Claressa Shields says ’98 per cent of men in the world can’t beat me’ and only Muhammad Ali is ahead of her in GOAT row

CLARESSA SHIELDS reckons ’98 per cent of men in the world’ could not beat her.
And the boxing superstar believes she is the second greatest of all time – only behind Muhammad Ali.

Shields returns to the ring for the first time in 14 months on Friday night when she takes on Canadian Marie-Eve Dicaire in Michigan.
All the light-middleweight world titles will be on the line as the American tries to add the IBF, WBA and The Ring belts to her WBC and WBO crowns.
And speaking ahead of the blockbuster showdown, Shields – who has used her platform to speak up against racial and gender injustice – made the bold statements.
The self-titled GWOAT – greatest woman of all time – who promised to knock Jake Paul out said: “I don’t box for a hobby. It’s not a hobby. It’s my career, and I feel like people underestimate me when I speak about how great I am.

“But if I didn’t say how great I am, no one in this room would have ever called me great because they don’t recognise it. Only the greats know that they’re great.
“Like Muhammad Ali. Nobody called him the greatest of all time. They actually called him the ‘Louisville Lip’ because he talked too much.
“If he had never said he was the greatest of all time, he would have never been considered the greatest. No matter what boxer comes along, nobody can get in front of Muhammad Ali. That’s how I feel about myself.
“Muhammad Ali is first, and Claressa Shields is second. I am the greatest woman of all time, and 98 per cent of men in the world can’t beat me.”

Shields, still only 25, burst on to the boxing scene as a teenager and claimed Olympic gold at London 2012 aged 17.
She backed that up at Rio four years later to become the first American – male or female – to win boxing gold in back-to-back Games.
The 10-0 hero – who has ditched her old ‘T-Rex’ nickname and looks set to step to MMA this year – also set records for becoming a two-weight and three-weight world champ in the fewest number of fights.
Shields added: “I want you to know I’m not taking prisoners. This is a new era for me. My name from now on is Claressa ‘The Wolf’ Shields.
“‘T-Rex’ has long gone. ‘T-Rex’ was aggressive, but the greatest of all time has so much more. She possesses poise, power, and punch placement.
“In an interview, I saw [Dicaire] is not worried about the outcome – she’s worried about the task. Well, I’m worried about the outcome. I’ve known what the task is for the last 13 months.
“I’m concerned about the outcome because I don’t particularly appreciate losing. When I lost my first fight when I was 17, I didn’t sleep until I was 21 when I won my second Olympics. That’s how personally I take this fight.
“I’m hoping she can bring out a different side of me because many girls haven’t been able to take me to level three. I’m hoping she can take me to level ten.”

Mayweather, 44, usually gets what he wants which is evident with a stunning car collection worth around £20m.
But there’s one motor he might not be able to get his hands on.
Mayweather is in the market for the ultra-rare 2009 Maybach 62S Landaulet.
According to TMZ, there are only eight that have been made worldwide and two belong to artists Drake and DJ Khaled.

Car dealer Obi Okeke, who is flogging the luxury motor, has put a price-tag of £1.9m on it – or best offer.
The report adds Mayweather is in a bidding war with a high-profile rapper.
The latest bid has hit £1.4m but it’s still active so expect it to continue rising.
Mayweather, who retired from boxing with a 50-0 record, has earned a reported $1billion throughout his illustrious career.

So it would be no surprise to see the American land another knockout blow by making the highest offer.
Hans-Dieter Multhaupt, vice president of program management for Maybach, described the car as: “The Landaulet is for a superrich individual who wants something that is extremely extraordinary and enjoys being driven in a car with acres of sky above them.”
It is also described as a “chauffeur-driven limousine” with a soft partial convertible top with V12 Twin Turbo Engine and 620 horsepower.

Carl Froch open to Logan and Jake Paul fights as Brit legend warns both ‘call me out and I’ll smash you all to bits’

FORMER WBA super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has revealed he’s open to coming out of retirement to box Jake and Logan Paul.
The YouTubers have taken the boxing world by storm with their brash antics and callouts on social media.

But not everybody has taken kindly to their cringeworthy videos, including Froch.
When asked about potentially facing Jake, Froch told iFL TV: “I wish he’d call me out. Easy money.
“All them YouTubers are easy money, let’s be honest. Come on, they can’t fight, they’re swinging handbags.
“Jake Paul, Logan Paul, I have got absolutely no interest at all.

“Unless they wanna call me out and I’ll go and smash them all to bits.”
Jake, 24, made headlines last November with a viral KO of ex-NBA star Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson’s exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr.

The former Disney actor then went on a relentless campaign to box UFC superstar Conor McGregor, who he claimed to have sent a whopping £35million offer.

That alleged offer amused Froch, who said: “$50million, what are you gonna do with that?
“Put it in the bank and watch it just go to the taxman and let it get diluted, it’s of no use.
    “And, it’s risk/reward.
“Even though I think it’s an easy fight with one of them YouTubers, you’ve still got a chance of getting hurt.

“So at 43 years old, to answer your question, I wouldn’t be fighting anybody for any amount of money, including £50million.”
But after reassessing the size of a £50million bout with Paul, The Cobra quickly changed his tune.
He said: “Yeah, I’d probably fight him actually. I’d probably fight him for £50million actually.”
Jake, the younger of the Paul brothers, is gearing up for a boxing match with former UFC welterweight Ben Askren, whom he’ll face on April 17.
Logan, meanwhile, is set to face former four-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather later this year.
The pair were scheduled to throw down last month but their meeting ended up being postponed.

Canelo’s coach offers to train Conor McGregor and give him boxing masterclass after ‘surprising’ display vs Mayweather

CANELO ALVAREZ’S coach has offered to help train Conor McGregor following the UFC star’s ‘surprising’ display against Floyd Mayweather.
McGregor lost his ring debut in 2017 against Mayweather in ten rounds, but raised eyebrows after a fast start.

He is yet to make a return to boxing after talks to face Manny Pacquiao collapsed following his loss to Dustin Poirier in January.
Mexican trainer Eddy Reynoso has backed McGregor in his summer trilogy against Poirier and offered the Irishman a masterclass in boxing.
Reynoso told Little Giant Boxing, translated from Spanish: “I think they should do a trilogy fight. It’s 1-1 so the third fight should be good.
“Here we can support him. We can help to better his boxing and defence.

“Honestly, when he fought Mayweather he surprised me. He has a good counter. He has good footwork, waist movement, and agility.
“Therefore, I think he would do good in boxing.
“Give it your best, keep working hard, don’t quit. You have a lot to give, and get the third fight with Dustin Poirier.”
McGregor, 32, has been linked with a rematch against Mayweather, 44, ever since their blockbuster in Las Vegas.

But another crack at boxing royalty in Pacquiao, 42, was lined up this year up until he was beaten by Poirier, 32, at UFC 257.
Even boxing pound-for-pound king and four-division champion Canelo, 30, opened the door last April to fighting McGregor.
But Alvarez – also subject to a callout from UFC favourite Jorge Masvidal – could instead end up helping The Notorious brush up on his skills.
Reynoso said: “There’s bad nights sometimes. Conor has a lot to give, I don’t know what happened, but his career is untouchable.
“He’s a tremendous athlete that’s going to be in the history books.

Andy Ruiz Jr, Canelo Alvarez, Eddy Reynoso, Frank Sanchez, Ryan Garcia and Oscar Valdez
“Anytime, this is your home Conor whenever you wanna come practice and learn. We welcome you with open arms.”
Reynoso has a star-studded stable in his adopted home of San Diego, with Ryan Garica, 22, Andy Ruiz Jr, 31 and Oscar Valdez, 30, alongside Canelo.
McGregor in 2019 returned to his first ever boxing coaches at the Crumlin amateur club.
They have since been in his camp and corner for his last two fights, a win against Donald Cerrone, 37, and loss to Poirier.
But McGregor has admitted since defeat this year than he focussed too much on boxing, as he eyed a mega-money match against PacMan.

Gervonta Davis to jump up TWO weight classes for next fight as talks begin with Mario Barrios for summer clash

GERVONTA DAVIS is set to jump up TWO weight classes to take on Mario Barrios this summer.
A showdown between the WBA super-featherweight champion and the undefeated Barrios is reportedly in the works.

But according to The Athletic, there’s currently no timeframe or venue in mind for the shock bout.
Davis’ apparent move up to super-lightweight has divided boxing fans, who took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the proposed contest.
One fan tweeted: “Tank is so unserious.
“So many good fights at 130 and 135 but he’s going up to 140 where he’ll be undersized massively and TR control all the belts

“Needs to just control his weight and fight at 130/135.”
Another said: “Can we agree that this move would be the same as Canelo moving up to 168 to win a belt against a paper champion in Rocky Fielding?

“I mean it’s the WBA regular we are talking after all.”

And another said: “Does he realize Barrios doesn’t hold a real belt? Those are on the line between [Josh] Taylor and [Jose] Ramirez.”
One boxing fan, however, defended the match-up, saying: “Tank jumping up 10 pounds to fight an undefeated 5’11 champion with an 70 inch reach and tank is 5’5.
“If tank wins he will hold three titles in 130 , 135 and 140 all at the same time. P4P top 7 for sure.”
Davis’ decision to move up in weight instead of pursuing fights against one of the other lightweight standouts has perplexed many, especially after Teofimo Lopez’s recent call-out.

Unified lightweight king Lopez told DAZN: “It’s got to be… I would love to fight ‘Tank’ Davis. I would love to knock him out.”
He added: “A lot of people talk about it, that it would be a 50-50 fight.
“If we mentioned Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia, the guy everyone thinks will be a 50-50 fight will be me and ‘Tank’ Davis.
“Even if I don’t think it will be. I know what I bring to the table.”
Davis, 26, was last in action against Leo Santa Cruz in October 2019.
The Baltimore bruiser scored a sickening one-punch KO victory in the sixth-round of their Texas showdown, which immediately went viral.

Filip Hrgovic being lined up as Anthony Joshua’s IBF mandatory as Croatian beast compared to Wladimir Klitschko

UNBEATEN heavyweight star Filip Hrgovic will become Anthony Joshua’s IBF mandatory if he beats Michael Hunter in their upcoming bout.
The Croatian knockout specialist – who has been compared to Ukrainian legend Wladimir Klitschko – has racked up 12 consecutive victories since his debut in 2017.

Filip Hrgovic is undefeated in 12 professional fights, with ten of his victories coming by way of knockoutCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd

A bronze medallist at the Rio 2016 Olympics, the 28-year-old has stopped ten of his opponents, with all of his last five bouts ending before the sixth round.
But he faces the biggest test of his career in either April or May when he pits his wits against America’s Michael Hunter in an IBF final eliminator.
The winner would then be tasked with facing Joshua or Tyson Fury with the British pair expected to compete in an undisputed encounter.
Commenting on who he would prefer Hrgovic to box, his promoter Nisse Sauerland told Sky Sports: “I know who I would prefer to fight.

“I would prefer Filip to fight Joshua, simply stylistically. They are both big, strong guys but Filip can move more and is less robotic.
“Fury is a nightmare for anyone because you just don’t know what he will do. It’s amazing what Fury can do for such a big man.
“Joshua is a powerhouse, he’s an Adonis. But if I had to pick someone stylistically for Filip? I would pick Joshua.”
Hrgovic’s next opponent Hunter has lost just once in 21 bouts – a 2017 points defeat against Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO cruiserweight title.

And Sauerland is aware of the danger the 32-year-old possesses, as he said: “Hunter is game. You can’t knock him.
“He’s been a road warrior, stopping Martin Bakole and having a close fight with Alexander Povetkin.
“This isn’t an easy fight but we believe Filip has the tools to win. Hunter is a great fighter but the size and power of Filip will be too much for him.
“Filip has only had 12 fights so we’re happy that he’s getting a proper test. We didn’t hesitate. You would be crazy not to accept.
“It’s a good fight. We have wanted a step up the whole time. But people out-price themselves when it’s time to fight Filip.”

YouTubers Jake and Logan Paul as well as Tanner Fox and UFC heavyweight Francis Ngannou have all joined in on the craze.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Smith-Schuster was the latest to feel Garcia’s force.
And after a pounding to the midsection, the 6ft 1in NFL ace took a knee.
Garcia’s power to the body was on full show in his last fight, against Britain’s Luke Campbell, 33, in January.

The lightweight sensation, 22, had to pick himself off the canvas in round two but closed the show in the seventh after a left hook.
Unbeaten Garcia, who is 21-0 and has 8.5million followers on Instagram, finds himself poised for superstardom as boxing’s next ‘Golden Boy’.
But the American recently bravely admitted to a battle with his mental health in a touching message to his fanbase.

Roy Jones Jr, 52, set to return after revealing ‘dream fight’ with UFC legend Anderson Silva following Mike Tyson draw

ROY JONES JR is set to return once again after revealing his ‘dream fight’ with UFC legend Anderson Silva.

After eight rounds, the fight for the ages resulted in a draw, with both Tyson, 54, and Jones, 52, calling for a rematch.
But with Iron Mike now set to instead face iconic rival Evander Holyfield, 58, in a trilogy bout 24 years in the making, Jones is eyeing Silva, 45.
He told TMZ Sports: “Truthfully speaking my dream next fight will probably be Anderson Silva.
“Because Anderson’s available now, I’m available now.

“So, we’ve been wanting to box for the longest time. Why not me and Anderson go out there and put it on for the people?
“It can happen, I think. I’m gonna call him when I’m back home, see what’s happening – it can happen, yeah.”
SunSport revealed in December that the two veteran stars had started preliminary talks to finally fight, following years of missed opportunities.
Silva, a former middleweight champion, had always wanted to face Jones by crossing over to the boxing ring, but his UFC contract blocked the move.

But following his release from the premier MMA promotion late last year, the Brazilian is free to make the step into the ring.
Silva has boxed twice before, losing his debut in 1998 before returning in 2005 with a win, a year before signing with the UFC.
Jones only retired professionally in 2018, but admitted his knees, mixed in with Silva’s boxing experience and southpaw style, makes it a fair fight.
He said: “Anderson knows what pro boxing is, he’s been a pro boxer before, he knows how to pro box.
“At this age, with my knees not being the same they used to be, it gives him a better chance.

Roy Jones Jr revealed his ‘dream fight’ is with Anderson Silva

Anderson Silva was released by the UFC
“And he’s a tall left-hander. So all that works in his favour.
“So there’s a few different elements now that give him a little bit better chance than he would’ve had back in the day.
“Now in my prime, no, no chance. But now that I’m older, and older than him, so it’s something to look at now.
“Because I feel that his chances now are better than they ever were before.” More
