It came at a crucial time in the 17-0 man’s career after he crept into world title contention with a string of eye-catching wins.
And he has been allowed to swerve the late-night feeds so trainer Tony Sims gets the best out of him.
Benn said: “I thought the baby was going to come late but it came early.
“I’ve actually been training since January 1, so that’s a long camp.
“I managed to have three days off when the baby arrived and then I was back in the gym. I’ve managed to stay well away from the sleepless nights though. I’ve been sleeping like a trooper.
“My missus has been great with baby Eli, which has been such a blessing.

“I’ve got a good set of earplugs and an eye mask and I’m in cuckoo land, I’m off to sleep.”
Benn has now left his Essex home for a week-long coronavirus bubble at a hotel next to Wembley Arena, where the fight takes place.
There, the Brit’s focus will be on his opponent, a well respected 31-year-old Colombian veteran.
He will also be free to let his designer stubble grow back. Asked why his trademark whiskers had gone, he said: “It shows I mean business now.
“I’ve done the hard work, a hard camp, and I’m ready to fight.
“The baby doesn’t like the moustache on his face when I am kissing him.
I’m not here for a long time, I’m here for a good time.Conor Benn

“You could say I am a bit of a softie at home. I just take all the aggression out in the gym.”
Benn, already a savvy businessman, will not be hanging around once he has achieved his boxing ambitions.
He added: “I’m not here for a long time, I’m here for a good time.
“I just have to achieve the world title once, however long it takes, and I will be a very happy man.”

Ruiz Jr weighed in over a stone heavier for his second fight against AJ as he ballooned to over 20 stone.
That was to be his last bout with Manny Robles in his corner, as he linked up with Saul Alvarez’s trainer Eddy Reynoso last year.
And he is looking in great shape, with the Mexican-American already shedding over three stone for his comeback dust-up against Arreola.

“I look back right now and I’m like ‘Damn, if I would’ve stayed dedicated, if I would’ve stayed disciplined and do the right things that I was supposed to do…’
“And that was the most important fight of my life… but now it’s totally different. Now I got my mind right, I got a great trainer, so we’re just ready for May 1.”

A trilogy fight with old foe Tyson has been in the works for some time, with May 29 the reported date for their third encounter.
And Evander Jr has offered to give the former WBA and IBF heavyweight champ some work before he renews his rivalry with Iron Mike.
The super-welterweight told The Metro: “I was trying to get down to Florida to him.
“I said, ‘Let me get some rounds in with you!’ At least one.
“That’s a bucket list thing man, I just want one sparring round with him at least before [the fight].
“If this fight doesn’t go though I’ve got to at least get it before he gets out of shape.

“I only want one round, that’s how good he’s looking. That’s how good shape he is in.”
Tyson recently rubbished claims he rejected the offer to share the ring with his old rival, saying: “I just want everybody to know, the fight is on with me and Holyfield.
    “Holyfield’s a humble man, I know that. And he’s a man of God, but I’m God’s man.
“And, listen, I’m going to be successful on May 29th.”
Evan, like many others, is eager to see the pair run it back again, adding: “I hope it’s the fight that is being made.

“It would be great fight to watch, to watch them go at it all over again.
“Hopefully they can get it all ironed out.
“The only thing holding up the fight, and this is just me just guessing, is somebody wanted to be paid more than the other.
“One person is like, ‘I’m bringing the money to the table’ and the other person is like, ‘I beat you twice.’
“That’s probably the simplicity of the whole thing, money.”

David Haye insists he would have beaten ‘baby’ Tyson Fury in 2013 clash and reveals how he’d have won ‘perfect storm’

FORMER heavyweight champion David Haye is adamant he would have got the better of Tyson Fury had their 2013 meeting not fallen through.A cut in his final sparring session scuppered Haye’s domestic dust-up with The Gypsy King in September 2013.

But a cut above his left eye scuppered the fight
The fight was rescheduled for the following February but Haye was forced to withdraw from the contest due to a shoulder injury, much to the frustration of Fury.
Although he never ended up sharing the ring with Fury, Haye firmly believes he would’ve put a beating on the current WBC king.
When asked how he would’ve dealt with Fury, Haye told Sky Sports: “Using my speed, using my punch power.”
Haye reckons the then 24-year-old Fury would’ve floundered under the big lights.
He continued: “Back then in 2013, I believe it was, Tyson Fury wasn’t the fighter he is today.
“He was very young, he was very inexperienced. He wasn’t as teak-tough as he is now.

“He hadn’t been through the trials and tribulations that’s made him the man and fighter he is today.”
To this day, the heavy-handed Haye firmly believes one of his trademark Hayemaker’s would’ve put Fury out cold.
He said: “It would have been the perfect bit of matchmaking on my fight, if I was able to get him.
    “A baby, in boxing terms.
“He had been heavily knocked down by a non-punching cruiserweight in Steve Cunningham, so it was a perfect storm for me, but the fight didn’t happen.

“I got a cut before the fight and it never took place.”
Fury is currently gearing up for his long-awaited undisputed heavyweight title fight with Anthony Joshua.
A two-fight deal was agreed last June, with the first of the pair’s meetings expected to take place in the summer.
And Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn has claimed the long-awaited Battle of Britain will be announced in the coming days.
He said: “We always had a time frame in place in the agreement that everybody signed.

“That can be extended but it’s not the intention to extend it and we are all working to that time frame.
“Really, I think by end of next week it will be done.
“We can’t wait. AJ has started his training camp and Fury has been training very hard. They all want the fight.
“They are going to be presented with a few proposals on where to do the fight and everyone has to agree on where to do it.
“There is no other fight out there that comes close for either guy. July is the date.
“The world tour is going well but I’m not answering any questions on that and I won’t tell you where I’ve been.”

Even the self-proclaimed ‘Greatest’ in Muhammad Ali held Robinson in the highest regard.
The late Ali said of the six-time world champion: “That man was beautiful.
“Timing, speed, reflexes, rhythm, his body, everything was beautiful.
“I’d say I’m the greatest heavyweight of all time, but pound-for-pound, I still say Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest of all time.”
Like Ali, former undisputed heavyweight champion Tyson holds Robinson in the highest esteem.
And so great was Iron Mike’s admiration of Robinson – who had a staggering 200 professional fights – he ran ten miles after meeting his idol.

During a recent episode of his Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast, he recalled: “I met Sugar Ray Robinson.
“I kept walking in front of him and his bodyguard said, ‘Chill out.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not chilling out. What you do mean chill out?
“‘It’s a free country, I can walk [wherever I want].’
“So he started walking and saw that his body guard and me started having a little altercation and he said, ‘Stop.’
“He came over, he was telling me, he said, ‘You should run.

“‘Make sure you’re always in shape. I left the arena from the fight and I ran ten miles.
“I left the arena and I was just f**ked up about fighting. You were too, all of us were.”
To this day, Tyson doesn’t know how Robinson’s words of wisdom had such a profound effect on him.
He later added: “Listen, I’m a lazy n***a. How’d that guy get me to do that?
“Do you know what I mean? Made me go and [run ten miles].”

Tyson is no stranger to eulogising the late Robinson, asking NBA star Damian Lillard earlier this year: “Have you ever watched Sugar Ray Robinson?
    “Wasn’t he amazing?
“Listen right, Sugar Ray Robinson had 40 fights, he went 40-0. And then he lose one fight.
“After he lost that one fight, he went 80 fights undefeated. The record was like [128-1].”

Mayweather, 44, retired a perfect 50-0 and was famed for his masterful style, switching from aggressor to defensive genius during his career.
And Leonard, a five-division champion, gave his insight on how he would try and fight the all-time great.
He said: “How to beat Floyd Mayweather? There is no one way to beat Floyd.
“I would have to pull out all my tools and figure out, get a feel. A lot of feints, body shots.”
So dominant was Mayweather, he was only caught flush a handful of times.
But Mosley was one of the few to connect clean and give himself a chance of beating the unbeaten icon.
In round two of their Las Vegas bout, Mayweather was twice rocked from a right hook, but used all his experience to ride the wave.
He went on to recover, and soundly outboxed Mosley to go the full 12-rounds and run away with the win on points.

But still it will be remembered as the moment Mayweather was put on his heels.
Mosley, 49, recalled: “Floyd is really quick, technical and he felt more youthful, like I couldn’t really get to him.
“He made the mistake of trying to… he believed that I couldn’t hurt him.
“So he was like I’m gonna stay in the pocket, I’m going to fight. I’m going to stay right here and pick him off.
“And then when I caught him, then you see Roger and all them, ‘Man, what are you doing? You don’t sit there, you better box him’.
“So he started using his boxing ability and movement an stuff like that. But he didn’t think I could hit him that hard.”
