Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight collapse was down to ‘greedy’ Eddie Hearn’s ‘diarrhoea of mouth’ – slams Bob Arum

EDDIE HEARN’s ‘diarrhoea of mouth’ caused the heavyweight unification bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to fall through, according to Bob Arum.Joshua’s promoter, 42, was locked in talks with Arum and Frank Warren for weeks before finally agreeing to an August bout.

But just 24 hours later the fight was off, after an arbitrator ruled that Fury, 32, must face Deontay Wilder again.
Veteran Arum, 89, believes that if Hearn hadn’t taken so long, the arbitrator would have merely awarded Wilder ‘damages’ rather than a third fight.
He blasted: “Eddie has diarrhoea of the mouth.
“He can’t stop talking and he doesn’t think.
“Eddie should shut up and stop blaming other people.
“He’d be well advised to shut his mouth and look in the mirror.”
Arum then furiously added: “Eddie screwed everything up.
“The Saudis were happy to pay a tremendous site fee. Eddie got greedy, ‘Pay a bigger amount, take the TV.’

“It dragged on for weeks. I believe if it’d just been a site fee we’d have announced and the arbitrator would’ve given Wilder damages.”
Fury will now face the American for a third time on July 24 in Las Vegas, as the Gypsy King aims to finally put the trilogy to bed.
Joshua, meanwhile, is set to face Oleksandr Usyk in September on home soil, with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the likeliest venue.

Conor Benn looks set to star at Fight Camp 2 this summer
The much-anticipated event could see some high-profile figures enter the ring once again this summer.
In 2020 Fight Camp ran for four weeks with Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin the pick of the bouts.
This time around it appears Conor Benn vs Adrian Granados will be the main event for the first week of fighting.
Benn was hugely impressive in his last fight in April, devasting opponent Samuel Vargas to claim a knockout victory within 80 seconds.
Campbell Hatton is another name on the billing for week one, while Jack Cullen may face Avni Yildirim according to Hearn’s plans.
Week 2 could be headlined by Kid Galahad vs Jazza Dickens II in an all British clash.
Joshua Buatsi could face Ricards Bolotniks in the pick of the week three fights, as the Olympic bronze medalist looks to extend his undefeated record.

Unfortunately, many of the other names on the list are difficult to make out from the snap.
But there is space at the bottom of Hearn’s notes, which indicates there could be room for a fourth week, therefore following the same format as last summer’s event.
There has been a mixed reaction to the leak from boxing fans, with the billing not generating much excitement.

Floyd Mayweather told to retire and stop ‘silly’ exhibitions by Dana White with UFC boss undecided on Logan Paul signing

DANA WHITE urged Floyd Mayweather to retire and stop the ‘silly’ exhibitions – while he remains undecided on giving Logan Paul a shot in the UFC. Boxing legend Mayweather, to the shock of many, was taken the full eight round distance by YouTube star Paul in their Miami showcase bout.

But it was blasted by UFC president White, who called on his friend to hang up the gloves for good.
He told TMZ Sports: “Floyd should retire and he’s had an incredible career and to do these type of fights, it’s silly.”
Mayweather, 44, officially hung up the gloves in 2017 after stopping ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 32, in a fight White helped promote.
He did come back a year later, beating featherweight kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa in a similar spectacle.
The American great then announced he was ‘coming out of retirement’ and would work alongside White.
But amid the coronavirus pandemic, the pair never linked up, and are not likely to do so after Mayweather poured cold water on another return.
After fighting Paul, he said: “As far as me fighting again, absolutely not. As far as me doing another exhibition, probably not.”
Paul, 26, on the other hand opened the door to an MMA switch and believes his time as a high school wrestler leaves him more suited to the cage.

White has previously distanced himself from working with the social media sensation or his little brother Jake, 24.
But for the first time, he appeared to at least contemplate giving Paul a crack in the UFC.
White said: “There’s no doubt when you look at both those two kids, they take it seriously. They both really do train hard.
“They’re not just showing up for a pay cheque. I don’t know, man. I don’t know.
“Here’s the thing, not to say that I haven’t taken a guy in that’s been 0-0 into the UFC and done those types of fights before. I don’t know.”

Billy Joe Saunders considering retirement after Canelo Alvarez loss and horror eye injury with Brit ’50-50 on decision’

BILLY JOE SAUNDERS admitted he is considering retirement after defeat to Canelo Alvarez and his horror eye injury. The Brit was beaten in eight rounds by Mexican superstar Canelo, with an uppercut causing the fight to be waved off before the ninth.

Saunders, 31, was rushed to hospital for surgery to treat the four fractures in his eye socket and cheekbones.
The slick southpaw remained radio silent while recovering from his first ever loss and career-threatening injuries.
Saunders has now spoken out for the first time, and revealed he is ’50-50′ on whether to hang up the gloves or not.
He told talkSPORT: “At the end of the day, I’m 31 years old, if I don’t ever wanna work again, wanna sit back, wanna chill, I can do that.
“And so it should be, I’ve put a lot of time into boxing and I’ve paid my dues. The sport’s been very, very good to me…
“I’m 31, I haven’t took no punishment, I haven’t been battered from pillar to post, brain dead and can’t put a sentence together, so I need to sit back and look at my options.
“Because the options have to weigh up – the thought of me just coming in and fighting for a world rating or something, belts don’t feed the kids.
“Everything would have to stack up and [be] the right fight.

“Because coming down from fights like that, it’s very hard, where do you go from there. I’ll have a chat with my dad because he’ll have a big say in it.
“To be fair it will be more or less down to my dad in the conversation more than me if I’m honest.
“It’s one of them where it’s 50/50. Whether I think, I will have one more or a couple more, but they’ve gotta be the right sort of fights.
“If he says, ‘Leave it son, don’t go back for more,’ then that’s probably what I’ll do.”
After the stoppage, debate ensued on whether Saunders was the one who made the decision to stop the fight.
His head coach Mark Tibbs, and trainer Ben Davison who was also in the corner, have maintained the decision was out of the ex-champion’s hands.

And Saunders maintains he shook his head in the corner to plead for the fight to carry on, rather than for it to be stopped.
He explained: “As a fighter, I wanted to go on. I sat down and I could hear Ben telling me in the corner it was over before I even sat down.
“I was shaking my head to say, ‘No way.’ It was the right stoppage, I can’t argue, I know my best interests was at hand.
“Obviously it’s gutting and no-one wants to lose, it is gut-wrenching, but this is sport and it’s boxing.
“You can only ever say that the better man won on the night. That’s it.
“I would’ve loved to see how the next four or five rounds were because I put so much heart and effort into it. That’s sport.”

Logan Paul offered MMA debut by Bellator after raking in cash for Floyd Mayweather boxing exhibition fight

Afterwards, Paul opened the door to a switch to the cage, believing his time as a high school wrestler makes him more suited to MMA.
And Coker, promoter of UFC rivals Bellator, gave the green light for the social media sensation to make the switch.
He told MMA Fighting: “The answer is absolutely.
“I think this kid has shown athletic ability to go in there with Floyd but also we know he’s a high school all-star wrestler from Ohio and I think they’re just getting better and better at combat sports.
“If he wanted to get into MMA, we would do it.”
Paul is said to have been ranked fifth in the OHSAA State Championships in 2013, during his final year of high school.
And the same year he joined the wrestling team at Ohio University, and qualified for OHSAA Division I Individual Championships.
Paul went on to drop out of education to pursue a career in entertainment and now stands as one of the most recognisable faces on the internet.

Mayweather, 44, was amazingly only his second ever opponent, previously facing rival KSI, who he drew with in 2018 but lost to a year later.
Paul is an MMA fan and last year spent time at the UFC’s Performance Institute, sparring ex-title challenger Paulo Costa.
Having shared the ring with the best of an era in Mayweather, technically avoiding defeat, he is confident his prior wrestling career makes MMA a no-brainer.
He said: “I’d do MMA, for sure, because I am a good grappler. You know, I’m a wrestler at heart.”

Paul’s exhibition spectacle was aired on Showtime in the US, who have just signed his brother Jake, 24, and televise Bellator events.
It puts the wheels in motion for a link-up with the American promotion, but Coker warned the YouTube star may continue to pursue boxing right now.
He said: “For now they want to focus on boxing but if the opportunity was there, I definitely would put them in the cage
“When I say that, they’re not going to go out and fight in a real fight against a guy like Gegard Mousasi or somebody that has that experience.
“We’d treat them like any other fighter with the experience that they have and take it from there.”

Anthony Joshua fight with Oleksandr Usyk set to be finalised this week as promoter reveals ‘most issues now agreed’

ANTHONY JOSHUA and Oleksandr Usyk could finalise terms to fight by the end of the week with ‘most issues now agreed’. Joshua was ordered to face mandatory challenger Usyk by the WBO after his undisputed title decider with Tyson Fury collapsed.

His promoter Eddie Hearn revealed talks were progressing well for the pair to fight in September, with Tottenham’s stadium the likely venue.
Usyk had publicly demanded more money from Hearn, but his promoter Alexander Krassyuk insisted a deal is now imminent.
Krassyuk told Sky Sports: “We hope that we will sign the contract by the end of the week. Most of the issues have been coordinated and agreed.
“Usyk’s confidence is at sky level.”
Joshua, 31, was initially lined up for a unification with WBC champion Fury, 32, on August 14 in Saudi Arabia.
It came after the Gypsy King walked away from a trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder, believing the immediate rematch clause expired.
Wilder, 35, then took his case to arbitration and after months of mediation the judge ruled in his favour.
To avoid another legal battle or paying step aside money, Fury agreed to a trilogy, with the pair signed to fight on July 24 in America.

It left Joshua out in the cold and forced to line up southpaw Usyk, 34, who became his mandatory after stepping up to heavyweight.
But Hearn reassured that AJ is not dwelling on the past, as his focus switched to his new southpaw opponent.
He told DAZN: “I can tell you that this week, that this is a more confident footing than the Joshua – Fury negotiations, because I know Alex Krassyuk very well, and I know Usyk very well.
“This week that fight will be signed. We’re looking at September in London. Just finalising the details.
“It’s a great fight, a dangerous fight, it’s not the one we necessarily wanted or expected. But it’s a high level heavyweight fight.
“It’s a unified heavyweight champion against the undisputed cruiserweight champion, and on we go with that fight – it’s a big event.”

The event, cross-promoted by Top Rank and Premier Boxing Champions, will see a host of heavy-hitters featuring on the undercard.
According to The Athletic, that includes the battle of unbeatens between Cuba’s Frank Sanchez meeting Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba.
Sanchez, a training partner of Canelo Alvarez who is promoted by Top Rank, will put his 18-0 record against PBC’s Ajagba, who stands 15-0.
Robert Helenius will also rematch Adam Kownacki on the bill, BoxingScene report.
Polish prospect Kownacki, 32, was defeated for the first time and stunned by veteran Helenius, 37, in March 2020.

With no knockout scored, there was no official winner, but the event is projected to have sold at least one million pay-per-view buys.
It left UFC president White arguing the real losers were the paying customers.
He told UFC Arabia: That wasn’t a f***ing boxing match. Like I said before, there’s always going to be a market for that kind of stuff.
“There’s always going to be people that are willing to put down $50 to watch that kind of stuff. That’s so far away [from what we do].
“Think about this — imagine if Kim Kardashian wanted to fight Amanda Nunes. How big do you think that fight would be? It would be huge.
“It would be the biggest [event] but give me a f***ing break.”
Mayweather, 44, and Paul, 26, were sure to use their personalties and platforms to generate massive hype around the spectacle fight.
But after the uneventful bout, White reckons fans would have been feeling underwhelmed.

He said: “It’s exactly what boxing has always been.
“You create this energy around a fight where you’re like, ‘Oh this [is exciting]’ and then you watch it and then you turn the TV off and go ‘I just wasted another evening, I should have went out and did something else.’
“I don’t ever want people feeling like that when they turn the TV off watching some of our fights.
“You’re going to have the fans, you’ll have a card one night and they’ll be like ‘this card, blah, blah, blah.’
“Then you watch the card and the card is unbelievable. You get at least two, three or four great fights that probably didn’t expect.
“Then when you turn the TV off, you’re glad you watched it. That’s the product that I sell. That’s what I’m into.”

Mayweather had no problems boasting about his lucrative payday both before and after the fight, which he dubbed a ‘legalised bank robbery’.
And White aims no blame at the PPV king or social media sensation Paul, instead questioning those who tuned in.
He explained: “I’m not trying to s*** on these other guys.
“Listen, if you’ve got people that are stupid enough to spend that kind of money, you deserve to take those dummies’ money. They deserve it.
