Floyd Mayweather slams Logan and Jake Paul over lack of respect and ‘crossing the line’ in explosive fight face-off

FLOYD MAYWEATHER has told Logan Paul: Show me some respect. The American legend came to blows with Internet star Logan and his loudmouth brother Jake on Thursday amid chaotic scenes at Hard Rock Stadium as the build up to the June 6 fight exploded with rage.

Mayweather was seething after Jake flipped his hat off during a TV interview while both parties exchanged nasty jibes and punches.
And the undefeated 44 year-old superstar reckons both need to realise just who they are messing with.
Mayweather told SunSport: “You can’t keep crossing the line, keep touching me, taking my hat off, touching my shoes. It’s all about respect.
“There is a thing called respect and a thing called disrespect. I am not going to tolerate any disrespect.
“I may have houses in Beverly Hills, nice estates and private jets but at the end of the day I am a man who demands respect and I will give respect.
“I know how to sell a fight but you cannot cross the line. I am human and very respectful but it’s just like a rap battle.
“They can say certain things about me, I can say things about them. But what I won’t do is push or touch anyone.
“I get paid to fight but I won’t tolerate any disrespect. I kick ass for real. I don’t know what these young kids are used to doing but it’s all about respect. You have to reciprocate – treat me like you want to be treated.”

Jake Paul angered Mayweather by untying his laces as he spoke on stage before all hell broke loose soon after.
Mayweather added: “This is Floyd Mayweather versus Logan Paul not Jake Paul, so why when I am on stage, you untied my shoes? I don’t have a problem with that but I am not doing this because I am hurting for money, I just like to entertain.”
Logan Paul, 26, has fought just once as an amateur and once as a pro – drawing and losing to fellow YouTube star KSI – but reckons Mayweather is there for the taking.
He boasted: “After this fight I don’t want anyone to tell me something is impossible.
“I am representing the guy who was counted out, the guy who believed in himself so much that his unrelenting belief in himself propelled him to success. That’s me. I don’t just think I can beat him. I know I can beat him.”
    Mayweather, however, couldn’t care less.
He knows that as all eyes should have been on the build-up to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders’ clash this weekend, everyone quickly became transfixed on viral videos of the American superstar going ballistic at the home of the Miami Dolphins.
Canelo may be the biggest active star of today yet Mayweather, who handed the Mexican the only defeat of his career in 2013, remains pure and utter box-office – retired or not.
Logan watched on as his brother and Mayweather caused chaosCredit: AFP
He added: “Canelo was 23 and I was 36 when we fought. Look at me when I was 23. I was a monster. No fighter in history could have beaten me. No-one could beat me at any age.
“I had my time but out of all the great fighters who beat more world champions than anyone in 50 fights? They talk about the attendance for Canelo’s fight. But with 17,000 people in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, I generated $73 million in two minutes when my tickets sold out.
“You can talk about Sugar Ray Robinson or this guy did this, or he did that. Nobody did it like Floyd Mayweather.
“I retired before 40 and made a billion dollars with a real estate portfolio out of this world.
“All I do is just sit back and live the life I live. I don’t have to do an exhibition.
“This is a fight for him but for me? It’s like waking up, having a shower and putting on my clothes. It’s just another day.
“All people have been talking about is Covid and vaccines. Let’s get back to entertaining the people and having fun.”

Canelo Alvarez’s £300m DAZN fight contract broken down with P4P star exiting deal after just three of 11 bouts

SAUL ‘CANELO’ ALVAREZ’S £300million DAZN contract – the biggest in sporting history – was cut short last year after just three of the 11 bouts had been completed. The Mexican parted ways with the broadcaster and his promotional outfit Golden Boy – fronted by Oscar de la Hoya – after a dispute over the terms of the deal.
Canelo is one of the highest paid athletes in the worldCredit: EPA
It lasted less than two years having been struck before his fight against Rocky Fielding at the end of 2018.
The only other fights he undertook while the contract was ongoing were against Danny Jacobs and Sergey Kovalev.
And he has now opened up about the reasons why he decided it was time to leave the lucrative contract and become a free agent.
Speaking to In Depth with Graham Besinger, he said: “Look, I don’t like to talk much about people, but I’ve been a very loyal person, always. And I was very loyal, always with Golden Boy. [De La Hoya] is not Golden Boy. He doesn’t do anything in Golden Boy. He’s worried about drinking, and being involved in other thing.
“The decisions are made by other people. When Richard Schaefer left Golden Boy, he took all the boxers to PBC. He took all of them. And he also wanted to take me – and I was the only boxer that stayed with Golden Boy, because I’m a loyal man.
“But then, later I understood why everyone had gone and why Richard Schaefer left. Because those who are in Golden Boy, they are only looking after their own benefit, not the boxer’s benefit.
“There’s no loyalty there [in Golden Boy]. None. They don’t even know what that is. We were involved in a lawsuit in Miami [with All Star Boxing], which I think we would win because they were lying about everything.
“So we won the lawsuit, but the jury determined that I indeed wasn’t under contract, but I had to give [All Star Boxing] eight million dollars. But before that, when I signed before the fight with Cotto with Golden Boy, I came to an agreement with [Golden Boy on the All Star lawsuit].

“And that’s when I became aware that they were only concerned about themselves, not about me.”
Canelo was earning around £28m per fight but wanted to earn more if he took on one of the bigger names such as Gennady Golovkin.
However, he insists DAZN wanted to pay him the same fee irrespective of who the opponent was, something he refused to get on board with.
“Yes. It was something completely different. I my contract, I said, the fights are for such amount, but if I fight against Golovkin, or Mayweather, or a name like that, that’ll have to be negotiated,” he added.
“Because I’m not going to fight for the same amount. We negotiate it. But no. Golden Boy had already promised [those fights] and had already signed with DAZN that I was going to for sure fight with Golovkin for the same amount. And they never told me that.”
Alvarez left Golden Boy and DAZN in 2020 but immediately returned to the streaming platform on a two-fight deal with British promoter Eddie Hearn.
The first fight of that deal was a third round stoppage of Avni Yildirim in February, with the second a unification clash against Billy Joe Saunders this weekend.
Canelo and Saunders came face to face earlier this week after a heated argument over the size of the ring nearly led to Britain’s WBO super-middleweight champion flying home.
The pair will clash at the AT&T Stadium in Texas in front of 70,000 fans on Saturday night. More

Jake Paul opens door to fighting Floyd Mayweather but YouTuber says legend ‘doesn’t want to risk his record’ against him

JAKE PAUL has opened the door to fighting Floyd Mayweather but said the boxing legend ‘doesn’t want to risk his record’ against him. Mayweather faces Jake’s older brother Logan on June 6 in Miami, but in an exhibition bout not counting on their professional records.
Floyd Mayweather and Jake Paul during their confrontationCredit: AFP
All hell broke loose as the Paul brothers came face-to-face with the sport’s richest star of all time to promote the pay-per-view spectacle.
But it was Jake who sparked a mass melee after he stole Mayweather’s hat, with Logan also involved in the ugly scenes.
Speaking just days before the sensational brawl, Jake, 24, who is 3-0, confirmed his interest in fighting 50-0 Mayweather, 44, after Logan, 26.
But he demanded it be a professional contest with their unbeaten records on the line.
Jake told SunSport: “I don’t want to do exhibitions and I think that’s the difference between Floyd and I and even my brother and I.
“I want legitimate pro fights that are sanctioned, I want to build my pro record.
“I don’t think Floyd would actually fight me outside of an exhibition as he doesn’t want to risk his record.
“Maybe if we can come to some kind of agreement around that, I’d fight Floyd. But I’m not doing like the circus, exhibition s***.”

Despite Jake’s warning, he was at the centre of attention as Mayweather furiously chased after him having seen his cap nabbed.
The YouTuber claimed a member of Mayweather’s security punched him in the face but he was still all smiles afterwards.
So much so that he even had a brand new tattoo inked on his leg which read ‘gotcha hat’ with a cap underneath.
An irate Mayweather failed to see the funny side of the clash and was captured backstage yelling: “I’ll kill you mother f***er. You crazy?
    “I don’t know who the f*** you think you’re playing with. I don’t play no motherf***ing games. I’ll f*** you up.”
But not everyone was so convinced, as ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 32, called Mayweather ’embarrassing’.

And he even insisted the American great should THANK Jake for helping boost the potential PPV buys for his exhibition with Logan.
McGregor, 32, who was beaten by Mayweather in 2017, posted on Instagram: “What the f*** is Floyd at?
“The kid curled up, didn’t fight back once, and Floyd is still running around acting the tough guy.
“The kid actually just pulled this shambles of a situation Floyd is in out of the drain for him. He should thank him. It’s embarrassing!
“Pro to pro it’s embarrassing. He will not scratch 10m for this fight and he knows it. It was cancelled once already.
“The world is watching this on Twitter. He’d fight a half decent pro and command 20m upwards, yet its this s***.
“Whatever way you spin this, it’s sad. Fight someone for real, on your record, or f*** off mate. Slap head.”

Floyd Mayweather and Jake Paul tale of the tape: How boxing legend and YouTube rival compare after ugly brawl

FLOYD MAYWEATHER is embroiled in a war with Jake Paul after the YouTuber caused mayhem at a press event involving older brother Logan. Mayweather is due to fight Logan in an exhibition bout at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on June 6.

The pair got a first look at each other at a pre-fight press conference – but all the talk afterwards centred on younger sibling Jake.
The prankster shouted at the 50-0 star “you wanna make it two in one night” to which a fired-up Money replied “yes”.
A scuffle then broke out, during which Jake stole Mayweather’s cap.
It now looks likely Mayweather will at some point fight the younger of the Paul brothers – but how would they match up?
    Floyd Mayweather
Mayweather closed the curtain on his professional career in 2017 after beating former UFC champion Conor McGregor in ten rounds.
He retired with a perfect 50-0 record and won world titles in five different weight classes while selling 29MILLION pay-per-view buys in total.
Mayweather has maintained he will not risk his health and perfect 50-0 record against the current crop of top prospects or champions.
But he has opened the door to spectacle fights against celebrities and UFC stars, starting with Logan Paul.
It will be the first time he has fought anyone of Logan’s inexperience and social media status.
He did wipe out featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in a 2018 exhibition in Tokyo, Japan, adding £7m to his fortune.
Mayweather claims to have earned $1billion during his career and did top Forbes rich list of the decade in 2019.
Jake is another candidate to help boost the American all-time great’s bank account while creating unforeseen fanfare across two sections of supporters.

    Jake Paul
The viral vlogger turned professional in 2020 and has recorded three knockout wins from as many fights.
He started by beating fellow YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, then ex-NBA player Nate Robinson and most recently former UFC welterweight Ben Askren.
Despite Jake accelerating through the novice stages of his career, he has already called out UFC legend Conor McGregor.
And now he fancies a crack at boxing royalty Mayweather.
Jake, like his older brother Logan, has a farcical skill and experience disparity compared to Mayweather.
But he does have a THREE STONE weight and five inch height advantage.
Jake is also coached by J’Leon Love – a former protege of Mayweather’s who will have a special insight on his former mentor.
And while the 24-year-old may have little to offer in terms of pulling off an upset, he does have a huge online presence, with 20MILLION subscribers.
He is also backed by the Triller app and billionaire businessman Ryan Kavanaugh, who will have the cash to front for Mayweather.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: What date will fight take place, what is the venue, how much money will both earn?

ANTHONY JOSHUA vs Tyson Fury is the fight EVERY boxing fan wants to see – so just when will these two Brit superstars get it on in the ring? Both are coming off big victories, and 2021 should be the year they finally meet face-to-face in the squared circle.

Joshua vs Fury – when will it happen?
According to multiple players close to the deal – this summer.
During the summer of 2020, news had spread that the pair verbally agreed to terms on a two-fight deal for 2021, providing the pair could skate through their next challenges unscathed.
Joshua held up his end of the bargain by knocking out Kubrat Pulev, while Fury looks like he’s managed to escape a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.
Fury beat Wilder in Feb 2020 to win the WBC world heavyweight titleCredit: AP:Associated Press
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has said that the fight will take place on either July 24, July 31 or August 7.
And last month, Hearn confirmed both sides had SIGNED an agreement to fight twice this year.
He told ESPN: “We’d like to get a site deal confirmed in the next month.
“The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper. But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters.
“I just feel that this fight is so big it’s not a difficult sell. We’ve already had approaches from eight or nine sites. The offers have come from multiple countries in the Middle East, from Asia, Eastern Europe and America.
“This is the biggest fight in boxing and one of the biggest sporting events in the world,” Hearn said.

Joshua vs Fury – where will it take place?
Wembley Stadium in London initially looked to be completely off the cards, at least for the first fight anyway.
But Hearn recently revealed that if it could be guaranteed the showpiece event could host 100,000 spectators, then Joshua would sign on the dotted line for the venue agreement immediately.
Ideally, all parties involved with making Joshua vs Fury will want as many fans as possible in attendance to capitalise on a likely huge and historic gate.
The coronavirus pandemic has kept fans out of British boxing arenas since March 2020, apart from the 1,000 that were allowed to watch Joshua vs Pulev on December 12.

The UK is still in the process of coming out of lockdown, with the situation to be reviewed in the coming weeks.
As for venues abroad… Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Singapore, Australia and the U.S. all look to be viable options.
It’s now just about which country stumps up the most money to host the fight. Saudi already have a good relationship with Hearn, Joshua and Matchroom, having hosted AJ’s rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019.
Fury has also competed in Saudi, albeit in a WWE ring rather than a boxing one.
Reports over the past few days have suggested that Jeddah is the city which has been chosen by Fury and Joshua.
Joshua vs Fury – how much will they earn?
A lot. That’s the simple answer. Both Joshua and Fury have already made upwards of £40million each for their respective fights with Ruiz Jr and Wilder.
So when they fight each other, expect the figures to be at last double that.
Hearn also spoke last week about how he expects the pair to make ‘Mayweather money’, referencing the grand purses Floyd used to pull in for his fights.

“It’s certainly I think, you know, the biggest fight, the most lucrative fight, in boxing right now – unquestionably,” Hearn said.
“That’s Mayweather money. You know? And we haven’t seen Mayweather money since Mayweather.
“I think it’s impossible to give a number. There’s no set purses for this fight because, obviously, it’s a revenue share. But it’s certainly gonna break records everywhere.”
It’s been speculated, however, that the pair could earn £80m each.
Joshua vs Fury – what hurdles are left to clear?
Back in the latter months of 2020, there were quite a few, but we look to be in a much stronger position right now.
First, Joshua had to beat Pulev, which he did emphatically with a 9th-round knockout.
Fury had been targeting a third fight with Wilder, but once that didn’t come to fruition, an interim bout with Agit Kabayel has been planned – but that also fell through.
It seems Fury decided his best bet would be to wait it out until he can fight AJ.
Joshua beat Ruiz Jr over 12 rounds in Saudi to win back his world titlesCredit: PA:Press Association
One problem he has, however, is Wilder, who believes the clause he exercised to compete in a third fight hasn’t been honoured.
Team Fury says the clause expired back in October, while Wilder’s side have gone the legal route to get that trilogy rematch.
Neither Hearn nor Fury’s American promoter Bob Arum expect there to be any way Wilder can win that case, and they expect Joshua vs Fury to happen.
Usyk is the WBO heavyweight title mandatory challengerCredit: Getty – Contributor
There’s also the WBO mandatory situation, and while not one that will prohibit the fight from happening, one that could affect which belts are on the line.
Oleksandr Usyk is the WBO’s mandatory challenger, but it’s thought the Ukrainian will end up fighting Joe Joyce for an interim version of the title instead.
Expect Usyk to be handsomely paid for that fight.
Joshua vs Fury – what channel will it be on in the UK?
This could be a tricky one.
Joshua has an exclusive deal with Sky Sports in the UK, and while Fury’s deal with BT Sport isn’t exclusive, he’s closely aligned with them.
Fury, however, has fought on Sky Sports Box Office before, most notably for his world heavyweight title win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
Eddie Hearn says the fight will be signed in the next four weeksCredit: PA:Press Association
Don’t be surprised if the two sides come to an agreement where both Sky and BT decide to work together on a dual-broadcast.
In the U.S., the situation is also tricky.
Fury has an exclusive deal with ESPN, while Joshua’s last four fights have been shown on streaming service DAZN in the U.S.
ESPN offer a pay-per-view service for their big fight nights while DAZN work on a subscription-based model, making a deal for the fight to be shown on both channels difficult.
Arum recently said: “It will be a normal pay-per-view here (in the United States). ESPN will be the distributor.”
“Obviously, the big market is the UK, where everyone is talking it will do three million homes. Sky and BT both will have it on pay-per-view.”
DAZN will likely stream the fight for rest of the world territories.
Joshua vs Fury – what have they all said?
Joshua: “How close is the Fury fight? I promise you it’s happening.
“But until you hear it from me, don’t buy into anything. I’m serious about the fight so when I announce it you’ll know it’s real.”
Another positive meeting with @258mgt. They’ve informed me things are shaping up nicely. They will be sharing the update with Eddie and you’ll be hearing from me soon 👊🏾— Anthony Joshua (@anthonyjoshua) February 23, 2021

Fury: “I just got off the phone with [my trainer] Sugarhill Steward in America.
“We are going to smash AJ – one round, two rounds, three rounds. Done! Can’t wait.”
Frank Warren is confident the fight will take place in May or JuneCredit: PA:Press Association
Hearn: “Both guys are training at the moment, you know, with the understanding that this will be the next fight for them.
“So, whilst we can’t say the fight is signed, we can say that we’re closing in and it looks like both fighters are happy with the terms.”
Arum: “There’s no [Wilder] mediation. I mean, there has been over Christmas, and New Year, there was mediation
“I don’t know, maybe the mediator will be able to solve the situation, but we got a real problem because Tyson Fury has said to me and the mediator, ‘Not today, not tomorrow, and not ever’ will he ever fight Wilder after what Wilder said to him.”

Warren: “But the fight, we are hoping to get it on and, if we are being realistic, it will be some time in May or June.
“I hope that in the next few weeks it is over the line. We are supposed to be getting some sort of draft agreement this week and it will be a two-fight deal.” More

Saunders jokes friendship with Tyson Fury comes from ‘banging loads of prostitutes together’ ahead of Canelo fight

BILLY JOE SAUNDERS joked his friendship with Tyson Fury is special as they ‘bang loads of prostitutes together’ in a shocking pre-fight interview. The two proud Gypsies have been close friends since their early amateur days, supporting, fighting and training alongside each other.

Fury, 32, is currently out in Texas to watch Saunders, 31, face Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez, 30, on Saturday night.
In an interview with SecondsOut, BJS was asked what Fury brings to his pre-fight preparation, and he responded: “He’s brought a lot to camp.
“Like I say we always give each other advice, we always stand by each other and we’re here standing strong and almighty, united we stand.”
He was then quizzed about what makes their bond and friendship on a personal level so special.
Saunders joked: “We bang loads of prostitutes together.”
Interviewer Radio Rahim caught on to the light hearted joke, and replied: “Well good luck with the prostitutes Sunday, I’m sure they’ll be lined up if you get the victory.”
The WBO champion’s comment was characteristically tongue in cheek, with Fury happily married to childhood sweetheart Paris.
Saunders, father to two sons, Billy Jr and Steve, is not believed to be in a relationship.

He landed himself in hot water last year after a leaked video of the Brit appeared to instruct men on how hit their partners during lockdown.
Saunders was later hit with a £15,000 fine and apologised. He escaped a ban but the penalty fee went to a charity.
The unbeaten southpaw now travels to America as the betting underdog against boxing’s top attraction Canelo.
But he has the backing of Fury, who predicted a similar masterclass to that Floyd Mayweather showed in Alvarez’s only ever defeat, in 2013.
The Gypsy King said: “I think he’s gonna give him a boxing lesson and smash him, stop him around about round 11 or 12.
“Really confident, honestly. Never been this confident about anything in me life.
“Billy’s gonna hit him with the jab, meet him straight with the jab, right in the mouth.
“Every time — ping, ping, ping! You’re gonna see something really special.
“Don’t make Canelo out to be some killer! He’s just a little man with a pair of boxing gloves on. That’s all he is.”
