Tyson Fury vows to ‘take back what I never lost’ as he eyes Anthony Joshua’s belts in undisputed Saudi Arabia clash

TYSON FURY has vowed to ‘take back what I never lost’ as he eyes Anthony Joshua’s belts in their Saudi Arabia title fight. The two heavyweight champions are set to announce the undisputed title decider between them will take place on August 14 in the Middle East.
Tyson Fury vowed to ‘take back what I never lost’ as he eyes Anthony Joshua belts

Fury confirmed the unification was on after revealing a phone call he had with Prince Khalid Adbdulaziz Al Saud.
And he has played up to his Saudi fans after he posted a mocked up image of the 1962 classic Lawrence of Arabia.
With his face on a ‘Tyson of Arabia’ poster, Fury tweeted: “Time to take back what I never lost. Every belt there (sic) all mine chump!”
Fury, 32, is referring to the WBA, IBF and WBO belts Joshua, 31, proudly owns.
They are the same unified straps the Gypsy King won in 2015 after upsetting the odds against Wladimir Klitschko, now 45, in 2015.
But after a battle with depression and substance abuse, Fury was forced to vacate the crowns he won in historic fashion.
Over the course of two years, starting in 2016, AJ inherited the belts while the Gypsy King was on his inspirational comeback trail.
He capped it off in February 2020 as he dethroned Deontay Wilder, 35, of the WBC title, the only one he had not yet won.

Both men have experience in Saudi, AJ beat Andy Ruiz Jr, 31, in December 2019 in his rematch in Riyadh.
And Fury two months prior made his WWE debut at ‘Crown Jewel’ in the same location.
Prince Khalid, the country’s defence secretary and son of King Salman, is the backer bringing the unification to the Middle East.
And it was a conversation he had with Fury that convinced the unbeaten heavyweight his date with destiny was set in stone.
“Got some massive news for you all,” Fury said in a social media video.

According to ESPN, the site fee guarantees both men £53m EACH with an extra £3.5m to spend on expenses and the rest of the bill.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed to DAZN the supporting acts will include multiple world title fights.
And there is also the opportunity for rare clashes between the opposing promoters’ stables.
That means Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing could go against Frank Warren’s Queensbury Promotions and Bob Arum’s Top Rank.
Hearn has been a major driving force in securing a deal having worked with the Saudis before.
He took Joshua’s 2019 rematch win with Andy Ruiz Jr, 31, over to Diriyah, where a special 18,000-seater indoor arena was built.
Prince Khalid Adbdulaziz Al Saud, the country’s defence secretary and son of King Salman, is the backer bringing the unification to the Middle East.
And Fury confirmed the fight was on after revealing a phone call he had with the Prince.

Logan Paul, 26, brands Floyd Mayweather, 44, a ‘grandad’ ahead of PPV exhibition and says ‘I’m nervous for him’

LOGAN PAUL branded Floyd Mayweather a ‘grandad’ ahead of their exhibition fight and said: ‘I’m nervous for him’. The YouTuber faces Mayweather on June 6 in Miami and has wasted no time in kicking off the trash talking.

Paul, 26, is armed with a FOUR STONE weight and six inch height advantage and is also 18 years younger than his iconic opponent.
But Mayweather, 44, is considered the greatest of a generation and was famously never beaten, retiring in 2017 at 50-0.
Nevertheless, Paul was quick to poke fun at Mayweather’s status as a grandparent, after his daughter gave birth to a baby boy January.
And he warned should he somehow pull off the mother of all miracles, the American great’s reputation will forever be tarnished.
He told Sky Sports: “This fight means so much to my fans, to my family, to everyone watching who thought they couldn’t do something in life.
“That’s the energy I’m going in with. I have nothing to lose. Literally, I have nothing to lose.
“So when you have a guy coming into the ring with that energy? And a guy who has everything to lose?
“As a grandad? I’m nervous for him!”

Paul has only twice boxed before, both against online rival KSI, the first of which was a 2018 white collar bout which ended in a draw.
The American celebrity lost the second by a scrappy split-decision meaning he takes a losing record into the already mounting challenge.
Mayweather – who Logan’s brother Jake predicts will underestimate his sibling – reminded the social media sensation of his true profession.
He said: “He has a huge following. Big guy, strong guy.
“This is fun, it’s entertaining. It’s all about entertainment. On social media, he entertains the people.”

At a press event to promote the fight, Mayweather confirmed former unbeaten Tucker has been his trainer throughout their preparations.
He said: “I basically train when I want to train.
“And who I’m working with for this training camp is Nate Jones is going to be there as he’s always there. I really like to keep my same team.
“But I’m bringing the first fighter that was in my camp that was with me over 20-something years ago. Longer than 25 years ago, Gerald Tucker.
“He knows the sport, sport of boxing, he knows me because he’s one of the students that comes from the Midwest, from the Mayweather team, from the beginning.
“Helluva fighter. Actually, you know he’s the, at that particular time when he was fighting, he retired undefeated, he could’ve been huge as a fighter.
“But you know, sometimes we got certain family situations that we’ve got to handle.
“But still he’s a part of our camp and we’ve been working and we’ve been looking good working thus far.”

Tucker was in the 1996 Olympic team where Mayweather left with a bronze medal.
Also in that squad was heavyweight Nate Jones, who won gold, and now acts as an assistant coach to Mayweather.
Tucker made his pro debut in 2000 and had six fights in one year before leaving the sport.
He returned in 2015, after 15 years out, and had two more wins before retiring for a second time.
In the years since he has transitioned to coaching and most recently helped Adrien Broner, 31, in the American’s comeback.

And he will now become the first man ever to coach Mayweather, 44, bar his uncle Roger and dad Floyd Sr.
Mayweather was always cornered by his uncle, up until 2013 when he instated his dad as head coach, with Roger still pad man.
But Roger sadly passed away last March aged 58, while Floyd Sr, 69, has taken a step back.
Mayweather’s southpaw sparring partner Denis Douglin shared an inside look at the 50-0 icon’s training camp.

David Haye tips ‘underestimated’ Anthony Joshua to BEAT Tyson Fury by stoppage in Saudi heavyweight unification fight

DAVID HAYE reckons Anthony Joshua will KNOCK OUT Tyson Fury in their eagerly-anticipated undisputed heavyweight title fight. The pair are finally set to share the ring in Saudi Arabia on August 14, although an official announcement has yet to be made.

Joshua will bid to add Fury’s WBC, Ring Magazine and lineal heavyweight titles to his collectionCredit: Reuters
WBC king Fury goes into the contest as the bookies’ favourite, despite being on the sidelines longer than AJ.
But former WBA heavyweight king Haye reckons Joshua is being overlooked for a myriad of reasons, which he broke down during a recent interview with PA.
    Tactics
Haye believes Joshua has shown drastic improvements to his offense in his last two outings against Andy Ruiz Jr and Kubrat Pulev.
He told PA: “What Fury did against Deontay Wilder in his last fight sounded like suicide on paper, but it was genius.
“Tactically I believed he had got it totally wrong, but it was proven right.

“But if you look at some of his prior fights, I wouldn’t say his tactics were that good.
“Joshua got his tactics terribly wrong in his first fight against Andy Ruiz, trying to mix it against a guy with short arms whose only chance was to get inside.
” But his tactics are improving and I very much liked what he did against Kubrat Pulev in his last fight.”
    Style
Haye is of the belief that Joshua, 31, won’t be bullied the same way Wilder was by The Gypsy King.
Tyson Fury bullied Deontay Wilder in their rematch last FebruaryCredit: Getty
“I think some people very much underestimate the boxing ability of Anthony Joshua.
“They forget he’s an Olympic gold medallist – Tyson didn’t even go to an Olympics, because he lost to David Price (in 2006).
“AJ started later but I can see his progression.
“I laugh at how people can doubt someone as genetically gifted as AJ.
“They see what happened to Wilder and they think the same thing will happen to Joshua, but they are two completely different fighters and human beings.”

    Power
Despite being impressed by Fury’s stoppage of Wilder last February, Haye firmly believes Joshua is the bigger power puncher.
He said: “Joshua waded in in his first fight against Andy Ruiz Jr and learned a hard lesson.
“You’ve got to soften your man up and pick your punches – just because you have the ability to knock someone out doesn’t give you the divine right to do so.
“Tyson isn’t so much of a one-punch specialist. He puts his punches together and his style is that if you throw big looping shots at him he’ll make you look silly.
“But AJ throws hard, compact punches and he puts them together well. I don’t see this fight going smoothly for Fury at all.”
David Haye reckons Anthony Joshua is a bigger power puncher than Tyson FuryCredit: AFP

    Preview(opens in a new tab)
    How it goes down
The Hayemaker foresees Joshua’s power and athleticism being too much for Fury to handle and is seemingly leaning towards an early stoppage.
Haye said: “I like the dedication of Joshua and I think he has a good chance of winning it early.
“People think I’m crazy but that’s just the way I see it.
“I loved his fight against Wladimir Klitschko – he took his licks and got back up and showed the heart of a champion.
“I think it’s a great fight and I really see it being won by stoppage. I’m just so glad we’re so close to seeing it happen.”

An eighth-round retirement from Saunders following a fractured orbital saw Eubank Jr’s bet come in.
And true to his word, NextGen donated his winnings to the Rockinghorse Children’s charity in Brighton.
Eubank Jr shared a picture of himself handing over a cheque to staff at the charity to Twitter on Monday morning.

He tweeted: “Canelo if you want a Brit to give you a real fight… I’m ready & waiting.”

But not Jake, who has trained and sparred his older brother during his own novice boxing career.
The internet sensation, who is 3-0, was initially critical of the pay-per-view spectacle and blasted that it was ‘bad for the sport’.
But he has now changed his tune, believing boxing will benefit from Logan’s adoring fans who are sure to tune in.
And he even backed the unprecedented underdog to use his FOUR STONE and six inch height advantage against an unassuming Mayweather.
Jake 24, told SunSport: “I think it’s great, I think it brings more eyeballs to the sport of boxing. People forget that boxing is entertainment.
“All sports are designed for entertainment even dating back to the Roman Empire, they had Olympics sports for entertainment.
“This is entertaining and I think that Floyd will again severely underestimate my brother, and there’s a size advantage, my brother’s fast and has knockout power.

Logan, 26, has it all to do against Mayweather, 44, famously never beaten having retired 50-0.
The social media star has only boxed twice before, both against online rival KSI, 27.
They first drew in a white collar bout in 2018, before turning pro a year later, which Logan lost by split-decision.
Mayweather retired officially in 2017 after stopping ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 32, in ten rounds.
But he returned a year later, wiping out featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in two minutes in Japan.
Projecting a guaranteed £72million payday to face Logan, Mayweather admitted it was a no-brainer to face Logan.
And at the press conference, he even claimed he would fight Jake on the SAME NIGHT, and called for paperwork to be drawn up to make it happen.

Soon after, all hell broke loose as Jake stole Mayweather’s hat, sparking a mass brawl with Logan involved in the ugly scenes.
Speaking just days before, the American – living up to his nickname ‘The Problem Child’ – opened the door to fighting Mayweather after Logan.
But he demanded it be a professional contest with their unbeaten records on the line.
Jake told us: “I don’t want to do exhibitions and I think that’s the difference between Floyd and I and even my brother and I.
“I want legitimate pro fights that are sanctioned, I want to build my pro record.
“I don’t think Floyd would actually fight me outside of an exhibition as he doesn’t want to risk his record.
“Maybe if we can come to some kind of agreement around that, I’d fight Floyd. But I’m not doing like the circus, exhibition s***.”
