Conor Benn has a ‘glass chin’ and only fights ‘bad opponents’, slams rival Florian Marku in stinging attack

CONOR BENN has a ‘glass chin’ and only fights ‘journeymen’, according to divisional rival Florian Marku.Benn, 24, returns to the ring against Samuel Vargas on Saturday night, an opponent that leaves Marku unimpressed.

The Brit has previously passed over his Albanian counterpart, claiming that he has ‘bigger fish to fry’.
But Marku thinks that he is being dodged by the rising star.
He told Sky Sports: “I knew he would not fight me in his next two or three fights because he chooses bad opponents with bad records.
“Sebastian Formella had a good record but he was not a strong puncher. Vargas is not a good opponent. He has lost to all the good names and has never won against anyone with a good record.
“He has beaten journeymen to build his record. Conor will win. Conor would never choose anyone without losses. [My last two] opponents had unbeaten records.”
“It’s easy to choose someone who has tasted losses many times because they don’t give their heart to this game.”
Vargas, 31, has shared the ring with the likes of Amir Khan, Danny Garcia and Errol Spence Jr.
But the Canadian-Colombian has been on the losing side of all three of these bouts.

Marku, on the other hand, is undefeated.
He continued: “Rylan Charlton would give big, big problems to Conor because you saw what Cedrick Peynaud did to him. This is a fact.
“Conor has a glass chin. Since Peynaud, they haven’t chosen anyone who can hit. From that day, they chose carefully because Conor can’t take a hit to the head.
“When I hit Conor clean? He and his team know I hit hard because they have heard about my sparring. All of my opponents were guys that can hit. They all hit hard. Conor chooses only bad opponents.
“We have good names in the UK – Chris Jenkins, Chris Kongo, Michael McKinson – who were calling him out but he never put his name on the line because he is scared.
“Why did he choose Formella from Germany? He had zero power. Vargas? Because he knows he is 90 per cent likely to win. They choose opponents carefully.”
Benn, however, has previously brushed off criticism, saying: “I beat undefeated kids – I’ve been there, seen it, done it.
“I can’t blame him. Coward? Don’t be silly. You’ve got to take it with a pinch of salt. You’ve got to laugh at it.”
I can bring in big money, I can sell more tickets than his entire gym can sell together!Florian Marku on a match-up with Conor Benn
But Marku, 28, is convinced their paths will eventually cross: “He will have to fight me if he keeps his unbeaten record.
“I can bring in big money, I can sell more tickets than his entire gym can sell together! I am a big money fight in the future for him, if we keep our unbeaten records.
“I have my own journey. Benn is a part of it, but I don’t care. I will go my own way.”

Floyd Mayweather TMT co-creator P-Reala reveals businesses include liquor delivery service, music label and skating rink

FLOYD MAYWEATHER has built a business empire alongside his right hand man James ‘P-Reala’ McNair.Mayweather is widely celebrated as one of the greatest fighters of all time, but has become an astute money-maker outside of the ring with his trusted advisor.
Floyd Mayweather and his right hand man James ‘P-Reala’ McNair
P-Reala and Floyd Mayweather first met in 2005
The boxing legend first met McNair in 2005 in New York and friendship led to the pair to work with each other and by 2011 they launched The Money Team.
McNair helped negotiate two of Mayweather’s biggest and most lucrative fights, against Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and then with Conor McGregor two years later.
But with the ring legend now retired, their efforts have turned to ventures outside of the ropes.
Those include the Girl Collection strip club, real estate and TMT’s music label, with rappers Lil Jamez and Friyie both signed.
But the pair have also now opened a skating rink, liquor delivery service and a fashion line, something Mayweather is particularly passionate in.
McNair tells SunSport: “Floyd is a distinguished gentleman, so we also want to work on a line where it’s going to be high end clothes, so far as suits and stuff like that.
“We have a lot of things, but we’re focussed on the businesses, real estate, stuff like that.”
Businessman McNair works around the clock with Mayweather on their million dollar companies.

But he reveals Mayweather – who topped Forbes’ rich list of the decade with a £700m fortune – is hands on with the decision making.
McNair explains: “All of these are Floyd’s babies and ideas.
“He’s in there from the designing of the nightclubs and skating rinks, or the buildings, he’s hands on.
“If anyone knows Floyd, he’s hands on with everything he does. Even with his own home, he’s decorated and designed his own interior of his home.
“His brain is on another level, his mind thinks outside the box, he wants to be hands on and he has a certain idea.
“He might bring people in who do a certain kind of work, obviously he don’t do construction work and all that, but he brings the people in and brings his idea to life.”

Mayweather, 44, officially retired as a professional in 2017, beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 32, in ten rounds.
But he did return for an exhibition bout in 2018 against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, which McNair was credited for brokering.
The TMT co-creator now travels the world with Mayweather, but the work never stops, and the topic of discussion is always business.
McNair says: “Whether we’re on a plane, a hotel room, at a basketball court, his mind is always thinking business.
“We can be playing basketball and he sees a certain pair of shorts and he’ll say, ‘We can take these shorts and do this and design it like this’.
“His mind is always working and I think that’s why he’s so successful and like I said it comes from the inner.
“He has a passion for certain things like fashion, and designing and things like that so once that’s already in you, it doesn’t matter how successful you come financially, or how big you come as far as celebrity, he has a passion for certain things and that’s always going to be in him.

It was initially set for February 20, but has since been backdated, with a new date yet to be confirmed.
McNair reveals: “We’re going to be making an announcement soon.
“I can’t give a specific date right now because we’re still working on intangibles but it’s going to be sooner than people expect.
“We were working out things from the initial February date, everything is in order, everything is in line.

Maths teacher Ebanie Bridges vows to bring world title back to pupils after ‘sexy lingerie’ feud with Shannon Courtenay

MATHS teacher Ebanie Bridges vows to bring the world title back to her pupils – but only after ending her ‘sexy lingerie’ feud with Shannon Courtenay. Aussie Bridges and Londoner Courtenay act as the chief support for Conor Benn’s headliner against Samuel Vargas on Saturday night.

They both challenge for the vacant WBA bantamweight title on Sky Sports, and their online back and forth has captured fans’ attention.
Courtenay has taken exception to her opponent’s weigh in attire, which left her saying ‘I’m a fighter not a lingerie model’.
But Bridges, 34, reveals it is all part of ’embracing her femininity’ and standing out from the crowd.
She told SunSport: “I like to look good, so I’ll do my hair, I’ll do my makeup and I’ll show my body off and wear stuff to make me look nice.
“I don’t think there should be a reason why to downplay that femininity.
“Why should I take on this stereotypical, rough, live in training clothes look just because I’m a boxer?
“They say get a girl who can do both. Why not show both those sides?
“There seems to be a problem with it, like sexy and sports shouldn’t go together.”

The high school teacher has become a huge hit with fans on social media, and reveals she is trying her best to bring more eyeballs to women’s boxing.
Bridges said: “Women’s boxing, it’s boring to a lot of people, a lot of people think that.
“There’s great fighters, Claressa Shields, Katie Taylor, but still we need more.
“And that comes down to the characters, and something different which is going to get attention.
“I’m happy to be that person, as there’s so many people talking about our fight.”
Bridges’ beef with Courtenay, 27, has turned spiteful the closer the fight has got, but it all stemmed from a row over lingerie.
“Shannon got asked about me and she pretty much said, ‘If you wanna get naked, go get naked somewhere else, this is a serious sport’, Bridges said.
“She said that because I weighed in, in lingerie, which is still underwear.

“Apparently lace underwear is not acceptable, but boxer shorts which she wears is?
“But then she goes and wears lace underwear in her next weigh in, so has she joined the ‘naked club’ now?
“I just think she’s a hypocrite. She’s calling me naked because I weigh in, in underwear just like you.”
Despite Bridges’ squabbles with Courtenay over their differing outfits, the ex-bodybuilder still respects the rivalry they have built with one another.
“I think rivalry is very important. I know that and that’s why I don’t mind building it up a little bit,” she said.
“For me I just want people to tune in and see the Blonde Bomber and I know it’s going to be a really good fight, Shannon can fight.”
Bridges, who has competed in martial arts since the age of five, only took up boxing just before her 30th birthday in 2016.
But she squeezed in 30 amateur bouts in three years before turning pro, where she has risen to world title contention in just two years.

Bridges, who has two degrees and a masters, teaches at a sports selective school and used to wake up 5am to train before heading to work.
After the last bell, she would head back to the gym for her second session.
Now, to focus her efforts on becoming world champion, she teaches on a casual bases to fit around her training schedule.
But still Bridges’ pupils are her biggest fans.
She said: “They really are. They’re so proud and they boast about me!
“They say to other casual teachers , ‘That’s our teacher, she’s a professional boxer!’ They always come up to me and want to talk to me about my boxing.
“I tell my kids there’s no such thing as ‘I can’t’ or ‘it’s too hard’. You just don’t want to really do it, so I really push that.

“I believe in you should believe in yourselves. I think it’s a very important message, stop making excuses, find a way to do it.”
Bridges’ pupils are already asking when she will return, and she promises it will be after the belt gets wrapped around her waist.
She said: “I’ve got lots of motivation and that’s one of them and I can’t wait.
“One of the kids asked me on Instagram, ‘When are you coming back to school miss?’
“And I wrote, ‘When I get my world title belt so I can show you what hard work and sacrifice looks like’.
“I think it’s really important for me to show them that, especially as they’re sport kids.
“I have to show them you have to work hard and if you do, you can succeed.
“I literally can’t wait to go there and take pictures with them and the belt.”

Conor Benn backed to become next PPV star by his trainer and replicate legendary dad Nigel by becoming must-watch TV

CONOR BENN has been backed by his trainer to be the next pay-per-view star and replicate legendary dad Nigel by becoming must-watch TV. Benn carries all the same excitement to the ring that his iconic father once did, which made him one of Britain’s most celebrated fighters.

Anthony Joshua currently leads the way as the nation’s biggest box office attraction, followed by his heavyweight rivals.
But Benn’s famous surname and explosive style of his own puts him in prime position to emerge as the next PPV fan-favourite.
His trainer Tony Sims told SunSport: “I think he will be.
“The word from Sky Sports is that apart from the heavyweight pay-per-view stars, i.e Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora, Conor Benn is the biggest attraction on Sky.
“He brings in the most viewers. The reason he does that is because of excitement.
“Maybe he will go down in the fight, maybe he’ll get up and knock him out.
“You don’t know what he brings to the table and that’s what makes him exciting. That’s why we liked watching Nigel Benn years ago.
“From the fighters around in Nigel’s dad, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins, Michael Watson, Nigel was the one people really wanted to watch as he brings excitement.

“He went down sometimes, he knocked out a lot of people, he got back up. As soon as Nigel Benn was on the telly people tuned in.
“As soon as Conor Benn is on the telly people tune in and that’s the difference between pay-per-view fighters and non pay-per-view fighters.”
Benn Jr is having no problem making a name for his own in the ring and headlines his second consecutive show, on Saturday live on  Sky Sports Main Event.
His last, a ten-round win over ex-IBO champion Sebastian Formella, was a career best.
Now Benn welcomes experienced Canadian-Colombian Samuel Vargas back to English shores, his biggest step up to date.
As always with the 24-year-old, eyeballs will be fixed on how he deals with the leap in competition.

It is the same sort of intrigue that led to Ricky Hatton’s son, Campbell, receiving huge attention when he made his pro debut in late March.
Sims understands the trials which comes with trying to fill the massive boxing boots left behind by a father adored by boxing fans.
But the esteemed coach is joined by several others in pointing out that welterweight contender Benn is far more than the son of a legend.
He said: “They’re under a severe amount of pressure, a lot more pressure than a normal fighter who would go under the radar.
“With Conor Benn, Campbell Hatton, Chris Eubank Jr, everyone sees them from their first ever fight and judge them from that as well.
“Conor’s not just Nigel’s son anymore, as a fighter he’s bringing his own finesse, skills, development, power into the boxing game.
Conor Benn training with trainer Tony SimsCredit: Mark Robinson NMCPool Matchroom Boxing

“He’s not a carbon copy of Nigel at all, he’s more rounded than Nigel was but he carries Nigel’s power in both hands.
“He’s still very exciting like Nigel was. He’s developing his own name in the game now as Conor Benn, not just Nigel’s son.”
Benn is currently ranked No11 in the WBA, and has already called out Amir Khan and Kell Brook, both 34, for potential blockbusters at the end of the year.
And while cornerman Sims welcomes either domestic bouts, he stresses the importance of first testing themselves against Vargas, who was beaten by Khan in Birmingham in 2018.
He explained: “On paper it looks like the right fight for him.
“Obviously it’s a tough fight because of the experience Sammy Vargas brings and Conor Benn doesn’t bring that sort of experience.
“But that’s why the fight is good for him, by beating these kinds of fighters he gains that experience he needs to move on to the next level.
“Conor Benn needs to gain experience from different fighters, different styles, good fighters if you’re gonna talk about him going on to world level and in world title fights he needs to fight these sort of opponents and come through them.”

Tyson Fury uses Anthony Joshua’s ‘boss’ taunt against him after topping latest Ring Magazine rankings

TYSON FURY used Anthony Joshua’s own ‘boss’ taunt against him after topping the latest Ring Magazine rankings. The new standings were released this week with the Gypsy King still the heavyweight champ.

Joshua, 31, is then the next-highest boxer in the division with Deontay Wilder in third.
And Fury, 32, took to Twitter to rub it in for his rivals.
He shared a graphic of the rankings and simply wrote: “I’m the boss.”
It comes six weeks after Joshua told his rival to ‘come and find the boss’ to finalise the plans for their blockbuster showdown.
The Watford star told Sky News: “We’re working on a date for around June.
“So if Tyson is serious, which I think he is, he’ll know where to come and find the boss.
“I’m ready. I’m really looking forward to competition, all I want to do is fight, fight, fight.”
Fury and AJ are finally set to step into the ring this summer for the first of their two-fight deal with all four major belts on the line.

The pair have still not finalised on a suitable venue – with Las Vegas and the Middle East strong favourites to host the fight.
But a 30-day expiration date to finalise the deal is up in just two days, meaning it could collapse this weekend – as Fury took to Instagram to remind the WBA, IBF and WBO king the clock is ticking.
While Fury may be ahead of Joshua in the Ring Magazine heavyweight rankings, neither made it into the pound-for-pound top ten.
Oleksandr Usyk, 34, is the only heavyweight in there – sitting fourth – while Josh Taylor crept in as the sole British representative.
Canelo Alvarez, 30, sits atop of the pack, having cemented his legacy in December by winning unified super-middleweight belts.

Tyson Fury says the ‘clock is ticking’ as he goads Anthony Joshua & Eddie Hearn with venue deadline in THREE DAYS

TYSON FURY has goaded Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn by suggesting the ‘clock is ticking’ with just THREE DAYS left to decide on a venue. In March, it was confirmed the British duo had finally signed the contracts for their two-fight, £500million deal after months of talks.

However, Fury, 32, and Joshua, 31, had just 30 days to thrash out further terms on an agreeable venue.
Both parties now have just THREE DAYS left to find a suitable venue – with Las Vegas and the Middle East strong favourites to host the fight.
If they fail to come to an agreement, the heavyweight unification fight – the first in history with all four major belts on the line – is at risk of collapsing.
Fury’s US promotion team Top Rank, confirmed the 30-day expiration date.
A source revealed: “It’s pending, finding a site and a date that’s acceptable to both.
“We have 30 days from the signing, or the deal could go away.”
And now Fury – set to link up with SugarHill Steward in Las Vegas for his training camp – has amped up the pressure to find a venue with a cryptic post on Twitter.
The Gypsy King tweeted: “3 days left. The clock is ticking. Tick tock tick tock.”

Meanwhile, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, admitted he hopes to sort out the venue situation quickly.
At the time of the contracts being signed, in March, Hearn told ESPN: “We’d like to get a site deal confirmed in the next month.
“The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper.
“But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters.
“I actually feel we’ve done the hard part.
“Speaking for myself, Anthony and his team at 258 management, I know how hard we’ve worked these last couple of months.
“I just feel that this fight is so big it’s not a difficult sell.”

Frank Warren reveals what REALLY happened after being floored by Mike Tyson with punch in hotel bust-up over jewellery

FRANK WARREN has opened up on his infamous hotel bust-up over jewellery with Mike Tyson. Tyson was in the UK in 2000 as he bid to get his career back on track and beat Julius Francis in Manchester.

Former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson poses with one of his watches
But that week he racked up an expensive bill at the jewellers, spending around £2million on flash bling.
The problem was he never paid it, and it was veteran promoter Warren who was left to deal with the aftermath.
So when Iron Mike returned to Britain in the June to face Lou Savarese, he was asked to pay what he owed.
But as Warren reveals in his new BT Sport documentary, the Baddest Man on The Planet assumed it had all been taken care of.
Warren, 69, said: “Day before the fight, Shelly Finkel comes down – who was looking after his affairs – and he said, ‘Look Frank, we ain’t going to fight’.
“And he just put all this jewelry down and I said, ‘What are you talking about? He said, ‘Well, he thought you was buying it’.
“I said, ‘Are you mental? Why on Earth would I be paying for that for?'”
Warren refused to take back the jewels, and confronted Tyson, but ended up taking a whack for his troubles.

He revealed: “I was a bit silly for what I did here, I went up to his room and he’s got him, Tommy Brooks, who’s his trainer, really nice bloke and a couple other blokes.
“And he starts ranting. ‘Don King treated me better than this’.
“And I hadn’t even got to saying anything then crack – he’s hit me with a left hook right on the chin, just out the blue.
