Anthony Joshua insists Tyson Fury wants his ‘chiselled’ looks and says ’12 pints a day’ claim was part of mind games

ANTHONY JOSHUA reckons Tyson Fury is just jealous of his six-pack ahead of their Saudi undisputed summer showdown. The 6ft 9in Gypsy King likes to accuse AJ of being more of a bodybuilder than a boxer, because the Watford ace is always shredded with muscles.

And WBC champ Fury, who ballooned up to 28st while banned from the sport over doping and battling mental health problems, claims he has been downing 12-pints-a-day in camp and will quit their clash if he has not won inside three rounds.
But Watford’s WBA, IBF and WBO king believes his undefeated curvaceous rival would love the chiselled look, if his genes would allow it.
Speaking on Troy Deeney’s podcast, AJ said: “The man will talk about drinking pints and say he’s not interested but yet he wants to look chiselled.
“He’s training the hardest he’s ever trained, he’s the skinniest he’s ever been. He wants to have a good body, he wants to be well prepared.
“But if I have a good body, chiselled and trained, I’m a bodybuilder.
“Tyson Fury would do the exact same thing if he could. It’s all psychological warfare. What they call me is what they want to be.
“He wants to have a six-pack, that’s why he’s training as hard as he’s training right now, why he looks so chiselled, why he’s in America training.
“It’s just psychological warfare to make me not want to believe in myself.

“However, I understand what this is all about and everything he says, I am everything he wants to be.”
Joshua, 31, also believes Fury, 32, is trash talking to try to convince himself that their upcoming battle will be an easy night’s work.
He added: “The reason why he’s saying he’s drinking 12 pints is because he knows he could never do that to fight me, he knows what type of fighter I am.
“If I told you, ‘I’m drinking 12 pints, I ain’t worried about them,’ you know I’m running 12 miles more than I’ve already run before, you know I’m not drinking 12 pints.
“You know that’s how serious this challenge is, you want to make it seem so small, that’s how big you know this challenge is gonna be.
“He knows. I don’t need to talk about Tyson Fury, I don’t need to belittle the man.
“But you’re talking to me, I know I’m the man of this division and I will be for a long time.”

The two Americans drew that – and Jones Jr is seemingly happy to carry on fighting some of the sport’s true legends.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 52-year-old said: “I was told the other day that Joe Calzaghe is thinking about coming back and wants me to fight him.
“Then Tommy Hearns wants to do a five-round fight! Then Shannon Briggs.
“They all want to beat up poor old Roy. Why? I don’t know why. I don’t have anything to prove but I still love boxing.”
Calzaghe’s last pro fight was actually a unanimous points win against Jones Jr in 2008.
At the age of 49, if the two fought again they would have a combined age of 101.
The news comes just days after Brit boxing legend Lennox Lewis confirmed he IS in talks to fight Mike Tyson again.
Lewis was the victor when the two former heavyweight champs fought in 2002, knocking out the ‘Baddest Man On The Planet’ in the eighth round.

He said: “Not yet, but soon — maybe. We’re talking.”

He is currently in talks for a rematch 19 years in the making with Lennox Lewis, 55, and claimed the fight was set for September.
But Bryan, 31, instead laid out a sensational proposal and called out Tyson, 54, to defend his secondary world title against the icon, who is 23-years his senior.
Via World Boxing News, he said: “Bring on Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. I’ll take their belts and become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
“I’ll even give Iron Mike Tyson the opportunity to come back and fight me for my title. I’m more than ready, so let’s get it on. We are ready to go.
“I’ll take on Mike Tyson for a tune-up, and then I’ll fight either Joshua or Fury the same night.”
Bryan won the belt against in January, beating ex-WBC champion Bermane Stiverne, but is yet to defend it.

And during a session in Top Rank’s Vegas gym, he was asked to send out a message to ‘the bodybuilder’ Joshua.
Fury said: “You’re getting smashed motherf***er. Look at me when I tell ya, you’re getting f***ing smashed.”
Despite looking in tremendous shape, it is not all work no play for Fury, as he visited a gun range.
Posing with a machine gun, he posted: “Only in America. Living the American dream.”
Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, signed to fight each other in March, with promoters left to agree a date and venue.

Fury confirmed he will be ringside to watch his close friend Saunders after borrowing Bob Arum’s private jet to fly to Arlington.

And there, Hearn and the Gypsy King could confirm the summer unification.
Hearn said: “Hopefully we can announce the big one out there as Fury will be there.
“It would be amazing to announce that before or after the fight as it’s a massive show.”

And Eubank has put his money where his mouth is as he revealed evidence of his bet, which would give him even money back.
But he has vowed to donate his potential winnings to charity should Canelo win inside the distance.
Eubank tweeted: “The bet has been placed! Billy Schmoe Saunders to get cleaned out by Canelo Alvarez this Saturday.
“Oh… & the 10k I stand to win will all go to charity.”
Eubank, 31, was beaten by Saunders, also 31, in 2014 but the pair have feuded ever since.
Initially, the son of British boxing legend Chris Sr revealed he wanted his former opponent to win, setting up a blockbuster rematch.
But after some thinking time Eubank, who beat Marcus Morrison on his ring return, made a U-turn.
He told iFL TV: “Now that I’ve actually thought about it, people are like, ‘You really wanna,’ No, I don’t want to lose that.

“I don’t want to lose £10,000. Thinking about it, he needs to be taken out of the game. He needs to be taught a lesson by Canelo.

BILLY JOE SAUNDERS says his fight against Canelo Alvarez is back ON – but a replacement is being flown out anyway just in case. The eagerly-anticipated super-middleweight title unification bout with the pound-for-pound king was in danger of falling through due to a row over the size of the ring.

The pair were initially set to trade blows in a 20ft ring at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, which Team Saunders thought gave Mexican mauler Canelo an unfair advantage.
Saunders, along with his best mate and WBC king Tyson Fury, wanted a 22ft ring, at least.
But now there appears to have been a compromise reached.
Saunders shared a video on his social media last night, saying: “Hey all, just wanted to say, I’m pleased the issue is sorted because obviously you can see I tagged Eddie Hearn and Canelo in the last video.
“The ring is not a problem, so thumbs are up, chilling back watching a few films, Eddie, get the ring in mate.”
Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn was seemingly worried enough to have fellow Brit John Ryder ready to step in for Saunders.
Boxing News reported that Ryder, who lost to Saunders in 2013, ‘is flying out to Texas and has declared he is willing to jump in and face Canelo’.
They add: “Ryder was training for a fight in June and set to fly out for promotional work regardless.”

Fan favourite Fury goes into the long-awaited Battle of Britain as the bookies’ favourite despite his lengthy hiatus.
But former WBA and IBF heavyweight champ Foreman insists there are ‘many champs’, Joshua included, capable of getting the better of The Gypsy King.
During a Twitter Q&A, Foreman said: “There are a few of champs who can beat Fury.”
Despite believing Joshua is capable of handing Fury his first professional loss, Foreman doesn’t foresee AJ beating his countryman.
Foreman, the oldest heavyweight champ in boxing history, told iFL TV: “That boy Tyson Fury, you’re going to have to bring everything you’ve got to beat him.
“And I’m going to be honest with you, I just cannot see Joshua beating him.

“All sides are reviewing the contract. I believe we will get an answer next week.
