Canelo Alvarez slams ‘stupid’ Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul fight and predicts he would KO old rival in their primes

CANELO ALVAREZ has slammed old foe Floyd Mayweather for fighting Logan Paul, describing it as ‘stupid’.And the Mexican, who faces Billy Joe Saunders on May 8 with three super-middleweight belts on the line, thinks he would KO Mayweather if they fought ‘at their prime’.
Canelo’s only ever defeat came in 2013 against Floyd MayweatherCredit: Getty – Contributor
It was announced earlier in the week that Mayweather would take on YouTuber Paul in an exhibition fight on June 6.
The American’s undefeated boxing record is NOT on the line.
But one boxer who might give the fight a miss is Canelo, who lost to Mayweather in 2013 in a majority decision.
Speaking on In Depth With Graham on YouTube, the 20-year-old said: “It’s not really relevant at all. It’s an exhibition, just for making money. It’s stupid.
“Why do they give licences to people who’ve never in their life thrown a punch?
“If there’s a death, the commission will be responsible. Why? Because they issued the licence for the fight.”
Although it went to a majority decision, many thought Canelo was outclassed by Mayweather in 2013 and that it should have been a much clearer result on the scorecards.
Canelo regrouped after the loss and went on to win titles across multiple weight divisions, while Mayweather retired 50-0 undefeated, his last being the 10th-round KO of Conor McGregor.

On a hypothetical rematch against his old adversary, Canelo added: “He’d have nothing to do with me.
“If we were both at our prime, our best prime, he wouldn’t have anything to do with me. Nothing. I’d knock him out.”
Mayweather said in an Instagram post: “Logan Paul and I are going to fight at Hard Rock Stadium. Mayweather Promotions, Fanmio and Showtime will team up to give you an epic event.”
The fight was originally scheduled for February 20 but it was postponed due to Covid-19-related restrictions that wouldn’t allow a full stadium, according to Fox News.
The five-time world champion must weigh in under 160 pounds and Paul under 190 pounds, according to the fighting terms.
No details were mentioned about how many rounds there will be.

Watch Derek Chisora HUG Joseph Parker at face-off as Kiwi champ vows to get nasty after Joshua and Whyte defeats

JOSEPH PARKER admits he has been a Brit of of a pushover for his English conquerors – but has vowed to get nasty with Derek Chisora. The popular New Zealand heavyweight charmed UK fight fans when he visited Cardiff in 2018 to lose his WBO title to Anthony Joshua.

And he was roughed up and bullied to the second points loss of his career six months later by Dillian Whyte.
During lockdown the 29-year-old and his family produced brilliant viral videos to keep people around the world smiling.
He certainly couldn’t hide his grin during Thursday’s face-off as Chisora, 37, leant in for a playful hug.
But he knows he has to swap comedy skits and his gap-tooth smile for dark arts and violence on Saturday.
When asked about Chisora labelling him ‘too nice’ to be a serious fighter, Parker said: “That’s not unfair, he is probably right.
“There is always an element of me being too nice and I feel I have probably been like that in a few fights. It is down to me to change that.
“It’s a character trait that is hard to change, but I think it will come with practicing how I want to be and what I want to do in the fights, in my sparring sessions.
“In the past I may have said I will be a bit more rough and aggressive but I haven’t really done it.

“This time I will be nice before and after the fight but I will be rough inside the ring and in the fight.
“And I feel like I have practiced it enough now that I will have no problem pushing and shoving Derek and anyone else around the round.
“I want to box and be smart when it’s right and fight fire with fire when the time calls. If he tries to rough me up I will be able to show him what time it is.
“I am not going to let these guys push me around and walk all over me anymore. I am here to show these guys that I mean business.”
Parker left his beautiful home to move to Tyson Fury’s Morecambe and train alongside the Gypsy King with his coach and cousin Andy Lee for this fight.
And the Samoan has adapted to their close-knit way of life, despite the vast difference between their chilly Lancashire base and his Polynesian paradise.
Parker spoke of his time training with heavyweight champ Tyson FuryCredit: Mark Robinson Matchroom Boxing
He said: “The Traveller community does feel like a tribe and in New Zealand we have diverse communities with Maoris, Samoans and Tongans and everyone sticks with their tribe.
“With Tyson and Andy Lee, I feel like I fit right into not necessarily their tribe but we understand each other.
“We get along very well and I feel very fortunate and blessed to train alongside them. It’s something new and something different. It’s always great to learn from cultures and tribes.”
Parker and the 6ft 9in WBC king struck up an unlikely friendship after the Kiwi outpointed cousin Hughie Fury in 2017.
Tyson barged into the ring after the bout to complain about the controversial majority decision – but they were all filmed topless and dancing a dodgy Haka a few hours later back at the fight hotel, forging a bond that has led to Tyson ruling out a clash with his buddy.
Parker said: “The fight with Hughie Fury was the first time I ever met Tyson.
“And then after it was the result they didn’t want, they were able to put that aside and come to the room and just chill and celebrate and do the most awful Haka I’ve ever seen by anyone.
“I stopped doing it because I knew it was that bad.
If I want to fight Fury I can keep calling him out. If he doesn’t want to fight him that’s his own decision.Joseph Parker

“But I feel that’s the point where we started this great friendship and sort of brotherhood.
“I’ve always said I would love to fight the best, but he’s made it clear to me that he will never fight me and he doesn’t see a reason to fight me and he’ll fight everyone else and I respect that.
“If I want to fight him I can keep calling him out. If he doesn’t want to fight methat’s his own decision. I think he’s just chasing other guys.”

Sunny Edwards dodging Monster Munch and terror punches in flyweight world title bid

SUNNY EDWARDS knows he has to dodge Monster Munch and horror punches to be crowned world champ on Friday night. The 15-0 flyweight is taking on IBF champ and violent KO artist Moruti Mthalane, the heavy-handed South African with the freakish power to score 26 KOs inside 39 wins in the 8st division.
Sunny Edwards has tightened his belts ahead of his IBF flyweight world title shotCredit: The Sun
Sunny, the 25-year-old little brother to former WBC flyweight champ Charlie Edwards, has saved his strictest camp for his 16th fight.
He’s also promised the crispest performance of his career as the 5ft 3in magician tries to bag his first world title and tastiest pay packet.
Ahead of the BT Sport Frank Warren show, Edwards said: “I have taken this fight a bit more seriously than I have taken some of my previous fights.
“I have been guilty sometimes in the past of getting by on talent, even though I do work very hard.
“But sometimes you could tell, by looking at me on the scales or in the ring, that I have been a little fleshy.
“My diet was not always the cleanest – you only have to look at my brother because we have the same genes – but you only have to look at how shredded he gets compared to me sometimes.
“To reach the elite and compete at the top you have to apply and dedicate yourself and I feel like I have genuinely done that this time.
“There has been no Monster Munch two weeks out from the fight, like I have been guilty of eating before. I need to be 12-round fit and 12-round strong. My tank has to be full.”
Showtime Sunny Edwards is one of the slickest fighters in BritainCredit: The Sun
Veteran Mthalane is on a 12-year, 16-fight win streak and beat his last four victims in their own backyards on trips to Japan, China and Kuala Lumpur.
Next is a road trip to the slightly less celebrated York Hall, Bethnal Green, where the brave Brit will try to replace him as the best flyweight on the planet.
“Moruti is the world No1 and has the knockout record to prove it,” Edwards added. “He has KO wins over plenty of great fighters.
“I have only been a pro for five years so I know how hard it is to be a pro for as long as he has and to go unbeaten for as long as he has.
“All the other world champions have avoided him so he is coming to my city and on a Frank Warren show, that shows why he is No1 in the division, which is what I am trying to be.”

Edwards only has four wins inside the distance but his movement is enough to make anyone dizzy.
The trickster believes he is a puzzle his 38-year-old does not have the time to unravel.
“Over 10-12 rounds I am a difficult puzzle to figure out,” he said. “I am not going to try to stop  the immovable object, I am going to dance around him and make him do what I want him to do.

“I am always changing my patterns of movement and my rhythm so it is very difficult to work me out inside 36 minutes, you probably need 60-70 rounds of sparring to learn what I do.
“Anyone is going to really struggle, especially when I take an early lead and make them start chasing the fight.
“It’s a 20×20 foot ring and I am one of the few people who can disappear inside it.” More

Ngannou’s incredible story included fighting rats for food, two two-hour journeys to get to school on an empty stomach and working at a sand mine before fleeing to France and earning his break, initially in boxing.
Now a world champion and recognised across the world, he keeps himself humble and regularly returns to his homeland, visiting the places and people who have shaped him.

Fury then suggested that Hearn is picking Canelo over his other promoted fighter, Billy Joe Saunders
Canelo, 30, has one defeat on his record – coming as a young man in 2013 against the legendary Floyd Mayweather.
Fury uploaded a clip of Hearn talking about Canelo, with the Matchroom boss saying he was ‘in awe’ of the multi-weight champ and that he ‘can’t be beaten’.
Fury wrote alongside the clip: “OMG get his b***s out of your mouth t*t.
    “He did get beat t*t.”
And the Gypsy King wasn’t finished there with his criticism for Hearn.
The WBC heavyweight champ uploaded anothwer clip showing the promoter saying that Canelo is ‘essentially my boss, and same with Anthony Joshua’.

Fury has previously hit out at Eddie Hearn as he accused him of favouring Saul Alvarez over Billy Joe Saunders

He recently labelled Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn as a ‘w*****’ for favouring Canelo.
The unbeaten Brit has been training out in Las Vegas with Fury for the unification contest where he appears to be in the shape of his life.

He took to his Instagram story where he launched into a X-rated tirade on Hearn, where he also insisted that Frank Warren is worth ten of him.
Fury said: “I think Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn are absolute w******.
“They’re up Canelo Alvarez’s ring piece a million miles. Look on the f***ing web page, all Canelo, Canelo, Canelo.
“Do you promote Billy Joe or what you little w****** p****?”
Saunders then interjected, as he quipped: “You’re a lying b****** Eddie.”

Mike Tyson was challenged to DEATHMATCH by UFC legend Royce Gracie but boxer refused as ‘there was no way I’d win’

UFC legend Royce Gracie challenged Mike Tyson to a ‘no-holds-barred’ fight ‘to the finish’, a new memoir has revealed. The boxing icon tore apart the heavyweight division in the late 1980s before a rape conviction, along with excessive partying and further personal life problems, rocked his career.

While Iron Mike was preparing his comeback to the ring, the MMA promotion UFC was founded and Brazilian fighter Gracie, now 54, won three fights on its first night in late 1993.
And his desire to be seen as the top fighter on Earth led to a stunning challenge for the Baddest Man on the Planet.
In a memoir by sports writer Fiaz Rafiq,’ To The Top: Enter the Octagon, the Ring and Entertainment’, it is revealed: “[Tyson] was challenged by the Gracie Brothers, in particular Royce, back in the early 1990s.
“The UFC champion’s perception was that Tyson was the best boxer in the world, but he refused to accept that Tyson was the best ‘fighter’.
“The Gracies had a point. They had been beating all-comers from various styles long before the Octagon was first engineered.
“And Royce wasn’t going to rest until he did everything within his means to provoke the heavyweight champion into accepting a real fight in a no-holds-barred setting.
“To settle the matter once and for all, Royce formally challenged the most feared boxer of our time to a fight to the finish, and so did his elder brother Rickson.”
Gracie felt that Tyson, 54, was beatable despite his huge frame and ferocity – yet the proposition was declined with Iron Mike feeling there was ‘no way he’d win’.

To The Top: Enter the Octagon, the Ring and Entertainment is out May 3
Rafiq wrote: “For Royce, any fight was a matter of who could implement their own strategy, and much of the Gracie style was developed to avoid even the chance of their opponent landing a lucky punch.
“What Royce lacked in brute force, he clearly made up for in technical skill, as his opponents – including a professional boxer – quickly discovered.
“‘There’s only one way to find out,’ he told me, as a smirk crept across his face followed by loud laughter. Sadly for posterity, Tyson declined.”
In fact, Gracie came back a few years later with a fresh proposal, which was dismissed by a boxing world that is now clamouring for YouTube brawlers such as Jake Paul and crossover events like Conor McGregor’s match with Floyd Mayweather.
Rafiq continued: “In Iron Mike’s case, one rejection wasn’t enough for Royce.
“In 1997 the Gracie’s challenge made the headlines again, after the publication of a one-page advert in Men’s Health in America, in which the UFC champion once again challenged the former heavyweight boxer ‘officially’. Anywhere, anytime, no rules!

“Years later I asked Royce about the famous challenge, and discovered that the heavyweight had been, at least in theory, willing to put up.
“‘I heard that my brother tried to bring him in [to the UFC],’ Royce explained. ‘He had accepted but people around him – the lawyers, managers, and the Commission – said no way, because boxing had too much to lose.
“But he had accepted and he wanted to do it. I talked to him before and he’s like, ‘I’d love to try this stuff out, man’.
“But people around him did not allow him to do it. If he lost a fight, if it happened, well, boxing was already in the decline in America so it wouldn’t be good for boxing’.”

Eddie Hearn slams Tyson Fury for ‘swanning around Vegas suite in terrible Versace shirts calling everyone a dosser’

Eddie Hearn has been irked by The Gypsy King during his bid to finalise a mega-fight with Anthony JoshuaCredit: Mark Robinson Matchroom Boxing
But the Gypsy King’s attention appears to have turned to living his best life and calling out athletes from different sports.
That has somewhat annoyed Hearn, who told talkSPORT: “Tyson Fury’s getting right up my nostrils as well.
“He’s a great fighter and he’s a great talker as well.
“I just think when I look at those two together – you’ve got one guy working behind closed doors in Finchley with a dream to become undisputed champion.
“And then you’ve got another bloke who’s swanning around in a suite at the encore in Las Vegas, wearing terrible Versace shirts, screaming on social media all day calling everyone a dosser.”
As frustrated as Hearn is with Fury’s actions, the promoter doesn’t have any reservations over his eagerness to throw down with AJ.

He added: “To be fair, I was with Tyson about ten days ago in Vegas.
“He wants the fight, we all want the fight.
“I think everyone’s just getting a bit frustrated that it’s taking probably two or three weeks longer than we expected.
“We are dealing with the same people who delivered the Andy Ruiz fight for us in the Middle East.
“We’ve dealt with them before, they’ve paid the money before, they’re solid people, they’re just professional, they like things to be done properly.

“Bob Arum has not dealt with a site deal the size of this before, leave it to me, hold tight, we’ll get it done.”
Matchroom boxing chief Hearn, who officially took the reigns from dad Barry earlier this month, is hoping to officially announce Joshua vs Fury next week.
He said: “I think if we’re not done by the end of next week then we do have a problem.
“I believe you’ll get an announcement next week, I do.
“This morning we received another draft back from the site for the final form. This is a major, major commercial deal.
“We’re talking about major legal companies that are across these drafts, it goes back, then it has to go to about three or four different parties from Tyson Fury’s side, then it goes to our side, AJ’s side, then it goes to the site agreement, the government.

“It’s not something that’s turned around in a few days. We’re right across it, we can’t do any more.
“I’m a one-man army going out to make this fight.
“Like I said, no help from them, all they do is criticise, sitting in his gaff in Beverley Hills, Bob Arum, moaning.
“Get off your backside and do something about it yourself. No, I’ll tell you what, leave it to Eddie.
“Alright, well if you’re gonna leave it to me, be quiet and wait for the contract to come in. It’s on.
“Everybody’s agreed that this fight is happening and I cannot wait because Tyson Fury is going to get knocked out by Anthony Joshua.”

In a frank interview with Graham Bensinger, the Mexican said: “I know the risks in boxing.
