Jake Paul warned he will be thrown to ‘the floor’ and mauled in ‘dirty’ Ben Askren fight by Georges St-Pierre’s coach

JAKE PAUL is in danger of being ragdolled and thrown ‘on the floor’ in his fight against Ben Askren. The YouTuber will throw down with the former UFC star in a boxing match at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta on Saturday week.

Despite only having two professional fights to his name, Paul goes into his bout with the former ONE Championship and Bellator welterweight champion as the bookies’ favourite.
But Zhabi, the long-time coach of MMA great Georges St-Pierre, reckons the 24-year-old will be in for a rude awakening.
During a lengthy breakdown of the fight, the Tristar Gym coach said: “I think Ben Askren wins.
“Here’s why, I saw Jake Paul’s last fight, he’d knocked out some guy with a couple overhand rights, stunned him a few times, dropped him.
“But here’s where Jake Paul — I don’t think he knows what he’s getting into.
“Number one, Ben Askren is a wrestler, yes and his forte is not striking, we all know that. He’s not the greatest striker.

“But he’s been in there with killers. He’s been in there with like legitimately dangerous human beings.
“Robbie Lawler, Douglas Lima — I can go on and on, the list is super long. He’s been in there with real killers, and I know he didn’t use boxing, but he took shots from these guys… it was some serious shots. Ben Askren never wavered.
“The computer was still working, he didn’t panic. He’s a true competitor.
“He’s been training in MMA, he’s been learning how to strike.
“Let’s call it fifteen years, he’s been striking — let’s call it ten years, let’s be very reserved here.
“It’s not only boxing offense that’s the issue.
Jake Paul is cutting no corners with his diet
“I guarantee you that he takes a shot better than Jake, I can guarantee you that, I’m guaranteeing you that right now.
“So Jake’s going to go in there, and in the first two, three rounds he’s going to be dancing around and he’s going to jab Askren. He’s going to look alright, he’s going to look good.
“Askren’s going to hit him back and it’s going to be a give and take. But here’s what Jake doesn’t know, Askren has proven that he’s got an incredible chin.”
Zahabi reckons Olympic wrestler Askren, 36, will use his years of grappling experience to ‘maul’ Paul in the clinch.

He added: “Ben Askren is going to maul him in the clinch, dirty box him. He’s going to get warned by the referee, but it doesn’t matter.
“Barring the exception that Askren’s chin is finished (after that Masvidal KO), Askren is going to maul him.
“It’s not going to be pretty. It’s going to be a dirty fight.
“It’s going to be a seesaw battle a little bit early on, then all of a sudden Jake is going to fatigue and Ben Askren will be all over him.
“He’ll throw him on the floor, ragdoll him.

“Maybe even picks up and slams Jake Paul once or twice. It would not surprise me.
“Ben Askren probably doesn’t have a clause where if he gets disqualified, he doesn’t get paid. In my opinion, Ben Askren doesn’t care if he gets disqualified.
“He’s going to pull on his head, step on his feet — shove him so he’s off balance, and it’s going to be a mauling.
“How is he going to pick and poke, stick and move and stay away from Askren?
“Once they lock up, once they lock up, I guarantee you, Jake’s battery is going to start to drain.”

Ring Magazine’s top 10 P4P boxers revealed including just one heavyweight… and it’s NOT Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury

OLEKSANDR USYK remains the only heavyweight included on the Ring Magazines’s top ten pound-for-pound rankings. With Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury yet to fight this year, neither have had the chance to climb into the mythical ratings list.

And with none of the top ten suffering a setback, it means the heavyweight champions are still looking on from the outside.
But with Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, signed to fight this summer, it offers the perfect opportunity for one of them to break into the Ring’s top ten.
Currently, only Usyk, 34, represents the blue ribband division, due to his 18-0 record and prior reign as undisputed cruiserweight king.
The Ukrainian also has two heavyweight wins to his name, and stands as Joshua’s WBO mandatory challenger.
Canelo Alvarez, 30, sits atop of the pack, having cemented his legacy in December by winning unified super-middleweight belts.
He defended them against Avni Yildirim, 29, in February and now unifies against WBO champ Billy Joe Saunders, 31, in May.
The Mexican superstar already has eyes on Caleb Plant’s IBF strap and the chance to become undisputed for the first time.
Japan’s devastatingly powerful 20-0 bantamweight ruler Naoya Inoue, 27, currently trails Canelo.

Terence Crawford, 33, a three-division and current WBO welterweight champion sits third.
Usyk is fourth and Crawford’s division rival Errol Spence Jr, 30, who has the WBC and IBF welterweight titles, comes in at fifth.
If the 147lb stars finally agree terms for a massive all-American headliner, a jump in the rankings is sure to follow for the winner.
Teofimo Lopez’s breakout win over Vasiliy Lomachenko, 33, in October saw the 23-year-old shoot to sixth.
In the only change in the current standings, Mexican Juan Estrada, 30, leaped above Loma to seventh, with the Ukrainian now eighth.
Josh Taylor, 30, in ninth is the only Brit on the list, with Inoue’s countryman Kazuto Ioka, 32, tenth.

Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders to fight for special WBC Mestizo belt in addition to super middleweight titles

CANELO ALVAREZ’s super-middleweight title fight with Billy Joe Saunders will also be for the WBC Mestizo belt, the governing body has revealed. The pair’s eagerly-anticipated 168lb unification fight will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on May 8.

And the WBC have opted to create a special ‘Mestizo’ belt for the Texas tussle.
WBC chief Mauricio Sulaiman said: “Our great champion Saul Canelo Alvarez continues his plan to unify the super middleweight division by facing the WBO champion, British boxer Billy Joe Saunders, on May 8 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
“During this fight, it’s going to be where the World Boxing Council will give the world another piece of art, the beautiful Mestizo belt, made by the State of Mexico.
“As you may know, the WBC commemorates the two great Mexican dates (Cinco De Mayo in May and Mexican Independence Day in September), as the most important fights of the year are held on these dates and magnificent (title) pieces from various cultures have been created (for these fights).
“First it was the Huichol, then Chiapas, then the Mayan culture , and last year it was dedicated to the State of Mexico with the Mazahua and Otomi belts.
“As there were no fights in 2020 due to the pandemic, we agreed to dignify this entity in 2021, and very soon we will present the Mestizo (title).”

The undefeated Saunders goes into his clash with four-weight champ Canelo as a huge underdog, although many have tipped the Brit to give his Mexican counterpart some serious trouble.
Canelo’s head coach, Eddy Reynoso, isn’t expecting an easy night at the office, saying of the WBO champ: “He is a good boxer.
“He is a tough and left-handed fighter, but we will be ready for him. I am very motivated to get a great victory.”
Welwyn warrior Saunders, 31, is confident of shocking the world and handing the hard-hitting Canelo his second professional loss.
He told talkSPORT: “I’m the seventh Brit he’s faced, he’s dealt with six of them very comfortably.
“The Brits like dancing and moving and thinking they’ve gotta run away, but I will be there for him to hit.
“I will be in range for him to hit. I’ll be setting traps, the same as he’ll be setting traps.
“I don’t think running a million miles an hour is gonna do me any justice…

“He’s not got the best engine in the world, Canelo.
“He’s very good at what he does, extremely good at what he does, but there’s faults there.
“We’ve seen people try to run away and box him, we’ve seen people try to use the brawn, but we’ve only seen one man use his brain and that was Floyd Mayweather.
“Brain over brawn here. Brain wins this, technical thinking wins this.”

Anthony Joshua admits boxing got him off the streets as he bids to save 2,400 UK gyms from going out of business

ANTHONY JOSHUA has admitted boxing saved him from the streets as he launched a new initiative to raise money for independent gyms across the UK.The WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion of the world has partnered with banking app Revolut to launch a glow-in-the-dark debit card.
Anthony Joshua has launched a new debit card that will raise money for boxing gyms
And for each card ordered, that costs £4.99, Revolut will donate £1 to support boxing clubs in England and Scotland.
The company has already promised to invest a minimum of £50,000 in grassroots boxing.
Joshua, who has agreed a mouthwatering two-fight deal against WBC king Tyson Fury, is delighted to have teamed up to raise much-needed funds.
He said: “Without my local gym I would not be where I am today.
“Across the UK, there are kids and adults alike using these gyms to improve their physical and mental health, and keep themselves off the streets.
“I am really pleased my Revolut card will make a real difference.”
Facilities such as gyms and leisure centres were not included in the UK Government’s Sport Winter Survival Package that was announced late last year.
And sports charity ukactive has estimated that 400 facilities have closed their doors permanently since the beginning of the pandemic and another 2,400 gyms are at risk.

Joshua’s work has been praised by the chairman of England Boxing, Gethin Jenkins, who described it as a ‘great initiative’.
He added: “With clubs not being allowed to fully operate for over a year the impact on physical, mental health and financially has been significant and this innovation will help those clubs in most need.
