Canelo to fight Billy Joe Saunders before sell-out 60k fans in Dallas Cowboys Stadium as Eddie Hearn meets Dana White

CANELO ALVAREZ and Billy Joe Saunders are on course to sell out the full 60,000 capacity at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Canelo unifies his WBA and WBC belts with Saunders’ WBO crown on May 8 in Texas.

With no coronavirus restrictions, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed plans to pack out the place, with 60,000 tickets almost sold.
Hearn told Yahoo Sports: “We got another six or seven thousand to go, and thankfully, we were allowed 80,000 for the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, so we’re going to be at full capacity.”
Saunders, 31, is already in America training for the fight, and visited the UFC’s Performance Institute.
There, himself and Hearn were pictured with UFC president Dana White, an avid boxing fan.
Saunders comes into the fight having boxed just once in the last 12 months, retiring Martin Murray, 38, in a title defence.
Canelo on the other hand is preparing for his third, having won the belts against Callum Smith, 30, in December, before beating Avni Yildirim, 29, two months ago.
But the Mexican superstar, 30, is admittedly gearing up for a whole new challenge in Saunders, who is unbeaten in 30 fights.
Canelo said: “He moves really well, he’s fast, he knows how to box, and that’s why I’m training.
How the two stars shape-up head-to-headCredit: The Sun

“That’s why I’m training, I know how to deal with that. I know it’s going to be a difficult fight, especially in the first rounds, and I’m getting ready for that.
“Yes, it’s different; you have to work the fight differently, and you have to be patient.
“You have to wait around round by round, but you also have to win them.
“And you can get them in the first round, eighth round, or the tenth rounds, but I’m not the same fighter I was in 2014.
“I have more experience, and I think that’ll benefit me.”

Watch Mike Tyson throw brutal KO punch as 54-year-old legend appears on AEW after officially joining ‘Inner Circle’

Jericho defeated The Pinnacle’s Dax Harwood in singles action, with Tyson acting as the ‘Special Enforcer’ for the match.
During the clash, the heavyweight icon planted one of his trademark right hands on Cash Wheeler, who was laid out.
The 54-year-old looks in sensational shape as he continues his comeback trail in the ring.
Tyson in November came out of retirement, 15 years after his last fight, to face fellow legend Roy Jones Jr, 52.
The pair boxed to a draw over eight exhibition rounds and both are already planning to fight again.
But still Tyson is set to make a run in AEW and could even one day end up facing Jericho, who he rivalled in WWE.
Jericho, 50, told Digital Spy: “It’s not to say that Mike and I won’t fight each other again in the future.
“We’ve been feuding with each other on-and-off since 2010, so it’s been a decade as it stands.

“But for right now this was the best way to tell the story and I think above and beyond we put together a really captivating two-part mini angle that started last week and ends this week for as far as we know, and also leaves an open-ended door for him to come back when the time is right.
“He loves AEW, he respects wrestling and we feel the same way, so I have no doubt in my mind that Mike will be back in AEW whenever he feels like he wants to come back.”
Jericho is also hoping to team up with the two-time heavyweight champion in a tag match.
He said: “Mike Tyson means viewers, Mike Tyson means Box Office and, you know, he looks great, he looks the part, he’s very believable.
“Last week I told him, ‘Nobody is better at being Mike Tyson than you are, so just be Mike’. He’s going to go do whatever he feels.
“That’s one of the reasons why we love having him – he’s very unpredictable, and that’s exactly what you expect and what you want when you work with him.”

Who is Ben Askren’s wife and how many children do couple have?

BEN ASKREN is back in action this weekend against Jake Paul in his first ever boxing match-up. Although a relative novice himself, Jake Paul is the favourite, but Askren has plenty of fighting experience to call on should things get hairy during the bout.
    Credit: Getty
Askren should also have his long-term partner and wife Amy ringside cheering him on.
    Who is Ben Askren’s wife?
Askren’s wife is called Amy and is a licensed estate agent at Firefly Real Estate near Milwaukee in Wisconsin.
Amy has a degree in finance from the University of Missouri and started her career in real estate soon after, selling houses in Tosa.

“Loved listening to my roommate @benaskren on the @impaulsiveshow podcast,” she wrote.
“He really is the most mentally tough person I’ve ever met. It can sometimes be annoying when you’re feeling lazy or looking for sympathy, but mostly I’m just in awe of the guy.”
Askren married Amy in 2010 and the pair celebrated their 10-year anniversary last April.
How many children do Ben Askren and Amy have?

Ex-Disney actor Paul goes into his clash with the Olympic wrestler as a huge favourite, despite only having two fights to his name.
But Askren believes the 24-year-old will tire himself out due to a lack of experience.
When the possibility of Paul gassing out was put to him during a Reddit AMA, Askren said: “Yes.”
Funky was then asked how he expects Paul to handle the loss and simply replied: “Cry.”
Askren, 36, believes he’ll stop Paul, telling ESPN: “TKO [in] round seven.”
He added: “Because I don’t have a huge amount of power. It’ll take me some time to wear him down and make him hate his life.

“And then eventually he’s gonna say, ‘Hey look, I’m a rich celebrity.
“I don’t need to get f–king punched anymore. I’m just gonna roll over.'”
Askren’s prediction amused Paul, who reckons the former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight king won’t lay a glove on him.
He told ESPN: “Go Google Ben Askren’s striking. Hahaha.
“It’s not going to go that long, it’s not going to go that long.
Jake Paul is cutting no corners with his diet

“I don’t even think he’ll hit me. I haven’t been hit one time in the face in my past two fights.
“So I haven’t even been punched as pro boxer one time. Nate Robinson landed one body shot in a clinch.
“I don’t think Ben Askren will even hit me. That’s my prediction.”
The social media star is confident of adding Askren’s name to his victim list, saying: “These MMA guys think because they throw punches they know how to box.

“The world complained because I knocked out a basketball player and not a real fighter.
“So now I’m giving the people what they want by taking on a ‘real fighter.’
“After Ben Askren is added to my knockout meme collection, what can anybody say?
“This is why I’m confident in my ability to destroy this guy.
“They have no head movement, they’re slow, they aren’t going to the gym every day and boxing.”

Haye predicts ‘physically superior’ Anthony Joshua will beat Tyson Fury – but Gypsy King relishes fighting ‘Adonises’

ANTHONY JOSHUA’s physicality will guide him to victory in his undisputed heavyweight title fight with Tyson Fury, according to former champ David Haye. The long-awaited Battle of Britain is on course to take place in the summer after the pair agreed on a venue for the first of their two showdowns.

Tyson Fury has been tipped by many to get the better of Anthony JoshuaCredit: Reuters
WBC king Fury has been tipped by many to run rings around Joshua following his emphatic dethroning of Deontay Wilder last February.
But Haye doesn’t foresee The Gypsy King getting the better of AJ, telling Sky Sports: “Joshua will win the fight.
“His loss against Andy Ruiz Jr taught him a valuable lesson about complacency and believing your own hype.
“I think Fury is flying so high after his victory in Las Vegas [over Deontay Wilder] and believes he is unbeatable. For good reason – if I were him, I’d think so too.
“Joshua has tasted defeat and will have a different mindset.
“He is so athletically gifted, an Olympic gold medallist who has had so many world title fights, he is newer to the game and is still learning.

“I think that Fury believes he is the finished article.
“Whereas Joshua doesn’t – he is learning. Fury has been celebrating for a long time.
“This isn’t a bodybuilding competition but I like the mindset and discipline of Joshua.
“In the long term of a physical game like boxing, the dedication and nutrition of Joshua [will come out on top].
“He is an underdog but I like the underdog.
“Joshua is physically superior. If they did any sport outside of boxing, Joshua would win.

David Haye reckons Anthony Joshua will get the better of Tyson FuryCredit: Getty
“A boxing match is skill-based and people believe Fury’s skills supersede Joshua’s.
“But the skilled boxer doesn’t always win. The boxer with speed, endurance, will to win, strategy, who has trained correctly?
“There a million elements that go into winning a boxing match but people ignore everything except skills.”
Joshua’s physique is certainly far more intimidating than Fury’s, although the latter could care less about looking like a cover model.
Fury said last year: “I have been going in there bald, fat and hairy and I have knocked out Adonis after Adonis.

“I used to worry about things that had never happened, probably never would happen.
“But now I am not embarrassed to take my top off, I am not trying to get a six-pack, I am just a happy, fat, bald guy.”
Despite the delay in finalising the biggest fight in the history of British boxing, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is confident their two-fight series is still on track.
When asked if the first fight will take place in the summer, the Matchroom Boxing chief told Behind the Gloves: “One hundred per cent.
“That’s the thing. Everybody wants this fight as soon as possible.

“There is no option for this fight to go at the back end of the year, and I’ve made that clear.
“The hardest thing about securing the site is in this world we live in today, most people would like to kick it to November, December.
“That’s not available. It was never available.
“What was available was a summer fight for the undisputed world heavyweight championship. That is what you’re going to get.
“Both guys want two fights this year. One will be in the summer and one will be in December.”

Naturally the American, who is believed to be worth around £510million, does his fair share of travelling, and to do so, he has the perfect means of transportation.
Mayweather, 44, owns a plush £43.5million private jet, that has taken him to destinations including Monte Carlo, Hong Kong, Bali, Fiji and Tokyo, among many others.
And true to form, not a penny has been spared in making his frequent journeys as comfortable as possible.
The Gulfstream G650 jet, dubbed Air Mayweather, has glorious interior features including luxurious leather seats and even a bed for him to get some rest.
Also on board is an in-built entertainment system, so that there’s not a boring moment in transit.
While perched on one of the leather seats, Mayweather has been known to have a nice trim, or even a rub down, having brought a masseuse aboard on a recent trip.
Far from the conditions of a stuffy commercial flight, fresh air is pumped into the aircraft every two minutes, keeping Floyd in perfect nick.

Jake Paul vs Floyd Mayweather boxing records after two fights compared as YouTuber makes jibe at unbeaten legend

JAKE PAUL has hilariously compared himself to Floyd Mayweather ahead of his boxing match with Ben Askren this weekend.Despite the fact unbeaten legend Mayweather, 44, actually fought professional boxers in his first two fights, Paul reckons his own 2-0 record against a YouTuber and a former Basketball player makes him an ‘elite fighter’.
How Floyd Mayweather and Jake Paul stack up after just two pro boxing fights
Speaking ahead of his boxing match with ex-UFC fighter Ben Askren, Paul said: “I see myself as an elite fighter right now.
“A young prospect with a lot of motivation, a lot of hunger and I think people see me as an amateur.
“There’s sort of a big difference and there’s a big gap in between where I’m actually at and what the general audience will think.
“But I’m excited again to show my ability again on Saturday, against Ben who is a world-class fighter.
“I’m in my third pro fight, I’m fighting eight rounds, headlining one of the biggest pay-per-views that could happen this decade.
“If you look at Floyd Mayweather, his third fight was six rounds, he got paid $7,000 and I don’t think anyone in this room probably watched it.”
Paul, 24, registered stoppage wins over fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib and ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, the latter he knocked out last November.
By the same stage in his career, Mayweather had won both fights aged just 19.

His debut pro fight in November 1996 against Roberto Apodaca saw him win by TKO in the second round.
And his second win was a unanimous decision over Reggie Sanders over four rounds just 19 days later.
Mayweather – now worth hundreds of millions of pounds – earned around £10k from his first two fights while Paul has pocketed more than £2m in fight purses and PPVs.
Paul has only boxed three pro rounds compared to Mayweather’s six at the same stage.
So while his early earnings far eclipsed Mayweather’s, that is about where the comparison ends.
And despite his high opinion of himself and his talents, it is fairly safe to say Paul’s stats are unlikely to stack up with Mayweather’s when he is 44 as ‘Money’ is one of the greatest of all time.

Saunders, 31, goes into his showdown with Canelo as a huge underdog – despite never having tasted defeat.
But some fight fans are predicting the slick southpaw to win the Dallas dust-up, which will take place in front of a capacity crowd at Cowboys Stadium.
Here, SunSport reveals predictions for the tasty 168lb affair from some of the biggest names in boxing.
    Mike Tyson
Iron Mike has tipped Canelo to run through Saunders, backing the Mexican to get the Brit out of the ring in TWO rounds.
He told ES News: “Two rounds. He (Billy Joe Saunders) might run though. I think he’s gonna run a little.
“He has good moves, but Canelo might wear him down.”
    Prediction: Canelo

    Tyson Fury
The Gypsy King reckons WBO 168lb champ Saunders will put on a clinic on May 8, telling Behind The Gloves: “I think Billy Joe gives him a boxing lesson.
“That’s what I’m here to see and that’s what I think will happen.
“I think everyone raves on about Canelo and how good he is and how he’s such a great guy but I just think every time Billy Joe steps into the pressure cooker he delivers, much like myself.”
He added: “Canelo’s tasted defeat and we know he can be outboxed because we’ve seen it. [Floyd] Mayweather outboxed him convincingly.
Tyson Fury is backing Billy Joe Saunders to get the job done against CaneloCredit: Instagram / @gypsyking101
“He’s had a couple of sticky fights, struggled in a couple of southpaw fights. He struggled with [Erislandy] Lara.
“If Lara was a bit more of a name, a bit more of a draw, he probably would’ve got the decision.
“Billy Joe is a very good boxer, a very slick southpaw, and I know he’ll fancy this one.
“What’s on the line here is him [Saunders] being a world champion twice or going down as a great in the sport.
“This is what’s on the line here. He’s going to shock a lot of people and it’s going to be an easier fight then people think it is.”
    Prediction: Saunders

    Demetrius Andrade
WBO middleweight champ Andrade reckons Saunders will be bounced from the ranks of the unbeaten if he fights the same way he did against Martin Murray last December.
He told Boxing Scene: “May the best man win.
“Canelo showed that he was maybe able to carry a little power [up to the 168-pound division].
“He’s trying to be a little more agile and mobile, or whatever.
“Just going off the last fight, Saunders looked like s**t when he fought Martin Murray. He couldn’t do anything.
“He really didn’t dominate him in the way that he should’ve, the way somebody supposedly that good, that talented, should’ve done against Martin Murray, who’s been out the ring for however many years.
“If he brings that same type of fight to Canelo, I think Canelo’s gonna beat him.”
    Prediction: Canelo

    Chris Eubank Jr
Saunders’ bitter rival is expecting his fellow Brit to be brutally dismantled by the imperious Canelo.
