Dillian Whyte regrets swapping shorts with Povetkin after realising they are not as expensive as his £1,500 pair

The two men exchanged shorts after the bout but the British superstar hinted that he regrets it because his opponent’s trunks don’t look as expensive as his £1,500 pair.
Whyte told Sky Sports immediately after the swap: “Mine cost a lot.
“Mine’s about £1,500 to make, this doesn’t check as that much to me.”
This comes after Whyte slammed promoter Eddie Hearn for handing him the ‘old’ version of the WBC belt in Gibraltar.
During his post-fight media duties, The Body Snatcher was offered the strap by Hearn but instantly took issue with what he received.

The 32-year-old bruiser demanded the special ‘diamond’ strap instead.
Whyte told Hearn: “This ain’t the ‘diamond’ belt. No it’s not.
“The one we fought for, they have swapped the belt. This is the old WBC belt.”
The WBC ‘diamond’ belt that Whyte referred to appears to have been either kept by Povetkin or is still in the hands of the World Boxing Council.
The WBC previously described that strap as an ‘honorary championship’.

A statement said: “In 2009, the WBC created its new ‘diamond championship’ belt.
“The belt was originally created as an honorary championship exclusively to award the winner of a historic fight between two high-profile and elite boxers.
“The ‘diamond’ belt was awarded in November 2009 to Manny Pacquiao, who won his sixth world title (in five different divisions) via a twelfth-round technical knockout over Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas.
“The title can be defended, but it is not a mandatory requirement. The title can also be vacated due to a fighter’s long-term absence or retirement from boxing.”

But the duo were then rushed to hospital having both suffered battered and bruised faces.
ESPN reporter Ariel Helwani confirmed Jedrzejczyk was discharged from hospital with no significant injuries.

Khan, 34, and Sheffield-born Brook, also 34, have been rivals for years but never agreed to terms for a domestic blockbuster.
And Khan told talkSPORT that he’s pushing for the fight to happen this summer, albeit with seemingly limited success.
He said: “What’s the fight that everyone wants to see?
“Everyone wants to see the Kell Brook fight. We’ve been talking about it for years and years.
“Look, me and Kell are probably past our best, I’ll be honest. But at the same time, we’re both around the same age.
“I think it’d be a good fight between us to see still who the number one is in Britain.”
Khan added: “So I called Eddie Hearn and I said ‘let’s make it happen’.
“Eddie said ‘no worries’, spoke to Kell’s family and Kell’s father wasn’t interested in it. He said ‘no, we’re gonna look at other options’.

“What other option is there for Kell Brook to make a good payday and fight someone with a big name like myself? Unless he fights someone with a world title or in America.
“So I’m scratching my head man, I’m thinking like, ‘What’s he going through?’
“What’s going on with Kell Brook? How come he doesn’t want the fight? Let’s make it happen.”
Khan insisted that he would quit the sport after a potential showdown with Brook, and even gave a fight prediction.

The 34-year-old said: “The only two fights out there for me in my opinion is Kell Brook or Manny Pacquiao.
“Otherwise – I’ve been in the game a long time and when you’ve been in training camp after training camp and having almost 40 fights now.
“So I am giving it the last, last chapter of my boxing career. I get either fight and I call it a day…

Inside Aaron Chalmers’ 3,000 calories a day diet as Geordie Shore star moves from MMA to pro boxing

AARON CHALMERS is being fuelled with a 3,000 calories a day diet as he prepares to move from MMA to professional boxing. The Geordie Shore star leaves the cage with a 5-2 record and will enter the ring with two knockouts to his name.
Aaron Chalmers 3,000 calories a day diet
Helping him in his journey is the team of chef Omar Meziane and sports nutritionist Mike Naylor, who together own meal prep provider Tweakd.
Meziane and Naylor work with Chalmers’ gym-mates Josh Kelly and Michael Conlan.
And there they formed a partnership with the ex-reality TV favourite, who stresses the importance of a healthy and strict nutrition plan.
Chalmers, 33, said: “Diet is crucial towards my training.
“Eating the right foods, at the right time ensures that I have enough energy to not only get me through my session, but also to support with my recovery.
“It’s more than just healthy eating – it’s eating appropriately at the right time.
“You can eat all the salads in the world, but that won’t help you build muscle or in the run up to a fight when you need slow releasing energy to see you through.”
A regular day will see Chalmers consume bircher muesli for breakfast with a watermelon juice to wash it down.

And for lunch, Oregano roasted chicken with milanese sauce, pasta and lentils with vegetables is usually on the menu.
A post-workout snack is normally Chicken gyoza with soy or Thai chicken kebab skewers with dip.
Dinner comes in the form of chargrill steak with hot potato salad and vegetables as well as banana bread for a snack.
Naylor, an undergrad in sports nutrition and science, recommends eating three hours before training, with a snack 60 minutes before the session.
He explained: “Before training you want a bit of time for your food to digest.
“We want to actually fuel the training to get the most out of it, with carbohydrates to maximize the amount of fuel to get the most out of your training.
Aaron Chalmers is switching from MMA to boxingCredit: @flysportsuk
“But we want to provide them in an easily digestible format, so they’re not just sitting on your stomach for a long period of time.”
The calorie count for any fighter can vary on weight, but also on their type of training schedule.
Naylor said: “We’ll usually periodise the amount of calories and carbohydrates to go with the training.
“But it can range from anywhere from the likes of 1,600 calories a day ranging up to the big training days which will go closer to 3,000 calories.
“So it might not be as big as some of the heavier clients we feed which is 5,000 calories, but still you’re looking at around 3,000 calories on some of the more intense training days.”
Despite Aaron switching codes, a diet plan is not one-size-fits-all for each sport, instead changing depending on the person.

Naylor added: “It’s not necessarily between the sports, it’s between the individuals.
“And when you look at the people you work with, and their preference on flavour and taste, that’s where a lot of the differences come in, rather than the actual sport they compete in.”
Naylor and Meziane, who has a cook book with James Haskell, met 12 years ago while working for London Wasps rugby side.
Now, they cater to 30 different athletes, in football, rugby, rowing, athletics, as well as F1 and even travelled to the World Cup with England in 2018.
They say their most popular dish is a crispy chilli Chinese dish and Meziane opens up on the secrets to making the takeaway meal fighter-friendly.
He revealed: “Rather than deep frying it, like you’d get in a Chinese restaurant, we bake it until it becomes really, really crispy.

Omar Meziane owns meal prep service Tweakd with Mike Naylor
“Then we have an incredible homemade chilli jam that we make and we coat it in that with loads of fresh chilli and ginger.
“And that’s kind of everyone’s go-to at the moment.”
With fighters confronted with gruelling hours in the gym, rest and recovery is another vital part of their regime.
Meaning having the luxury of their meals being taken care of gives them one less thing to think about while in training camp.
Chalmers said: “Tweakd have been brilliant for me. They provide me with weekly meal programmes which are tailored to my training and goals.
“The food is absolutely delicious and is a much better size than anything I have had before.
“Mike and Omar really get my needs and the food is spot on for my goals.”

Whyte claims he ‘bashed’ Tyson Fury in sparring and ‘dropped him multiple times’ but Gypsy King remembers it differently

DILLIAN WHYTE claimed he ‘bashed’ Tyson Fury around in sparring and ‘dropped him on multiple occasions’.The Brixton ace returned to the heavyweight division title picture with a brilliant rematch victory over Alexander Povetkin on Saturday.

The Gypsy King slammed the Body Snatcher as a liar as he denied those claimsCredit: Reuters
He knocked out the Russian in Gibraltar in the fourth to gain revenge for his brutal defeat in August.
Despite him regaining the WBC interim belt, it looks like the 32-year-old Body Snatcher may still face a lengthy wait for his first world-title shot.
Champs Anthony Joshua and Fury have already agreed a whopping £200m two-fight deal to unify the division.
Whyte has been in this position before and it appears he is sick of waiting around, jokingly saying he would break AJ’s legs in order to take his place against the Gypsy King.
And he has every confidence he can become the first man to beat Fury after allegedly flooring him already.
Speaking during a previous appearance on The Boxing Show on Sky Sports News, he said: “He’s the one that come out and said he beat me up in the gym and stuff like that. I can tell you now, that didn’t happen.
“I don’t like telling sparring stories, but people in the game know. They know about me.
“Well, me and Tyson Fury sparred and I bashed him about and dropped him on multiple occasions. Simple as that.

“If I was such an easy fight, why is he not in any rush to fight me? He said before beating Wilder, ‘When I beat Wilder, I’m going to give Dillian Whyte his title shot.’ He just talks rubbish. This is war, let’s go.”
The Body Snatcher added: “It makes me angry and it frustrates me because Tyson Fury refused to fight me in a mandated fight for the WBC diamond belt.
“And they took my mandatory position away and gave it to Tyson Fury after he fought Otto Wallin who was ranked around 1,000,000 in the world.
“It’s a joke, how can he fight Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallin and then be the WBC mandatory contender after I have been beating top-ten guys back-to-back?
The Body Snatcher is desperate for his shot at Tyson FuryCredit: REX
Dillian Whyte knocked out Alexander Povetkin in the fourth to gain revenge on Saturday for his shock August lossCredit: Mark Robinson Matchroom Boxing
“The fans and the boxing world need to put pressure on the WBC and Tyson Fury to fight me next, it’s a joke.
“I have been risking the No1 position since 2017, I have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds in sanctioning fees and won every WBC belt I have been eligible for and beaten two former world champions. It’s my turn.”
However, Fury seems to have a different recollection of events between him and Whyte and called the Londoner out as a liar.
He told BT Sport: “Dillian Whyte is a bum, untrue. Dillian Whyte couldn’t drop his granny, never mind the ‘Gypsy King.
“Who has Dillian Whyte ever dropped, Lucas Browne…please. Who else, who has he ever dropped?
“I’ve never seen him drop anyone.
“He even had to cheat Dereck Chisora out of a fight, grabbing him and holding him because Eddie Hearn told him to. What a bum…useless!”

How Floyd Mayweather took Anthony Joshua under his wing in Vegas and is preparing to work with him for Tyson Fury fight

ANTHONY JOSHUA and Floyd Mayweather have formed a friendship in recent years – which could now see them working alongside each other. Mayweather first reached out to AJ in 2016 when the heavyweight was in Rio for the Olympics, but their schedules did not line up.

The following year, they met at a meet and greet event for fans, and struck a bond.
When Joshua beat Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017, the pair were set to rematch in Las Vegas.
So AJ took a break out in Sin City, and after Mayweather found out, he hosted the British superstar and gave him behind the scenes access as he prepared to fight UFC star Conor McGregor.
    VEGAG RENDEZVOUS
Joshua’s camp manager David Ghansa told the Daily Mail: “It was a holiday but we were also out there looking for training bases.
“While we were out there we got a message from Mayweather asking what hotel we were staying at.
“We told him and all of a sudden, maybe an hour after, he was in the underground car park with all his mates and loads of Rolls Royces.
“The hotel desk called our room and said Floyd is waiting for you in the car park.
“It was crazy. From that point on he basically hosted us for the rest of our time there.

“We went to nightclubs with him and he even closed off his gym so we could watch him spar.
“He was preparing to fight Conor McGregor at the time and it was just an unbelievable experience.”
    RINGSIDE SEAT
Joshua’s rematch with Klitschko never materialised, and Mayweather beat McGregor in ten rounds, retiring afterwards.
The two had not seen each other since then, until this December when AJ beat Kubrat Pulev at Wembley Arena.
Mayweather, 44, was a surprise guest ringside after calling at the last minute.
Ghansa recalled: “On the day of the Pulev fight I got a FaceTime call at 1am. I didn’t recognise the number but I answered it anyway.
“It was Floyd and he was like: ‘Where’s Anthony?’ I was like, ‘It’s 1am and he is fighting today!’
Anthony Joshua in Floyd Mayweather’s gym
“He’d just touched down and asked if he could come to the fight.
“He’d had his Covid tests and everything so we managed to sort out a ticket for him at the last minute.”
    NEW TRAINER?
Joshua’s win has set him up with a super-fight against rival Tyson Fury, 32, for the undisputed titles.
And Mayweather – who announced plans to become a trainer last year after the death of his uncle and former coach Roger – claimed he would be working with AJ.
He told entrepreneur Rob Moore: “I look forward to working with Anthony Joshua real soon, we communicate all the time, we talk all the time.
“I’ve met Tyson Fury on a few occasions, great guy, very interesting, after the fight I like to see him sing.
“I haven’t seen him fight a lot of times, I’ve seen him fight probably only twice. I’ve only seen Tyson Fury fight twice, against Deontay Wilder.

“It’s a very intriguing match-up, you can never say what’s going to happen in the sport of boxing.
“Both guys are great competitors. Like I say, me and Anthony Joshua talk on the regular, so I look forward to working with Anthony Joshua.”
It is not yet clear the capacity in which Mayweather will help out Joshua, 31.
Head trainer Robert McCracken has led AJ to both Olympic gold and unified heavyweight titles.
And Joshua has his own management stable, 258.
But there would not be too many better advisors than Mayweather, who has beaten the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya.
