Logan Paul training ‘like a gladiator’ in camp for Floyd Mayweather and ‘looks nothing like the YouTuber who fought KSI’

LOGAN PAUL is training ‘like a gladiator’ in preparation for Floyd Mayweather and ‘looks nothing like the YouTuber who fought KSI’. American Paul has been confronted with what, on paper at least, appears to be mission impossible as he faces boxing icon Mayweather on Sunday.

The social media sensation, who has only TWICE boxed before, started his camp at the end of last year in the back yard of his Las Angeles mansion.
But the exhibition spectacle was moved from February 20 to June 6, giving Paul more time to hone his craft all while he relocated to Puerto Rico.
There he has been sparring light-heavyweight champion Jean Pascal, running in the Caribbean heat and listening to the wise words of head coach Milton Lacroix, who once trained Shannon Briggs to the title.
His tireless work rate has been described as gladiatorial by Solomon Engel, the founder and CEO of Fanmio, who are promoting the exhibition.
Engel told SunSport: “Logan has an incredible training regimen.
“The guy from what I saw probably eats, sleeps and trains every day and is very strict with whatever he’s doing.
“Logan looks like a gladiator, he’s an absolute monster, he’s put on a lot of size and weight, definitely looks nothing like the YouTuber who fought KSI.”
Paul, 26, first graced the ring in 2018, drawing in a white collar bout in Manchester against online rival KSI – real name Olajide William Olatunji.

In their rematch a year on, when they controversially turned pro with little experience, KSI prevailed by scrappy split-decision.
It left Paul with a losing 0-1 official record and question marks over his skills and future in the sport.
But ever since the defeat, he returned to training, alongside brother Jake, 24, who is 3-0 in his own career, and somehow landed an unthinkable fight with Mayweather.
Engel argues Paul’s development and physical attributes make for at least compelling viewing if not competitive in the ring.

He said: “He’s certainly in a much better place now from a boxing standpoint and if he was not fighting Floyd Mayweather, I would say, ‘Wow, this guy is going to destroy his next opponent’.
“You can’t say that when he’s fighting Floyd Mayweather, as Floyd Mayweather’s known to be the best fighter.
“But it’s certainly going to be an interesting matchup watching them both train and seeing how far Logan has come is really going to make it interesting.”

During an interview with Fight Hype, Wilder was asked if he wanted to fight Joshua after the Fury bout.
After initially laughing at the prospect, the 35-year-old said: “My focus is definitely on Fury… Once I do that [beat him], then you already know what I want.
“But, from what I’m hearing, they’re already making up their excuses.
“You know we’re going to hear about mandatory [fights] and all that other bull****.
“But I want them to keep the same energy – they tried to make the Fury fight.
“He said, ‘It ain’t about the man, it’s about the person with the belts,’ right? We’re going to hold their word to that.”

Fury is the bookies’ favourite to win the fight after outclassing the Bronze Bomber in their December 2018 draw and stopping him in February 2020.
But Wilder has promised to knock Fury out and told fans what to expect when the two meet in Las Vegas on July 24.
He said: “They should expect to see the mindset of a killer in the ring.
“Like I said, don’t come to my fight if your stomach can’t digest what your eyes are about to see. It’s about to get crazy.”

Fury was initially supposed to fight Joshua in an August unification bout but that was delayed after a judge ordered the current WBC champ to face Wilder again.
Joshua is now expected to fight WBO challenger Oleksandr Usyk, who is undefeated from his 18 fights.
A fight between Fury and AJ may still happen later in the year IF they win their respective fights – with November or December pencilled in.

Anthony Joshua will be at centre of mega-money broadcast war this summer when Sky Sports deal ends

ANTHONY JOSHUA will be the centre of a mega-money broadcast war this summer when his Sky Sports deal ends.Watford’s WBA, IBF and WBO king has one fight left with Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, who has guided his career from his 2012 London Olympics coronation.

Joshua has just one fight left with Eddie Hearn before becoming a promotional and broadcasting free agentCredit: Mark Robinson Matchroom Boxing
And the Essex fight mogul has just ended his almost decade-long Sky partnership to pen a five-year deal with sports streaming service DAZN.
After the upcoming defence against Oleksandr Usyk, which should be agreed in around a week, Joshua will be a promotional and broadcasting free agent.
And, while Hearn expects his deal with the champ to continue, he expects his new partners – who already show AJ’s fights outside the UK –  to wave their mighty chequebook too.
The 41-year-old said: “I am absolutely sure that AJ stays with me and there will be an announcement in due course about AJ’s relationship with Matchroom.
“I know that our relationship ends when AJ hangs up his gloves.
“In terms of his broadcast deal there is no pushing or guiding of Anthony Joshua to DAZN from us.
“That is a decision for us, him and his management company 258 and him to look at the market and the opportunities.
“He is the biggest star in British boxing and potentially world boxing.

“I cannot speak for DAZN but I am sure they would like to welcome him to the platform and they already show his fights globally.
“But AJ has a great relationship with Sky and I am sure they will be keen to extend that relationship beyond whatever fight happens in August or September.”
Hearn struck a billion-dollar deal for his Matchroom brand to make all of DAZN’s US and UK fights in 2018.
And the ‘Netflix of Sport’ swiftly gave boxing’s biggest superstar Canelo Alvarez a £278million 11-fight deal, that broke down amicably when the Mexican split with his Golden Boy promoters last year.
Canelo’s bitter rival Gennady Golovkin was snapped up too, in a deal worth close to around £100million, but the failure to secure the trilogy fight between the pair has been a major disappointment.
And Tyson Fury did a £80m five-fight deal with American broadcasters ESPN in 2019 that will carry his Deontay Wilder trilogy fight in July.
In August 2018, AJ signed a three-year extension to his long-running Sky Sports partnership and will know exactly what his worth is in the crowded market.

Hearn, who continues to provide darts and pool to Sky, said they wished him well and congratulated him on his huge move.
He claimed: “It was a very difficult decision because we work with Sky on a number of sports.
“I think when they understood the structure of the deal I felt even they had to shake my hand and say ‘good luck son’.
“It was too big an opportunity to expand globally, it was too big an opportunity to make these big fights. They were very disappointed but it is business.
“I expect them to stay in boxing and regroup.
“The key focus of their boxing business is pay-per-view and they have a fantastic platform so I am sure they will continue with that and provide boxing for their subscribers too.”

LOGAN PAUL aimed a subtle dig at his brother Jake over his bout with Tyron Woodley by claiming that he has decided to ‘fight the best’.The Maverick, 26, stated that his younger brother is ‘moving at his own pace’ rather than by box the elite as he is against Floyd Mayweather.

Jake, 24, will throw down with former UFC welterweight champion Woodley, 39, in a grudge match on August 28.

Logan was asked about his sibling’s bout and opened up on the differences between the type of opponents the two YouTubers-turned-boxers are facing.
He told Boxing News: “Jake continues to challenge himself, and he’s moving at his own pace.
“I decided to skip right to the best.”
Logan did also give his fight prediction on his younger brother’s fourth professional bout and tipped Jake to continue his impressive KO record.
He added: “Knockout for sure, it’ll probably take three.”
Logan’s thoughts are in stark contrast to Woodley, who was recently released by the UFC following his fourth consecutive loss.

He told ESPN: “Easiest fight of my career & biggest purse of my career all in one night.
“Basically, they brought me in to take out the trash. Can’t wait to shut this b***h up.

Describing Woodley as the ‘perfect opponent’, the First Round Management CEO stated that a rematch clause could see the pair go toe-to-toe twice.
First up will be a boxing contest on August 28 which will see Paul take a bigger slice of the pie while not leaving his opponent out of pocket.
Kawa told MMAFighting: “[Woodley]’s getting paid really well. It’s one of the best deals I’ve ever done.
“For a guy in his situation, it was a tremendous deal. He’s getting a large base number. He’s getting a cut of the pay-per-view globally.
“He’s participating in a lot of different things. He should walk away with a multi-million dollar payday.
“His base guarantee is in the millions already. Add on all the extra stuff, it’s a really nice payday.
“We just got to a point where we felt comfortable with it and Jake is probably making the lion’s share of the money, which he is, but nonetheless Tyron, this is a real good day for him.”
Woodley, 39, won the UFC welterweight belt in 2016 but lost his last four Octagon fights.

He noted: “[Woodley] definitely got paid in his base guarantee more than he ever did in the UFC, whether as a champion or non-champion, that’s a fact.
“Jake Paul’s team negotiated an automatic rematch clause.
“That’s how much this is a scary fight to them. If we win this fight, if Jake Paul wants it, then we have to run it back with him.”
Fans may be torn on Paul’s legitimacy as a professional boxer but many will be intrigued to see how he fares in this latest step up.

In the video, Wilder is seen dancing as he prepares for another scrap with Fury.
Whyte, who is one of the best fighters in the heavyweight division, replied to the video on Instagram with the caption: “Mmmmmm, interesting.”
The Brit has acquired an impressive record since losing to Anthony Joshua in December 2015, beating Lucas Browne, Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora twice.
He’s only lost to Povetkin during that period, but came back to stop the Russian in the fourth round of their rematch.
Whyte, perhaps sensing a bout with Wilder is on the horizon, may just be trying to wind him up.

The Brit has even offered to fight the American in his own house, telling Sky Sports in April: “I think the public demand for the Wilder fight is already there, to be honest.
“I’ll fight Wilder in Alabama, if that’s what is going to make him feel secure and safe enough to take the fight.

“If he wants, he can have the home judges, his hometown, whatever. I don’t care.
“I’d even fight him in his own home, the kitchen, the garage, the garden, wherever. I just want to get hold of him and hurt him.”

Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul purse: How much will each fighter make for Miami fight?

FLOYD MAYWEATHER and Logan Paul have already made their millions, but they’re about to get even richer this weekend. The pair are set to face off in a bizarre exhibition bout in front of thousands of fans at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Celebrities, athletes and stars alike will be in attendance at the home of the Miami Dolphins to witness Mayweather’s return to the ring and Paul’s second professional outing in one.
And both are set to be handsomely paid for the glitzy event.
How much is Floyd Mayweather getting paid to fight Logan Paul?
Mayweather is set to make a tonne of money for his clash with Paul this weekend.
The 50-0 megastar routinely made nine figures toward the back end of his career for his pay-per-view fight events.
He’s also been involved in the top two highest-grossing pay-per-view events in boxing history with his fights against Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor.
And the former five-weight world champion will earn a hefty pay-day once again on Sunday.

Mayweather has previously said he’s likely to earn around £72million for his bout with Paul.
“I can fight a fighter right now and I can guarantee myself $35million (£25m). I can eventually probably make $50million (£36m) for just a regular fight,” Mayweather said.
“Or me and Logan Paul can go out, entertain, have fun and make nine figures $100million (£72m) or more.”

How much is Logan Paul getting paid to fight Floyd Mayweather?
Paul is also getting paid a lot, not that he’s aching for a huge pay-day or anything, as he already makes millions from his YouTube channel.
The 26-year-old’s has racked up billions of hits on his channel and has over 23 million subscribers on the video-based platform.
Paul, however, will still be making just a fraction of what Mayweather, his richer counterpart, will be.

The viral sensation told TMZ that he’s likely to make around $20m (£14m) for his huge eight-rounder with Mayweather in Miami.
Paul hasn’t fought since November 2019, when he dropped a decision to fellow YouTube mogul KSI in the rematch from their amateur bout in 2018.
Though Mayweather is the more experienced, Paul boasts extensive physical advantages, including height, weight and reach. More
