UFC legend Joe Rogan hails Floyd Mayweather’s ‘amazing’ $100m exhibition with Logan Paul, despite Dana White’s outrage

JOE ROGAN hailed Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul’s ‘amazing’ $100million exhibition – despite UFC president Dana White’s outrage. Boxing legend Mayweather and YouTube sensation Paul went the full eight round distance in Miami, to the surprise of many.

White and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn were among those critical of the pay-per-view exhibition, which still sold a reported 1million pay-per-views.
But UFC commentator Rogan was full of praise for the spectacle bout, which Mayweather had boasted could earn him up to $100m (£70m).
He said on his renowned podcast: “For people who got mad at it, I get it — it’s not Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao from five years ago.
“But what it is is one of the best boxers of all time making $100million fighting a guy that’s three feet taller than him and 35 pounds heavier than him who can’t win.
“It’s amazing, it’s amazing. That fight was amazing. There’s a lot of amazing things. First of all, Floyd is amazing.
“The fact that Floyd has the balls at 44 years old to decide, ‘Oh I’m gonna fight some dude that’s 35 pounds heavier than me and 26 years old’.
    “It’s crazy.”
Mayweather, 44, officially hung up the gloves in 2017, after beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 32, in ten rounds.

He did make a brief return a year later in a one round demolition against featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Tokyo.
Paul, 26, meanwhile had boxed only twice before, both against online rival KSI, drawing the first in 2018 before losing the rematch a year on.
But he did have a farcical TWO STONE weight advantage over Mayweather, which he used to survive and claim moral victory by going the distance.
White, who urged Mayweather to retire, attacked the exhibition showcase and argued the real losers were the paying customers.
He told UFC Arabia: “That wasn’t a f***ing boxing match. Like I said before, there’s always going to be a market for that kind of stuff.
“There’s always going to be people that are willing to put down $50 to watch that kind of stuff. That’s so far away [from what we do].
“Think about this — imagine if Kim Kardashian wanted to fight Amanda Nunes. How big do you think that fight would be? It would be huge.
“It would be the biggest [event] but give me a f***ing break.”

Tyson Fury offers to help Deontay Wilder overcome mental issues after rival ‘lost the plot completely’ ahead of trilogy

TYSON FURY has offered to help Deontay Wilder overcome mental issues after his heavyweight rival ‘lost the plot completely’. Fury dethroned the Wilder of the WBC crown in their February 2020 rematch, almost two years after they initially drew.
Tyson Fury has offered to help Deontay Wilder overcome mental issuesCredit: Getty
Afterwards, the American refused to accept his first ever loss and gave a host of baseless excuses and accusations for why he was beaten.
That included Fury’s gloves being loaded with WEIGHTS and Wilder astonishingly claiming his water was SPIKED.
The Gypsy King has long battled mental demons and is a huge advocate for mental health wellbeing.
And he is confident in noticing a mental collapse in Wilder and even wants to help after their July 24 trilogy bout.
Fury, 32, told the Daily Mail: “Clearly he’s suffered his first mental breakdown since I gave him his first defeat. Not surprising really.
“I injured him heavily. As well as the torn biceps he kept going on about he ended up with a ruptured shoulder, while I also gave him a cracked skull and two burst ear-drums.
“I smashed him to pieces. He felt like he’d been run over by an 18-wheeler. Make that a six-foot-niner.
“Then he lost the plot completely with all those mad allegations. I haven’t spoken to him since that night but he’s had a lot of mental issues.
“I would be the best person to help him. I will if he wants. Maybe not before July 24.”

Fury’s one-sided seventh round stoppage, which came after two knockdowns, was meant to be followed by a contracted trilogy bout.
But amid the coronavirus pandemic, the immediate rematch was delayed and then cancelled.
As a result, Fury’s side argued the stipulation expired as they instead entered talks with Anthony Joshua, 31, for an undisputed title decider.
The Brit pair then agreed terms to an August 14 unification in Saudi Arabia, all while Wilder, 35, was fighting his case for revenge in arbitration.
And after months of legal proceedings, the ex-WBC champion was awarded the right to another fight with Fury, with contracts penned soon after.
“I hope he brings a lot more to the ring than last time,” Fury said.
“That was a one-sided beat-down but I love real challenges. I didn’t think he would take the trilogy fight but he’s proved me wrong.
“Either he’s a glutton for punishment or he’s just coming for the money. Because he knows he can’t win. At least it will be over quicker for him.
“He won’t last seven rounds this time.”

Despite Fury’s fear, Wilder’s new trainer Malik Scott denied that American suffered a bout with depression.
Scott, 40, told the PBC podcast: “He never was depressed. Never.
“He was focused on the play that we’re focusing on now – when he rolls out of bed, he’s training.
“When he rolls out of bed, he goes to his recovery tank. When he rolls out of bed his nutritionist is out there. He was never depressed, it was all bulls***.
“If Deontay Wilder has been depressed then I pray to God that I reach that level of depression because when I tell you, I’m extremely proud of him, not as a fighter that I’ve trained but as someone as I consider as my brother.
“Not the things going on in the ring that I’m proud of him about, but just all the smart investments that he has done.
“All the acres that he is living on. All the people that he helps and everything that he does besides what’s going on in the ring.”

Floyd Mayweather offers Jake Paul ‘a real fight’ but warns YouTuber will have to come down TWO STONE in weight to 154lb

FLOYD MAYWEATHER offered Jake Paul ‘a real fight’ but warned the YouTuber would need to come down TWO STONE in weight to 154lb. Mayweather made his return to the ring last weekend against Jake’s older brother Logan in an exhibition bout in Miami.

But before the spectacle bout, Jake put himself in line to face the boxing legend after stealing his hat at a press conference.
The social media star told SunSport he would fight Mayweather, but only in a professionally sanctioned contest, rather than an exhibition.
His demand appeared to be met, but he was told it would mean shedding over two stone to make it happen.
Before Mayweather fought Logan, he told entrepreneur Rob Moore: “Jake Paul talked about me and him fighting in a real fight.
“If it’s a real fight, then I’ll go down to my real fighting weight class, which is 147 pounds or 154 pounds.
“If Jake Paul can come down to 154 pounds, then we can see his skills.”
Jake is 3-0 in his career, all by knockout, but has so far fought at 190lb, and faces ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, next on August 28.

In contrast, Mayweather weighed in a career heaviest 155lb before he shared the ring with Logan, who scaled 189lb.
The size difference proved decisive, as Logan was able to survive the full eight round distance.
And despite Mayweather’s pre-fight offer to Jake, 24, he later poured cold water on fighting again.
He said at the post-fight press conference: “As far as me fighting again, absolutely not. As far as me doing another exhibition, probably not.”

He wrote on social media: “One’s home is there a sanctuary, place of peace, relaxation and comfort. When someone violates that sanctuary, it is disturbing and hurtful.
“One of my homes was burglarized in Las Vegas. They stole many valuable handbags and other belongings of substantial value.
“I am offering at least $100,000 reward for information that leads to the return of my belongings.
“The level of disrespect and greed it takes for someone to do this is unfathomable.
“Thank you to anyone who comes forward with any information. God bless.”
Mayweather’s Vegas mansion is believed to be worth around £8million, and has several prized assets inside.
The boxing legend has been known to show off his fleet of luxury cars, watches and bags before.
Mayweather, 44, was recently captured going for a back ride less than a week on from going the full eight round distance with Paul, 26, in Miami.

And former light-heavyweight champion Liddell counted Carter, 33, out in the second as he shook his head in defeat.
Odom, 41, outweighed the singer by a massive 64 pounds and while standing 6ft 10in, he was the taller man by TEN INCHES.
The size proved the difference, as he bullied Carter around the ring before a flurry of punches put him on the floor.
Rapper Ice T and his wife Coco alongside former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi acted as the event’s MCs.
Only last week boxing fans were subjected to the exhibition showcase between American legend Floyd Mayweather and YouTuber Logan Paul.
But Paul, 26, surprised all as he claimed moral victory going the full eight round distance with Mayweather, 44, in Miami.
Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Carter, as fans on Twitter mocked his performance and the fight itself.

The American is now seeking revenge as he faces Fury once more, after they signed to fight on July 24 following arbitration.
Wilder and his new trainer Malik Scott are working hard and have recently hinted at a tactical switch.
And Hatton – who was in Fury’s corner for the first fight against Wilder – is worried thoughts of a potential unification bout with Anthony Joshua may have seen the Gypsy King take his eye off the ball.
He wrote in his column for the Metro: “Could Tyson Fury be underestimating Deontay Wilder? Possibly.
“That’s the first question everyone is going to ask of him, if there is going to be any complacency. Especially given how easily he won the second fight.
“But Tyson will know he will need to be even more switched on for this one. I know Wilder will be embarrassed deep down over how the last fight ended so he is going to come up more determined.
“Tyson has got to be as determined as him no matter what happened last time.
“And let’s have it right; Deontay Wilder is a murderous puncher. I’ve seen clips of him working with Malik Scott.

“The padwork I’ve seen, he seems to be disguising his big shots a bit better, working more on polishing up his moves a bit more whereas he used to just throw a lot of them from the back row.
“He seems a little more compact in training at the minute, he seems a little bit more controlled and thinking a bit more about what he’s doing.
“He’s started going about things the right way. And he will be up for this, knowing this is his last chance. Tyson’s got to be as up for it as he is.”

The two went face-to-face in a press conference announcing the scrap – but Paul kept losing his focus.
The 24-year-old appeared edgy and kept looking to his right, as Woodley kept his focus on his opponent.
After the head-to-head Woodley, 39, tweeted: “You’re already scared s***less.
“I don’t have to slap you. But the moment I walk away after I knock you out, the world will rejoice!”
And many people commented on the video that was shared on YouTube by Hopps Plug.
One read: This is the moment Jake knew he had picked the wrong opponent.”
Another added that ‘Tyron is going to melt Jake’, while Donovan Driggers wrote that he ‘feels bad for the kid’ as ‘all he wanted was to be like Conor McGregor’.
‘Tyron got this easy’, ‘the moment reality kicked in’ and ‘I bet Jake is going to cancel this fight’ were some of the other comments on the clip.

Paul and Woodley will clash on August 28.
The blue touch paper for their fight was lit moments before Paul’s demolition of Woodley’s good friend Ben Askren in April.
The pair were involved in a heated back-and-forth in the dressing room that left Woodley fuming.
And their subsequent slanging match on social media has teed up the interesting grudge match, which, on paper, is the toughest fight of Paul’s young boxing career.
