    FRAMPTON RETIRES
“Boxing has been good to me, but I want to go home to my beautiful wife and kids. I want to dedicate my life to them,” Frampton says.
“I got beat by the better man. He’s sharp, shooting from a distance.
“I had an amazing camp, but I was beaten by the better man. He’s the champion, interview him.”
    HEARTBREAK
Great stoppage in there from Jamel Herring, but a heartbreaking night for Carl Frampton.
ROUND SIX – HERRING STOPS FRAMPTON!
Another big left hand from Herring puts Frampton onto his back foot.
And Frampton goes DOWN again! Wow. Big round for Herring here!
He stops Frampton! Wow. HUGE win for Jamel Herring!
ROUND FIVE – FRAMPTON GOES DOWN!
We have a new variable here in round five. Herring’s cut. It doesn’t look good but he’s continuing to battle.
Frampton has a better round, making it dirty in there, landing on the inside. Left to the body from the Northern Irishman but he walks onto a left hand and Frampton is DOWN!
Herring gets a breakthrough there. It’s a flash knockdown. But that shows the danger in trying to make it on the inside. He got caught coming in did Frampton.
Battle on the inside this has turned into. But that’s a big 10-8 for Frampton.
    ROUND FOUR
If Frampton is going to win this, he needs Herring to make mistakes. And at the moment, that doesn’t look like happening.
Frampton does manage to get inside in the fourth, however, as he cuts Herring which what could’ve been a big right hand.
Herring snarls back with rights of his own in a much livelier fourth round here. That looks a bad cut for the American.
Frampton definitely getting a more favourable reaction this round. But Herring again comes back with big shots of his own.
    ROUND THREE
So two rounds for Herring so far. Frampton, at some point, is going to look to come in as quickly as possible. He needs to get inside.
But he’s having real trouble doing it. Herring not making too many mistakes and he’s not falling for too many feints.
Herring really does look so much bigger in there, it’s hard to see how Frampton will hurt him, but a nice right hand lands and Herring takes a step back.
Herring’s trainer barking instructions from the corner. ‘Don’t reach in!’.
    ROUND TWO
Frampton still looking to make his way on the inside and goes down off a push, which the referee acknowledges.
Herring doing very well at keeping the action long and rangey at the minute.
The American lands a couple of nice left hands to the body but Frampton’s head movement is smart so far.
Another close-ish round here. But Frampton looked much better. Herring still takes it after landing some nice shots at mid-range.
    ROUND ONE
Both men feeling things out with their jabs in there, but Herring looks a MUCH bigger man. Absolutely huge.
Herring lands a nice right hand but lands a little low and Frampton complains. The Jackal is just trying to feel things out in there.
Frampton lands a nice right hand counter while Herring looks to establish some rhythm in there.
Cagey first round, hard to score. Could have gone either way but we’ll give it to Herring, who pressed the action more.

The Rock, 48, tweeted: “How in the cinnamon toast f*ck does this happen – when Larry David clearly has a pulse?!?! #demandingrecount.”
But Tyson was quick to fire back, and insisted both Prince William and funnyman David should not be eligible for the nod – as they have hair around the sides.
He responded: “I should be number 1 by default because Princess William is only bald on top and so is Larry David.”

Jake Paul backed to beat Ben Askren by Demetrious Johnson, but MMA legend wants ex-UFC star to win against YouTuber

And due to his renowned grappling style, which involved limited striking, he goes into the fight as the betting underdog.
Former UFC champion Johnson, now signed to ONE Championship, admitted he would also have to lump his money on Paul.
He said on What the Heck: “When it’s boxing, and you’re in that one element, it’s very hard to get someone out of their element.
“Yes, he’s gonna smother him and do his dirty boxing, but—yes, I know Jake Paul is a YouTube star—he’s training just as hard as a world champion is.
“He has unlimited access to the best trainers in the world.
“He has the funding, not saying Ben Askren doesn’t but anytime you fight somebody who has training, there’s always that chance.
“I’m not discounting Ben Askren out of this fight.
“But if somebody came to me and said, ‘Demetrious Johnson, here’s $1million, who are you putting the money on? You have to f***ing bet, if you don’t bet, I’m taking the $1 million with me’.
“Well, f***, I’m throwing it on Jake Paul. I think he’s gonna win the fight. If I don’t bet, I’m gonna lose it anyways so I’ll go ahead and bet on Jake Paul.”

Askren, 36, in 2018 traded with ex-UFC champion Johnson, 34, who instead moved to ONE Championship in Asia.
And DJ will be supporting the former Olympic wrestler against Paul, 24, but is not confident the result goes his way.
Johnson said: “I want Ben Askren to win. I hope he wins because he comes from my line of sport. He’s a wrestler taking on a YouTube star.
“But when I look at it, I’m like, dude, Jake Paul actually has knockout power. Ben Askren’s been knocked out before so it’s not like it can’t happen again.”

Logan Paul says ‘I’m a dangerous fighter’ after three years of boxing training ahead of Floyd Mayweather exhibition

LOGAN PAUL believes his three years of boxing training has made him ‘a dangerous fighter’ as he prepares to face Floyd Mayweather. The YouTuber is expected to fight boxing legend Mayweather in a pay-per-view exhibition this year.

They were initially signed to box on February 20, but it has been postponed to allow fans to attend.
It has given Paul more time to train for what most would consider mission impossible.
But after one year out the ring, he is feeling more confident than ever after dedicating himself to the sweet science.
Paul, 26, told ET’s Denny Directo: “I feel so dangerous. I feel so confident.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever felt more confident about anything in my life. I’m a dangerous fighter, man.
“I’ve been doing it for three years now – no one’s seen me fight for over a year, it’s all I’ve been doing.”
Paul has boxed only twice before, both against online rival KSI.
The first was a draw in a white collar bout in 2018, but when the two turned professional a year later, KSI, 27, won by scrappy split-decision.

He is yet to fight since, but has continued to train from his Los Angeles mansion, where he has a ring in his back garden.
The leap from fighting fellow novice KSI to all-time great Mayweather is an unprecedented one.
But Paul claimed he can go from winless beginner to ‘the greatest fighter of all time’ with one unthinkable upset.
He said: “You learn a lot when you lose. I would almost be more afraid of the man who’s lost and is determined and also has nothing to lose.
“Think about it, I don’t have anything to lose.
“I lose against Floyd Mayweather, who cares? Right? You fought Floyd Mayweather.

“I win against Floyd Mayweather, I’m the greatest fighter of all time. There’s a lot of freedom in that.”
Mayweather, 44, closed out his career officially in 2017, stopping ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 32, in ten rounds.
But he returned a year later for an exhibition in Japan, wiping out featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in just two minutes.
He will lace up the gloves for a similar spectacle against Paul, who joked about the 50-0 icon’s legacy.
He laughed: “I’m going against Floyd Mayweather, and they’re saying he’s pretty good, this guy.
“They’re saying he’s never lost. These are the rumours. I don’t know if I believe them, but allegedly.”

Dillian Whyte calls out ‘fraud clown’ Deontay Wilder and says ‘I want to punish’ ex-heavyweight king amid bitter rivalry

DILLIAN WHYTE called out ‘fraud clown’ Deontay Wilder and said ‘I want to punish’ the former heavyweight champion. Whyte is already looking ahead to his next opponent, having exacted revenge on Alexander Povetkin with a fourth round knockout in their rematch.

Deontay Wilder has been in a long war of words with Dillian WhyteCredit: Reuters
Immediately, Wilder was the touted name, having shared a bitter rivalry with the Brit in the past.
And it appears Whyte is just as keen, as he posted a video of the Bronze Bomber trash talking him, and called to set up the grudge match.
He posted: “I want to punish @bronzebomber the Coward is full of fear. Come see me fraud clown.”
Whyte, 32, spent over 1,000 days as the WBC’s No1 ranked challenger for Wilder’s belt, but never got his crack at the title.
In the end, Tyson Fury ended up twice challenging for the American’s crown, drawing the first before snatching it away in February 2020.
Wilder, 35, is yet to fight since his first career defeat, and was signed to a trilogy bout with Fury.
But the immediate rematch clause expired in October, with the Bronze Bomber now fighting his case in court.
Meanwhile, Fury, 32, has signed to fight Anthony Joshua, 31, in an undisputed title decider.

It leaves Wilder in the lurch, and Whyte ready to settle the score.
He lost to Povetkin, 41, last August, but got his revenge in March, also winning back his mandatory status for Fury’s belt.
Wilder was one of the first names on Whyte’s lips, and his latest Instagram post reminded the world of their verbal warfare.
He uploaded a video, where Wilder says: “Dillian Whyte is an easy style for me, trust me.
“It’s an easy fight, trust me. His style is easy, he got a wild, wild style. People think I’m wild? C’mon.

“He wants to call out the best fighters, but he don’t want to fight the best fighters.
“Dillian Whyte, get your s*** together, man. That’s all you gotta do, go fight the right fights and stop running away from the fight.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn has plans for Whyte to possibly fight in America in the summer.
Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr, 31, are potential opponents, as well as WBA ‘Regular’ champion Trevor Bryan, 31.

CARL FRAMPTON’S iconic career was ended without a third-weight world title by ruthless US Marine Jamel Herring.Belfast’s former super-bantam and featherweight king went up one weight too high, bidding for Herring’s WBO super-feather crown in Dubai, to become Ireland’s greatest ever fighter.

And the American champion defended his title by dropping the challenger in the fifth and sixth before Frampton’s corner rightly threw in the towel.
The fans’ favourite vowed he could not afford to rebuild at the age of 34, with two children at home, so his legion of fans had to wave him off from a painful distance.
“I am deeply upset,” Frampton said. “I said I would retire if I lost and I am. I dedicate my life and career to my kids.
“I have missed them growing up so I am giving the rest of my life to my kids and wife now.”
Herring, 35, landed with a left hand to Frampton’s head in the opener and later tagged his gut with the same fist.
The Tigers Bay icon was also stumbled backward by another arrowlike left to the torso at the end of the session that any sane judge would have scored to the defending champion.
Frampton tried to bob and weave past Herring’s seven-inch reach advantage in the second but his jab was long and busy.
A rasping one-two cracked Frampton’s face as soon as the third started and rocked the brave boy back.

The once-brilliant Brit kept piling forward and then clipped the champ with his best dig of the fight so far.
But when he rushed in for another barrage, Herring landed a check right hook to score back.
Frampton’s close friend Josh Taylor confirmed from the Channel 5 studio that he had his pal three rounds down just before the fourth started.
And he roared back into the contest by opening up a gash on the corner of Herring’s right eyelid with his best round of the fight.

A crisp one-two from Herring was the perfect way to start the fifth but Frampton retaliated with a spiteful left hook in the clinch.
But he then walked right on to a clubbing left hand and was dropped for a count and a 10-8 round.
Herring’s pipe-cleaner arms kept throwing shots and Frampton was battered into the canvas again by a vicious uppercut in the sixth.
The little bruiser bounced up and carried on but was taking a shellacking and trainer Jamie Moore threw in the towel to save him from his own bravery.
