He met Slice – real name Kevin Ferguson – at a gig in Miami and shared a crucial tip, as revealed by a close friend as part of the UFC ‘Fightlore’ series.
Speaking of Slice’s rise from cult internet hero to mainstream stardom and the fame that came with it, the friend said: “But the first time that I realised that I went way beyond the internet was when we went to a concert at the Miami Arena.
“And we were back there, and we look over, and Tyson was there and he called us over.
“He’s like, ‘Hey man, I am a big fan of your work.’

“I’m just blown away that this was even happening, Fergs even managed to shake his hand.
“I’ll never forget this, Tyson says, ‘Can I give you one piece of advice?’ He goes, ‘Don’t ever go pro’.”
Ferguson attracted huge attention after a videos of his backstreet brawls in Miami went viral on YouTube.
He instantly became an internet sensation – Rolling Stone even labelled him the King of the Web Brawlers.

That led to time with Elite XC before he joined the Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweight series – part of the UFC – ignoring Tyson’s advice.
He beat Houston Alexander in his UFC debut in December 2009 before losing to Matt Mitrione by TKO five months later at UFC 113.
After that, Slice won all seven of his pro boxing bouts then switched back to MMA by signing with Bellator.
He had a win at Bellator 136 and a no contest at Bellator 149 before he was due to headline the 158th event at London’s O2 Arena.
However, the Bahamas-born star tragically died of heart failure on June 6, 2016 aged just 42.

Mike Tyson fighting Fury or AJ would be ‘unfair’, says Gypsy King who backs former champ for Holyfield rematch

TYSON FURY has backed heavyweight legend Mike Tyson to step inside the ring with rival Evander Holyfield.
Iron Mike returned to the ring for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr last year.

Tyson, who is 54, has been enduring gruelling training programmes throughout lockdown and now looks in terrific shape
And he could get in the ring for a fight with Holyfield after his draw against Jones Jr.
Tyson lost against Holyfield on two occasions in his career including being famously disqualified for biting a chunk of his ear in their 1997 rematch.
But with talk of a trilogy of fights, WBC champ Fury says he is “all for it.”

Speaking on Instagram, the Gypsy King revealed: “I think everyone do their own thing. If that’s what makes them tick and gives them a goal, then I’m all for it.
“Because I know what it’s like to have no goals, I know what it’s like to be sat on the sidelines watching everybody else.
    “I know what it’s like to be a ‘has-been’. I’ve been there.
“I know what it’s like to suffer with mental health problems and then give myself a massive goal to achieve and I know what it’s like to set about achieving it.

“So if Mike Tyson’s 53-years-old (now 54) and Evander Holyfield’s nearly 60, if they want to do this, this is their choice, let them do it.
“We could say, ‘Oh no, don’t let them do it, whatever.’ But at the end of the day they’re their own men. They know the risks, they know the responsibility.
“I say if they can pass medicals, if they can pass all the brain scans, healthy and fit to box, then let them box.
“George Foreman was 45 when he won the world heavyweight championship, how can we ever consider having an older heavyweight champion if they’re not given the opportunity?”
But Fury, who has a third fight lined up with American rival Deontay Wilder for December, slammed talk that Tyson could take on either him or Brit champ Anthony Joshua.
He added: “If they fight exhibitions, it’s between them and people their own age.

“I wouldn’t like to see Mike fighting one of the top heavyweights because obviously 55 vs 35 or 30 is just not fair.
“But to see him fight someone his old age, an old-timer as well, fantastic, I’d love to see it.
“If he’s definitely serious about it, I’ll buy it on pay-per-view for sure. There’s one buy right here.”

A boxing Hall of Famer, Hagler was named Fighter of the Decade (1980s) by Boxing Illustrated and twice named Fighter of the Year (1983 & 1985) by The Ring magazine.
He legally changed his name to ‘Marvelous’ in 1982, after becoming annoyed that American commentators were not using his nickname.
Regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters ever, while his stunning record of 52 KOs in 62 wins see him ranked among boxing’s heaviest hitters.
His chin was perhaps his greatest asset, with just one knockdown scored against him in 67 professional fights – with even that still hotly contested by fans and pundits.

Legend George Foreman reveals Bruce Lee could have been world champion boxer as he was so good he left him with ‘chills’

BRUCE LEE could have become a boxing world champion, according to one of the legends of the sport George Foreman.
A book charting the life of the martial artist, ‘Bruce Lee: The Life of a Legend’, was released last year on the anniversary of his death.

Lee, who died in 1973 after suffering a brain injury, would have been 80 on July 20, 2020.
Foreman has revealed that watching Lee do his thing in films left him with “chills”.
And the 72-year-old claims that Lee could have made a big success in the sport where he himself became famous.
In an excerpt from the book seen by SunSport, Foreman said: “Bruce Lee was a good athlete and he could’ve been a good boxer.

I was in shock! He left all the audiences awestruck. Bruce Lee changed everything
    George ForemanFormer heavyweight boxing champ

“He could have been anything. In his weight class, he would have been a boxing champion.
“I remember I was in Hawaii in 1973 and I went in to see the movie Enter the Dragon.
“When I walked out after the movie, on all my back I had chills on me!
“I was the heavyweight champion of the world, by the way, but all I could think was, wow!

“I was in shock! He left all the audiences awestruck. Bruce Lee changed everything!”

Foreman believes Lee will continue to have “a lasting impression” even another 50 years from now for his “box-office appear and his action skills”.
He is credited with paving the way for what we know as MMA today with his founding of Jeet Kune Do – a martial art with “minimal effort with maximum effect and extreme speed”.
Foreman retired from boxing in 1997 at the age of 48 and is a two-time heavyweight champion with a record of 76 wins and five defeats.

Tyson Fury reveals Covid stopped him from fighting at WrestleMania and SummerSlam before facing Drew McIntyre in the UK

TYSON FURY revealed coronavirus stopped him fighting at WrestleMania and SummerSlam.
And he was also due to take on Drew McIntyre in the UK but the virus put pay to that contest too.

The WBC heavyweight champion, 32, dethroned Deontay Wilder in his last boxing bout in February 2020.
But after appearing at WWE Crown Jewel four months earlier where he beat Braun Strowman, the Gypsy King was due to make a return to WWE last year.
And that would likely have seen a super showdown between British pair Fury and McIntyre.
He told Behind The Gloves: “I was supposed to go to SummerSlam last year and I was supposed to go to WrestleMania last year.

“And I was also supposed to fight Drew McIntyre in a pay-per-view event in the UK, but none of that happened thanks to Covid.
“So, Covid has cost me SummerSlam, WrestleMania, PPV with Drew McIntyre, the Wilder rematch, and the [Anthony] Joshua fight.
    “So, thank you, Covid.”
Fury and McIntyre, 35, have been at loggerheads on social media since the Scot beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 last April to become champion.

The duo have repeatedly called each other out to go to war with one another, probably at a UK stadium.
Triple H said it would not be hard to get it arranged – all he had to do was call the WWE executive vice president and a box office blockbuster would be sorted.
Speaking in September, Fury vowed to KO ‘big s***house’ McIntyre.
The 6ft 9ins superstar posted a Twitter video to tell McIntyre: “Big Drew. Big s***house Drew. Listen. Contact my people, Nick Khan, and let’s get it on.
“Get Triple H or Vince (McMahon) to contact Nick and let’s get this fight over the line.”

And he warned the wrestler to forget about his famous Claymore Kick finish – as he is sure he will deliver a devastating finale of his own.
He said: “I’m going to grab your hair. I’ll swing you around that ring.
“Never mind Claymore, you’re going to get knocked the F out by the Gypsy King. That’s my promise, mush.”
Fury is expected to confirm another British showdown in the coming weeks – this time against AJ to put all the heavyweight boxing belts on the line.
But their first fight, due for this summer, is now in jeopardy after Fury told the media he was drinking up to 12 pints per day, had stopped eating and was no longer training.

Floyd Mayweather’s former opponent Juan Miguel Marquez reveals he drank his OWN URINE before fight in 2009

FLOYD MAYWEATHER’S former opponent Juan Miguel Marquez has revealed he drank his OWN URINE in a bid to beat the legend.

Their welterweight boxing bout raked in over 1 million pay-per-view buys as Marquez failed to make history by becoming the first man to defeat the icon.
However, no-one can ever accuse the star of taking the pee in his preparations for his shot at glory.
The 47-year-old, who was a four-weight world champion himself, admitted the extreme length he went to before facing Mayweather regarding downing his own wee.
He explained: “This is something I have been doing for the past six or seven fights, and it has given me good results.

“If you drink or inject yourself with vitamins, you release them every time you go to the bathroom. Why not put them back in your body orally?”
Unfortunately for Marquez his unique tactic failed to work as he was knocked down in the second before suffering a bad cut in the fourth.
He bravely battled on to finish but it was Mayweather, who definitely will not be drinking his own urine ahead of his upcoming exhibition clash with YouTuber Logan Paul, who earned a unanimous decision from the judges.
Marquez did bounce back in 2010 to retain his lightweight titles against Juan Diaz and would later ditch his drinking habit ahead of a showdown with fellow icon Manny Pacquiao in 2011.

Marquez said: “On the advice of my doctor and my physical trainer Angel (Hernandez), they told us we should stop.
“We’re looking for what can help me, and if the doctor says no longer drinking it will help, then we’ll stop.”
There was some consolation for Marquez after his losing effort to Mayweather as the American remembered a lot more about him than just his breath following their match.
Mayweather said: “He was a great little big man. I threw a hell of a shot that dropped him, and then he got back up and kept fighting. He’s a tough guy.
“I’ve been off for almost two years but it felt really good to be back. I was happy with the victory but I know I can get better.”

His 12 title defences rate as the third-longest ever championship reign, while his six years and seven months with the belt is the second-longest tenure for a middleweight.
Kay, with whom he had five children, wrote on Facebook: “I am sorry to make a very sad announcement.

“Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.
    “With love, Kay G. Hagler.”

Hagler had initially claimed the middleweight crown in his one and only fight on British soil, beating Alan ‘Boom Boom’ Minter by third-round TKO at Wembley Arena.
Marvelous went on to be part of some of the biggest matches in fight history, with blockbuster bouts against the other members of the ‘Four Kings’ – Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard – on his CV.
He retired with a 62-3 record, and two draws, with the 1987 split-decision defeat to Leonard his final fight – and one that remains one of boxing’s most controversial results.
