Ricky Hatton recalls his drab boxing debut in Widnes as son Campbell prepares for first pro fight in Gibraltar sunshine

RICKY HATTON will watch son Campbell make his PPV primetime debut in sun-soaked Gibraltar and laugh at his own midnight Widnes wash-out.The 19-year-old starlet makes his pro bow on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s must-win rematch with Alexander Povetkin, 24 years after his old man’s far more modest intro.

Campbell, now managed by Anthony Joshua’s 258 team, has spent a week in a luxury yacht covid-bubble and will box in front of 500 vaccinated fans and around 300,000 on box office at home.
And, a quarter-of-a-century after The Hitman’s first paid assignment, he smiles at how times have changed.
“I certainly didn’t get a debut like this,” Ricky roared. “Mine was in Widnes boxing in front of about nine people.
“It was a four-round float fight used to fill any gaps but every single fight went the distance.
“So instead of going on at 8pm I was on at half midnight and the only people there were my mum and dad and the fella sweeping up to close.
“As I was boxing I can remember the cleaners and caretaker picking up and stacking the chairs while I am trying to fight.
“I wasn’t even on the poster!

Campbell is on the poster, the programme, the TV, radio and newspapers as the cheeky chip-off-the-block son of a national hero.
Instead of trying to deny or ignore the pressure, the teenage father to daughter Lyla is harnessing the fanfare and focus in a bid to impress his first real crowd.
He said: “I am a bit nervous because there is a bit of pressure and there will be a lot of eyes on me but I am trying to use that to my advantage.
“I am going to use it as an added bit of motivation and feel like I cannot afford to put in a bad performance.

“I am feeling the spotlight, it isn’t something I have ever felt before and it is going to take a bit of getting used to.
“But I feel like I am handling it quite well and there is so much going on that it’s probably helping with my nerves a little bit.
“The boat and everything else is acting like a bit of a distraction and occupying my mind a bit, so it’s helpful and I am using it to my advantage.”

Father and son are ready for the Twitter trolls to pile in on Campbell for getting a leg-up in the hurt business.
But both know that the extra pressure and scepticism the fighting family name will bring are ready to roll with the punches.
“I am very proud of my son, not even because he has turned professional, just because of the person he is,” Ricky said.
“I know people will say being my son has opened doors for him but it has also brought unnecessary pressure going into the hardest game in the world so I think you have to give the little fella a pat on the back.”

What was the Amir Khan sex tape scandal and what did Faryal Makhdoom say about it?
A clip of the Olympic boxer wearing a T-shirt and boxer shorts while performing a sex act on himself was released online in January 2017.
The footage shows the famous sporting face in conversation with a female model through the video call service Skype.
It is said to have been made weeks after he married Faryal Makhdoom.
Despite being said to be “disgusted” by the leak, she back the boxer, taking to Snapchat to share pictures of him training ahead of his next fight.
The woman in the footage is thought to be from Arizona, US.
She is thought to have first had a fling with the former world champion in 2010.
During an interview on ITV’s This Morning, he said: “I love my wife, and I love my family. The marriage is brilliant, it’s going really well.
“Everything is fine between with us.”
Faryal added: “It’s just the past that’s coming back to try and bring us down.
“But our focus is now the next fight.”

But privately Faryal was said to be “absolutely disgusted” by the tape.
Following their public split when Khan accused her of cheating on him, she appeared to revisit the sex tape scandal.
She said: “Actually trying to ruin someone’s life like this is a low blow. Especially someone who’s been there through every cheating scandal and stuck by your side when your own parents screwed your over.
“It’s ok. I’ll stay quiet. I won’t let YOUR dirty laundry out in the public. Because I’m better than that.”How does the Skype trap work?
Celebrities are approached on social media by a profile which shows an image of an attractive woman.
If the targeted man follows the woman in return, she will send a direct message suggesting webcam sex.
They then use a video call service, usually Skpe.
The pair will call each other and the video is secretly recorded while the celebrity performs sex acts.
Videos are then sent to an anonymous drop box before being uploaded to porn sites.

Who else has had their videos leaked to porn websites?
As well as Amir Khan and Louis Smith, The Sun revealed that an international X-rated website published intimate videos of 2008 Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson, 23, and current Celebrity Big Brother contestant Calum Best, 35.
Gold medallist diver Chris Mears, Coronation Street’s Shayne Ward, ex-Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ben Cohen, The Only Way Is Essex star Kirk Norcross and X Factor hunk Sam Callahan also had intimate recordings put online.
Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson is one of many celebrities who has had their sex tape posted online
Olympic silver medallist Louis Smith also had an X-rated video of him performing a sex act on webcam made public.
The X-rated video, first revealed in 2012, resurfaced after celebrity sex tape specialist Celebrity Busted had one of their accounts hacked.
Louis was suspended from gymnastics after The Sun revealed a video of him and a pal mocking Islam while at a boozy wedding.
British Olympian Louis Smith has also had X-rated clip published to a porn site
Celebrity Busted, a website which specialises in celebrity sex tapes, posted links to leaked videos of British reality stars including Celebrity Big Brother’s Stephen Bear, Charlie Healy from X Factor band The Risk and The Apprentice candidate James Hill.
All the celebrities in the videos are engaging in solo sex acts while in a two-way conversation with female glamour models who are not identified in the online postings. More

Dillian Whyte comes in half a stone lighter for Alexander Povetkin but admits it was by ACCIDENT and ‘not deliberate’

DILLIAN WHYTE insists his weight loss is not part of the plan to get swift revenge on Alexander Povetkin. The 32-year-old Brixton ace was knocked out cold by the Russian last August and has taken the rerun to red-hot Gibraltar.

Whyte was 18st for the original clash in Eddie Hearn’s Essex garden, where he looked razor sharp scoring two early knockdowns.
And he insists the 5lbs he has shipped – to weigh in at 17st 9lbs – is just a result of brutal training sessions in his six-month Portugal camp.
“I’ve come in half-a-stone lighter,” he said after stripping off. “It wasn’t deliberate. Just small adjustments. I expect a tough 12-round fight.
“Every time I step into the ring I give my all. This is nothing different. You can create pressure in yourself if you start listening to people.
“I will stop him. Don’t expect me to come out and be wild because there are ways of doing things; fight him, be physical, box him. But I am looking for the stoppage.
“We have different ways of pressing him. Standing in front, but not being in front of him, using angles and my legs.”
Povetkin, who battled a serious case of Covid-19 that delayed the bout, put 4lbs on since the summer and looked a little fleshy.

But the 41-year-old former world and Olympic champion remains full of surprises and claims he is planning something stunning again.
“My goal is to be focused on the fight and show beautiful boxing, that’s it,” the Soviet slugger said.
“It will be beautiful, interesting boxing. That’s what I can say.”
The two heavyweight headliners came face to face for the first time again at the press conference, a day before their weigh in.
And Whyte joked he contemplated pushing Povetkin and promoter Eddie Hearn into the water, before thinking better of it.

He told iFL TV: “I was thinking about, I swear to god, it crossed my mind.
“It crossed my mind. I was thinking of pushing Eddie in and then pushing Povetkin in. I was thinking about it.
“But I was thinking I already get another giff online, I don’t think I need anymore.
“I was thinking of pushing Eddie Hearn and Povetkin in. And tell them, ‘You two are fish, swim together’.”

Alexander Povetkin hits back at Dillian Whyte’s doubts that Russian actually had Covid-19 and has documents to prove it

ALEXANDER POVETKIN said he has the documents to prove he had Covid-19 after Dillian Whyte raised doubts about the Russian’s medical record. The heavyweight pair were set for a rematch in November after Povetkin’s stunning fifth round knockout last August.

But the fight faced several delays as Povetkin’s health was hampered by coronavirus, restricting his training.
Whyte, 32, doubted if he really had the illness, telling Sky Sports in November: “I personally don’t think he’s got Covid.
“I think he just needed more time to get ready, because he took a lot of damage in the first fight.
“After the first fight, he took a lot of time off. Even though I got stopped, I went straight back to training and I got straight back on it.”
But Povetkin, 41, responded by revealing he sent proof of his illness to promoter Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing staff.
He said, through his translator: “He can think and [say] whatever he wants, but we have the papers.
“We have documents with different analyses and the results. We actually sent it to Matchroom. So, this is not a case for discussion.”
Both the headliners arrived in Gibraltar ahead of their pay-per-view rematch and faced off for the first time again at the press conference.

And Povetkin made sure to insist he had fully recovered following his fight with Covid-19.
He explained: “I don’t feel any effects of coronavirus. I’m training well. The camp was good. I didn’t think about that at all.”
Whyte is fighting to win back his WBC mandatory status for Tyson Fury’s crown, with a win putting him right back into title contention.
But another defeat could be catastrophic, and Hearn revealed Whyte is ruthlessly all business ahead of his must-win rematch.

He said: “He wants to hurt Povetkin, for the first fight Dillian was in his Winnebago, he was all friendly, we played a bit of cricket.
“He doesn’t want that now. He has told me he doesn’t want to be around Povetkin, he doesn’t want to be bumping into him and saying hello.
“It was a bit awkward last time with the Holiday Inn but we had no choice.
“I wouldn’t say he got too comfortable, but when you have come from nothing and started making a load of money, and life changes, he is probably not as nasty as he was coming through.
“I think he has flipped a switch in the build up to this one. He is a bit shorter with people, he has that kind of mentality again.”

Oleksandr Usyk’s team warn Anthony Joshua fight with Tyson Fury could be AXED and he will fight AJ instead

OLEKSANDR USYK’S manager has urged Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to agree on a date and venue or his client will land his WBO title shot. The Gypsy King and AJ have a £200million two-fight deal in what is one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.

The heavyweight showdown will determine who is the undisputed champion of the world with five title belts at stake.
But they are still locked in negotiations for a date and venue with eight potential destinations being considered.
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has already mentioned Las Vegas, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Russia, China, Singapore and Wembley Stadium for the first summer brawl.
Usyk, 34, is the current interim champ for the WBO title belt following his win over Derek Chisora in October.
He has been lined up for a vacant title fight with Joe Joyce but Usyk is eager to hold off any deal as they await to see the outcome of Fury vs AJ.
If they fail to find a venue in the next few weeks, their British blockbuster could collapse meaning the WBO could order AJ to make his mandatory defence against Usyk.
The Ukrainian’s manager told Usachev TV: “At the moment everything depends on the WBO.
“Joshua and Fury seem to have agreed between themselves, but there is no location and date.

“Oleksandr is the mandatory challenger for the WBO title.
“If they do not finalize the details or there is no date, the sanctioning body is obligated to order Usyk a fight with Joshua.
“If the WBO tells Joshua to box with Usyk, it won’t be for a vacant title [like the fight with Joyce], there would be four titles at stake.”
If Fury vs Joshua does go ahead with their two-fight deal, it is likely Usyk or Joyce will be handed the WBO title belt.

Watch Dillian Whyte throwback clip of brutal MMA KO amid feud with UFC aces Francis Ngannou and Stipe Miocic

DILLIAN WHYTE conducted a savage MMA knockout in a throwback video posted online by the heavyweight boxer. The Body Snatcher, 32, may have made a name for himself inside the boxing ring over the last decade.

The Brixton star landed a savage right hook on Mark Stroud inside the first 12 secondsCredit: https://www.instagram.com/dillianwhyte/
But before that he had a brief stint in kickboxing and mixed martial arts.
As well as becoming British and European kickboxing champion with a 20-1 record, Whyte also had one pro MMA fight.
And it lasted just 12 seconds.
He demolished Mark Stroud with a stunning KO punch at the Ultimate Challenge MMA 1: Bad Breed event in December 2008.
Sharing the clip on his Instagram page last year, the Brixton star wrote: “Have been laying em out from an early age across all different style who want it can get it simple.”

Writing exclusively for SunSport having called out Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou, he revealed his plans to conquer the UFC world.
He said: “Reigning WBC and UFC heavyweight champion of the world has a nice ring to it.
“I have not trained in kickboxing or MMA for a while but, for me, it is like riding a bike.
“Once I knock off some of the rust, my instincts come rushing back and I am ready to dominate again.
“The heavyweight guys over there, champion Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou, are elite and I would have to work on my grappling and wrestling.
“But I know, standing up and boxing in 4oz gloves, I could knock ANY of their top-ten heavyweights out.
“I would need time to get my MMA conditioning back because it is totally different to boxing where, if you are clever, you can take time in the three minute rounds.

“In these cages it is five-minute rounds of non-stop moving, kicking, punching, wrestling — it is no joke.
“But I have better hand skills than any of them and because they try to cover a lot of aspects, that leaves a lot of holes in their game.
“The guys at the top, like Miocic and Ngannou, come from boxing but weren’t good enough to make it as pro boxers — as they could have made more money — they would usually want to stand up.”
But next up for Whyte is a revenge mission against Alexander Povetkin in a rematch with the Russian later this year.

Tyson Fury once sent ‘concerned text’ to Dillian Whyte and ‘looked after’ rival but was ‘repaid with BS tweets’

TYSON FURY sent what he described as a “concerned text” to Dillian Whyte in 2019 – and said he “looked after” his rival only to be “repaid with BS tweets”.Whyte, 32, blasted Fury on Twitter, calling him a “Gypsy Coward” and claimed he left the WBC champion “pathetically sobbing on the canvas” during sparring.
Tyson Fury is embroiled in a Twitter feud with Dillian Whyte
This is the text Fury claims he sent to Whyte
But the Gypsy King, 32, hit back by posting a text he says he sent Whyte after the heavyweight laboured past Mariusz Wach in Saudi Arabia on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s rematch win against Andy Ruiz Jr.
Fury tweeted: “This is a text I sent @dillianwhyte back in December after his fight with Wach, I was concerned about him so I reached out to him.
“And this is how people treat you when your (sic) nice to them!!”
At the time the Brixton puncher had only just been cleared of any doping charges by United Kingdom Anti Doping, after it was revealed an ‘adverse finding’ emerged in his pre-fight drug test before beating Oscar Rivas last July.
Whyte lost his position as WBC mandatory with Fury going on to replace him and beat Deontay Wilder for the belt.
Fury claimed he realised Whyte was frustrated, and texted him encouraging words.
But the Gypsy King says this is not the first time he has helped out the British heavyweight while he was embroiled in a doping scandal.
Whyte was in 2012 banned for two years after testing positive for a banned substance, which he later proved came from a tainted supplement.

Fury claimed he hired the suspended heavyweight as a sparring partner while he was on the sidelines to financially help Whyte out.
He said: “And by the way when he was out on a ban years ago I kept him going with bringing him in to my camps sparing (sic) and paying him and looking after him like egg in a cake & this is how I’m repaid with BS tweets.
“There is a saying people take kindness for a weakness. & another men meet before mountains.”
Whyte responded to Fury’s picture: “Luke the fake professional victim looking for more attention stop running & fight me you coward.”
