Errol Spence Jr is better fighter than Floyd Mayweather and will teach boxing icon how to go toe-to-toe, taunts Pacquiao

MANNY PACQUIAO reckons Errol Spence Jr is better than Floyd Mayweather and could teach the boxing legend ‘how to fight toe to toe’.Pacquiao was beaten by Mayweather in a 2015 bout that captured the imagination with 4.6million PPV buys and £600million in revenue.

The two fighting icons have continued to feud ever since despite never rematching.
Mayweather recently revealed he would contact Spence to give the ‘pointers’ on how to beat Pacquiao.
It comes ahead of PacMan’s unified welterweight world title challenge against the unbeaten American on August 21.
Pacquiao, 42, hit back at Mayweather, 44, and taunted that Spence, 31, does not need any help, as he is the better of the two.
He said: “You know actually Errol don’t need to have advice from Mayweather, because I believe that Errol is better than Mayweather.
“I think he will teach Mayweather how to fight toe to toe.”
Spence was a once former sparring partner of Mayweather’s and revealed the now-retired icon is still an advisor of his.
He said: “Definitely, he’s a guy that reaches out sometimes and talks to me and things like that.

“He tries to mentor me sometimes, so he’ll definitely reach out. If he says he’ll reach out, he probably will.”
Spence, the WBC and IBF champion, thanked Pacquiao for the praise at the expense of Mayweather, but will not be tricked into false sense of security.
He explained: “It is a great accomplishment, but like I said before, Manny Pacquiao is the kind of guy who will walk you to sleep.
“He will give you a lot of compliments and gratitude and things like that, and then as soon as the bell rings, he will be jumping all over you, so you know how I take it.”

Deontay Wilder’s chances of beating Tyson Fury ruled out by Eddie Hearn who slams Bronze Bomber’s lack of ‘movement’

DEONTAY WILDER’s chances of beating Tyson Fury have been written off by Eddie Hearn – who has been less than impressed by The Bronze Bomber’s recent training clips. The former WBC champion, 35, is set to have a trilogy fight with the Gypsy King in October.

Wilder has brought in ole foe Malik Scott to help prepare him for his third clash with the Brit.
But Hearn insists the addition of Scott won’t solve the American’s problems, telling DAZN: “A guy doesn’t just grow ability overnight, that’s the difference.
“[He looks] exactly the same. You’ve seen clips on Instagram of him hitting pads with Malik Scott.
“The movement? Exactly the same. The footwork? Exactly the same. You’re not gonna teach him new tricks.
“Yes, he will always be dangerous, he will always have the ability to take any heavyweight out with one punch.
“Therefore, you cannot rule him out in this fight and I’m not saying he doesn’t have a chance. He’s exactly the same fighter.

“He’s also, mentally, completely and utterly defeated.
“You only have to look at the, almost like the psychoanalysis of what’s unfolded in the last three or four months.
“His comments and everything. He’s not just gonna learn things with Malik Scott to beat Tyson Fury.”
Wilder and Fury were due to renew their rivalry in Las Vegas a week on Saturday before an outbreak of Covid in the latter’s camp.
But Hearn reckons the postponement of the fight wasn’t just Covid related.
He said told iFL TV: “Whether it’s Covid-related, whether it’s they haven’t sold any tickets, whether it was worry that the pay-per-view was going to flop, whether it was Fury’s camp wasn’t going great, I have no idea.

“I’m sure someone has got Covid, and it’s not an unusual occurrence.
“I think when you look at the manifest and the seats available online, you look at how few tickets were sold for the event – it does start stinking a little bit.
“But I’m sure there’s some truth to it. October is a bit weird. It’s all a bit weird.
“The fight might be delayed because someone in the camp has got Covid.
“An hour later, Fury’s got Covid, and then an hour later, it’s off. Top Rank said, ‘No, it’s not off at the moment – we’ll keep you updated.’
“Then a half an hour later, it’s off. Who knows?
“It’s very difficult, when he had the dealing which we had [with Fury’s camp] to believe anything.”

Conor McGregor has incredible offer to train with Canelo’s boxing coach after ‘surprising’ display vs Floyd Mayweather

CANELO ALVAREZ’S coach offered to help train Conor McGregor following the UFC star’s ‘surprising’ display against Floyd Mayweather. McGregor lost his ring debut in 2017 against Mayweather in ten rounds, but raised eyebrows after a fast start.

He is yet to make a return to boxing after talks to face Manny Pacquiao collapsed following his loss to Dustin Poirier in January.
McGregor suffered a first-round TKO loss in his third bout with the Diamond at the weekend after breaking his left leg.
Doubts have since emerged over the Irishman’s future in UFC and he has already got an enticing offer to return to boxing.
Speaking back in March, Mexican trainer Eddy Reynoso offered McGregor a masterclass in the sweet science.

Honestly, when he fought Mayweather he surprised me. He has a good counter. He has good footwork, waist movement, and agility.Eddy Reynoso
He told Little Giant Boxing, translated from Spanish: “Here we can support him. We can help to better his boxing and defence.
“Honestly, when he fought Mayweather he surprised me. He has a good counter. He has good footwork, waist movement and agility.
“Therefore, I think he would do good in boxing. Give it your best, keep working hard, don’t quit.”
McGregor, 32, has been linked with a rematch against Mayweather, 44, ever since their blockbuster in Las Vegas.

Even boxing pound-for-pound king and four-division champion Canelo, 30, opened the door last April to fighting McGregor.
But Alvarez – also subject to a callout from UFC favourite Jorge Masvidal – could instead end up helping The Notorious brush up on his skills.
Reynoso said: “There’s bad nights sometimes. Conor has a lot to give, I don’t know what happened, but his career is untouchable.
“He’s a tremendous athlete that’s going to be in the history books.
Andy Ruiz Jr, Canelo Alvarez, Eddy Reynoso, Frank Sanchez, Ryan Garcia and Oscar Valdez
“Anytime, this is your home Conor whenever you wanna come practice and learn. We welcome you with open arms.”
Reynoso has a star-studded stable in his adopted home of San Diego, with Ryan Garica, 22, Andy Ruiz Jr, 31 and Oscar Valdez, 30, alongside Canelo.

But Hearn reckons poor ticket sales for the T-Mobile Arena tussle may have played a part in the fight being pushed back.
During an interview with iFL TV, he said: “Whether it’s covid-related, whether it’s they haven’t sold any tickets, whether it was worry that the pay-per-view was going to flop, whether it was Fury’s camp wasn’t going great, I have no idea.

The Nigerian moved to 12-0 after stopping Steven Lyons at the weekend
The 30-year-old has finished all 12 of his opponents inside two rounds and has previously offered to spar with Fury earlier this year.
But Akpejiori is now seeking a fight with WBC heavyweight champion Fury or top contender Dillian Whyte.

He told Sky Sports: “If I was going to name a dream fight for me in the next year, I would say Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.
“Those are two guys I know I can step in the ring with and beat both of them.
“But my goal is to have the heavyweight belts in my hand. Once I’ve accomplished that, everything else will fall in place.”
Akpejiori  – who has called out Anthony Joshua before – wanted to help Fury prep for an undisputed title decider with AJ.
Yet the 6′ 8″ heavyweight has now admitted he agrees with the WBA, IBF and WBO champ’s view on the art of boxing.
He added: “It’s pretty evident that when I touch people they kind of go to sleep.

“I’m not oblivious to that fact, but I’m not focused on that.
“As Anthony Joshua says, ‘The right hand can take you around the block, but a jab can take you around the world.’
“That is an absolute truth in boxing.”

Fury vs Wilder fight delay leaves Gypsy King ‘very frustrated’ with Warren highlighting 20-month wait for ring return

TYSON FURY faces a frustrating wait to fight Deontay Wilder with promoter Frank Warren suggesting the bout could take place in October. The pair were due to fight for the third time this month but the Gypsy King tested positive for coronavirus, postponing the July 24 date.
Tyson Fury faces 20 months out of the ring after his Covid positive test led to the fight’s postponement
Deontay Wilder could get his third shot at Fury in October this year
And now Fury will likely have to wait another three months to face the American, meaning he will go 20 months without a fight.
Warren expressed sympathy for his fighter, telling BT Sport: “It’s looking some time in October, which is a great shame it’s been postponed, but it is what it is.
“Unfortunately, they in the camp and himself got tested positive for Covid. There’s nothing we can do about it.
“It’s the times we live in, so the fight is postponed. Pushed back.
“Very frustrating. Really frustrating for Tyson. By the time he gets into the ring, he will have been out for nearly 20 months. That’s a long, long time.”
Fury’s last bout was his defeat of Wilder in February 2020, when he claimed the WBC and vacant The Ring heavyweight titles.
The Brit’s withdrawal means Wilder too will go 20 months without fighting, unless a new opponent is found.
Dillian Whyte has expressed his desire to fight Wilder instead of Fury, suggesting the WBC should order the 35-year-old to fight him.
Whyte is interim champion and he wants to step up in Fury’s place.

“When stuff like this happens and fights fall through and the champion is injured or can’t fight, or for whatever reason can’t defend the title, then the interim champion steps up.

The YouTuber attended their trilogy fight at UFC 264 in Las Vegas, which ended in chaos.
McGregor suffered a suspected broken ankle just before the end of the round and was unable to fight on.
Following the doctor’s stoppage, Poirier was declared the winner, giving him two consecutive wins over his rival.
And Paul was quick to congratulate the American, while rubbing salt into the wounds of McGregor.
He tweeted: “aye @DustinPoirier want me to ship this to you? $100k gift from me I think you deserve it.”
Paul, who is 3-0 as a boxer all by knockout, has continuously chased a mega-money boxing match against McGregor.
But the former two-weight UFC champion, who called the social media star and his brother Logan ‘dingbats’, promised to commit his immediate future to MMA.
And Paul now has a longer wait to face McGregor, who wants a FOURTH fight with Poirier.

Logan Paul says ‘RIP Conor McGregor’s career’ and claims UFC legend’s star power has plummeted ‘into the ground’

damn. crazy to see a star with such a meteoric rise literally plummet into the ground just a few years later. It’s sad tbh. RIP Conor McGregor’s career— Logan Paul (@LoganPaul) July 11, 2021

McGregor – who has now only won once in five years – suffered a broken ankle before the end of round one and was left unable to fight on.
With the 32-year-old pair tied at one apiece, they looked to try and settle their trilogy at UFC 264.
But both fighters were left calling for a FOURTH fight as the bad blood spilled out afterwards.
YouTuber Jake Paul, 24, was among those to mock McGregor, who predicted Poirier would leave on a stretcher, only to go out on one himself.
Paul’s brother Logan, 26, followed it up by insisting this is the end of the road for The Notorious.
He tweeted: “damn. crazy to see a star with such a meteoric rise literally plummet into the ground just a few years later.
“It’s sad tbh. RIP Conor McGregor’s career.”
McGregor was later taken to hospital where he will undergo surgery, UFC president Dana White confirmed.

White said: “All that stuff, you can’t do the hypotheticals in this sport.
“It’s all about timing and what’s going on and what has happened since then.
“We’ve got to see how this whole thing plays out. Conor goes into surgery tomorrow.
“I don’t know how long he’s going to be out, how much rehab and therapy he’s going to need. You know.”
McGregor was adamant on keeping the chapter open, meaning a FOURTH fight between himself and Poirier cannot be ruled out if he makes a recovery.
He said: “I was boxing the bleeding head off him, kicking the bleeding leg off him.
“Usual s***e, dive to close the distance. This is not over. I have to take this outside with him, it’s all outside.”
Poirier also confirmed his interest in another rematch, and would even be willing to do it on the street.
He said: “We are going to fight again whether it’s in the octagon or on the sidewalk.”
