      DILLIAN WHYTE has claimed Deontay Wilder is ‘nothing now’, slamming his rival for losing his heavyweight title and failing to sell out arenas – even in his own country.
      The British star, 32, had been calling for a WBC title shot against the Bronze Bomber for years and eventually became mandatory challenger in 2019.

      But after Wilder, 35, lost to Tyson Fury and Whyte slipped to defeat against Alexander Povetkin – both in 2020 – The Body Snatcher reckons he doesn’t need to ‘earn’ a fight with the US ace any more.
      The Brit even criticised Wilder for his inability to sell out arenas in his own country, before claiming he could lose his rematch with Povetkin next month and still have a shot at fighting the American.
      Whyte told talkSPORT: “I could fight Deontay Wilder now, regardless.
      “I don’t need to beat Povetkin to fight Deontay Wilder.

      “The only thing Deontay Wilder held was the heavyweight championship of the world.
      “He wasn’t a big draw, he wasn’t a big ticket-seller.
      “He wasn’t even selling out arenas in America and he’s American.
      “So he wasn’t a big draw, he just had the belt and he’s lost the belt, so he’s got nothing now.”

      Whyte added: “I definitely want the Deontay Wilder fight, but right now I’m focused on Povetkin obviously.
      “Povetkin’s a serious guy, very serious operator.

      Whyte takes on Povetkin in their second showdown on Saturday March 27 in the Rumble on the Rock in Gibraltar.

      The Mexican star, 30, was celebrating his annihilation of Avni Yildirim in three brutal rounds when two unknown men hopped into the ring.

      The pair, seemingly wearing Jake Paul T-shirts, were in the shot for his post-fight interview.
      After quickly realised the duo weren’t part of his team, Canelo appeared to tell them to ‘get the f*** out of here’.
      Once the men had skulked off, the Mexican superstar appeared to mutter what seemed to be the word ‘f***ers’ under his breath.
      Canelo then continued with his post-fight interview after setting up a monster showdown with Billy Joe Saunders in May.

      The pranksters may have worn the Jake Paul T-shirts in a bid to irritate Canelo.
      In December, the Mexican lashed out at YouTube boxers such as brothers Jake and Logan Paul, with the pair both igniting a war of words with Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather respectively.

      After Canelo’s easy win in Miami, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed he will fight WBO super middleweight and unbeaten champ Saunders on May 8.
      The one-sided battering of Yildirim came just over two months since Canelo easily outpointed Callum Smith to win the WBA super and WBC super-middleweight belts.
      But Canelo is confident of his chances, believing he can beat the ‘best in the world’.
      Speaking after his 55th win in 58 bouts, Canelo said: “I felt very good, it is great to be active and I wanted to have a great fight.
      “I needed the knockout and that is what I got.
      “It does not matter if my opponents are taller or bigger, I have the right trainer to beat them all.
      “At super-middle I feel strong and fast and comfortable, it is one of my best moments.
      “I will fight anyone, the best, I am making history.”

      Lewis told TMZ: “If the public wanted it then we would probably talk.

      Lewis retired after beating Vitali Klitschko in 2003 but recently admitted he could stage a sensational comeback.

      But it was needs must for the heavyweight boxing legend and in came rapper 50 Cent who bought it from him for £3.3m the same year it was revealed he blew his fortune.
