Logan and Jake Paul are ‘clowns’ and I’d ‘whoop their a** easily as they’re NOT real boxers’, claims Claressa Shields

LIGHT middleweight champ Claressa Shields has slammed Jake Paul and brother Logan’s move into boxing. The YouTubers have caused a stir by opting to step inside the ring while calling out the likes of Conor McGregor and legend Floyd Mayweather.

Logan, 26, has fought once professionally and suffered defeat to fellow Youtube star KSI.
Jake, 24, has enjoyed two wins inside the ring against fellow social media star AnEsonGib in January 2020 and former NBA player Nate Robinson in November.
On Saturday he takes on retired MMA scrapper Ben Askren at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta.
There has been plenty of trash talk surrounding the event and Shields has hit out at the ‘clown’s’ venture into boxing.
Speaking via the MyBettingSites.co.uk blog, the 26-year-old said: “I like when the older fighters come back, like Roy Jones versus Mike Tyson.
“I think Jake Paul and his brother are more like clown shows, to be honest. But they’re making money, they’re using their platforms, but it’s not real boxing.
“Respect to them for training, I guess – but I’d much rather see Mike Tyson versus Evander Holyfield or something.
“I don’t want to see Floyd beat up Logan Paul but Floyd can do whatever he wants, he’s accomplished everything so he gets to call his own shots – it’s just something I don’t want to see.

“No-one’s ever mentioned an exhibition to me because they know I do real fights – I would whoop Jake Paul’s a** though, just because he thinks boxing is easy.
“I saw him do an interview recently where he said Youtube is harder than boxing. What – being a Youtube star is harder than being a boxer?
“He said something about posting to Youtube for 800 days straight. Big whoop, you posted a video.
“Do you understand what it takes to become a boxing world champion? I have trained more than 800 days. Putting up a video, for one it’s free.
“You just post this s**t, the internet is doing the hard work, you’re not doing nothing. So for him to say YouTube is harder than boxing, I was like man, people are giving him a platform to say all kind of dumb stuff.
“He’s [Jake Paul] picking his fights to make it entertaining, I don’t know how Ben Askren box, I have no idea.

“I know he’s been inside the cage before, he had a good record, so hopefully he has enough boxing skills to beat Jake Paul but who knows. Ben is known as a wrestler I think.”
Shields has earned multiple world championships in three weight classes having won each of her 11 fights.
She has also won gold medals in the women’s middleweight division at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Tyson Fury open to Anthony Joshua fight at Wembley after Khan offer but London mayor told to put money where mouth is

TYSON FURY is open to having his huge undisputed heavyweight title fight with Anthony Joshua staged in the UK, according to his promoter Frank Warren. The Gypsy King and AJ have been negotiating a monumental two-fight deal for the pair to clash in the summer, with the rematch to take place in November or December.
    Credit: Reuters

Both sides signed the fight contract last month and were given 28 days to agree a site, date and financial particulars.
And over the weekend, both Joshua and Fury confirmed they’d been presented with offers from various countries to host the fight.
Saudi Arabia looks to be the frontrunner, but Qatar, Russia, Uzbekistan, the US and the UK were all mentioned by Fury, too.
Fury’s British promoter Warren says talks for the first fight to be hosted in the UK have gone on for some time, with London mayor Sadiq Khan pledging his backing to the fight in an interview last week.
Warren told SunSport: “We’re just waiting for confirmation on a couple of offers, we’re waiting for them to come in and I understand they’re imminent.
“If the offers are acceptable then it’ll happen this summer. If the fighter’s expectation levels are being met then it should do.
“If they’re not met then everyone has got to step back and take a reality check.

“But I’m an optimist and I’m confident that what everyone’s working towards will happen. I do believe we will get something concrete.
“And there’s one other thing, we’ve been negotiating for a while now to put the fight on in the UK. We’ve been working to do that.
“If Sadiq Khan wants it at Wembley then he needs to put his hands in his pocket and make it happen.
“There’s interest from other countries of course but the UK thing is still there. Everything is governed, however, by what’s happening with the pandemic. No-one knows what’s going to happen.
“And I’m sure that if the money was right then Tyson would have no problem fighting in the UK again, despite previous comments. It’s all got to stack up to what the fighters want.”

It’s thought both Joshua and Fury will earn up to £100million each for their massive bout, but coronavirus restrictions across the globe have seeded doubt about just how much each fighter will take home.
There have been reports that potential host countries Saudi and Qatar would rather wait for the fight to take place later in the year, when more fans will be able to attend Joshua vs Fury.
Warren is keen for the fight to happen at Wembley Stadium in London, however, and hopes it can be done for the fans.
“I’d love the fight to be in the UK, the fans deserve it. It’s an all-British affair, it’s a history-making fight,” he added.
“It’s two British heavyweight fighters, with all four belts on the line. It’s never happened before, so it’s unique.”

Fury will have been out the ring for 17 months by the time a potential first fight with Joshua takes place, though.
And Warren has warned the WBC titleholder will move on if the negotiations continue to drag on.
He said: “If this goes on too long then Tyson will have to move on, he’s p****d off he’s been inactive, he wants to be out, he’s not going to hang about forever, that’s for sure.”

Ben Askren: “We haven’t seen anything.
“The level of his competition was so low that it was almost impossible to tell if he is actually good at this.
“If there is one thing people respect about all fighters it’s the toughness to deal with adversity in battle and we have not seen that out of him.

Dillian Whyte wants to make sensational UFC switch to challenge Francis Ngannou for heavyweight title

But his calls to finally fight deposed WBC champ Deontay Wilder appear to be falling on deaf ears in the American’s camp.
And speaking to talkSPORT, the Brixton-based brawler is ready to swap the ring for a cage.
His promoter Eddie Hearn teased a two-fight deal last year against Ngannou – and even suggested Anthony Joshua fancies it too.
But Whyte, who started as a kickboxer, seems first in line for the sensational switch.
He said: “Imagine me going and winning the UFC heavyweight championship.
“I’d be the first boxer to ever do that and, with the stage of my career that I am, I can do that.
“As the interim heavyweight champion, going and winning the UFC undisputed heavyweight championship, I am definitely up for that.”
Matchroom boss Hearn has still not given up on the idea of the historic cross promotion alongside the UFC between Ngannou, 34, and Whyte, 32.

Hearn said: “I love Francis NGannou. We almost had a presser with Dillian Whyte and him, but the UFC shut that down after we taped it.
“We do have the footage, though. I would love to see a double match-up with Ngannou and Dillian Whyte.
“One in the cage and one out of it.”
Before deciding to take up boxing, Whyte competed in both kickboxing and MMA.

Whyte slams ‘s***-talker’ Tyson Fury and blasts his and Wilder’s ‘cherry-picked records’ with just one top-10 win each

DILLIAN WHYTE has slammed Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder for ‘cherry-picking’ their opponents as he claims his record is more impressive. The Brit is coming off the back of last month’s sensational knockout win over Alexander Povetkin, putting right his shock defeat to the Russian last August.

Whyte’s victory is the latest in a long line of impressive wins for the 33-year-old.
He has also already beaten the likes of Derek Chisora, Joseph Parker and Oscar Rivas in what is fast becoming an accomplished professional resume.
Meanwhile, Fury’s only major win since returning to the sport in 2018 came against Wilder last year.
And Wilder’s only high-profile victories have come against Luis Ortiz, knocking out the Cuban out in 2018 and then again in 2019.
Speaking about Fury, Whyte told Sky Sports: “Everyone let’s him get away with talking s***. It’s frustrating.
“Fury and Wilder get too much credit for their padded, cherry-picked records and have only beaten one current Ring Magazine top ten fighter each. I’ve beaten three.”
Although Fury has only beaten Wilder from those ranked in the top ten by The Ring magazine, he did also end Wladimir Klitschko’s 11-year unbeaten run with a brilliant victory in Germany in 2015.
The Gypsy King looks set to collide with Anthony Joshua later this year in an all-British fight for the undisputed heavyweight title.

Meanwhile, Whyte has set his sights on a clash with Wilder – a fight he has been calling for since 2017.
When quizzed on his plans for Whyte, promoter Eddie Hearn said: “I’d like to see him box quickly again in the summer, maybe go over to the States and have a fight over there.
“We called for the Deontay Wilder fight for a long, long time. [Wilder] actually DM’d Dillian Whyte and said I will never, ever give you that fight.
“And now he got knocked out and he’s calling for the fight with Dillian Whyte.
“For me that’s a stadium fight, that’s a colossal fight. I’d like to get him back out quickly, maybe to the States for a big fight.”

Many boxing fans have been tipping Fury to get the better of AJ ever since the announcement of their two-fight deal last June.
Former WBC heavyweight titleholder Bruno is part of that group and reckons the elusive ‘Gypsy King’ will be too much to handle for the unified champion.
Bruno, 59, told The Daily Mirror: “As for Fury versus Joshua, Fury is in front for me.
“He is a very dangerous guy because he doesn’t give a monkey’s who’s in front of him.
“He is a much better fighter than a lot of people give him credit for.

“Anthony Joshua is very hungry as well but he still has a lot to learn.
“He needs a little bit more discipline and I don’t know how he lost to that guy Andy Ruiz Junior.
“I haven’t got anything against Joshua but Fury is a very underestimated guy and he’s a force to be reckoned with.”
Early on Monday morning, Joshua revealed he’d received ‘the first official offer’ to host the long-awaited Battle of Britain.
He wrote on Twitter and Instagram: “Positive news this evening! I’m lacing up my running boots rn!

“@258MGT and @Matchroomboxing have received the first OFFICIAL offer to host the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship Of The WORLD!
“I will be victorious God Willing! No place to hide now! I’M COMING!”
Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn has received offers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore, China, America, Dubai and the UK to host the blockbuster fight.
He told Sky Sports: “Joshua doesn’t talk much about fights – but he talks when it’s close.
“You can feel the excitement building.

“We are in a great place with several offers on the table. I’m quietly confident.
“It was nice to see Fury post with enthusiasm because he feels that we are close.
“The teams will get together. I will try to see Bob Arum on Tuesday. We’re nearly there. We have worked really hard and we don’t want to give in.
“We’re in a good place, nice and close. I can’t do any more than I’m doing. People know that we’re on the verge.
“Both guys are desperate to get moving. Joshua wants a date for the start of his camp. This is the sporting event of 2021.

Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson’s boxing fight vs Australia Strongest Man Alex Simon OFF after rival has surgery

HAFTHOR BJORNSSON’s boxing match with former mixed martial artist Alex Simon is off after his rival suffered a torn bicep. The Game of Thrones star, 32, was due to face his fellow powerlifter in May.

But a torn left bicep for Australia’s Simon has laid waste to the battle of juggernauts.
Simon wrote on Instagram: “Bicep tendon surgery ✅.
“Not the news I wanted to give but last week during a sparring session I threw a punch and tore my left bicep tendon off the bone.
“I knew how bad the injury was instantly as I tore my right bicep tendon less than 2 years ago, obviously this means my boxing match with @thorbjornsson is off.
“I wish him best of luck in his prep, rehab is approximately 6 months, another setback for myself and this 1 was hard to take after a terrible few years for me, but it is what it is, s**t happens and I’ll tick every box rehab wise and get back to competing before the year is out.
“Can only hope my run of bad luck is behind me now and a successful run is coming my way.

“When your down and out you find out who actually has your back and to the people that do I will not forget when we are rolling soon, only a matter of time, let the rehab begin.”
Bjornsson, who played The Mountain in Game of Thrones, has yet to comment on Simon’s withdrawal from their titanic showdown.
The Icelander’s clash with Simon was meant to serve as further preparation for his grudge match with Eddie Hall.
The bruisers are set to throw down with one another in Las Vegas in September, although a date for their showdown has not been announced.
The strongmen used to be good friends but their relationship soured after Bjornsson accused Hall of cheating during the Viking Press portion of the 2017 World’s Strongest Man competition.

Hall felt betrayed by his old pal, recently saying: “This is what people don’t sort of get.
“We used to be good friends. He’s been round my house and we’ve had parties. We’ve travelled around the world together.
“But what happened at World’s Strongest Man 2017 just threw all that friendship out the window.
“It was a big dagger in the back.

“That’s irreparable, three or four years with a cloud over my World’s Strongest Man win.
“What’s that cost me in terms of my career? He just doesn’t care. I still haven’t had an apology from him, he’s not denying it.
“He keeps saying he was robbed, hard done to. At the end of the day, if he’s got solid evidence bring it up. He’s full of c***.
“Thor is not my friend. He was and I can safely say, even with an apology, I don’t want to break bread with this man.”

Watch Efe Ajagba score stunning KO of year with brutal one-punch destruction as heavyweight eyes Anthony Joshua fight

HEAVYWEIGHT Efe Ajagba improved to 15-0 with a stunning knockout of the year contender against Brian Howard. The Nigerian, who has called out Anthony Joshua in the past, landed a beautiful right hand in round three.
    Efe Ajagba improved to 15-0

It left American Howard out for the count and folded on the floor, Ajagba’s 12th career KO.
Afterwards, he said: “I felt good. I tried to pick the punches, use the jab. This guy is very slick sometimes. I tried to do the job.
“He was shaky, so when I went back to the corner after the first round, my coach told me to take my time, start with the body, leave the head.”
“I trained for this fight, took my time, started with my boxing foundation, and came back strong.
“This camp was the best one for me, the best camp ever in my boxing career. It’s my time to shine, so I’m coming for the heavyweights.”
Despite the power puncher sending a frightening message out to the division, Ajagba’s son Ejiro Tiyon enjoyed it more than most.
Ajagba posted a video of his little boy’s reaction to the highlight-reel finish, which produced all smiles from Ejiro Tiyon.
