Frustrated Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury fans told ‘go f*** yourself’ by fuming Bob Arum for moaning about fight delay

BOB ARUM furiously told fans to ‘go f*** yourself’ for moaning about the delay in Tyson Fury’s fight with Anthony Joshua.
Promoters have assured fans the heavyweight title decider is close to completion with an announcement imminent.

But as the finer details are being put together behind closed doors, fans are growing publicly impatient.
Fury’s US promoter Arum has little sympathy, though, pointing to the coronavirus pandemic as the obvious sticking point in negotiations.
He told BoxingScene: “You know what I say? Go f*** yourself. Find a life. That’s what I would say to them.
“For Christ sake, we’re all dealing with a fraught situation that is none of our fault and we don’t have the expertise if there is any expertise to deal with it.

“(The earliest would be) end of June, beginning of July. But, again, I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know what the medical experts are saying.”
Fans are not the only ones growing voicing their concerns, with Fury claiming to have stopped training and instead drinking up to 12 pints a day.
But again Arum made it clear talks with AJ’s backer Eddie Hearn are heading in the right direction, despite Fury’s frustration.
He said: “He’s getting impatient. That’s how he is.

“I think that everybody is proceeding the way they should be proceeding.
“When the fight will take place, where it will take place — that will work itself out.
“But right now we’ve got a mother f***ing pandemic. You can’t look at this like it’s (2019).
“That’s his nature. He’s impatient. Listen, if I could wave a wand and end the pandemic wouldn’t I do it?
“We’re all on the same page. Eddie’s on the same page, everybody’s on the same page.”
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the UK is all-but ruled out to host the Battle of Britain, which is now set for an away fixture.

And Top Rank boss Arum suggested a date and venue is still yet to be finalised, with complications on where fans will be welcomed.
He revealed: “The problem is when can we schedule the fight and where.
“Everybody is in the same boat. Nobody is going to allow a big crowd except the f***ing governor of Texas, who don’t give a s***.
“Everybody else is going to take precautions.”
Saudi Arabia, where Joshua beat Andy Ruiz Jr in their 2019 rematch, is a frontrunner, as it is only three hours ahead of the UK time zone.
They also have the cash to front a huge site fee to bring the unification to the Middle East as well as the prime time TV slot.

But Arum warned no money will be fronted until there is a clear green-light for live crowds, only adding to Fury’s fears.
The promoter said: “There are no substantive issues except for the pandemic.
“Who’s going to put up money for a site unless they can attract people from the outside?
“He’s impatient. He’s a fighter. He’s training. He wants a date. He wants to know how he prepares. We all want that. It is what it is.
“There are no villains here other than the pandemic. Not Eddie. Everybody is behaving appropriately except the pandemic.”

Mexican boxing icon Julio Cesar Chavez, 58, set for final fight against Hector Camacho Jr, 42, in special exhibition

MEXICAN boxing icon Julio Cesar Chavez is set for one final fight against Hector Camacho Jr in a special exhibition.
Chavez is renowned as one of the greatest fighters ever from the boxing nation of Mexico.

Julio Cesar Chavez is set for one final fight

Hector Camacho will fight Julio Cesar Chavez in an exhibition

He retired in 2005 but continued to box in exhibition bouts, most recently with Jorge Arce last year, who he faced three times with head guards on.
Now the three-division champion, 58, is ready to hang up the gloves for good in a farewell exhibition fight with Puerto Rican Camacho, 42.
The pair, who fought in 1992, are set to headline at the Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara on Saturday, June 19.
Chavez’s son, Julio Cesar Jr, 35, will also feature on the undercard against Canelo Alvarez’s brother Ramon, 34.

Canelo, 30, famously dominated Chavez Jr in 2017 ending their bitter rivalry.
The son of a legend, a former middleweight world champion, featured on his dad’s undercard last September.
Chavez Sr fought and beat Arce, 41, but Jr was involved in a shock upset against countryman Mario Abel Cazares, after being pulled out following a cut.
He returned successfully in November, stopping Ecuadorian Jeyson Minda in four rounds.

Also set to feature on Chavez’s undercard is Omar Chavez, who will face Ramon Alvarez in a trilogy bout to decide their series.
Boxing great Chavez was once unbeaten in 90 fights, until he was finally bettered by Frankie Randall in 1994.
During his career he faced other all-time greats such as Pernell Whitaker, Oscar De La Hoya and Camacho.
Chavez won world titles at super-featherweight, lightweight and light-welterweight.

Floyd Mayweather’s former opponent Juan Manuel Marquez reveals he drank his OWN URINE before fight in 2009

FLOYD MAYWEATHER’S former opponent Juan Manuel Marquez has revealed he drank his OWN URINE in a bid to beat the legend.
Money returned from a two-year hiatus from the ring in 2009 to take on the Mexican in Las Vegas.

The Mexican’s pee drinking failed to help him make historyCredit: HBO

Their welterweight boxing bout raked in over 1 million pay-per-view buys as Marquez failed to make history by becoming the first man to defeat the icon.
However, no-one can ever accuse the star of taking the pee in his preparations for his shot at glory.
The 47-year-old, who was a four-weight world champion himself, admitted the extreme length he went to before facing Mayweather regarding downing his own wee.
He explained: “This is something I have been doing for the past six or seven fights, and it has given me good results.

“If you drink or inject yourself with vitamins, you release them every time you go to the bathroom. Why not put them back in your body orally?”
Unfortunately for Marquez his unique tactic failed to work as he was knocked down in the second before suffering a bad cut in the fourth.
He bravely battled on to finish but it was Mayweather, who definitely will not be drinking his own urine ahead of his upcoming exhibition clash with YouTuber Logan Paul, who earned a unanimous decision from the judges.
Marquez did bounce back in 2010 to retain his lightweight titles against Juan Diaz and would later ditch his drinking habit ahead of a showdown with fellow icon Manny Pacquiao in 2011.

Marquez said: “On the advice of my doctor and my physical trainer Angel (Hernandez), they told us we should stop.
“We’re looking for what can help me, and if the doctor says no longer drinking it will help, then we’ll stop.”
There was some consolation for Marquez after his losing effort to Mayweather as the American remembered a lot more about him than just his breath following their match.
Mayweather said: “He was a great little big man. I threw a hell of a shot that dropped him, and then he got back up and kept fighting. He’s a tough guy.
“I’ve been off for almost two years but it felt really good to be back. I was happy with the victory but I know I can get better.”

‘Marvelous’ Marvin Hagler was one of the best boxers of all time… with him, you knew you were in presence of greatness

WHEN I flew to America 41 years ago to interview Marvelous Marvin Hagler, before he challenged Alan Minter for his world middleweight title, he refused to see me.
Hagler then was an unknown quantity in this country which is why I arranged with his managers, Pat and Goody Petronelli, to spend time getting to know him at his Provincetown training camp at the tip of Cape Cod.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler died age 66 on SaturdayCredit: EPA

Minter’s unforgivable remark “I’ll never lose my title to a black man” had been splashed in every newspaper in the US and Hagler got it into his head everyone in Britain was a racist.
I told the Petronelli’s as I had travelled 3,000 miles at considerable expense, if I didn’t get the interview I would be sacked. That was not the truth, I admit.
The Petronelli’s took my sob story to Hagler – he not only relented but it was the start of an extremely friendly relationship which lasted long after he retired seven years later.
When I initially shook hands with Marvin little did I realise I was in the presence of greatness, someone who could genuinely lay claim to being the greatest world middleweight champion of all-time.

Hagler was one of those enigmatic boxing characters. There was the ever-smiling quietly spoken compassionate family man who went out of his way to help others.
This is what he had to say about himself once he stepped inside the ropes.
“There’s a monster that comes out of me in the ring.
“I think it goes back to the days when I had nothing. It’s hunger I think.

“That’s what the monster is and it’s still there.”

Marvelous reigned as undisputed middleweight king for seven yearsCredit: Getty Images – Getty
Marvin held the middleweight crown seven years and made twelve successful defences – you have to look no further than his background to find an explanation for his unyielding attitude once he turned to boxing to make a living.
He was brought up with his brother and four sisters by his single mother in the toxic Newark, New Jersey, ghetto in the 1960’s.
During one of the worst race riots, when 46 people died, the Hagler family locked themselves in their apartment for three days to stay safe from the rioters and police marksmen.
One night as they all lay under a bed to escape, two stray bullets smashed through a window into the ceiling above them.
That was enough for Mrs Hagler. She took her kids to live in the tranquil environment of Brockton, Massachusetts, and that’s where the 15-year-old Marvin walked into the Petronelli’s gym and asked to be taught how to box.
The Petronelli’s had no idea they were about to strike gold. But they transformed the southpaw novice into one of the deadliest and most feared fighting machines ever to grace the sport.
When Hagler came to London in September 1980, his slashing punches cut Minter’s face to ribbons and he’d won the title in less than three rounds.
Shamefully, Hagler and his entourage were showered with beer bottles and glasses from racist fans and had to be escorted to his dressing room by a posse of police.

Hagler was one of the Four Kings – the other three were Roberto Duran, Tommy ‘Hitman’ Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard – who had nine incredible fights between them.
I was fortunate to cover seven of them. But I believe Marvin’s glittering career will always be defined by his clashes with Hearns and Leonard – both in Las Vegas.
The opening three minutes of his battle with Hearns will go down as arguably the greatest first round in history.
They launched themselves at each other like a couple of ravenous pitbulls who suddenly had the smell of raw meat in their nostrils. Every punch landed was thrown with bad intentions.
If they had been seen fighting like that in the street they would have been arrested and charged with Grievous Bodily Harm with intent.
As they went back to their corners, Hagler had an ugly gash over his left eye and Hearns was nursing his right hand, which he broke against Hagler’s bald skull.
Before Hagler finished Tommy off in round three, blood was pouring into his eyes. Referee Richard Steele in the middle of the action asked him “Can you see Marvin”.
Hagler’s memorable reply was “I’m not missing him am I?”
Leonard was considered deranged for tackling Hagler having had just one fight in five years.
But he outwitted and outboxed to win a shock split twelve round points decision and off he went with the title.

Marvin Hagler never fought again after his defeat to Sugar RayCredit: Getty Images – Getty

Hagler was convinced he’d been robbed by the judges and psychologically never recovered from that loss, never fighting again.
He certainly didn’t like Leonard and he regarded Sugar Ray, from a much softer lower middle-class background, as something of a dilettante.
Pat Petronelli said: “That defeat turned Marvin into a recluse for months.
“It shattered Marvin’s life. He became moody and depressed and he hasn’t been able to deal with it. He said he would take this to his grave. It’s more to him than death itself.”
I hope that was no longer true with the passing of time.
We will never know if Marvelous Marvin was the best middleweight ever. But he is certainly up there with Harry Greb, Sugar Ray Robinson and Carlos Monzon.

Tyson Fury shares picture of whisky and says he has ‘Sunday blues’ days after claiming he’s on ’12 pints of lager a day’

Fury, who hasn’t fought since knocking-out Deontay Wilder in February 2020, posed with a bottle of Glenfiddich earlier today.
He was smiling in the picture but the caption has worried some, while others claimed he is ‘playing mind games’.
The post comes after Fury claimed that he is drinking up to 12 pints of lager a day.
In an interview earlier this week, Fury was clearly frustrated that his mega-fight with Anthony Joshua has still not been signed.

He also claimed that he’ll never fight in the UK again and intends to see out his career in Las Vegas.
An eagerly anticipated bout between the two reigning heavyweight champions could be announced very shortly, with promoter Eddie Hearn hinting at a deal.
Fury has been in bullish mood, claiming he could give Joshua ‘a good hiding’ after 14 pints.
Should a fight between Fury and Joshua go ahead, it will be arguably the biggest in British boxing history.

Vasyl Lomachenko and Devin Haney in furious Twitter exchange as Bob Arum says he would welcome fight

BOXING promoter Bob Arum has revealed Vasyl Lomachenko’s next fight could be against WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney.
The Ukrainian recently became embroiled in a Twitter spat with Haney as he labelled the American youngster a ‘coward’.

And while Loma is coming off the back of a defeat to Teofimo Lopez, his promoter Arum is still willing to throw him straight in with the undefeated Haney.
Speaking to Barbershop Conversations, he said: “Loma vs Haney? That’s a fight we would certainly consider.
“That’d be a really good fight. There’s a lot of good fights for Loma…
“Loma can fight maybe Ryan Garcia. Or, if he wants to go down, maybe Oscar Valdez is a great match for Loma.”

Talk of a fight between Loma and Haney comes after the pair exchanged words on social media earlier this month.
Haney began proceedings by posting: “Where tf is Loma at!?!?!?”
Loma then replied with a rare tweet which read: “I’m here! I’m waiting for you cowards to decide on a real fight, and not on a Twitter fight.”

To which Loma responded: “Waiting is your favourite action, because you still haven’t fought with anyone.”

Joseph Parker link to international drug syndicate which he denies as AJ rival loses fight to keep his name from court

FORMER heavyweight champ Joseph Parker has been accused of having connections with an international drug ring.
The 29-year-old lost a two-year battle to keep his name suppressed from the public.

It is alleged by prosecutors that Parker played a role in the importation of methamphetamine by transporting and exchanging currency.
Parker has strongly denied involvement under oath and has never been charged by the police.
His statement made to the court read: “I have never changed or transported money for the defendants.
“I have never been involved in the purchase, supply or consumption of methamphetamine.”

Three men were found guilty in 2019 of importing meth from California to Auckland and the court believe Parker was connected in some form.
According to Fox Sports, the court alleges that Parker bought meth and spoke with the three men involved about the chances of finding a supplier.
Parker was also accused of exchanging currency on behalf of the convicted men.
One men of the men convicted, Tevita Sitanilei Kulu, was adjudged to have name-dropped Parker in a conversation with a supplier in California.

After his phone was seized by police, a message on his device read: “Alright bro..I got u tho..have all ur money..the dude I was with that’s on my snapchat is going to change it to U.S currency..
“They wont question him bout all the money..cause he’s the WOB boxing champion so pple know he rich anyways so he’ll be good to change it with no hassles [sic].”
As Parker lost his two-year battle to keep his involvement in the trial private, the Supreme Court judgment said ‘there is no dispute that publication would cause undue hardship to the applicant’ but ‘open justice’ must prevail.
He is one of the biggest sporting names in New Zealand and held the WBO heavyweight title from 2016 to 2018.
He was undefeated for 24 fights until he lost his title to Anthony Joshua in 2018.
Parker last fought in February, taking a points victory over Junior Fa.
