Ricky Hatton fears Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury is ‘doomed’ and Gypsy King ‘might just say “f*** it”‘

RICKY HATTON believes Tyson Fury’s potential unification showdown with Anthony Joshua ‘could be doomed’ after the latest delay. The Gyspy King was due to face AJ for all the belts before Deontay Wilder won an appeal to get his trilogy fight with the Brit.

Fury’s camp last week said the star had caught coronavirus, leading to his July 24 fight with Deontay Wilder being pushed back to October 9.
The 32-year-old has not fought since his seventh-round KO of American Wilder in February of last year – something rival Dillian Whyte has slammed him for.
Now Hatton, who has been in the WBC champion’s corner several times previously, has voiced his concern over whether Fury can compete to the best of his ability when the Joshua fight comes to fruition – if it even happens.
‘The Hitman’ wrote in his Metro column: “What puts a further damper on it for me is the fight we all want, Fury vs Anthony Joshua, now seems further away than ever.
“What happens now? It all just pushes the fight further back. As a fight fan, you fear the worst, the biggest fight in British boxing history, is it actually going to happen? It just seems we are doomed.
“Tyson’s problems in the past with his depression, his mental health and battles with drink and drugs have been well documented in the past.
“I remember Tyson saying to me ages ago: ‘I want a couple of warm-up fights then I want to beat Wilder. Then immediately after that, I want to fight AJ. And then I’m done.’
“Anthony Joshua is younger, he has less miles on the clock, he is an athlete 24-7. I know Tyson is an athlete 24-7 now but the damage he might have done to his body years back.
“Tyson wants to get in, get out and prove he is the best fighter in the world. And the more it goes on, the more I worry that Tyson might just go: ‘F**k it’.”

Hatton added: “When you think about it, Tyson had two comeback fights, he went straight in against Wilder and went straight in for the rematch.
“He wants to get his career and his legacy done and dusted.
“Whereas for AJ, the younger, fresher of the two, it doesn’t matter as much if this drags out another two or three years. It does for Tyson. The longer this drags out the better this is for AJ.”

Dillian Whyte launches sensational attack on ‘w***er’ Tyson Fury and says he has ‘f***ed’ the heavyweight division

DILLIAN WHYTE launched a sensational attack on “w***er” Tyson Fury by claiming he has “f***ed the entire heavyweight boxing scene”.Fury’s camp say he caught coronavirus, leading to his July 24 fight with the Deontay Wilder getting pushed back to October 9.

He says the Gypsy King has ‘f***** the entire heavyweight’ divisionCredit: Rex
Fury has refused to comment and been photographed mixing with fans in Las Vegas within a week of initial reports that there was an outbreak in his team.
Whyte, the leading mandatory challenger for Fury’s WBC belt, raged to SunSport: “Tyson Fury is a w***er and a disgrace to British boxing if he has caught Covid-19 and gone around Las Vegas mixing with fans after cancelling the Deontay Wilder fight.
“He talks s*** because when you have Covid-19 you are sick and you have to quarantine and instead he is walking around smiling, mixing and taking photos with people.
“Either he has got it or he hasn’t – they said his mate and sparring partner Joseph Parker had it and the next minute he’s out at a UFC fight denying it.
“There are videos and photos of him out and about, happy as Larry, just like he was when the Anthony Joshua fight got cancelled.
“The biggest fight in British boxing history was cancelled and he was laughing and joking about it.
“It is exactly the same now the Wilder fight has been cancelled because of him apparently having covid.
“Loads of boxers are using Covid as an excuse to pull-out of fights or as a back-up excuse if they lose.
“These guys are irresponsible if they are using Covid when it is killing people and devastating families all over the world.”
    ‘DYING ON IT’S A***’
British fight fans were dealt a bitter blow when a massive showdown between Fury and Anthony Joshua was KO’d after Wilder won his legal battle for a trilogy scrap with the Gypsy King.
But with no Brits allowed to travel to America for Fury vs Wilder 3 and BT Sport failing to announce the broadcast, interest has been minimal.
Fuming Whyte added: “Fury knew that this fight was dying on its a*** and pulled out.
“They couldn’t give a ticket away as Brits were not travelling and none of the TV companies were bothered about another 5am fight against a bloke he has already beaten.
“Money is everything to Fury. Where is that £7million he supposedly donated to the homeless charities after the first Wilder fight? Tyson Fury talks a lot of s*** and people sadly lap it up.”
“Tyson Fury has f***ed the entire heavyweight boxing scene all around the world and the whole sport is struggling because of it.
“When the heavyweights are buzzing the whole sport thrives and when it’s rubbish the whole sport suffers.
“Losing the AJ vs Fury fight has f***ed boxing because casual fans just see big fights not happening and people at the top lying to them or fighting bums instead.
    ‘NASTY PIECE OF WORK’
“Fury is a nasty piece of work and his biggest skill is conning the public because they always end up feeling sorry for him.
“Boxing is a joke right now, every other sport is getting attention, and it’s because he has now f***ed two or three of the biggest fights around.”
Fury, 32, has not fought since his seventh-round KO of American Wilder in February of last year.
It has angered Whyte, who spent more than 1,000 days as mandatory challenger waiting for a shot at Fury’s WBC belt.
And the postponement of AJ v Fury means that they heavyweight division’s 21-year wait goes on to anoint its first undisputed heavyweight king since Lennox Lewis.
AJ holds the division’s other WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles.
And ‘Body Snatcher’ Whyte has a three-fight plan to ensure a single heavyweight ruler.
    ‘CRIMINAL’
He said: “If Fury fights in October then he will have been out of the ring, not defending the WBC heavyweight title for 20 months – almost two years – that is criminal.
“He messed me around when ordered by the WBC to fight me for the diamond belt he asked for.
“He messed Joshua around on the undisputed fight and now he has messed Wilder around on their rematch.
“The WBC is a prestigious belt and I don’t understand how they can tolerate this guy taking the p*** with their biggest belt.
“It will have only been fought for five times in the last four years, against three different opponents. Enough is enough.
“Fury should be made champion in recess, elevate me from interim champion to champion and I will fight Wilder straight away.
COMPETITION: SPOT THE BALL TO WIN A CAR AND CASH

“If and when Fury is ever ready to fight he can fight the winner – which will be me – and then the winner of that, the rightful WBC champion, can fight AJ for all the belts.
“In three simple fights you would know the real No1 undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. All this nonsense has to stop.
Fury’s management team MTK Global refused to comment when approached by SunSport.

Ex-UFC star Tyron Woodley reveals four-fight boxing plan including Jake Paul twice, Oscar De La Hoya and ‘a current guy’

TYRON WOODLEY has revealed his four-fight boxing plan including Jake Paul twice, Oscar De La Hoya and ‘a current guy’. The former UFC champion faces Paul on Sunday, August 29 in what will be his boxing debut.

But Woodley – who made four MMA title defences from 2016-2018 – is now eyeing a stay in the boxing business having left the UFC this year.
His fight with Paul includes a rematch clause if the YouTuber is beaten – and a bet with the loser getting ‘I love’ the winner tattooed on them.
It means Woodley expects a double header with the social media star – but then he wants to face the returning De La Hoya, 47.
He said: “I want to pay respect to the sport. I would like to fight an OG, a veteran, somebody that’s been in the sport for a long time.
“De La Hoya’s name got thrown around a little bit. To enter into somebody’s sport, I think you’ve got to do it in a respectful way.
“I think we’re fighting a seasoned veteran first, and then maybe fighting a current stud. I think that’s the way you get the respect.
“I’ll fight (Paul) probably a couple of times, because he’s going to be walking around with a ‘I love Tyron Woodley’ tattoo on his body.
“So you might as well try and get it back – try and get a chance to redeem yourself. So we’re probably going to fight a couple of times.
“He added the no competition – who does that when they’re confident?

“I really believe that fighting him a few times, fighting an OG in the boxing game, and fighting a current guy, there’s no way you can’t respect me now.
    “Put those four fights together.”
Woodley, 39, walked out on the UFC after four straight losses, and was without a win in three years.
But he is now committed to a future in boxing, and spent time training with Floyd Mayweather, 44, ahead of his grudge match with Paul, 24.
Woodley said: “I’m in boxing now. I’m here, and you’re going to have this microphone by my face a lot because I ain’t going nowhere.
How Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley compare ahead of their boxing match
“I’m going to be fighting real boxers, and they’re going to have a problem to deal with – and it’s going to be me.
“At the end of the day, I’m in boxing right now. He’s my first opponent. This is your and everybody else’s first chance to watch me box.
“I’m in boxing – there’s no ifs. I’m at the ‘know’ level right now.
“Yes, I will win. I will knock him out. I am in boxing.”

Logan Paul says brother Jake’s chances of fighting Conor McGregor have been ‘watered down’ because of UFC star’s injury

LOGAN PAUL admitted his brother Jake’s chances of fighting Conor McGregor have been ‘watered down’ after the Irishman’s horror injury. The Pauls were cageside at UFC 264 in Las Vegas when McGregor broke his tibia at the end of round one against Dustin Poirier – meaning he lost the trilogy bout by doctor stoppage and was later handed a six month medical suspension.

The younger Paul, Jake, 24, has continued to chase a fight with McGregor, who underwent surgery and will now be on crutches for six weeks.
But even Logan, 26, conceded the YouTube star has little chance of persuading the southpaw into the ring any time soon.
He said on his podcast: “I think obviously now, Jake’s plans for fighting Conor have been a little watered down because of the whole missing ankle thing.
“You got no leg. No leg, no contract.”
McGregor, 33, first beat Poirier, 32, in 2014 but was knocked out when they rematched in January.
Beforehand, Paul had offered the former two-weight UFC champion $50million to fight him.
But after McGregor was stretchered out of the octagon in the trilogy, the deal was cut to just $23.
Paul had spent $100,000 on a ‘sleepy’ diamond McGregor chain, which he then sent off to Poirier, who plans to auction it for charity.
The American is open to a FOURTH fight with his lightweight rival after the unprecedented ending to their trilogy decider.
McGregor also continued to threaten Poirier’s life after the loss and goaded that his wife Jolie was messaging him on Instagram.

It left even prankster Paul – who once mocked McGregor’s fiancee Dee Devlin – feeling no sympathy for the richest sportsman in the world.
He said: “He’s a piece of s**t. He’s sitting there on the ground after losing, talking s**t to Dustin Poirier’s wife.
“I don’t feel bad at all. I think he deserves it. I think it’s hilarious. I hope he (Poirier) takes a picture with it (the necklace) and posts it on Instagram.
“I just love to see McGregor plummet. He was a meteoric star that’s now just taking a nosedive.
“Before I wanted to fight him and I offered him $50 million, now my offer is $23.”

Anthony Joshua looks jacked in latest training pics as bulked-up Brit prepares for Oleksandr Usyk fight

ANTHONY JOSHUA already looks in peak condition having started training camp to fight Oleksandr Usyk. The unified heavyweight champion defends his titles against mandatory challenger Usyk in September, expected to be at Tottenham’s stadium.

AJ had spent some time holidaying in Spain but continued to train, even trying his hand at MMA.
But the fun appears to have stopped for Joshua, who looked like a mean machine in his latest Instagram post, where he is lifting a weight.
Former boxer Ashley Theophane, 40, commented: “#Beastmode NO PAIN. NO GAIN.”
Kal Yafai, 32, wrote: “Man like femi!!!”
Brother Gamal Yafai, 29, followed up: “Beast!!”
Former sparring partner Peter Kadiru, 24, said: “The champ is here.”
Joshua, 31, has not fought since beating Kubrat Pulev, 40, in December by ninth-round knockout.
AJ was ordered by the WBO to face Usyk, 34, after his unification with Tyson Fury collapsed.

The Brits had agreed terms for a first-ever, four-belt heavyweight undisputed title decider.
But Fury, 32, had tried to walk away from a contracted trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder, 35, who took the dispute to arbitration.
Wilder was later awarded the right to fight his heavyweight rival again, setting up a second rematch on July 24 in Las Vegas.
But it has now been postponed till October 9, after Fury and other members of his training team tested positive for coronavirus.

Logan Paul reveals shock personal phone call from Dana White despite UFC boss’ ‘ongoing feud’ with brother Jake

LOGAN PAUL revealed his shock personal phone call from Dana White – despite the UFC president’s ‘ongoing feud’ with his brother Jake. The YouTuber had White’s number saved having been in a celebrity group chat with him for betting on the Kentucky Derby horse racing festival.

So he did not know quite what to think when the UFC boss phoned him up amid being in a feud with his younger brother Jake.
But to Logan’s surprise, White was offering him even better cageside seats for UFC 264, which was headlined by Conor McGregor.
He said on his podcast: “I answer, and I’m not sure what to expect. Jake’s p***ed him off, him and Jake have an ongoing feud.
“But I’ve come out publicly and said I love Dana White, always have always will, he’s a ruthless businessman, the head honcho, but I’m not sure how he feels about me.
“By default, my relationship with my brother will always take precedence but if I can be cool with someone I will.
“So he calls me up and says, ‘Hey man, is this Logan?’, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, what’s up Dana’, and he explains that we’ve got two tickets, but he says he has better ones.
“These seats are in what’s called ‘billionaire’s row’, and he says I’ll have a much better experience, and I’m like flabbergasted and honoured.
“Dana White is accommodating me, this is fantastic, and I’m like ‘sure’, I told him ‘thanks Dana,’ and I hung up and Jake is like ‘that was weird’.”

Jake, 24, has campaigned against White, 51, believing he does not pay his UFC fighters enough.
But Logan, 26, is a big fan of the promoter and even wants to make a transition to the cage after wrestling in high-school.
He has currently boxed three times before, drawing and losing to online rival KSI, 28, before then facing boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather, 44, was taken the full eight-round distance in their exhibition without scoring a knockout, meaning no winner was declared.
Jake meanwhile is 3-0 in his career, all by KO, and faces ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, next on Sunday, August 29.
He has so far only beaten KSI’s friend ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinsion, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 36.
But despite the limited opposition, he has continued to chase a fight with McGregor, 33, and was cageside with Logan in Las Vegas.
And he watched as the Irishman suffered a horror leg break in his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier, 32, losing by doctor stoppage at the end of round one.
    ‘NO LEG, NO CONTRACT’
Jake attended to drum up interest in facing McGregor, but remained largely unnoticed due to the bucket hat he wore.
Logan said: “When I walked in, I said to one of the UFC reps, ‘Hey, is my brother here?’ And she looks at me and she turned white.
“She goes, ‘You brother’s coming?’ I go, ‘I don’t know.’ She goes, ‘F***.’ And I go, ‘I don’t think he’s got anything planned.’
“He came in with a bucket hat and we were surely expecting like a ‘f**k Jake Paul’ chant but no one could see him because he wore a bucket hat.
“And because of that, no attention was drawn to him and he didn’t really get to show off the chain at the event and he really get the chance to distract Conor like he wanted to.
“And I think obviously now, Jake’s plans for fighting Conor have been a little watered down because of the whole missing ankle thing.
“You got no leg. No leg, no contract.”

Watch Anthony Joshua ‘floor’ ex-UFC star with jumping knee as he takes leaf out of Tyson Fury’s book during MMA training

ANTHONY JOSHUA showed off his MMA-style flying knee while training with former UFC middleweight Luke Barnatt. The unified heavyweight champion is currently holidaying in Spain before returning to his training camp back home for his defence agains Oleksandr Usyk.
Anthony Joshua showed off his flying knee while enjoying some MMA training
Anthony Joshua training with ex-UFC middleweight Luke Barnatt
But despite the getaway, AJ is still staying active by visiting Barnatt’s gym Marbella.
He uploaded a video hitting the pads with one of his coaches, Angel Fernandez, as they prepare to fight Usyk in September.
However, Joshua, 31, then switched it up by trying his hand at MMA, getting a striking masterclass from Barnatt, who last fought in December 2020.
AJ drilled kicks, one-two’s and most impressively flying knees, one of which Barnatt pretended knocked him out.
Joshua is not the only heavyweight boxer to have had MMA training, with Tyson Fury linking up with UFC middleweight Darren Till in 2019.
Fury once claimed he would entertain a switch to the UFC but only after retiring from boxing.
But more recently, he changed his mind and revealed he would only be up for fighting in smaller gloves, without any grappling involved.
Fury told talkSPORT: “No, I’ve got no real interest in grappling up and down on the floor and all that sort of stuff.

“I’m a stand-up fighting man, I don’t wrestle up and down and grab each other’s arms and sit on each other and all that.
“I’ve no interest in all that stuff – I like to stand up and fight so would I ever compete as an MMA fighter? Hell no!
“Would I compete with small gloves on in a cage in a fight? Yes. But no gripping and grappling.
“The noble art of standing up and what men have been doing for centuries. I don’t see any noble science in wrestling up and down the floor.”
UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, 34, has called out both Joshua and Fury before, having eyed a boxing career before his MMA debut.
He was even linked with a two-fight deal against ex-kickboxer Dillian Whyte who won his only MMA fight, in 2018.

Mike Tyson accused of refusing to fight Shannon Briggs with former boxing champ in talks with UFC icon Rampage Jackson

SHANNON BRIGGS is in talks to fight UFC legend Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson after accusing Mike Tyson of not wanting to fight him. Former heavyweight champion Briggs, who has been out the ring since 2016, has been on the comeback trail since early 2020.

It came after Tyson, 55, announced plans to make a return and did so last November in an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr, 52, which ended in a draw.
Briggs, 49, is still searching for an opponent with Evander Holyfield, 48, and Wladimir Klitschko, 45, also uninterested – but remains confident in fighting Rampage.
He told DAZN Boxing: “One hundred percent it’s gonna happen and he said he ain’t backing out.
“I told his manager. They said ain’t backing out, they said they wouldn’t — he always wanted to try boxing.
“He said that he’s always been the guy, he said he came to the MMA game, right to the top, going on the same thing he said he wanted to do in boxing.
“So you know me — me and him is a perfect match made and I finally got it desperately.”
“Mike Tyson,Holyfield, all of them, Klitschko – none of them. None of them will fight me.”
Jackson won the UFC light-heavyweight title in 2007 and went on to have six more years with the promotion before leaving for Bellator.

In his nine fights since, he returned to the UFC just once, and fought as high as heavyweight.
But his last was disastrous as he was knocked out by Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko, 44, and later admitted he ‘felt like a hippopotamus’.
The American has always eyed a switch to boxing and formerly sparred world title contender Dillian Whyte, 32, when he trained in England.
Jackson and Briggs have continued to trade words on social media ahead of their proposed fight.
Rampage, 43, posted: “I’m not sure if @cannon_briggs thinks im a easy fight because I’ve never boxed before or if he just misses getting his ass kicked.
“Either way I’m bout it. Just letting ya know champ I ain’t scared, tell yo peoples to make it happen.”
