Tommy Fury overcomes boos, Molly-Mae chants and hostile crowd to outpoint tough Jordan Grant in Telford

TOMMY FURY passed the first serious test of his boxing career with a win over one Scotsman and 600 Stokies. The Love Island hunk and little brother of WBC heavyweight king Tyson, who had been slammed for his previous five push-over opponents, went to Telford to take on 2-0 fellow prospect Jordan Grant.

But his biggest battle came on his walk to the ring when the giant crowd in town to watch Potteries hero Nathan Heaney turned on the handsome ace.
The sun and beer soaked crowd made up tunes about Tommy’s interest in fighting American YouTuber Jake Paul and his beautiful girlfriend Molly Mae Hague.
The kindest ones we can publish were ‘You’re scared of Jake Paul’ and the cutting ‘Your bird’s too fit for you’.
After surviving that grim stroll to the canvas Grant made a daring start, hurling a right hand that Fury evaded smoothly.
And the reality TV hunk cleverly walked him onto an uppercut later in the round when he bounced well off the ropes.
But the ruthless crowd cheered when Fury was hit for the first time in his career, getting his head jolted back by the underdog.
Fury’s jab and head movement at the start of the second were impressive and flame-haired Grant seemed to be burning out of the four-rounder.
The Scottish warrior kept marching forward, though, and he caught the celebrity sibling with a whipped left hook.

And Fury was fuming right on the third bell when Grant grazed him with an uppercut that came clearly after the ding.
At the start of the third, Fury tried to land that lead uppercut again but got a straight-right hand in the dish for his trouble.
But the mahogany-tanned ace scored with a string of shots later on when Grant recklessly barrelled at him and was punished.
In the fourth and final round, Fury kept the fight at distance and safely secured his sixth victory with the referee scoring it 40-36.
But a hard-to-please section of the 1,000 ringside fans chose to boo and get the chorus going again.

Mayweather, 44, retired from professional boxing in 2017, after his victory over Conor McGregor took him to 50-0.
He donned the gloves again for an exhibition in 2018 against kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan, and makes his latest lucrative comeback against The Maverick in Miami.
Speaking to TMZ ahead of Sunday’s fight he said: “For the build-up so far, I’ve made something upwards of 30million (US Dollars).”
And asked if he would make more come fight night, he replied with a smile: “Of course, of course.
“(I’ll make) Between 50 and 100 (million US Dollars). Not bad for the Mayweather zone.”
BETTING SPECIAL – GET MAYWEATHER AT 20/1 OR PAUL AT 120/1

    NO-WIN SITUATION
In what could be mind games, Floyd then revealed that he believes he’s in a ‘no-win zone’.
He added: “To me, it’s a win-win but I’m in a no-win because if I knock him out fast in the first round, they’re gonna be like ‘Aw man this wasn’t worth it.’
“If I let it go a few rounds and drag it out, they’re gonna be like ‘Aw man, he let a YouTuber hang in it for a few rounds’.
“But, it is what it is. We’re gonna have some fun Sunday.”

As for after the fight, Mayweather admitted that his next opponent is ‘probably Jake’.
There’s no love lost between the pair, after Floyd threatened ‘to kill’ the younger Paul brother after having his hat stolen by The Problem Child.
He continued: “After Logan, probably Jake. We don’t know. We will see.”

Jake Paul slams Dana White ahead of Tyron Woodley fight saying UFC stars ‘risk lives for s***ty contracts’ under him

JAKE PAUL has slammed Dana White for ‘taking UFC stars’ money’.And the YouTuber believes that UFC president White is ‘locking them up with s***** contracts’.

Paul, 24, is preparing to face former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley on August 28 in a boxing ring.
The Problem Child repeatedly wound White up in the build-up to his victory over ex Bellator and ONE Championship belt holder Ben Askren in April.
And as he begins the build-up to his fourth professional bout, Paul has ripped into White once again.
He said: “There’s a movement moving forwards that is going to show that fighters should be getting paid more. It’s unfair.
“The UFC fighter’s don’t have fair pay. Out of all the sports, the percentage that the owners get versus the athlete, they’re the lowest.
“Francis Ngannou vs. Jon Jones, that fight should happen. Dana White, pay them the $10 million. He’s taking their money. They’re the ones making the content. They’re the ones who get in the ring risking their life.
“Chris Weidman goes in, snaps his leg in half, what’s that look like? He may never be able to fight again and provide for his family. These fighters are risking their lives.
“You can quite literally die in the ring and they need to be compensated more. I’m a big proponent of that movement and being in control.

“It’s just like music labels, same thing, these artists are getting owned and get locked up into these s***** contracts and they don’t know what to do. So f*** that s***. F*** Dana White.”
British former UFC fighter Jimi Manuwa posted a clip of Paul’s rant, writing: “No lies told !!! Thoughts ?”
Paul emphatically defeated grappler Askren by first-round KO back in April.
But as a striker Woodley, 39, is set to be a far tougher test.
With The Chosen One on a four-fight slide, however, Paul may feel that T-Wood has lost his mojo for good.

The inside story of Floyd Mayweather’s fight with Logan Paul as boxing icon initially ‘didn’t know much about’ YouTuber

FLOYD MAYWEATHER marks his return to the ring in the most extraordinary fashion by facing YouTube sensation Logan Paul. The 50-0 boxing legend, who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame one week after fighting Paul, will lace up the gloves once more on Sunday night.

In a career which boats wins over Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez and several others, he will somehow wind up sharing the ring with a man who spent £1.4MILLION on Pokemon cards.
This time it is not about defending belts, legacy or his unbeaten record, it is purely a means to entertain and ultimately cash in.
Mayweather, 44, and Paul, 26, have both played their part in building the pay-per-view spectacle, which most buyers will shell out for already knowing the result.
But the intrigue is undeniable for some, and the whole reason Fanmio put the wheels in motion for the unthinkable fight in the first place.
BETTING SPECIAL – GET MAYWEATHER AT 20/1 OR PAUL AT 120/1
The website, which offers fans the chance to receive personal messages from their heroes, had a pre-existing relationship with Mayweather.
That led to talks about bringing the American great back between the ropes for another exhibition.
Around the same time, Fanmio had started a relationship with Paul, who has boxed only TWICE before.
And before long, Fanmio founder and CEO Solomon Engel put plans in place to present Mayweather with his most daring PPV of all time.

Engel told SunSport: “Floyd and I were talking about doing something, some sort of exhibition and just having conversations.
“Once I got conversations with Logan, one thing led to another. It was a lot of work for me and my team.
“It was a long lasting relationship with Floyd, a lot of work to convince Floyd and show him this was a great opportunity.
“We worked on that for a while and finally after a lot of time and back and forth we were able to make it happen.”
Mayweather hung the gloves up as a professional after beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 32, in ten rounds in 2017.
But he made a brief cameo in Japan a year later, wiping out featherweight kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa in a similar spectacle to Sunday’s headliner.
Paul meanwhile, is winless having drawn against rival KSI in a white collar bout in 2018 before losing their rematch a year later as they turned pro.

Still, with over 25.5m social media followers and 23m YouTube subscribers, the internet phenomenon remains a hot commodity in the boxing business.
And when two worlds collide in the form of boxing’s most lucrative fighter ever against an online superstar, it leaves promoters predicting only massive success.
Engel said: “We knew that this was a huge opportunity.
“We knew it was the No1 pay-per-view fighter in history going up against one of the biggest YouTubers with a massive audience.
“From the beginning we thought that it would make for a really interesting event from a numbers standpoint.
“Secondly we thought it was interesting as we know Floyd is one of the greatest boxers to ever live but he’s going up against somebody who is much heavier, much younger, much taller than him.

“A lot of advantages Logan has. Of course, Floyd has his advantages but I think the mystery of that size difference we thought was really interesting as well.
“We didn’t know what the outcome would be, but from the start we always thought it would be a really entertaining event if we could put it together and we were able to do that.”
With Mayweather prioritising a paycheque rather than reputation, he recently admitted fighting 0-1 Logan was a ‘legalised bank robbery’.
And a huge part to play in the box office numbers will be Paul’s adoring fan base and followers – something Mayweather was initially not familiar with.
Engel revealed: “It wasn’t hard to convince him, it was more he didn’t know much about Logan so it was more having him understand how big Logan’s audience is.
“Once he understood that, and made the money right for him, it started to come together real quick.”

RICKY HATTON has slammed Floyd Mayweather for ‘damaging his legacy’ and ‘disrespecting boxing’ by fighting YouTube star Logan Paul. The 44-year-old, who retired with a perfect professional record of 50-0, returns to the ring on Sunday night in an eight-round exhibition against 0-1 Paul.

And Hatton, who was stopped by Mayweather in their huge welterweight clash back in 2007, did not hold back in his criticism of the American.
Speaking to Metro, he said: “I think Floyd Mayweather is damaging his legacy, his peers will be looking at him. Truth be known, though, Floyd doesn’t give a s**t. He doesn’t care. He’s called himself ‘Money’ Mayweather for God sake, that tells you all you need to know!
“It is all about money with him. Me personally, I thought it was about the fans, the fans pay your wages. The fans deserved to be entertained. Floyd isn’t bothered as long as he gets money. It shows total disrespect to his peers and the other great champions of old.
“Of course, you go into professional boxing for money reasons, to provide a better living for your family and a better lifestyle for them and yourself. So of course, money plays a big part.
“But some things have to come before money. Like legacy. How much money does he want? He has already secured his family’s future. The last few fights you want are the ones to secure your legacy.
“I haven’t seen Logan Paul box, I don’t know if he’s any good or how bad he is. I didn’t know who he was until a few months ago until he started getting linked with all these fighters.
“What upsets me, as a boxer who loved and still loves this sport, I feel very proud of how hard I worked to get the opportunity to fight Floyd Mayweather.
“I beat Kostya Tszyu, who was the best in the light welterweight division. I beat Carlos Maussa, I beat Luis Collazo, I beat Juan Urango, I beat Jose Luis Castillo, that’s how I got my shot at Floyd Mayweather.

🥊 MAYWEATHER VS LOGAN PAUL: Where will the fight take place, what TV channel and live stream will it be on?

“He [Paul] has got a shot at him because he’s got 72 f*****g million followers. And it p****s me off.
“Each to their own of course but I think if you asked this question to every former world champion, your Sugar Ray Leonards, your Marvin Haglers, your Tommy Hearns, your Julio Cesar Chavez, your Lennox Lewis, all of these, I think they would say the same.”
Mayweather is expected to make £72million from the Paul clash, with the 26-year-old YouTube star set to earn around £14m.
Paul’s only pro bout came in a split decision defeat to fellow internet sensation KSI in November 2019.
And Hatton feels Mayweather’s ability to earn money from the event is a tough pill to swallow.
He went on to add: “Fight fans save up hard-earned money to come and watch you, week in week out, flying over to Las Vegas and watch us. They’ve probably done overtime, extra jobs in order to come and watch you fight.
“Some of my fans are probably still paying off that Vegas trip. And I appreciate it still. But you don’t want to be saving up, travelling over there all for someone to rub it in your face.
“It seems like he [Mayweather] is rubbing it in everyone’s face. In the face of people who work 12 hours a day, seven days a week who can’t even afford a holiday.
“I think when you come from a sport like boxing where the fans are working class, they don’t want to be reminded of how much money you’ve got.”

“He fight on an app now, right? Real fighters fight on Showtime.”

When asked about a potential rematch, he said: “You mean Canelo? Easy work.”
Canelo hasn’t tasted defeat since losing the Sin City showdown and is confident he’d get the better of Mayweather second time around.
He said: “I’m a more complete fighter now. It would be much more competitive.
“I have a lot more experience. I have improved a lot, so it would be different.
“It was experience that defeated me that night and that’s why it was a boring fight, as well, because he didn’t do too much to me, either.

“It was experience and I’m a much more mature fighter.
