Eddie Hearn says Tyson Fury’s promoter Bob Arum is talking ‘b*****s’ about hosting Anthony Joshua fight in UK

EDDIE HEARN accused Bob Arum of talking ‘b*****s’ about wanting Tyson Fury to fight Anthony Joshua in the UK. Hearn saw months of talks for the undisputed title decider on August 14 go up in smoke as it was scrapped at the 11th hour.

Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum recently called for the potential fight to instead be held in Britain, should negotiations pick up again.
Arum told Sky Sports: “My hope is that the fight goes to the UK. I don’t care what the money is.
“Both fighters owe the UK fans this tremendous event at Wembley or Cardiff, rather than taking it to a foreign country.”
But in an interview with IFL TV, Joshua’s promoter Hearn hit back and said: “Do you honestly think that Bob Arum would do the fight in the UK for half the money that was available elsewhere?
“Honestly, ask yourself that question. I’ve never heard so much b******* in my whole life, ‘oh let’s do it in the UK, the UK deserves it man! I don’t see a problem making the fight’.
“Yeah because it’s been smooth as you like so far hasn’t it?”
    ‘IT’S WAFFLE’
Fury, 32, had tried to walk away from his contracted trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder, believing the stipulation expired, to fight AJ instead.
Wilder, 35, then took his case to arbitration and was awarded the verdict, setting up a second rematch between the pair on October 9.
Meanwhile, Joshua faces Oleksandr Usyk, 34, on September 25, having been ordered by the WBO to do so.
Should the Brit pair both prevail, Hearn has previously stated February could be a likely option for the two to finally fight.
And he taunted whether Arum will really be willing to snub more lucrative options to instead take the Battle of Britain back home.

Hearn said: “I don’t even think that he’s intentionally lying. I just think that it’s waffle.
“But when the money comes through, what I’ll do is I’ll say ‘Bob, I saw your quote where you said you want this fight.’
“So as long as his man is ready to take half the money, which means half of his commission, I’ll ask him ‘are you good with that, yeah?’ We’ll see.”

NBA legend Lamar Odom, 41, to fight Riddick Bowe, 53, in bizarre celebrity bout with Paulie Malignaggi on undercard

He won his three return fights, the last of which in 2008, before hanging up the gloves again but did lose in his kickboxing debut in 2013.
Odom, who retired from basketball in 2014, recently won a scrappy exhibition against pop singer Aaron Carter, 33.
It was under the Celebrity Boxing banner headed up by Damon Feldman, the brother of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship owner David.
And Feldman told TMZ Sport that he has signed up Odom, 41, and Bowe, 53, to fight on October 2 in Miami, Florida.
On the undercard, Also, Paulie Malignaggi will face social star Corey B, after months of the pair feuding online.
Malignaggi, who provided commentary for Odom’s weird win over Carter, had chalk thrown over him by Corey B while ringside.
And that has somehow led to the duo fighting on the undercard of Bowe’s comeback.
That is despite Malignaggi’s career as a former two-weight champ, while Corey B has never boxed before in his life.

Bowe will be the latest boxing legend to have returned to the ring, following the likes of Mike Tyson, 55, and Oscar De La Hoya, 48.
Tyson drew in an eight-round exhibition with Roy Jones Jr, 52, in November, his first fight in 15 years, and inspired Bowe as well as Evander Holyfield, 58, to start training again.
De La Hoya – battered into retirement by Manny Pacquiao in 2009 – returns on September 11 against ex-UFC champion Vitor Belfort, 44, in a professional bout.

Fury will fight Deontay Wilder on October 9
That will now take place on October 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
And Fury is back in the gym as he attempts to get back into his training routine.
His promoter Frank Warren shared a clip of Fury lifting weights.
It was captioned: “The world’s best heavyweight @gypsyking101 in the gym this morning.”
Meanwhile Fury’s promoter Bob Arum has described the postponement of the Wilder trilogy fight as ‘a complete f*** up’.
Speaking to World Boxing News, the 89-year-old said: “I never knew that he hadn’t [got the second one] until he got sick.
“I really screamed at all of them. It was a complete f*** up. The people in the gym, I mean, we had no controls. It was like every sparring partner brought his friend, other corner people.
“[Trainer] SugarHill [Steward] had these Russians [he trains] running around. There was absolutely no precaution taken, which a lot of it was our fault.

Arum went on to add that he does not know if Fury has had his second vaccine shot yet.
But the legendary American promoter went on to praise Wilder and his team for how they protected themselves against Covid-19.
He added: “They did the right thing, and they’re to be commended, and we didn’t do the right thing.

Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant ‘100 per cent dead’ as negotiations falter and Mexican moves on to Dimitry Bivol fight

CANELO ALVAREZ’S undisputed super-middleweight title clash against Caleb Plant is reportedly ‘100 per cent dead’.The Mexican’s team have been in negotiations to fight the only other boxer with a world title in that weight.
Canelo Alvarez will reportedly NOT fight Caleb Plant nextCredit: AP
But an agreement has failed to be reached, with ESPN reporting that both parties have gone their separate ways.
Canelo could now step back up to light-heavyweight to fight WBA king Dmitry Bivol.
But Plant is fuming at the collapse of his biggest fight to date.
He told ESPN: “His bark is bigger than his bite.
“Canelo was offered the highest guarantee of his career: He was set to make $40 million plus Mexican TV rights and his Hennessy sponsorship.
“No problem, let’s fight. We gave it to him. Then they wanted upside of gate and PPV revenue; no problem, let’s rumble.”
But Plant says that ‘ridiculous requests’ led to the fight being scrapped – one of which was that if Plant got ill or injured Canelo would get a replacement for the same money, but if it was the other way around Plant would have to wait.
He added: “We’re at seven-and-a-half weeks from the fight; we’ve lost valuable time that should be spent promoting and drug testing for a fight of this magnitude.
“I question whether legacy or money is their real motive.
“We’ve been waiting for him to get done with his wedding, shooting his TV show, his golf tournament and now have tried to give him everything he wants and more to make this fight.
“I’m more than willing, able and ready to fight Canelo Alvarez on any date. Those are the real facts and if anyone has something to say differently, we have the paperwork to prove it.”

Alvarez previously announced that he aims to have four fights this year.
He stopped Turkey’s mandatory WBC contender Avni Yildirim after knocking him down in the third round back in February.
Then in May he thrilled a sold-out crowd in Texas at the AT&T Stadium when he beat then-WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders.
The Englishman suffered a broken orbital bone in the eighth round that forced his corner to throw in the towel ahead of the ninth.

The Gypsy King had only had one vaccine jab before getting the disease.
Fury will now defend his WBC heavyweight belt against Wilder on October 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
But Arum is not a happy man and revealed he was led to believe Fury had been given his two vaccine shots.

He added: “They did the right thing, and they’re to be commended, and we didn’t do the right thing.
“We were operating in the haze that the pandemic was over.”
Fury’s third fight against Wilder put the brakes on his ‘Battle of Britain’ against Anthony Joshua.
That was pencilled in for this summer, but AJ will now face Oleksandr Usyk instead on September 25.
Meanwhile Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has dismissed suggestions talks over an undisputed heavyweight title fight between the two Brits have resumed.
The Matchroom Boxing chief told iFL TV: “Someone said, ‘When do you think that fight will happen when it happens?’”
“I’m giving you what you want, clickbait. Let’s deal with Oleksandr Usyk.
“That’s the focus, that fight [Anthony Joshua vs Usyk], and then we worry about the rest after.
“I didn’t say there were any talks [between Joshua and Fury].
“I said if that fight was to happen, I guess that’s the time that it would happen. It is [a formidable task for Joshua facing Usyk].”

HEARTBROKEN Conor Benn has lost his Saturday night fight with Adrian Granados after being hit with covid-19.The 24-year-old son of British ring legend Nigel was set to headline the first of Eddie Hearn’s three back garden Fight Camp shows of 2021.

But the red-hot welterweight failed a test in the Brentwood bubble and has had to withdraw from the show and isolate.
The gutted 18-0 ace said: “Dear all of my supporters and fans that bought tickets to my fight, it breaks my heart to tell you unfortunately I won’t be competing this Saturday as I have tested positive for Covid-19.
“I have made sure during this camp that we have taken the correct precautions and abided by the highest health and safety measures to avoid this unfortunate circumstance but with the virus still being extremely active this is out of my control.
“I will be working with my management team, Matchroom Boxing and liaising with Granados to work towards a new date.
“It’s imperative that I get back to full health, isolate and stay safe during this period as I aim to be competing again in the very near future. I will keep you all updated as much as I can.
“Finally my sincerest apologies to everyone who worked hard to put this event together and Adrian who recently flew over to the UK to put on a good fight, soon come.”
Benn’s headline slot has gone to Nottingham featherweight Leigh Wood who is fighting Chinese champion Can Xu.

The timing of the virus is particularly crushing for Benn as he is one of the country’s most rapidly improving and in-form fighters.
The father-of-one outboxed respected Sebastian Formella in November over 12 one-sided rounds to impress boxing purists.

Granados, who has lost to both Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia before, is likely to be Benn’s next experienced scalp.
But the 24-year-old can’t be too complacent, or he’ll be risking the potential to be Britain’s next big star in boxing.
    When is Benn vs Granados?

Benn’s big clash with the tough Granados will take place on Saturday, July 31.
The fight will take place in Brentwood, Essex at Matchroom HQ in the back garden.
There will be around 300 fans in attendance at the bout, with those supporters having shelled out £750 each for a ticket.

What channel is it and can it be live streamed?

For the first time ever, a boxing event held in the UK will be shown on DAZN, which launched in Great Britain back in January.
Promoter Eddie Hearn and Matchroom left Sky Sports joined up with DAZN UK on a five-year multi-million pound deal.
The action will begin on DAZN from 7pm UK time, with the main event expected at around 10.30pm UK time.
You can live stream the event from the DAZN app, which is available for download onto your mobile device, tablet or Smart TV.

    What have they said?
“Do I believe I can win a world title? 100 per cent,” Benn has said.
“There will always be critics. There will always be naysayers. It’s impossible for them because that’s their mindset. That’s why they sit on social media projecting their faults.
“I don’t think anything is impossible. If I wanted to switch and do whatever it is — it could be absolutely anything — I’ll make it successful. It’s not just boxing. It’s my mindset, it’s what I do.
“I’ve had a target on my back ever since I turned pro because my dad is Nigel Benn. It’s as simple as that. ‘The Dark Destroyer,’ the legend.
“People like to call me silver spoon, but I’ve chosen the hardest sport in the world. I don’t have to be here. I have everything to lose.
