Jake Paul will never ‘have the balls to fight bare-knuckle’ says champion, who challenges YouTuber to ‘prove me wrong’

JAKE PAUL will never ‘have the balls to fight bare-knuckle’ said champion Hector Lombard, who challenged the YouTuber: ‘Prove me wrong’. Lombard, formerly of the UFC, recently won the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship cruiserweight title.

Hector Lombard, right, wants to fight YouTuber Jake Paul
He did so by beating Joe Riggs, 38, but made headlines for his post-fight brawl with Lorenzo Hunt, also 38.
Afterwards, Lombard, 43, called out Paul, 24, and recently doubled down on his offer to do it with brutal exposed fists.
He told MMA Junkie: “I don’t think he’s ever going to have the balls to fight bare-knuckle.
“This is a guy I’ve been supporting – Jake Paul – way before anybody.
“I remember when I said on my Instagram that Jake Paul was going to KO Ben Askren, a lot of people laughed at me.
“But Ben Askren sucks at boxing, so I was right. Jake Paul is an athlete, but I don’t think he’s got the (guts) to ever take the gloves off and fight bare-knuckle.
“I don’t think so. And he can prove me wrong.”
Lombard is now 3-0 in bare-knuckle, having last fought in MMA in 2018.

He left the UFC after six straight losses, but was rival Bellator’s inaugural middleweight champ.
Paul is 3-0 in his boxing career, all by KO and has made a habit of feuding with ex-UFC stars.
The social media sensation faces ex-champion Tyron Woodley, 39, on August 28 in his fourth and most challenging fight to date.
Paul most recently knocked out retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 36, in the first round of their fight in April.
It added to his two highlight-reel wins over online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ and ex-NBA point guard Nate Robinson, 37.
Woodley, who has seven KOs to his name, reigned the UFC’s welterweight division from 2016-2018 with four defences.
But he departed the promotion this year off the of four straight defeats, leaving him without a win in three years.

Deontay Wilder is ‘the biggest punching heavyweight since Mike Tyson’ but ‘has no class or skillset’, says Tony Bellew

DEONTAY WILDER is the ‘biggest punching heavyweight since Mike Tyson’ but has not got the class or skillset to match it, Tony Bellew reckons.Wilder has 41 knockouts in his 42 wins and a 93.2 per cent KO ratio, making him one of the most devastating hitters of all time.

It served him well enough to reign as the WBC champion from 2015-2020 until he was dethroned by Tyson Fury.
Wilder dropped Fury twice in their 2018 fight, but was floored on two occasions himself in their rematch and beaten in round seven.
Bellew, who twice fought at heavyweight beating David Haye, argues the American lacks the technical ability to match his power.
He told talkSPORT: “There’s telegraphing punches and then there’s skimming the lights above the ring – that’s what Deontay Wilder was doing.
“His punches were that wild and that crude. He was out of control.
“He may have crazy power and he might be the biggest punching heavyweight since Mike Tyson, but he has no class and he has no skillset to match that power.
“So it’s like a bull in a china shop. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.
“He can’t set his attacks up, his jab was just useless in the fight, he didn’t know what to do. Even when he had Tyson Fury down and out he couldn’t finish him.”

Fury, 32, faces Wilder, 35, in a trilogy bout on July 24 after he was ordered to do so by an arbitrator.
He failed to walk away from his contracted rematch to instead unify the division with Anthony Joshua.
Joshua, 31, is now left to face mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk, 34, in September.
AJ still hopes to fight Fury afterwards and Bellew questions whether the Gypsy King would be able to fight off his rival like he did against Wilder.
“Think about this, if Tyson Fury gets dropped by Anthony Joshua, do you genuinely believe he’s going to be able to see out the round?” Bellew said.
“Anthony Joshua is one of the best finishers – right now he’s the best finisher in the heavyweight division.”

Deontay Wilder knows his ‘career is on the line’ in Tyson Fury trilogy and defeat leaves him ‘no longer among the elite’

DEONTAY WILDER knows his ‘career is on the line’ against Tyson Fury and defeat leaves him ‘no longer among the elite’, his ex-promoter said. Wilder is on the comeback trail having been dethroned of the WBC title by Fury in February 2020.

It leaves him one win away from sweet redemption but all at the risk of suffering another crushing loss at the hands of his heavyweight rival.
Wilder’s former co-promoter Lou DiBella argues his trilogy fight against Fury on July 24 is an almighty roll at the dice.
DiBella told SecondsOut: “Look, his career is on the line, and he knows it.
“I mean, if he gets smoked again by Fury, where does he go? He’s no longer among the elite in the heavyweight division.
“So whatever he wants to do right now to carry him into the fight with the greatest confidence and personal peace is probably what he should be doing.”
Wilder, 35, initially drew with Fury, 32, in 2018 but was beaten in devastating fashion two years later in their rematch.
They were contracted to a trilogy bout but amid the coronavirus pandemic it was continuously delayed.
Fury then tried to walk away from the immediate rematch to instead enter talks for an undisputed title decider with Anthony Joshua, 31.

But Wilder took the dispute to arbitration and was later awarded the victory, setting up his date with destiny.
The American recently posted a video weight lifting where he urged Fury ‘get your weight up’ as he trained alongside new coach Malik Scott.
Having been firstly outboxed and then outmuscled in the rematch, DiBella admitted Wilder’s best chance in the trilogy is to come in stronger.
He said: “He’s obviously getting himself into shape to be strong for this fight, so I’m not going to get on him for the video.
“I think his strength is his best hope. He’s not outboxing Tyson Fury. He’s not. And he’s either knocking him out or beating him up.
Deontay Wilder pictured weight liftingCredit: Ryan Hafey/ Premier Boxing Champions
“It’s virtually impossible to see him outboxing him, so physical strength is probably an important component for him.
“If he’s to win the fight by knockout if his puncher’s chance is to come through, his head has to be in the right place.
“So if part of this stuff that looks weird by Malik and the people around him to get his head in the right space, then it’s probably smart.
“You can get hurt by lifting a lot of weight with bad form.
“That being said, getting your head right if you’re Deontay Wilder, it’s hugely important right now.”

Pacquiao and his team were then forced to stay at Haneda airport for three hours before having to fly back to Manila.
And according to Rapples, the 62-7 fighter then boarded another plan to America on Sunday.
He is set to begin training with Freddie Roach and strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune on Monday, but now will not have much time in between to rest from his travel.
Pacman is set to begin preparing for his fight with Errol Spence jr. at Wild Card Boxing gym in LA.
Spence jr. boasts a record of 27-0 with 21 knockouts and currently holds the WBC and IBF welterweight titles.
But Pacquiao also holds two belts, the WBA (Regular) welterweight title and the WBA (Super) welterweight title, which he won in his last fight against Keith Thurman in 2019.
So while he may work as a senator in the Philippine House of Representatives away from the ring, he will fancy his chances against Spence jr.

The pair will meet on August 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will be Pacquiao’s 23rd fight in the city.
There is not much to differentiate the duo according to Ryan Garcia, who predicted a knockout without picking a winner.
Garcia is all too aware of the strengths of Spence jr. after the 31-year-old beat him via unanimous decision at the end of last year.

Jake Paul slams Floyd Mayweather helping UFC star Tyron Woodley train for their big fight and blasts shape he’s in

JAKE PAUL has piled into Floyd Mayweather for helping to train upcoming opponent Tyron Woodley. The former UFC star will have to adapt his style for the boxing ring ahead of his bout with Paul on August 28.
Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul peviously had a heated exchange face-to-face
Floyd Mayweather invited Woodley to train with him in Las Vegas
And he has been learning from boxing legend Mayweather since the 44-year-old invited him to Las Vegas.
But Paul is not concerned by the pair linking up as Mayweather failed to defeat his brother Logan Paul in a recent exhibition fight.
As reported by Michael Benson, Jake Paul said: “How is Floyd Mayweather (who couldn’t even get in shape or come up with a strategy enough to beat my brother) gonna teach another old man how to beat me?”
Paul is no stranger to putting down his opponents or winding up Mayweather.
He infamously stole the 50-0 boxer’s hat in the build-up to the fight against his brother, sparking fury for Mayweather.
The Youtuber then proceeded to release a song about the incident and even got a tattoo to remember the stunt.
But while Paul has disparaged Mayweather and his ability, Woodley is delighted to be training with the “the greatest”.

Speaking of his partnership with Mayweather, Woodley said: “They just texted me, let’s do it. I just talked to him today so for sure, why would I not train with the greatest boxer of all time?
“He’s already my dog and we’ve been talking about training anyway, so for sure. I’m definitely going to take him up on that.”
Woodley recently labelled Paul a “dummy” and vows to knock out Problem Child inside three rounds when they meet in the ring.

Tyson Fury gave me ‘best advice I’ve heard’ reveals Muhammad Ali’s grandson Nico Ali Walsh as he prepares for pro debut

MUHAMMAD ALI’S grandson Nico Ali Walsh showed his appreciation of Tyson Fury in the build-up to his first professional fight.Walsh, 20, is set to fight on August 14 after signing his first professional deal with Top Rank last month.

Walsh said Tyson Fury has given him the best advice he has ever received
And Sugarhill Steward, Fury’s trainer, will be training Walsh, who is the son of Ali’s daughter Rasheda Ali Walsh.
Appearing on ESPN Walsh was asked what it has been like to work with Sugarhill as well as what to expect from him as a boxer.
He said: “My biggest asset in being a fighter is I’m boxing because I love it but I’m boxing because the legacy is so important to me.
“That really fuels me in boxing so I feel I am able to do certain things that I would not be able to do if not for that legacy.
“Tyson Fury actually gave me the best advice I’ve heard. He said he had 35 amateur fights: If you can fight, you can fight.”
And Top Rank boss Bob Arum, Ali’s former promoter, certainly believes Walsh is capable of putting on a show.
He is plotting big things for the fighter, starting with a possible UK bout next month.

Muhammad Ali and his grandson even share the same promoter, Bob Arum

Arum told Sky Sports: “(He’s a) Lovely, lovely kid. Very, very well spoken and we’ve had him training with Sugarhill Steward, who is Tyson’s trainer, and he said the kid has ability.
“We’re going to start him on the road and you’ll see the fight over in the UK. It’s on August 14, and he’ll be on that card.
“Then we’ll bring him hopefully to Madison Square Garden, where his grandfather excelled and we can show him in the Garden.”
Eddie Hearn is hosting a Matchroom Fight Camp on August 14 so attention could be focused on Joshua Buatsi vs Ricards Bolotniks, which is scheduled for that date.
But Fury may have his eyes on Walsh’s first fight, and whether he can transfer his amateur record into the professional field.
