Iron Mike.
He properly launched his career on screen by playing an altered version of himself in the hit American comedy The Hangover.
And he has since appeared in other titles including Ip man 3 – and even a 2015 Madonna track.
Tyson has also launched his successful podcast, Hotboxin, as well as collaborating with Spike Lee on a touring one-man show.

Alongside business partner Alki David, he has started a cannabis empire that reportedly earns £500,000-a-month – with plans for a 418-acre weed resort reportedly in the works.
Tyson has now cleared his debts, and has a net worth of around £2.4m.
Having learnt from previous mistakes, and with returning to the ring – you certainly wouldn’t bet against that figure rising once more.

Manny Pacquiao accused of picking ‘low-risk, high reward’ fights by Mikey Garcia amid Conor McGregor talks

MANNY PACQUIAO has been accused of pursuing ‘low risk’ fights by welterweight contender Mikey Garcia, who is itching to share the ring with the boxing legend.
The former WBA welterweight champion was on course to box UFC superstar Conor McGregor later this year but saw the blockbuster match-up scuppered by the Irishman’s defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

Pacquiao has since flirted with an exhibition bout against lightweight sensation Ryan Garcia, who is 20 years his junior.
Former IBF welterweight title challenger Garcia is eager to share the ring with Pacman before he calls it a day but believes the Filipino’s days of facing top contenders are over.
He told Little Giant Boxing: “Everybody would like to fight [Manny] Pacquiao. Is it going to happen? I don’t know.
“It was supposed to happen. Towards the end of the year, I heard him talking about Conor McGregor.

“Then he started talking about Ryan Garcia. I haven’t talked to him.
“From that, it tells me that Manny is looking for a low-risk, high reward type of fight.”
BETS OF THE DAY: DON’T MISS TODAY’S BEST ODDS BOOSTS

Despite being frustrated by Pacquiao’s plans for the final stages of his hall-of-fame career, Garcia admits the former eight-weight world champion has ‘earned’ the right to pick and choose who he faces.

The American said: “He’s obviously earned to call the shots.
“He’s done it all in boxing. There’s nothing left for him to prove or claim.
“If he wants to go out and retire on a big event because these guys [McGregor and Ryan] would make it a big event and have the least amount of risk, so be it.
“[But] If he’s looking for a real fight, a challenging fight, then he would have to look at actual welterweight fighters.”

Garcia hopes a showdown with Pacquiao will eventually come to fruition but admits the ball isn’t in his court.
The 33-year-old said: “Everybody would like to see Manny fight a big fight and challenge himself.
“So if he fights someone like Ryan, f**k it, he’s earned it. I would fight him, but it’s not up to me. It’s up to Manny.”
Pacquiao, 42, hasn’t fought since he ended Keith Thurman’s reign as WBA welterweight champion in July 2019.
Garcia, meanwhile, was last in action in February 2020, bouncing back from his loss to Errol Spence Jr with a unanimous decision victory over Jessie Vargas.

Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin on March 6 has ‘small chance’ of being delayed amid coronavirus, says Eddie Hearn

EDDIE HEARN revealed Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin’s rematch could be delayed again because of coronavirus restrictions.
The heavyweight pair are scheduled to fight once more on March 6 but a venue is still yet to be announced.

Whyte is currently training out in Portugal, but as it is on the UK Government’s ‘red list’ he would have to quarantine in a hotel for ten days.
To accommodate a potential self-isolation period it means his rerun with Povetkin could be backdated two weeks.
Promoter Hearn told iFL TV: “There is a chance it could be delayed.
“I don’t think it will be, the main thing is to get Dillian Whyte out of Portugal. It looks like tomorrow that may happen.

“(Portugal is) in the red list, and the issue we’re having is the government won’t allow Dillian Whyte to isolate in the bubble, he has to isolate in a government hotel.
“That is impossible for Dillian Whyte to do. He could go to Spain, for example, and isolate there for ten days, and then fly in on fight week.
“That’s what we’re putting into place at the moment. Small chance it could be pushed back (three) weeks to March 27, but that’s not the intention.
“It’s our intention to do everything we can to make sure March 6 stays intact.”

Hearn has previously mentioned moving the fight to Gibraltar, where Whyte would not be required to isolate, as Portugal is not on a travel ban.
The Brit 32, was brutally knocked out in round five against Povetkin, 41, in August, in Hearn’s Matchroom HQ, held in the back garden of his offices.
It saw his WBC mandatory spot for Tyson Fury’s crown go out the window and left with a must-win rematch to keep his world title dreams alive.
But revenge will see him win back his right to challenge for Fury’s belt, which is set to be defended against Anthony Joshua in an undisputed title decider this year.

Deontay Wilder would lose to Anthony Joshua AND Andy Ruiz Jr, warns Hearn as he confirms AJ wants to fight American

EDDIE HEARN warned Deontay Wilder he would lose to Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr.
The Matchroom supremo, 41, also confirmed AJ wants to fight the Bronze Bomber – as long as the match-up is commercially right.

Mexican brawler Ruiz, 31, is responsible for the only blemish on Joshua’s record after a stunning KO victory over the Brit in New York in 2019.
The Watford man avenged his shock loss in the pair’s rematch later that year in Saudi Arabia to reclaim his WBA, IBF and WBO belts.
Wilder has not stepped foot in the ring since he was obliterated by Tyson Fury – who is in negotiations with AJ over a colossal two-fight deal – in February last year.
And Hearn claims Ruiz – who hasn’t fought since losing his rematch with Joshua – and heavyweight champ AJ would both be too good for the American who should be ‘careful’ after namechecking both as potential opponents.

He told iFL TV: “Two great fights. We tried so hard to fight Deontay Wilder and he never wanted to fight AJ but now he wants to fight him.
“It’s the same thing with Dillian Whyte – he did everything to try and fight Deontay Wilder.

I think Andy Ruiz will give Deontay Wilder fits.”
    Eddie Hearn

“Deontay Wilder does not beat Anthony Joshua and he does not beat Andy Ruiz either, that’s for sure.
“He has to be very careful of those fights and now Andy Ruiz has teamed up with Eddie Reynoso in the team, I think he’s going to be a real force.

“I don’t think there’s many heavyweights out there who will beat Andy Ruiz, honestly. If he’s on it and he will be with Eddie Reynoso.
“I think he’ll give Deontay Wilder fits but he’s fighting [Chris] Areola which he’ll win in style.
“And let’s see Deontay back in the ring, enough talking now. It’s been a year since he boxed – come on, let’s see you back.”

Leading promoter Hearn revealed Wilder could fight AJ in 2022 after two bouts against the Gypsy King.
Hearn suggested the Alabama slammer turned down the ‘deal of a lifetime’ to get the fight on previously when Wilder was still the WBC belt holder.
He told Sky Sports: “If it’s the right fight for AJ, not stylistically, but if it’s the right commercial fight.
“Listen, Deontay Wilder knows he turned down the deal of a lifetime to fight Anthony Joshua, but he made his bed and respect to him.
“I want to see him back in the ring.
“All we’re focusing on is the Tyson Fury fight, and anything else happens in 2022, because those two fights will be our plan for 2021.”
