And he ended up taking home $85,000 in total as The Notorious broke his ankle just before the end of round one.
It left him unable to fight on as the doctor waved off the contest, with Poirier declared the winner.
Posting his wager, Mayweather captioned: “@dustinpoirier , thanks for getting me paid!”
Poirier replied: “I got you champ!”

McGregor was later taken to hospital where he will undergo surgery, UFC president Dana White confirmed.
White said: “All that stuff, you can’t do the hypotheticals in this sport.
“It’s all about timing and what’s going on and what has happened since then.
“We’ve got to see how this whole thing plays out. Conor goes into surgery tomorrow.

“I don’t know how long he’s going to be out, how much rehab and therapy he’s going to need. You know.”
McGregor was adamant on keeping the chapter open, meaning a FOURTH fight between himself and Poirier cannot be ruled out if he makes a recovery.
He said: “I was boxing the bleeding head off him, kicking the bleeding leg off him.
“Usual s***e, dive to close the distance. This is not over. I have to take this outside with him, it’s all outside.”
Poirier also confirmed his interest in another rematch, and would even be willing to do it on the street.
He said: “We are going to fight again whether it’s in the octagon or on the sidewalk.”

Jake Paul mocks Conor McGregor while rubbing $100k necklace and saying ‘goodnight buddy’ after Poirier loss at UFC 264

JAKE PAUL mocked Conor McGregor while rubbing his $100,000 necklace of the Irishman, who broke his shin against Dustin Poirier. McGregor was knocked out by Poirier in January – seven years after his own win – and the pair renewed their rivalry for a series decider.

YouTuber Paul was cageside as he continues to push for a mega-money boxing match against the Irish superstar.
And the trilogy bout ended in disaster for McGregor as he suffered a broken shin at the end of round one against Poirier.
It forced the doctor to stop the fight, with Paul rubbing the defeat in afterwards.
He said: “Goodnight buddy.” He then zoomed into the diamond chain of a knocked out McGregor.”
After a frantic first round in Las Vegas, it ended in chaos as McGregor stood on his ankle leaving the doctor no choice but to stop the fight.
The former two-weight champion insisted their rivalry is ‘not over’ as the pair were STILL trading words post-fight.
McGregor, 32, said: “I was boxing the bleeding head off him, kicking the bleeding leg off him.
“Usual s***e, dive to close the distance. This is not over. I have to take this outside with him, it’s all outside.”

Before the fight, McGregor boasted how he had Poirier’s wife, Jolie, messaging him on Instagram.
And as the bad blood spilled over, again he looked to goad Poirier.
McGregor said: Your wife is in my DM’s. Hey baby, hit me back up and I’ll chat to you later on.
“We’ll be having an afterparty at the Wynn nightclub baby.”
McGregor – who promised Poirier would be leaving on a stretcher – was the one assisted out of the T-Mobile Arena.
But he left adamant on keeping the chapter open, meaning a FOURTH fight between himself and Poirier cannot be ruled out if he makes a recovery.

Manny Pacquiao WON’T be reinstated as WBA champion before Errol Spence Jr fight after being stripped for inactivity

MANNY PACQUIAO will not be reinstated as WBA champion before fighting Errol Spence Jr after being stripped for inactivity. Spence will put his WBC and IBF belts on the line against the Filipino legend on August 21 in Las Vegas.

The Ring Magazine also voted to have their title on the line, despite usually having the vacant belt contested only between their top two ranked fighters.
A FOURTH strap could have been involved too, after the WBA’s board of governors voted on the potential reinstatement of Pacquiao as their champ.
But they ultimately decided against it, with Yordenis Ugas keeping his status having been elevated from the WBA’s secondary ‘Regular’ champion.
The WBA in January announced PacMan, 42, was stripped due to inactivity, with Cuban Ugas, 34, upgraded.
The governing body announced per their ruling, when a champ is unable to defend the belt for medical, legal or other reasons beyond his control, he may be named champion in recess.
Pacquiao has not returned to the ring since he won the title against Keith Thurman, 32, in July 2019.
But due to the coronavirus pandemic, he was not able to make a comeback – falling into the ‘other reasons beyond his control’ section.
Pacquiao, who has won titles in EIGHT divisions, is now in Los Angeles training with long-time coach Freddie Roach ahead of his return.

Roach revealed his star pupil is still motivated by proving bookmakers wrong as he bids to become the first man to ever beat southpaw Spence.
He said:  “Manny lives for the challenge and the competition.  Manny loves hearing that the Las Vegas odds and the media favour Errol Spence.
“Manny knows it’s a tough fight – probably his toughest – but that’s why he began his conditioning so early in the Philippines.
“Usually, jet lag keeps him out of the gym for one day the first week he arrives in Los Angeles.  Not this time.
“He has been here every day, training two and half to three hours each afternoon.
“I usually hold off sparring the first week, but Manny insisted on sparring yesterday, so we brought in Maurice Lee and Alexis Rocha, who went two rounds each with Manny.
“Manny has achieved so much in his boxing career and in his life.  But everyone in camp can sense this fight has a special meaning.
“It is not just about beating a top pound-for-pound fighter or winning more titles.  This time it’s all about boxing immortality for Manny Pacquiao.”

After seeing the Irishman’s display at the UFC 264 pre-fight press conference, he said: “You can tell Conor has lost ‘it’.

He has returned twice since then – both in exhibition bouts – the first with featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan.
But more recently he gave away TWO STONE against YouTuber Paul, 26, which went the full eight round distance.
McGregor blasted Mayweather for the bizarre fight, which ended without a winner as there was no knockout, and opened the door to a rematch.
He told ESPN’s Stephen A Smith: “I have no problem with Floyd, it wasn’t a good look for him to face against that man (Logan Paul) in his last one.
“It didn’t feel right, even he didn’t feel right, you could see it in him. We can go again if he wants.
“I feel that’s going to happen at some stage down the line.”
McGregor, 32, made his pro boxing debut against Mayweather, 44, but is yet to return to the ring.
He was then in talks with Manny Pacquiao, 42, before making his UFC comeback in January in a rematch against Dustin Poirier, 32, who he beat in 2014.

BETTING SPECIAL – Get McGregor to win by knockout, TKO or DQ at 40/1

But after Poirier knocked the Irishman out, his return to the boxing ring was shelved.
McGregor admitted to putting too much emphasis on boxing before the defeat, as he faces Poirier in a trilogy decider on Saturday.
Ahead of the UFC 264 headliner, he has vowed to focus solely on MMA, but did not rule out another venture into the ring.
McGregor said: “For sure I’ll box again.
“Like I’m back on the sites, the boxing is not even on the radar at the minute. But I will do, of course.”

Hall weighed as heavy as 197kg (30st) in 2017 when he was at the peak of his strongman career.
But earlier this year, he posted a side-by-side picture which revealed he was down to 161kg (25st).
In Hall’s latest training video, he trained with a 150kg heavy bag in preparation to fight Thor.
And he also confirmed he is down to 158kg, now at a lowest of 24st 8lb.
Hall, 33, said on YouTube: “It is day one of the 12 week fight camp. Things are ramping up, or ramping down, whichever way you look at it.

And afterwards, he warned: “Eddie Hall, you better be training your ass off because I’m coming for you, and I’m knocking you out – you’re going down.
“I respect you as an athlete, and I know you’re training hard, but I am going to knock you out, see you soon.”
Hall opted against warm-up bouts but has released ruthless sparring footage heading into the pay-per-view spectacle.

Woodley linked up with the boxing legend in Miami alongside trainer Gerald Tucker.
In the video, the former UFC welterweight shadow boxes in the ring with Mayweather, before hitting the pads and heavy bag.
In Woodley’s ‘Champ Camp’ series, Mayweather says: “When you’re on that bag, you go like you’re in the UFC ring.
“The same way you work there, that’s how I want you to work here.”
Mayweather recently fought Paul’s brother Logan, 26, in an exhibition bout which to the shock of many went the full eight round distance.
Beforehand, Jake stole the retired legend’s hat, sparking talk of a fight between the two.
But Mayweather poured cold water on a return to the ring after he failed to knock out Logan.
He has instead turned his attention to training Woodley and offered to set the American up in Las Vegas at his boxing club.
BETTING SPECIAL – Get McGregor to win by knockout, TKO or DQ at 40/1
How Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley compare ahead of their boxing match

Woodley told FightHub: “They want me to come to Vegas. He came in yesterday and we trained and he really wants to help me.
“I learned so much. If I never got the chance to work with him again, I learned enough little, small details and small little back pocket tricks that will take me through this fight and maybe through a couple fights.”
Woodley will make his boxing debut against Paul, having left the UFC after four straight losses.
But he did reign the welterweight division from 2016-2018 with four defences, but is without a win in three years.
Meanwhile, Paul has burst onto the boxing scene since his professional debut in 2020, when he beat online rival ‘AnEsonGib’.
But he only has wins over YouTuber Gib, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 36, a renowned grappler.
Woodley will provide Paul with the greatest test of his prizefighting career so far.
