The Mexican missed weight for the scrap and was outclassed throughout by an opponent who hadn’t had a pro boxing fight for more than 15 years.
Now his father and one of boxing’s best ever wants to see him hang up the gloves for good.
And the other brother, Omar Chavez, has also been told to pack it in after losing his trilogy fight against Canelo Alvarez’s older brother Ramon.
Speaking to Boxing Scene 58-year-old Chavez Sr, who fought his own exhibition against Hector Camacho Jr, said: “I prefer that they retire if they are not going to prepare correctly.
“They do not prepare in the best way possible to fight.”
Anderson Silva earned a split-decision victory at the Estadio Jalisco in Mexico.
Silva made his pro boxing debut way back in 1998 then tasted victory at the second time of asking seven years later before focusing on UFC.
And the 34-11-1 former MMA middleweight champ did enough in his third boxing fight to earn the win.

Boxing as a southpaw, the Spider pulled out vintage moves to dodge and weave the swings from Chavez, taunting him all the way with some trademark showboating.
He landed a huge uppercut in the fourth and after that, Chavez struggled to make his mark for the remainder of the eight rounds.
The sluggish Mexican came in overweight for the limit, forcing him into a £72,000 fine paid to Silva.
And he was bloodied and bruised by the time the judges called it 77-75, 77-75, 75-77 to his opponent in his 60th pro career.
Canelo Alvarez was on hand ringside to congratulate Brazilian Silva on his victory.

Tyson Fury fears dad John’s ‘conspiracy theory’ about Deontay Wilder trilogy fight being ‘fixed’ could be real

TYSON FURY has jokingly claimed his dad’s outlandish ‘conspiracy theory’ about his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder potentially being fixed could be true.Dotting dad John expressed concerns for Tyson’s undefeated record after an American judge ordered his son to face Wilder for a third time.

But The Gypsy Kong has brushed off his father’s concernsCredit: Getty
He told BT Sport: “The danger point is getting fair play out there.
“Because at the minute, the American boxing fraternity has been embarrassed by the last escapade.
“Why wouldn’t you take a $20million step aside without fighting and a guaranteed shot at the winner when you’re fighting for a lot less money than $20m and you’re risking getting your skull caved in again?
“It don’t make sense on his part. So obviously, the powers that be in America are involved, aren’t they?
“And they’re calling the shots and they’ve sort of trapped both men, haven’t they?
“They’ve trapped them both, in my opinion.”

John’s comments didn’t come as a huge surprise to Tyson, who has grown used to hearing his dad’s theories down the years.
When asked about his dad’s comments, The Gypsy King told Michael Bisping: “That’s dads, isn’t it?
“If your dad doesn’t care about you fighting he obviously doesn’t care about you getting knocked out.
“For my dad, he’s not making any money out of this, it’s not his job it is his son, he wants to see me get fair play. My dad is a conspiracy person.
“So whatever happens, there is a conspiracy behind it. My dad thinks this is all a big fix to get me back over here to fight Deontay Wilder.
“I have never proved my dad wrong actually so maybe he is right? I don’t know. So maybe my dad is right.

“He has experience, he is is 50-odd years old and he’s lived a lot more of a life than I have so you can ever say.
“But one thing I can say is all of these people here apart from my brothers, are here doing their job but for my dad it is his life, I’m his blood and his son and he wants what is best for me.”
Fury and Wilder, 32 and 35 respectively, will renew their rivalry on July 24 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The WBC king is brimming with confidence following his seventh-round TKO of the American last February and has vowed to turn in an even better display in their third clash.
He said: “I gave my game plan away the first time because he wasn’t good enough to do anything about it.

“And I’ll do the same thing this time because he’s not good enough to do anything about it.
“Deontay Wilder is a one-trick pony. He’s got one-punch power, we all know that – great.
“Because before, I only had five or six weeks practicing what I’m going to do to him.
“This time, I’ve had 18 months of practicing what I’m going to do to him.
“So I anticipate it’s going to be like an 18-wheeler running over somebody, and that’s what you’re gonna see.
“I’m building my weight up, trying to get up to 300lbs for this fight.
“Because I’m looking for a big knockout straight away.”

Tommy Fury backed to KO ‘trash’ Jake Paul in four rounds by boxer who sparred BOTH YouTuber and Love Island star

TOMMY FURY has been backed to knock out ‘trash’ Jake Paul in four rounds by boxer Ahmed Elbiali, who has sparred BOTH men. Fury, who starred in reality TV show Love Island in 2019, and YouTuber Paul have been feuding online in recent months.

Talks between opposing camps were held but the celebrity mega-fight has been shelved to allow the rivalry to build further.
One man in a position to compare the two is 20-1 Elbiali, who has shared rounds with the pair.
He sparred Paul last year before the social media sensation brutally knocked out ex-NBA player Nate Robinson.
More recently, the light-heavyweight spent time training in America with Fury and his older brother Tyson, the unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion.
Elbiali believes there is no comparison between Fury, 22, and Paul, 24, as he offered his definitive prediction.
He told SunSport: “Tommy in four rounds. He is still getting used to the pro game, whereas Jake is just starting and he’s not fighting boxers.
“After sparring Tommy, I was like he’s a very humble dude, he’s a regular, good old fashioned man which is really good to see.
“He’s a young man, he has fame, I’m sure he has money in his pockets but he treats us really well and that’s surprising as we’re in a similar weight class.

“There’s competition but really much respect to him, he respected my experience and we shared a lot of knowledge in the ring.”
Fury entered ITV’s popular hit series 2-0 and finished runner-up alongside current partner Molly-Mae Hague.
His legion of new fans and followers have seen him move to 6-0, with his latest win on points against Jordan Grant, his first opponent with a winning record.
Paul on the other hand has taken a different approach, going the pay-per-view route, facing other named fighters.
But he so far only beaten online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, basketballer Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 36, a renowned grappler.
Paul’s next fight is his biggest step up to date against ex-UFC champ Tyron Woodley, 39, who reigned from 2016-2018 with seven KOs to his name.
But still, Woodley comes into his boxing debut on August 28 of the back off four defeats, without a win in three years.

Elbiali provided a brutal assessment of Paul and Woodley, as he accused boxing promoters of careful matchmaking.
He said: “Jake’s about to fight Tyron Woodley but I see that as garbage versus trash and I got trash winning by knockout.
“That’s exactly how I see it. Tyron is a really good MMA world champion but he’s garbage at boxing and Jake is just pure trash.
“I saw some videos of Woodley and I was like, ‘This is so sad’. They’re really going to clown this former MMA world champion.
“They’re going to clown the f*** out of him as boxing matchmaking is special, and it takes a while to learn how to hit hard in boxing gloves.
“Jake is the bigger guy too and weight classes matter in boxing. You hit any man in 10-ounce gloves they’re going to feel it.
“I’m sure Tyron hits hard but whoever’s matchmaking Jake’s career is not going to let that happen.”

And the WBC heavyweight champ has brought in the big guns in order to prepare him for his third meeting with the American.
Parker, 29, shared a snap of himself and Fury to Instagram late on Tuesday night.
The post’s accompanying caption read: “Vegas camp with @gypsyking101 and the team just under 5 weeks to go. See you soon.”
Parker’s training with Fury is the second time he’s linked up with The Gypsy King this year.
The Kiwi got some work in with the former unified heavyweight champion of the world ahead of his clash with Derek Chisora in May.

A second consecutive victory over Wilder will put Fury on course for an undisputed heavyweight title fight with Anthony Joshua.
But Fury insists he’s not fussed about unifying the division, telling talkSPORT: “Undisputed and unifying jobs, it’s all bulls**t to me. I’m not interested.
“Whoever the fights are who is there and is available to fight, we fight. As for like undisputed and unified, I’ve done all that.
“I’ve done unification with [Wladimir] Klitschko, I’ve won all the belts before.

“But we already know what I’ve done, we already know who I am. Boxing is boxing. Whether they fight, whether I fight, fine, that’s it.
“No matter if I fight a guy that’s absolutely rubbish or I fight the best guy in the world, I still train hard, I still dedicate [myself], I still sacrifice to it.

“I think it’s about taking it on a fight by fight basis and continuing to build these fights and making them even bigger, taking on more serious opponents.
“If you asked me if I was going to be where I’m at [now] three years ago, I wouldn’t believe you.

“I think I could be fighting Canelo Alvarez for the WBC or WBO championship belt.
“The sky’s the limit and it’s just about how serious I’m going to take it and I do take it seriously – more seriously than 99.9 per cent of these ‘professional’ boxers that are out there.”
Ahead of fighting 39-year-old Woodley, Paul has continued to call out some of MMA’s biggest stars for a boxing contest.
Both Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor are continually name checked by the American.

But a fight with Anderson Silva is not on his agenda as Paul outlined his belief that he can achieve anything in the ring.
He noted: “Why not? A lot of people are afraid to try, to get up out of their seats – they’re afraid to do something different.

Manny Pacquiao ‘out-boxed the s*** out of me’ in 2008 WBC lightweight title clash admits David Diaz

ONLY two boxers have fought both Erik Morales and Manny Pacquiao – and David Diaz is one of them. Diaz stunned many in the American boxing community when he upset the heavily favoured Zab Judah to take a spot at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

He turned pro shortly after the games and went on to have a stellar 15-year career – winning the WBC lightweight title along the way.
He joined Simon Maguire on the ‘Rocky Road: Rewind’ podcast recently to reflect on his fights with two legends of the sport in Morales and Pacquiao.
On August 4, 2007, Diaz came up against Morales – hoping a win over the Mexican icon would solidify his claim to the lightweight title.
“This is a guy who has been through many wars and has been champion three times.
    LOOKING FOR VALIDATION
“That’s what I thought it should have done – validate me as a world champion.”
The fight kicked-off at a frenetic pace but as Diaz charged in late in round one – Morales struck back and knocked him to the canvas.

“I was good – it was a flash knockdown,” he said, adding: “And with a knockdown I figured we were down by two rounds so we got to go back at it and go chase him and put everything I can on him.”
Morales in 2007 wasn’t the fighter he once was – but he still had plenty left in the tank and Diaz felt he had to force the issue to get the win.
    SIMPLE GAME-PLAN
The game-plan was fairly simple – “Just to keep the pressure on. I’ve always been a pressure fighter – that’s been my style…I was either going to make him quit or land a punch that was going to hurt him. That was my mentality going into the fight.”
And, it was a tactic that paid off with Diaz taking a unanimous decision on the scorecards after dominating down the stretch.
While Morales may have been on a downward trajectory – taking a title defence against Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao in 2008 wasn’t picking the easy option.
In his previous seven fights, ‘Pacman’ had stopped Erik Morales twice, beaten Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, Jorge Solis, Oscar Larios and Hector Velasquez as he burst out of the boxing cult to become a global superstar.
    MANNY PACQUIAO
However, Diaz was confident he could beat Pacquiao.
He said: “Like I tell everybody – if a fighter goes into a fight thinking he’s going to get out-classed or out-punched or just lose – then why is he even fighting?
“I honestly felt that I was going to beat Manny Pacquiao. I felt that I was going to be stronger and heavier than him, punch harder than him and I didn’t think his speed was going to be that much of a factor into the fight. That’s just how I felt – I felt that I could really beat him.
“But, obviously in the fight – it was totally different. The man’s speed was incredible…I couldn’t evade any punch or block or anything like that because if I was blocking one – it was because I already got hit there so I figured if he’s going to hit me again I can block that and he can hit me on the other side.
    KNOCKED ME OUT
“It’s one of those things where afterwards I admit defeat obviously because he really beat me up and when he knocked me out – it was a punch that I didn’t see coming and those are the ones that get you and that one got me.”
At this stage in 2008, Pacquiao’s coach, Freddie Roach, was training his protege to be a more well-rounded fighter than just a left-handed KO artist.
The plan to smother the physically smaller Filipino back-fired – as Diaz admits now.
“We know he’s fast and he needs movement and separation in order to let his punches go so that for me was the way to do it.
    A GREAT FIGHTER
“It’s just that he was a great boxer, a great fighter and speed is definitely what killed me. I mean – I can’t defend against it.
“He just out-boxed the s*** out of me with a bunch of punches and really did a number [on me].”
Diaz went out on his shield – losing by ninth round KO.

He retired in 2012 – with a record of 36-4-1 and now works as an estate agent in Chicago.
A three-time national Golden Glove champion, an Olympian and a WBC lightweight champ, he’s content with his legacy in the ring, saying: “Now, I’m super proud…as you get older – you get wiser. I start looking back and I start seeing all the things that I’ve done in the sport of boxing considering where I came from – I’m very pleased with myself, I’m happy.”
(For the record, Marco Antonio Barrera is the only other boxer to have fought both Morales and Pacquiao). More

Tyson Fury ‘did 15 rounds straight’ in training for Deontay Wilder bout as rival shows off shredded torso ahead of fight

TYSON FURY is more than ready to go the distance with Deontay Wilder after sparring for 15 consecutive rounds in a scorching gym, according to ex-champ Dimitriy Salita. The Gypsy King and the Bronze Bomber will finally reunite in the ring for their trilogy fight on July 24.

The fierce heavyweight rivals went face-to-face last week for the first time since Fury battered Wilder in their February 2020 rematch.
WBC champ Fury has been dividing his time between Miami and Las Vegas in the buildup to the fight – ensuring he is putting himself through a gruelling training process.
Former Ukrainian boxer Salita has been keeping a keen eye on Fury’s training and warned Wilder he is in incredible shape.
Speaking to MyBettingSites.co.uk, he said: “I was in Miami with Tyson, and he is in great shape for Wilder next month.
“I went to the gym, and he did fifteen rounds straight with no break. He’s training hard. Tyson is in phenomenal condition and great spirits.
“From a pure boxing point of view, he looks like he’s ready to fight next week.
“He’s in great shape; strength-wise, cardio-wise, skill-wise. Timing-wise. He’s never going to be Mr. Olympia, but don’t judge the book by the cover.
“The gym in Florida is like 97 degrees with humidity. After a couple of rounds, the ring floor heats up, and then the ceiling heats up. It’s close to being a sauna.

“For a little 140 pounder like me, it’s challenging, but for a guy like that. As big as he is, it shows he’s in phenomenal shape to be able to do fifteen rounds in those conditions.
“He’s a truly world-class athlete in every sense of the word.
“Tyson has been training throughout the whole process to get better, learning new things. And he’s so mentally strong that I don’t see ring rust or being out of a ring as a problem.
“At that level, it may even help him against Deontay. I don’t see how being out of the ring has hurt him based on what I saw in the gym.”

Wilder gave Fury the silent treatment at their press conference, preferring to do his talking inside the ring.
And it appears as though the 35-year-old will not cut any corners as he seeks revenge.

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder ‘disagree’ on Oleksandr Usyk threat to Anthony Joshua as heavyweight prepares for fight

TYSON FURY and Deontay Wilder have different views on Oleksandr Usyk’s chances of beating Anthony Joshua. The 2012 Olympic gold medallist defends his WBA, WBO and IBF belts against the Ukrainian at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.

Unbeaten Usyk, 34, has won all of his 18 fights inside the squared circle, including two bouts at heavyweight since stepping up from cruiserweight.
But the Gypsy King believes he poses no threat on AJ, 31, as he backed his compatriot to easily come out on top.
He told SecondsOut: “I don’t believe Usyk is a heavyweight for one. I think he’s a pumped up cruiserweight who struggles with heavyweights.
“In my opinion, Derek Chisora beat Oleksandr Usyk – he certainly struggled with Derek Chisora and Joshua is a much bigger, stronger man than Derek.
“I think he walks straight through Usyk, people are trying to build it up as a scary fight but he didn’t have the power to halt cruiserweights like Mairis Briedis or whoever else he fought.
“So he ain’t going to halt AJ, 260-pounds of pure muscle and 6ft 6in, how’s he going to keep him off?”
But the Bronze Bomber, who will face Fury in their trilogy bout on July 24, has stated that Usyk could spring an upset victory.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Usyk’s chances of a win, he said: “Everyone is a threat until proven otherwise.

“Every fight is dangerous – you never know what night a person will have.”
Joshua has insisted that competing against the former undisputed cruiserwight champ and Olympic gold medallist does not faze him.
When asked about the danger Usyk possesses, he remarked: “None. I fear none of them. He doesn’t bring anything that I haven’t seen before.
“Two arms, two legs, a brain and a bit of heart. That’s it, so let’s get it on. He’s a good fighter. I’m challenging myself in training – it’s not so much his challenge.
“I will go in there not thinking about the task ahead. That’s something I can’t do. I don’t want to overcomplicate this task.
“I will believe in myself, go in there and do what I know I can do. People don’t know what I can do until they are in the ring with me.
“I’ll show what I’m about. I will tick another box when the final bell goes – if it does go!”
