Tyson Fury has already won ‘first two rounds’ of Deontay Wilder trilogy with calm press conference antics

TYSON FURY has already banked two rounds of his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder thanks to his performance at their pre-fight press conference.Fury, 32, went face-to-face with The Bronze Bomber last Tuesday for the first time since battering him in their Las Vegas rematch in February 2020.

Wilder, 35, adopted a code of silence, leaving Fury to carry the presser with his pre-fight digs and predictions.
And legendary boxing coach Buddy McGirt believes The Gypsy King’s demeanour has given him an early advantage over the American.
He told Fight Hype: “He’s won the first two rounds already just by being like that. It matters a whole lot.
“All the great fighters you see, they’re the ones that are the most calm, the most relaxed.
“You see everything, you do everything, but when you tense and you’re trying to kill the guy, they just pick you apart.”
McGirt, 57, reckons Wilder needs to adopt a calmer approach to his third encounter with the WBC king.
Deontay Wilder made one sole statement during last week’s press conferenceCredit: Rex
He said of the Olympian: “He’s so caught up in getting revenge that he’s burning a lot of necessary energy mentally.
“I think what he should do is when he goes into the fight, don’t go into it with ‘I’m going to kill him’ attitude.
“Go into it ‘I’m going to beat him,’ but you’ve got to be smart about it.
“You can’t go in there, ‘I’m going to crush him, I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that.’
“Tyson Fury is always relaxed, he’s always calm in a fight, and the calmest fighter is always the better fighter.”
Fury and Wilder will renew their rivalry on July 24 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

And Fury plans to bulldoze the American even earlier than he did last time out.
He said: “I gave my game plan away the first time because he wasn’t good enough to do anything about it.
“And I’ll do the same thing this time because he’s not good enough to do anything about it.
“Deontay Wilder is a one-trick pony. He’s got one-punch power, we all know that – great.
“Because before, I only had five or six weeks practicing what I’m going to do to him. This time, I’ve had 18 months of practicing what I’m going to do to him.
“So I anticipate it’s going to be like an 18-wheeler running over somebody, and that’s what you’re gonna see.
“I’m building my weight up, trying to get up to 300lbs for this fight. Because I’m looking for a big knockout straight away.”

But the Filipino’s chances of winning the fight have been written off by manyCredit: Reuters
The future hall-of-famer’s chances of upsetting The Truth have been written off by many, but Garcia is refusing to rule out a Pacman win.
The former WBC 147lb king told Fight Hype: “I think it’s a 50-50 fight, to be honest.
“I can see both of them knocking each other out.
“And I think this fight is not going to go the distance. I think somebody is getting knocked out. It could be either-or.”
Fan favourite Pacquiao hasn’t fought since his emphatic dethroning of former WBA welterweight champ Keith Thurman in July 2019.
And Garcia reckons the ex-eight-weight champ will spring a huge upset if he fights the same way he did in his last outing.

He added: “If Manny fights the way he fought [Keith] Thurman, I believe he can stop Spence.
“But if Spence comes with his A-game, I think Spence can stop him with a body shot.”

Spence Jr put on a clinic in his decision victory over Garcia last December.
But the slick southpaw plans to send Pacquiao into retirement with a brutal knockout.
The 31-year-old told Barbershop Conversations: “I’m preparing my body to get into training camp mode and do the best that I can.

“I want to get into the best shape that I can.
“Try to be as strong as I can to knock out Manny Pacquiao and send him off into retirement.
“I think he’s then going off to become president of the Philippines or something like that.”
Spence Jr isn’t expecting an easy night at the office, adding: “I expect the same Manny Pacquiao that we get every time.
“He’ll come to fight, and I’ll come to fight.
“I’ll be a lot stronger and physically better than my previous fight.
“If he’s looking at [that video], he should be looking at the Chris Algieri, Lamont Peterson and the Kell Brook fight.
“If he’s looking at the last fight looking for weakness, he’s going to be in trouble.”

The social media star, who wrestled and played American football in college, is 3-0 in his career, all by knockout.
But he has so far only beaten online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 36, a renowned grappler.
Woodley, 39, on the other hand has lost his last four fights and has not win since 2018.
It leaves UFC veteran Stephens, 35, backing Paul to continue his hot streak and praised the celebrity for his dedication and approach to the fight game.
He told MMA News: “I think Jake Paul’s got some skills, man. I think a lot of people kind of estimate this guy.
“I think he actually is gonna do really well against Tyron Woodley, and he might knock him out.
“And he’s got the money, and the training, and he’s surrounded himself with really good people, and he’s an athletic freak.
“And he’s not afraid to put himself out there. I’m kinda diggin’ this guy.”

How Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley compare ahead of their boxing match

Woodley was once the king of the 170lb UFC division after brutally knocking out Robbie Lawler, now 39, in 2016.
He defended the belt four times before surrendering it to current champ Kamaru Usman, 34, in 2019.
He has since lost to Gilbert Burns, 34, Colby Covington, 33, and most recently Vicente Luque, 29, before leaving the UFC.
Paul argued Woodley’s tough streak of defeats leaves him ‘wounded soldier’ and warned their fight will not go into round three.
He told Showtime: “I think as soon as I touch him, his body is going to go back to that losing mentality, the fight or flight and he’s not gonna wanna sit there and fight.

“I don’t know, I just see that that’s why I’ve been saying two rounds.
“I’m too sharp, I’m too fast, I’m too powerful and he has 85 days to do this, learn how to box, and unlearn all those bad habits.
“I’m going to eat up his body, I’m going to eat up his head. ‘He’s not going to know where I’m coming from.
“Kamaru Usman put some damage on him, all these guys put some damage on him, Gilbert Burns put the damage on him.

The 31-year-old will help promote the wellness brand, which already has high profile partners in the UFC including star welterweight Kumaru Usman, after penning a three-year deal.
The London 2012 Olympic champ is deep in talks with mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk about a September showdown on home soil.
But his management firm has found the time to link up with the homegrown business which claims to be able to help athletes with faster muscle recovery, effective pain management and reduced inflammation.
AJ said: “Love Hemp is a great brand with an amazing vision. The ability of CBD to improve people’s everyday lives is undeniable.
“I have a passion for dynamic British businesses, and for wellness, making Love Hemp a perfect brand for me to endorse and become a shareholder in.
“My work with Love Hemp will allow me to be involved in the company’s aggressive growth strategy as well as developing my own branded wellness focused CBD products.
“Everyone should be able to experience and enjoy the many benefits CBD provides.
“I look forward to working with Love Hemp to achieve this goal.”

Becks is backing a skincare firm which uses cannabis in its products
WHAT IS CBD OIL?CANNABIS plants contain two main active ingredients.
CBD or cannabidiol has been found to have medical benefits, while THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is the chemical that makes you high.
CBD oil won’t get you high because it doesn’t contain THC, or has just trace amounts – less than 0.05 per cent.
CBD is an anticonvulsant, and there is evidence it can treat two severe forms of childhood epilepsy, Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
CBD is generally considered safe, but some trials have reported side effects including dry mouth, lightheadedness and altered liver enzyme activity.
The NHS warns that there’s no guarantee that CBD oils available to buy in health stores or online are good quality.
They tend to contain very small amounts of CBD, so the NHS warns it’s not clear what effect they would have.

Joshua was raging when his undisputed summer showdown with Tyson Fury collapsed thanks to Deontay Wilder’s successful legal demand for a third fight with the Gypsy King.
But the two-time champ has been taking out his frustration the best way possible.
He has been pummelling southpaw sparring partners at the Team GB base as they try to mimic the 18-0 Ukraine ace who he is due to meet at Tottenham’s new stadium.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: “AJ knows how good Usyk is, but AJ wants to do a job on him. But he also knows people are unsure about him winning the fight, and I think he likes that.
“He has done four weeks of southpaw sparring up in Sheffield and he is gearing himself up for a big fight.
“We just hope that everywhere is open because we want to do 60-70,000 at Spurs.”
The Sun told in February how Becks, 46, is backing a skincare firm who use cannabis in their products.
And fellow sporting heavyweight Tyson is knocking out his business rivals by making around £500,000 a MONTH from his cannabis farms – and even plans to hold a festival celebrating weed.

And YouTube sensation Paul, 26, shocked the world by going the distance with Money.
Nurmagomedov, however, wasn’t impressed by the bout, saying: “What’s there to say? They came out, made money. It’s purely business.
“There was no competitive aspect to it. Old Mayweather came out, they sparred and made money.
“What else is there to say? How do I feel about it? The guys decided to make money.

The idea of taking part in a lucrative exhibition doesn’t pique the interest of the recently-retired Nurmagomedov.
The Russian said: “I have no interest in doing something like that yet.”
Nurmagomedov, who announced his retirement from MMA last October, flirted with a boxing match against Mayweather shortly after his 2018 victory over Conor McGregor.
And the Dagestani destroyer recently revealed he received a whopping £72million offer to share the ring with the boxing legend.
The undefeated Nurmagomedov told RT Sport: “The enticement is always there.

“There were such discussions with Saudi Arabia.
“They wanted me to fight there. I don’t know about $100 million.
“That was not the exact amount but about that.”
Nurmagomedov announced his retirement from MMA last October after his second-round submission victory over Justin Gaethje.

Farah was down on the scorecards when a left hand caused him to hit the canvas.
But then all hell broke loose as Tabares began stamping on his opponent’s head.
It caused security to storm into the ring and break up the violent rage, with Farah later winning by disqualification.
According to Reduno, the tension between the fighters had built up in the build up and spilled over into the ring.
Tabares is said to have apologised, with Farah opening the door to a rematch.
He reportedly said: “I give him revenge here or in China, as long as the Bolivian Boxing Federation approves it.”
Farah is one of the most recognisable names in Bolivian boxing, with a journeyman record of 73-26-3.

Oscar De La Hoya, 48, aiming for ‘biggest comeback in boxing history’ with Floyd Mayweather rematch in his third fight

OSCAR DE LA HOYA is aiming for ‘the biggest comeback in boxing history’ and wants to rematch Floyd Mayweather in his third return fight. The American boxing legend has not fought since 2008, when Manny Pacquaio brutally sent him into retirement.
Floyd Mayweather was called out by Oscar Da La HoyaCredit: AFP

In the 13 years since, he has focussed his efforts in promoting his Golden Boy stable.
But last year De La Hoya, 48, announced plans to make a comeback, after heavyweight icon Mike Tyson, 54, did the same.
The former six-weight champion faces former UFC veteran Vitor Belfort, 44, on his return to the ring in an exhibition on September 11.
But according to De La Hoya, it is only the start, as he plans to remarkably rule the boxing world once more.
He told DAZN: “I want to make the biggest comeback in boxing history.
“I want to get two of these fights down under my belt, and get the timing ready and everything, and then my third one, I want to call out Floyd Mayweather.”
De La Hoya was the only fighter to ever receive a split-decision against Mayweather, who won their 2007 super-fight narrowly on the cards.
It sold a then-record 2.4million pay-per-view buys and did include a rematch clause at the time.

But after Mayweather briefly retired after beating Ricky Hatton the same year, the second fight never materialised.
The 50-0 unbeaten icon, who officially retired in 2017 after beating Conor McGregor, 32, was most recently in the ring against YouTuber Logan Paul.
Mayweather, to the surprise of many, was unable to knock out Paul, 26, in their eight-round exhibition, meaning no official winner was declared.
Afterwards, he poured cold water on fighting again, as he admitted: “As far as me coming back in the sport of boxing, absolutely not.
“As far as me doing an exhibition again probably not.”

But still, De La Hoya is holding out hope to finally get a second crack at Mayweather, who he believes will be tempted back into the ring again.
He said: “I think Floyd after that exhibition he did with with Logan, I think Floyd has — I think he’s feeling like he has to prove something once again inside the boxing ring.
“So look, if I come out OK, my body feels great — I’m telling you, may jab feels faster than ever.
“I think it’s the 15 years I didn’t use it. If I feel good these next two fights that I have, I’m going to call out Floyd.”

Anthony Joshua’s southpaw sparring who will ‘naturally emulate’ Oleksandr Usyk revealed as heavyweight ramps up training

ANTHONY JOSHUA has brought in a southpaw sparring partner who will ‘naturally emulate’ Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua is set to defend his unified titles against slick Ukrainian Usyk in September in London.
Anthony Joshua has brought in a sparring partner who will ‘naturally emulate’ Oleksandr Usyk
Irishman Thomas Carty with Anthony Joshua
It comes after his undisputed title fight with Tyson Fury, 32, collapsed, forcing his whole training camp to be shifted.
Joshua, 31, was soon ordered by the WBO to face mandatory challenger Usyk, 34, prompting a switch in sparring to leftys.
Among those is 1-0 Irishman Thomas Carty, who has been helping AJ in his Sheffield HQ, and can replicate Usyk without even trying.
Carty told Sky Sports: “No ego whatsoever. Sparring is just sparring. There are no liberties taken.
“Nobody has asked anything in particular of me. I am left-handed and I’m light on my feet, I utilise a lot of movement, so I naturally emulate Usyk.
“You can feel the intensity of the training. Everybody is here to work. You can feel the vibe and the atmosphere.”
Joshua looked in line for a super-fight with long-time rival Fury as the pair agreed terms for a unification on August 14 in Saudi Arabia.
But Deontay Wilder, 35, at the last minute was awarded the right to a third fight with Fury, who had tried to walk away believing the stipulation expired.

They are now set for a trilogy bout on July 24 in Las Vegas, leaving Joshua out in the cold and left to instead move on to Usyk.
AJ may have been expected to take out his frustration in the gym, but according to Carty, the humble champ is business as usual.
He revealed: “AJ is a gent. He’s a normal bloke, nothing crazy. He’s the heavyweight champion but he’s just an average bloke. A really nice fella.
“I have the same goals. Iron sharpens iron.”
Heavyweight southpaws are hard to come by with only two – Usyk and Luis Ortiz – rated in Ring Magazine’s top ten.

Carty knows his style can be a lethal weapon as he rises through the ranks.
He said: “It’s a tactical advantage but only if utilised properly. I don’t have an extra arm or leg. But I do see the benefits.
“So many orthodox guys have only boxed orthodox fighters.
“It makes me stand out. I’m a young, Irish, southpaw heavyweight – there are no others!”
