Watch Deontay Wilder’s explosive first training session since announcing comeback with Tyson Fury fight still on cards

DEONTAY WILDER has shown off his explosive power in his first workout since announcing plans to return to the ring.A February 2020 defeat to Tyson Fury stripped the Bronze Bomber of his world titles and the two camps have failed to organise a trilogy contest.

Despite the Brit being on the verge of a unification fight with Anthony Joshua, Wilder remains intent on what he recently called ‘revenge’.
On Tuesday night, the American posted a clip of his workout with former heavyweight rival Malik Scott.
He captioned the post with a Filipino message, which translates as: “The Rebirth of the King.”
Scott was Wilder’s 31st pro career victim when he was flattened in the first round of their 2014 contest.
Since then, the pair have struck up a good relationship and the 40-year-old was enlisted to help train Wilder after they began sparring.
The former world champ, 35, fired coach Mark Breland following the Fury defeat.

Scott teased a potential showdown with Fury when posting the clip to his Instagram.
He wrote: “Retribution is on the menu.💣..Not long now.⏳ #eitherwaywewin #Thebigpayback.”
Wilder will likely have to wait for a third shot at Fury and both Dillian Whyte and Andy Ruiz Jr have been touted for a showdown before then.
During an appearance on the We Might Need Counselling Podcast, he alluded to the difficulties he is facing in grabbing the Gypsy King for another battle, and said: “Trust is hard to come by because it’s money.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures. It’s a sport that I love, and I’m going to continue to do it and show my greatness in it.
“I got a lot of things that I want to do in this sport. But politics play a big part in certain things happening. Management, promotion companies.
“Certain guys don’t want their fighters to fight certain guys because they plan for their guys. It’s a lot that goes on.”

Luke Campbell warns Brit lightweight rivals not to write him off into retirement aged 33 after Ryan Garcia loss

LUKE CAMPBELL has warned his British lightweight rivals not to write him off into retirement just yet.Hull’s 2012 Olympic hero lost his third world title crack in January after travelling to America to face red-hot prospect Ryan Garcia.

The 33-year-old has recovered at home with his family and opened his own gym, where he has bulked up with some new muscle.
But a look at the domestic boxing rankings – where Welshman Lee Selby and Belfast’s James Tennyson have climbed above him – might have got his knuckles itching again.
The southpaw told SunSport: “I haven’t mentioned anything about retirement, I have just been living family life and working on opening my new gym.
“A lot of other people have talked about it but I am not sure and I am staying in shape.
“I will have a look at the opportunities and see what opportunities are out.
“James Tennyson would not last six rounds with me and Lee Selby is a mover who would be a bit more tricky and awkward but I would take care of both of those guys – no problem.
“There isn’t a lightweight in Britain who should be ranked ahead of me and I would still have no problem proving that.”

Campbell’s fellow Team GB star Anthony Ogogo landed a bronze at the home games but was forced to retire after just 12 pro fights following a tragic eye injury.
The Norfolk middleweight went through a series of heartbreaking operations to try to resurrect his career but has now found an incredible new calling back in a very different sort of ring.
The former middleweight has burst on to the professional wrestling scene as heavyweight powerhouse in AEW – the new brand taking on WWE.
And Campbell is hugely impressed by his old room-mate but fears he will always be too little to join him.
He said: “I have caught a bit of Anthony wrestling but I haven’t spoken to him as he is over in America so much. It is certainly something different and I take my hat off to him.

“Injuries forced him out of the sport and job that he loved – before he could achieve most of the things he dreams of – and he has found a whole new calling and career.
“He did always like it though, I remember us being in camp he would always be watching it, staying up until 5am to watch the pay-per-views.
“I think he calls himself ‘The Guv’nor’ so he is clearly giving it a right crack and fair play to him.
“Not sure it’ll be for me though, I’ve never seen many lightweight wrestling stars as skinny as me.”
Everyday 18 people lose their lives to suicide in the UK.That’s why on 10th May I’m officially returning to boxing in support of @theCALMzone 🥊18 different opponents, 18 rounds of (shadow) boxing, while also having an open chat about our own experiences with mental health. pic.twitter.com/9zuF9VPzos— Luke Campbell MBE (@luke11campbell) April 14, 2021

The R-word is always a hard one to put to boxers, very few people are around at the start to help them into the sport, so how dare anyone try to force them out of it?
But Campbell has learned enough about the sad roll call of brilliant champions and brave men who have ended up penniless or hopeless when the final bell tolls.
“Growing up in boxing I have always watched boxers struggle in retirement and always vowed that it would never be me,” he said.
“I have learned from every mistake that sadly those before have made so, in a way, I have been planning my own exit strategy and retirement for the last 15 years.

“But I also know it is not as easy as that. Boxing is so strict and structured that stopping will cause a huge change and leave a huge hole in anyone’s life.
“Most boxers’ identity, my identity, is being a fighter, it has defined me. And leaving that will leave me asking ‘who am I?’ and that is the scary bit.
“That must be what a lot of fighters sadly struggle with and that is what I will be working against.”

Jake Paul scoffs at 50/50 deal with Tommy Fury and insists Love Island star is only written about because of him

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren is keen to make the fight but wants both men to receive an even split of the profits.
That suggestion has amused Paul, who told ESPN: “No one has ever watched any of his fights, the only reason people know of him is because of me.
“He started talking about me and his brother called me out on his behalf.
“No one has ever watched a Tommy Fury pay-per-view so no one knows if he will do numbers at the box office.

“This guy only has a name and has articles written about him because of me and you’re asking for 50/50… take it somewhere else.”
Paul – who made waves last weekend by attending UFC 261 – is willing to fight the former reality TV star, but only after he beats someone of note.
He added: “Maybe when he fights someone with a winning record and a highlight performance then it makes sense for us to fight, but until then, move on.”
Paul reckons Fury, 21, has padded his record by fighting less than stellar opposition.
He said: “Everyone wants me to fight the best fighter in the world but that’s not how this fight game works. You build up your experience and you fight people at the same skill level.

“A lot of people fluff their record, Tommy Fury has fluffed his record like crazy. you see it all the time in boxing.
“The next test for me is to go up against a real striker and we’ll see what happens next.”
Should the fight come together, Paul believes the contest will be a lucrative one for all parties involved.
He said: “I think it’d be a massive fight. He’s fought scrubs to make himself look good.
“People will say the same about me, but I’ve fought guys with winning records like Ben Askren and AnEsonGib.

How ‘broke’ Floyd Mayweather won and lost $1bn career earnings from lavish parties to love of luxury jewellery

FLOYD MAYWEATHER is part of an elite list of sportsmen to have earned a billion dollars during their career – along with NBA legend Michael Jordan and golf idol Tiger Woods.Yet last year he was still been forced to deny ‘crazy’ accusations he needs to make yet another boxing comeback because he’s somehow blown his extraordinary wealth.
Floyd Mayweather has made $1billion in career earnings but many have claimed he’s actually ‘broke’
Mayweather is set to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul this summer
Rapper 50 Cent claimed Mayweather’s ‘money’s gone’ with ex-UFC star Chael Sonnen claiming he will have to fight again just to make some cash
In November 2019, the 44-year-old announced he was ‘coming out of retirement in 2020’ and would be working with UFC boss Dana White on a ‘spectacular event’.
Having last faced Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018 – winning within seconds – the 2020 comeback never materialised, despite rumours swirling.
And earlier this week it was confirmed Mayweather would take on YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul in an exhibition fight on June 5, 2021 after months of back-and-forth.
Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen once claimed Mayweather was ‘broke’ and was forced into taking another fight for a desperately needed payday.
In 2018, Sonnen said: “I will tell you unequivocally, right now, Floyd Mayweather does, and is planning, to box one more time.
“Floyd’s broke. You’ve got to understand, the only thing more embellished than Floyd Mayweather’s pay-per-view numbers is Floyd Mayweather’s net worth, and he made a lot of money…
“But remember this: It does not matter what you made, it matters what you kept, and he is a dumb-dumb.”
Despite officially retiring in 2017 after beating UFC star Conor McGregor in a money-spinning crossover bout which is said to have earned the American £300m, Mayweather has resorted to charging fans £1,200 for online meet-and-greets.

He also went on a UK tour before the coronavirus pandemic, with former friend and now rival 50 Cent claiming the boxer’s ‘money’s gone’ and will ‘be at your local nightclub because he needs that action right now’.
But how could Mayweather possibly have frittered away his entire fortune?
He still regularly posts videos on his social media flaunting his impressive jewellery collection, chains and stacks of cash.
Mayweather himself has confessed for having a passion for watches, and in January last year showed off his 41-piece collection with a £14m ‘Billionaire watch’ by Jacob & Co the most expensive of the lot.
As a Las Vegas resident he is also an avid gambler, and according to Terezowens, Mayweather won nearly £2.3m betting on college football in 2012.
But the gamble doesn’t always pay off.
According to diaspora7 sources in 2018, the five-weight champion was in nearly £40m debt from betting, and wanted to rematch Manny Pacquiao to pay it off.
In 2009, he was forced to pay £4.5m back in taxes and in 2018 settled for £600,000 with the Securities and Exchange Commission for failing to disclose payments.
Before fighting McGregor, Mayweather owed the IRS £17.8m, and sued them so that he could pay the debt after his lucrative bout with the Irishman.
The boxer’s watch collection is worth over £16millionCredit: Instagram / @floydmayweather
Mayweather has properties in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and needs them to keep all his red wine in
During the pre-fight build up, Notorious voiced his concern at Mayweather’s apparent gambling issue.
McGregor said: “He needs to let that gambling go – he’s a bit heavy on that gambling. He’s always talking about doing it and then not doing it.
“I certainly know he has a big-time gambling problem, from seeing him. He gambles on half-times and things like that.
“He shows what his wins are, never shows what the losses are. Maybe that’s why he’s in the position he’s in and he had to take this fight. I’m focused on the fight, not gambling.”
And in 2018, 50 Cent said: “He gets in an uncomfortable space when he spends the money.
“He going try to spend it all… the money, the gambling and the girls get him every time.”
Mayweather has a whole garage of luxury vehicles including FIVE Rolls-Royces worth over a staggering £2m.
That is on top of his Vegas home worth £8m, a Miami property costing £6.2m and Beverly Hills mansion which he spent £19m on.
Throughout his career the boxing legend would also fly on his own private jet, which he now uses in retirement as he travels the world.
Mayweather not only enjoys attending lavish parties, but hosting them, as he splashed the cash on his 43rd birthday bash in LA with a host of celebrities attending the event

Despite the overwhelming amount of spending, Mayweather is said to have earned at least £500m alone for his fights against McGregor, Pacquiao and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
Before facing McGregor, Mayweather showed off the guaranteed $100m cheque he was given by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which he claimed was uncashed.
And McGregor swiftly replied: “That’s for the taxman.”
Last year, Mayweather revealed he would ‘absolutely’ come out of retirement for a McGregor rematch, or to fight UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, but wants £480m to face the two.
He said: “Like I said before, I’m retired but I’m not retired from getting a couple of dollars. If I’m able to entertain the world and have some fun, and this is easy entertainment and I can make $600million with two guys, why not?
“If I can go get $600-more-million invested and leave it to my children and my grandchildren and my loved ones, why not? Absolutely.”
Mayweather shows off an uncashed $100m fight cheque from the McGregor fightCredit: Getty
Mayweather plays poker for silly money on board his private jet
Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz had told TMZ Mayweather was ‘begging’ to box the UFC champion, because he needed the money.
Abdelaziz said: “Floyd Mayweather to this day keeps begging to fight Khabib – begging!
“Floyd’s running out of money. I’m telling you, people are reaching out to me every week about Floyd to fight Khabib but at the end of the day, we’re not interested – for now.”
Mayweather – who continues to promote fighters – still shows off his endless stacks of cash and jewellery online, and insisted during his time in Britain that he is NOT running out of money any time soon.
He said: “It’s crazy. You guys hear things about ‘Floyd needs money’.
“I don’t need (anything) but I don’t mind making some more money.”
And you wouldn’t bet against him doing exactly that.

Bellator were expected to pick up the Hawaiian but have seemingly been beaten to the punch by BKFC.
Ostovich, who ended her UFC career with a 1-3 record, is expected to make her BKFC debut in July.
And according to MMA Fighting, a rematch with VanZant is currently in the works.
The pair clashed in January 2019 on the UFC’s inaugural ESPN card in Brooklyn, New York.

VanZant came out of the 125lb clash victorious, submitting Ostovich with a second-round armbar.
Ostovich returned the octagon 22 months later – a hiatus which was in part down to an eight-month USADA suspension – to lock horns with Gina Mazany.
But she suffered a third-round TKO loss to The Ultimate Fighter season 18 star.
Before the fight, Ostovich seemingly predicted her days on the UFC roster would soon come to an end.
She said: “This could be my last fight – I’m looking at it in those terms. I’m feeling really good.
“No gyms are open in Hawaii and even without Covid, living on an island made things harder.
“I don’t even know how that whole (doping) situation even happened.

ANTHONY JOSHUA has taken a break from preparing for his fight with Tyson Fury by enjoying a day out on a motocross bike. The world heavyweight champion has been hard at work in the gym while waiting on an official announcement about the undisputed clash.
Joshua is known to be a big fan of motocross

But on Tuesday AJ decided a brief hiatus from training was needed and some time on the bike was his way of unwinding.
Alongside the photo of him on Instagram, he added the caption: “You can take the boy off the estate but you can’t….. you know the rest.”
Joshua has revealed in the past that his second favourite sport after boxing is motocross.
But it is fighting that the unified champ knows best and he is currently waiting on a date and location for his all-British dust-up with Fury.
The pair have signed a two-fight deal but the details of the first bout remain up in the air.
Speaking earlier this month on The Jonathan Ross Show, he said: “I’ve signed my side of the deal.
“We’ve sent him a good offer, one I’m sure he won’t refuse. He wants the fight, no doubt about it. So do I and more than me and him, the whole public want it.

Andy Ruiz Jr now drives a £785k car collection and bought a Californian mansion since defeating Anthony Joshua in 2019

ANDY RUIZ JR has come a long way since beating Anthony Joshua in 2019.The Mexican heavyweight, nicknamed ‘The Destroyer’, saw his fortune rocket to around £6m since pulling off one of the greatest upsets in sport in recent times.

The 30-year-old has been happy to splash the cash and enjoy the riches that success brought him, ahead of his return to ring against Chris Arreola this weekend.
From super cars to luxury mansions, Ruiz Jr is enjoying his fame – but it did come with its downsides after going off the rails.
    THE CARS
Before the Joshua bout, Ruiz Jr had earned around £770,000 from boxing. Not bad, but certainly not top dollar.
For stepping into the ring with AJ in June 2019, he received £5.36m – so what did he do? He built a garage of cars to envy.
Incredibly, since knocking out Joshua Ruiz Jr has amassed a car collection worth £783,275.
Most recently, he added a Mercedes G Wagon G550 worth a whopping £96,275.
    The Twin-Turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 G Wagon G550 can reach 0-60 in just 5.6 seconds, and it’s 416 Horsepower engine is limited to 130mph.
“Another one,” Ruiz said speaking of his G Wagon purchase.

And that wasn’t the only car Ruiz Jr has been seen behind-the-wheels.
He took an order on a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which has a price tag of £264,000.
Weighing 2.6 tonnes, the Cullinan can reach 0-60 in just five seconds and has a top speed of 155mph.
It’s the second Rolls-Royce in his collection, that sits nicely alongside his £258,000 Wraith that was bought just months after he downed the English heavyweight,
Finally, Ruiz Jr has a Lamborghini Urus – a footballers’ favourite and the first SUV the Italian sports car makers have ever produced – worth £165,000.
Of course, it’s spacious enough to fit in Ruiz Jr’s 6ft 2in frame.
    HOME FIT FOR A KING
Born in Imperial Valley, California to Mexican immigrant parents – Cali has always been the place to live for Ruiz Jr.
That’s why, when he made it, he bought a huge mansion for him and his family to enjoy.
And Ruiz Jr took great delight in showing off the property on Instagram.
‘The Destroyer’ gave his followers a video tour of the home, and was clearly delighted with his purchase as he posed next to one of his Rolls-Royces.

The sprawling digs boasts a stunning outdoor pool, as well as a treehouse that’s just perfect for his children (he has five, including a boy called AJ).
There’s even a basketball court should Ruiz Jr fancy shooting some hoops and have some mates over.
It’s unknown how much Ruiz Jr paid for the mansion, but you can imagine it must’ve set him back a few million – just look at the size of it!
    THE MISSUS
Not much is known about Ruiz Jr’s wife, Julie.
However, she certainly appears to be supportive. The brunette was ringside to see her husband victorious against Joshua.
Before and after the fight, cameras in Madison Square Garden panned to Julie – who was seen cheering her man on.
Weeks later, Julie sat alongside Ruiz Jr in the back of an open car for a parade in Imperial Valley where fans honoured the return of the hero.
She even held up one of his belts as fans cheered them on.

    A GENEROUS WINNER
Ever the gent, Ruiz Jr is humble enough to remember where he’s from.
Despite building a fleet of cars to die for, as well as splashing on a brand new home, he’s a total mummy’s boy.
The first thing he bought with his new-found wealth was, in fact, a car for his mother.
He joked: “I messed up all of her cars when I was young,” after revealing the purchase.

Knowing he’s set-up for life, Ruiz Jr is also going to give back to his community.
He wants to help build youth programs that’ll keep unprivileged kids out of trouble and encourage them to box instead.
“When I got knocked down, I got back up like the warrior that I am,” he said.
“To all the kids that have dreams, dream big.”
He went to to lose to Joshua in the Suadi rematch, but is looking to get back into heavyweight contention this weekend.
