Oscar De La Hoya training for his comeback
And with the 48-year-old set for a comeback fight in July, stunned viewers called on the American to CANCEL his return.
But De La Hoya assured fans he got ‘carried away’ and is now focusing on training.
He told DAZN: “I got a little into it, started having a couple drinks.
“Then they told me, ‘Why don’t you go and commentate?’ I got a little carried away and I apologise.
“But it’s all good. I’m back in beast mode. It’s on, baby.”
De La Hoya is making his comeback on Triller, a social media rival to TikTok.
Backed by billionaire film producer Ryan Kavanaugh, the pay-per-view promotion want an ex-UFC star to face the ‘Golden Boy’.
Eddie Alvarez, who lost the lightweight title to Conor McGregor in 2016, revealed he was in talks with Triller to fight De La Hoya.

“I’m fixated on the ONE championship belt, I’m laser-focused on getting my world title.
“I think there’s going to be a lull for a bit, if that happens I’d love to get in there and mix it up with him.
“That’d be a hell of a fight, I’d do pretty damn good against him. I’d be crazy excited to fight him.

Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing to leave Sky Sports this summer and sign £100million-plus DAZN contract

EDDIE HEARN is leaving Sky Sports to take his boxing stable to streaming app DAZN in a massive nine-figure deal. The Matchroom kingpin has struck a deal, believed to be worth around £100million, with the London-based firm to take Sky’s best fighters to their new rivals.
Eddie Hearn and Matchroom are set to leave Sky Sports this summerCredit: Dave Thompson Matchroom Boxing
Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte are separate entities free to make their own deals but superstars like Katie Taylor, Lawrence Okolie and Conor Benn are part of the agreement.
That means Taylor’s clash with Natasha Jonas on May 1 will still be on Sky – although it will be her last with the broadcaster.
Sky Sports have been bracing themselves for the move as their contract expires in June and Hearn recently confirmed he had four offers on the table.
The Essex mogul, who was elevated to chairman this week as founding father Barry stepped down, confirmed last week that Sky will have a tough job replacing him and his stable of champions.
However, the broadcasters remain confident they will cope with his exit.
Hearn said: “Sky aren’t just going to replace us with a B-option, well not even a B-option, whatever option that is. They’re going to lose a huge powerhouse of subscription driver.
“Of course we know DAZN are extremely aggressive in that space at the moment but you’re only really as powerful as your TV deal in this game.
“The reason we’ve been able to get to where we got is because of the backing of Sky and we don’t take that for granted.
“They’re been a huge part of our success and that’s why these conversations are very difficult at the moment.
CASINO SIGN UP OFFER: CLAIM UP TO £800 IN CASINO BONUS CASH

“You can also understand that if I was to make a broadcast move, it would be for a reason.
“We’ve got no reason to leave Sky outside of something that would change our life, our vision for the sport and our fighters’ lives as well.
“It’s an extremely difficult decision for us but it’s flattering. But we’ve worked hard to get here. We really have built an incredible global business and that’s part of the decision making process; the global landscape.”
Hearn has worked exclusively with Sky in the UK since 2012.
But a £740m, 16 show deal he did with DAZN for US shows in 2018 helped take his brand worldwide.

And his dream is to have an almost total monopoly on the sport like Dana White does with his MMA promotion, UFC.
He added: “We’ve turned our business around in America. We have Canelo Alvarez out there.
“We have shows in Uzbekistan, we were in Gibraltar, we are in Miami, then Barcelona, then Manchester for the pay-per-view on Sky, then we’re in Dallas, then back in the UK for a show on May 15, then we’re in Milan. It’s just unbelievable.
“We are the global force, we are probably the only global force. There’s no-one else touching what we are doing or even making a charge globally.
“We are set to become the UFC of boxing and it’s only a matter of time.”
DAZN refused to comment when approached by SunSport.

But controversy ensued as suspicious fans speculated the result was a ‘fix’ as the ex-champion failed to get to his feet.
It came as ringside footage appeared to show one of Browne’s cornermen gesturing for the heavyweight to ‘stay down’.
But reporter Brendan Bradford, who recorded the clip, responded: “People RTing this saying it’s a fix…stop pls. He got punched in the head repeatedly by an absolute savage”
Gallen, 39, has had 11 wins and one draw in his professional boxing career, which started in 2014.
He formerly played rugby league from 2006-2012 and captained  Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks to the Premiership title in 2016.

Gallen warned he is preparing to stick around in the ring as he eyes further paydays and even belts.
He said: “I had confidence in my chin against a guy like this.
“The more I train and the more I spar in the sport of boxing the better I get.
“I’m a prize fighter, I’m not here for titles. I’m about taking fights that people want to see. I’ll be having as many fights as I can so I can cash in.”

Browne, 42, is 29-3 with two of those defeats coming to Brit pair Dillian Whyte and Dave Allen.

In late 2020, Browne volunteered to face unbeaten Tyson Fury, 32, before the WBC king’s UK homecoming fight was cancelled.

UFC star Cody Garbrandt warns Jake Paul ‘you’ll be exposed soon’ and challenges YouTuber to ‘come to the cage’

CODY GARBRANDT has warned Jake Paul will be ‘exposed soon’ and challenged the YouTuber to ‘come to the cage’. Internet personality Paul extended his unbeaten boxing record to 3-0 by knocking out retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren on Saturday night.

But Askren, 36, was more renowned for his elite grappling than his striking style while competing in the octagon.
And MMA star Garbrandt was not impressed.
The American bantamweight, who competed as an amateur boxer, blasted Paul online and revealed he would be happy to give away over THREE STONE to fight the internet star in the cage.
He tweeted: “Your whole squad would get f***ed up. You beat a guy that can’t box in boxing.
“Why won’t you come to the cage? Cause your a p***y so is your whole squad. I’d give up 50 lbs to you and knock that toupee’ off your f***** head.
    “You’ll be expose (sic) soon.”
Paul’s assistant trainer J’Leon Love, 33, was quick to respond to Garbrandt, 29, and claimed boxing was more profitable than MMA.
Love tweeted: “Y’all MMA girls are doing to much crying to be so macho. The money is in the boxing ring.
“You can sign up and catch that smoke to (sic).”

Love was recently involved in a backstage altercation with ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, who cornered Askren.
Woodley, 38, called out Paul, 24, for a bout in the boxing ring but warned he would only fight Love in MMA.
He told ESPN: “I’ll fight his friend in MMA, because I wanna elbow his ass. I don’t want no little boxing, the poofy gloves.
“I wanna elbow, I wanna f***ing hit his face. I wanna almost break his arm and just let him out.
“So if his boy wants to fight me, he’s gonna have to come and see me in the cage.”

Tyron Woodley calls out Jake Paul for boxing fight after backstage row & wants MMA bout with YouTuber’s pal J’Leon Love

TYRON WOODLEY called out Jake Paul for a boxing match – but will only fight the YouTuber’s coach J’Leon Love in MMA. Woodley was in close friend Ben Askren’s corner last weekend as the ex-Olympic wrestler was knocked out by internet star Paul.

But a backstage row erupted before the bout as the former UFC champion visited the opposing team’s locker room.
There, he was confronted by Love, a 24-3-1 boxer who has worked as an assistant trainer to unbeaten Paul since last year.
Love, 33, challenged Woodley, 38, to a boxing match, while Paul, 24, did the same to UFC legend Daniel Cormier, 42.
But Woodley is only interested in boxing Paul to avenge Askren’s loss and instead told Love to meet him in the cage.

He said on ESPN: “You had a lot to say in the locker room, let’s fight.
“I wanna hear what [Jake Paul] gotta say about it. You wanna fight me? He could fight me.
“I’ll fight his friend in MMA, because I wanna elbow his ass. I don’t want no little boxing, the poofy gloves.
“I wanna elbow, I wanna f***ing hit his face. I wanna almost break his arm and just let him out.
“So if his boy wants to fight me, he’s gonna have to come and see me in the cage.”

Askren, 36, was brutally KO’d by Paul inside two minutes and afterwards revealed he wants long-time training partner Woodley to face the internet sensation.
He said: “Tyron is my obvious pick, because Tyron’s a way better boxer than I am. Like, way, way better.
“That’s not even really a comparison in my mind. I wasn’t good at boxing at all!
“My whole take was, I can put 11 weeks into this and be good enough to beat him. Tyron is actually very good at boxing.
“Obviously I’d like to see Jake lose. So I hope it’s Tyron.”

Andy Ruiz Jr shows off slim new body after gym workout following two-stone weight loss as he trains for comeback fight

ANDY RUIZ JR is fighting fit as he prepares to get back to winning ways. The Mexican makes his ring return against Chris Arreola on May 1, 18-months after his defeat to Anthony Joshua.
Andy Ruiz Jr is looking in terrific shape ahead of his comeback bout
The Mexican steps back into the ring for the first time in 18-months
Rotund Ruiz Jr stunned the boxing world when he became world heavyweight champ after beating AJ in 2019.
He barely threatened in the rematch and later admitted he had been too interested in partying and celebrating after his shock win – while piling on more pounds.
The tubby scrapper tipped the scales at 20 stone and later admitted to wanting to ‘crawl under my bed and just hide and eat Cheerios.’
But now, Ruiz Jr looks like he means business after a video emerged on Instagram as he prepares to take on his 40-year-old opponent.
The 31-year-old appears in terrific shape as he plots his route back to becoming a boxing champion.
After weighing in at 283lbs in his Joshua rematch, Ruiz Jr is down to around 257lbs as his comeback fight against Arreola draws into view.
Should he get back into winning form, a potential showdown with Dillian Whyte is on the cards – as revealed by SunSport earlier this month.
Ruiz Jr revealed there is no secret to getting back into shape – just old fashioned hard work and healthy eating.

He told Fight Hub TV: “I’ve always been overweight and now I’ve been dropping weight normally and in the right way; by eating right, not just wearing the sauna suit, starving yourself…
“Because that’s what I used to do back in the day. But now that we’re eating the right things, we’re working on the right things, I feel amazing.
“I can do better stuff that I couldn’t do before because of my big gut, I had chi-chis, I had t**s that wouldn’t let me throw the right punches and all that.
“But now I’m more motivated, I’m more dedicated in this sport and sky’s the limit.”

Billy Joe Saunders’ epic five-year body transformation as he shows off ripped abs and bulging biceps for Canelo fight

BRITISH star Billy Joe Saunders looks in the shape of his life for his super-middleweight unification bout against Saul Alvarez on May 8.The 31-year-old puts his WBO belt on the line as he looks to rip the WBA and WBC strap away from his Mexican rival at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

Under the guidance of trainer Mark Tibbs, the unbeaten Arsenal fan is showing he means business as he continues to work on his physique.
The two-weight world champion is currently training in Las Vegas for the dust-up with Canelo alongside Tyson Fury.
And he has shown off his ripped abs and biceps ahead of the huge fight – a far cry of what he looked like in the build-up for his December 2016 clash against Artur Akarov.
In what was his first defence of his WBO middleweight title a year after dethroning Andy Lee, Saunders piled on the pounds due to injuries and postponements.
Speaking after his disappointing performance in which he won on points, Saunders admitted: “There was nothing there.
“I’ve been out a year, overweight. A few adjustments to camp. Just flat, really, really flat.
“I’d like to apologise to the fans, especially those who paid for it. Terrible performance.”
And Saunders even spoke of his poor diet before his December bout against Martin Murray.

He remarked: “Martin is obviously a good family man and he lives the life outside the gym probably better than me – maybe that makes it more equal.
“I go up (in weight) like a fat pig so he’s in camp training all the time while I’m sitting back eating cakes, then I get a phone call saying this is what you’re getting, go to camp and train and fight.”
But Saunders has pulled out all the stops as he prepares for the biggest fight of his career, as he knows he must be in tip-top shape to stand any chance of beating pound-for-pound king Canelo.
His close friend Fury is confident he will secure the victory, as he said: “I think Billy Joe gives him a boxing lesson.
“Everyone raves on about Canelo and how good he is, but every time Billy Joe steps into the pressure cooker he delivers, much like myself.
“He’s going to shock a lot of people and it’s gonna be an easier fight than people think. I’m gonna be there and I’m gonna hold them belts with him when we win.”
