Jake Paul offered world title shot against cruiserweight king Mairis Briedis on condition he QUITS boxing if he loses

JAKE PAUL has been offered a crack at Mairis Briedis’ IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight titles. The YouTuber’s brash antics have ruffled plenty of feathers in the boxing world, with many fight fans wanting him out of the sport.

But Latvian Briedis is willing to offer the younger Paul brother a chance at getting his hands on a pair of world titles.
In a video on his social media channels, The Punisher said: “Hey Jake, look I’m dressed like you, but one thing you’re missing is a belt.
“And this belt, money cannot buy.”
Briedis’ promoters are keen to make the fight – but on the condition Paul quits boxing if he loses.
They tweeted: “Hey Jake Paul – happy to arrange you taking a shot at Mairis Briedis belts, only condition if you lose you have to leave boxing… deal?”
Briedis’ callout of Paul baffled Brit Lawrence Okolie, who is eyeing a unification fight with the 36-year-old.

The Sauce tweeted: “I CANNOT BELIVE (sic) WHAT I’M SEEING! This HAS to be a joke.”
Okolie, 28, revealed his eagerness to face Briedis after claiming the WBO strap in March.
He said: “A lot of the things I have used in this division, like my size and strength, will not work for me at heavyweight.
“There is a lot more learning to do and still some big fights at cruiserweight because I want to unify.
“Briedis is my next target because I believe he is the best in the division and I want another step up.”
Jake Paul has become one of the most-talked about stars in boxing

Although Brieids is keen to share the ring with Paul, the social media star has set his sights on bigger fish.
Paul, who stretched his record to 3-0 last month with a brutal first-round knockout of ex-MMA star Ben Askren, is currently eyeing a clash with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
He told Chael Sonnen: “There’s conversations happening.
“I believe Kamaru’s manager is already in talks with Dana [White, UFC boss], and I think that’s all I can say.
“One hundred per cent, I’m down for all the smoke. I want all the smoke. Daniel Cormier, another example.” More

Fan sets up Deontay Wilder GoFundMe page to raise £1m ‘step aside’ cash for Tyson Fury to fight Anthony Joshua

A BOXING fan desperate to see Tyson Fury fight Anthony Joshua has set up a GoFundMe page for Deontay Wilder. The biggest fight in the history of British boxing is on the brink of collapse after a judge ruled Fury owes Wilder a trilogy fight.

Former WBC king Wilder is willing to step aside – but only if he’s paid a whopping £14m ($20m).
And boxing fan Greg Double has started a whip-round in order to help Team Fury pay off The Bronze Bomber.
He wrote: “We all want to see Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury. Unfortunately, the sport of boxing can be AC-12 levels of bent.
“A US Court has now decided Fury has to fight Deontay Wilder for a third time, this means the Joshua-Fury fight could be postponed.
“However, there’s still hope of saving it. Deontay Wilder could be paid ‘step-aside’ money – essentially a big wedge of cash to get out of the way of this all-British super fight.
“If 100,000 boxing fans chip in a tenner – and let’s face it, we’re used to being ripped off – we can offer him a million quid to get out of the way.
“Not only will it offer an incentive, it will send a message. The fans don’t want to see any other fight.”

Should Wilder decline the money, Double intends to donate the funds to the Boxing Futures project.
He added: “Whatever money we raise will be offered up to Deontay Wilder. If he declines, I will donate all proceeds to https://boxing-futures.org.uk/ – a charity that uses boxing to help young people fulfil their potential.
“It sucks that this is the only way I can think of to try and do something, but the sport of boxing only knows one language – and that’s money. Let’s make a point.”

Fury’s trilogy fight with Wilder – who he knocked out last February – must take place before September 15.
And the WBC king’s co-promoter, Bob Arum, has already reserved the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for July 24.
The 89-year-old said: “We’re not paying Wilder to step aside.
“It’s better to get rid of him and go about our business. We can make the Fury-Joshua fight for November or December.”
Team Joshua are already in talks over a showdown with former undisputed cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk, although promoter Eddie Hearn is hoping the fight with Fury will still come to fruition.

He said: “I have been focusing on Plan A. The only fight we had our mind on was Tyson Fury.
“We hope that that fight can still take place on August 14.
“The game changed last night where we have to have a plan B in place, and probably a plan C as well.
“We have a couple of different options; of course, the one that springs to mind immediately is the WBO mandatory of Oleksandr Usyk.
“They have been quite patient and I think really, we are in a situation where if Team Fury don’t get themselves together, get their act together, by the end of this week, we will have no option but to look for an alternative fight.”

Watch Tyson Fury train and warn both Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder his next opponent is ‘getting smashed to bits’

TYSON FURY has seemingly accepted he may not fight Anthony Joshua this summer – but he’s warned his fellow Brit he’ll ‘smash him to bits.’The pair’s August showdown in Saudi is in major doubt after a judge ruled that former WBC champ Deontay Wilder is contractually entitled to a trilogy fight with The Gypsy King.

A third bout between the pair has been ordered to take place before September 15, throwing a huge spanner into the works of an undisputed title fight with Joshua.
And judging by his recent Twitter post, Fury appears to resigned to the fact he might not get his hands on AJ this summer.
Alongside a video of himself shadow-boxing, he tweeted: “This is how I’m feeling right now, I’m on the inside fighting smashing stuff up, & my next opponent is getting smashed to bits!”
Fury, 32, has repeatedly vowed to ‘smash’ unified champ Joshua for the last few months.
And his failure to mention the Olympian in his latest social media post didn’t go unnoticed.
One boxing fan tweeted: “Gone from Joshua getting smashed to bits to next opponent getting smashed to bits.”

    Another said: “Scared of AJ.”
And another said: “Guessing from your comment ‘my next opponent” means you’re not confident that the Joshua fight is going ahead?’
Wilder, 35, is reportedly willing allow to allow Fury to face Joshua – but only if he’s paid £17million ($20m).
That demand has stunned Fury, who wrote on Instagram: “What a joke @bronzebomber has become asked for 20 million to move over #joker.
“Looks like I have to crack his skull again!”

Team Fury have provisionally reserved the 65,000 capacity Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for July 24 should they be unable to convince Wilder to step aside.
But Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is hopeful the biggest fight in the history of British boxing will still go ahead as planned.
The Matchroom chief said: “I have been focusing on Plan A. The only fight we had our mind on was Tyson Fury.

Tyson Fury slams ‘joke’ Deontay Wilder for wanting £14m to step aside as Gypsy King threatens to ‘crack his skull again’

Only paying the former WBC champion compensation money could keep his super-fight with Anthony Joshua alive.
But in an Instagram post, Fury took aim at his heavyweight rival for his step aside demands and seemingly accepted the possibility of a trilogy bout.
He wrote: “What a joke @bronzebomber has become asked for 20 million to move over #joker looks like I have to crack his skull again!”
Fury, 32, dethroned Wilder, 35, of the WBC belt in February 2020 but their contract included an immediate rematch.
That never came to fruition amid the coronavirus pandemic and the Gypsy King’s team argued the stipulation expired in October.
As a result, they entered talks with Joshua, 31, all while Wilder took his case to civil court and returned to training with new Malik Scott.
And after months the decision went his way, meaning Fury is faced with fighting him for a third time, after their first ended in a draw.
To salvage the historic undisputed title decider, paying Wilder a compensation fee emerged as an option.

But he admitted it is out of his hands and is lining up a back-up option in Oleksandr Usyk, 34, who is currently AJ’s WBO mandatory challenger.
AJ and the Gypsy King were all-but ready to put every heavyweight belt on the line on August 14 in Saudi Arabia.

“So if we are all sensible, let’s move forward, let’s try and look at the options to get that locked in.
“Again, we are in a situation where we just don’t know how likely it is to get a full venue for August in the UK.

Logan Paul warned ‘someone will get hurt’ as Tony Bellew slams Floyd Mayweather fight as ‘another version of the circus’

The YouTuber has also been joined by his brother Jake in transitioning from social media sensation to prizefighter.
But ex-WBC champion Bellew fears novice fighters stepping foot in the ring could end in disaster as he took a swipe at Mayweather’s latest cash grab.
He told BBC Radio 4: “It’s all in the name and the love of money – nothing else.
“This will continue to go on until someone is badly hurt. It is as simple as that.
“Sorry to say that, but that’s what will see this off, someone getting really hurt.”
Logan, 26, has boxed only twice before, both against online rival KSI, the first of which was a white collar bout in 2018.
They drew before controversially turning pro a year later, as KSI, 27, won by scrappy split-decision.
It means Paul takes a losing record into the ring against the greatest of a generation, who famously retired undefeated at 50-0.

Younger brother Jake, 24, on the other hand is 3-0 but has beat limited competition in YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 36, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 36.
And while the Paul brothers have taken the necessary steps to take their training seriously, it has inspired others to follow.
So much so that on June 5, stars from YouTube and TikTok are facing off in a serious of bouts in what is billed ‘Battle of The Platforms’.
Bellew, 38, reiterated the dangers of unqualified beginners lacing up the gloves as he opened up on the threat of serious damage.
He said: “Two celebrities will fight, someone will get hurt. That’ll be the end of it.
“No one will do it again. Well, it will probably continue. We’ll probably have an unlicensed event somewhere.
“How these [fights] are being licensed, I don’t know.”

Mayweather, 44, was quick to brush his return to the ring as ‘entertainment’ opposed to genuine competition.
And having already projected a payday of no less than £72MILLION to face his easiest opponent of all time, Bellew scoffed at the money-making bout.
He explained: “This guy is going to match up against Floyd, the greatest fighter of his generation.
“This boy has had two fights against two absolute no marks. And it’s just insane. This is not boxing. This is the world of showbusiness.
“And this has gone on for hundreds of years, there’s been men that have fought bears, guys that have gone up against tigers with swords back in the Gladiator days in the colosseum, it’s just now they are sticking cameras on it.
