Tyson Fury claims he’s ‘just got off the phone with Donald Trump’ after surprise call from former US President

TYSON FURY claims he got a surprise phone call for former US president – and fan – Donald Trump. Trump is a fighting nut and invited Fury to the White House after his dramatic rematch win over Deontay Wilder last year.

The start of the Covid-19 pandemic halted any plans for an official visit by the unbeaten star.
But, according to the Gypsy King, the pair have made up for lost time with a chat over the blower.
Fury posted an Instagram Story which said: “Just got off the phone with Donald Trump.
“What a nice surprise from my pal Hughie Vuitton. Thanks boys enjoy your lunch guys.”
It is not the first time Trump has crossed over into the world of sport with the avid golfer playing a practice round with Rory McIlroy during his presidency.
And the 75-year-old may even be in attendance when Fury takes on Wilder once again in their delayed trilogy bout in October.

The bout was initially set for July 24 but was postponed after a Covid outbreak in the champ Fury’s camp.
Fury, 32, has not been in action since his stunning stoppage win over Wilder in Las Vegas last year.
And hopes of a huge unification fight with Anthony Joshua were scuppered after Wilder was ruled to have the right to a trilogy fight with Fury by an arbitration judge.

Manny Pacquiao has ‘no interest’ in facing UFC star Conor McGregor after Errol Spence Jr fight, says Freddie Roach

MANNY PACQUIAO has ‘no interest’ in facing Conor McGregor after fighting Errol Spence Jr, his long-time coach Freddie Roach has said. Pacquiao was last year in talks with former two-weight UFC champion McGregor, who lost his boxing debut to Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
Freddie Roach on the pads with Manny Pacquiao in 2019
Conor McGregor during his trilogy bout with Dustin PoirierCredit: Getty
But after the Irishman was knocked out in his rematch with Dustin Poirier – the man he beat in 2014 – it shelved the crossover fight.
McGregor, 33, later lost his trilogy bout with Poirier, 32, by doctor stoppage after suffering a horror leg break seconds before round one ended.
All while PacMan, 42, signed to fight unbeaten welterweight champ Spence, 31, set for August 21 in Las Vegas.
And afterwards talk of Pacquiao and McGregor boxing should be a thing of the past, if Hall of Fame trainer Roach had it his way.
He told SunSport: “That sport is a little bit different, it’s just not boxing.
“Manny does not have any interest in fighting an MMA fighter, he wants to fight the best fighters out there.
    ‘NOT GOING TO BE McGREGOR’
“If he can’t be at that level at boxing, then he doesn’t want to be boxing. He will retire and hopefully become president of his country.
“If there is another fight after this it’s not going to be McGregor, it’s going to be one of the best guys out there.
“It’s not going to be a guy from another sport. Manny and Georges St-Pierre are friends and so forth but the sports just do not match up well together.
“I want to see good boxing and that’s what you get from Manny Pacquiao. He’s always fought the best out there.”
Pacquiao will have been out the ring for over two years by the time he makes his return against Spence.
He has not fought since July 2019, when he beat Keith Thurman, 32, to win the WBA title.
‘COUPLE OF GUYS I WORRY ABOUT’
Despite the extensive layoff amid the coronavirus pandemic, which saw him stripped of the belt, PacMan wanted only to challenge the best in the boxing business.
And that led to talks with Spence, the unified WBC and IBF king, and undefeated Terence Crawford, 33, also a pound-for-pound star.
With the Filipino great showing no signs of slowing down, Roach is well aware of the dangers potentially ahead.
And that all starts with Spence, who is 27-0 with 21 knockouts, leaving Pacquiao ordered to fight to a strict game plan.
Roach said: “There’s a couple of guys I worry about, because they’re younger, they’re stronger and have very difficult styles.
“But Spence, I do like because he’s flat-footed, he’s heavy on his feet and he gets tired in the latter rounds.

Deontay Wilder’s sparring partner warns Tyson Fury NOT to weigh 300lb and says Gypsy King was ‘perfect’ size in rematch

TYSON FURY has been told NOT to weigh 300lb by Deontay Wilder’s own sparring partner. Fury, who scaled 270lb before he dethroned the American in February 2020, warned he would put on another stone for their trilogy bout.

But heavyweight contender Stephan Shaw, who spent two weeks in camp with Wilder, believes the Brit was the ‘perfect’ size in the rematch last year.
And he argued against Fury, 32, bulking up even further but urged Wilder, 35, to bring the fight to his rival and snatch back the WBC belt.
Shaw, 28, told SunSport: “I don’t feel like Tyson Fury should come into the fight 300-pounds, he was perfect at 275, not 300.
“That will take away from some of the athleticism that he does have. But, I’d take the fight right to him.
“I’d take the fight like he approached it, try and make the best adjustments, because at that level when you have two elite guys in there, it’s all about adjustments.
“Who can make those adjustments? The other guy might come out with a better jab, so I’d have to make the adjustments to get away from that jab.
“You have to be ready to make adjustments, because Tyson Fury, he might not be the most skilled fighter but he’s big, he’s kind of awkward and he’s a smart fighter.
“He’s a great thinker in there and especially with the minds of Sugarhill added to his team, that’s only going to make him even better, like he did in the second fight.”
    ‘BUILDING MY WEIGHT UP’
Fury weighed only 256.5lb before he outboxed but was twice dropped by Wilder in their eventual 2018 draw.
But after he ditched his back-foot tactics, to instead walk the Bronze Bomber down in the rematch, he did so almost a stone heavier.
Fury scored two knockdowns before the one-sided beating ended in round seven.
And in the build-up to their scheduled July 24 trilogy bout – now postponed to October 9 after the Gypsy King caught coronavirus – he promised to continue piling on the pounds.
Fury said: “I anticipate it’s going to be like an 18-wheeler running over somebody, and that’s what you’re gonna see.
“I’m building my weight up, trying to get up to 300lbs for this fight. Because I’m looking for a big knockout straight away.”
Before the trilogy was rescheduled, 6ft 4in Shaw, unbeaten at 14-0, had once again provided Wilder with Fury-replica sparring.
He was used in the training camp before the first two Fury fights, and has also sparred the likes of Andy Ruiz Jr, 31, and Dominic Breazeale, 35.

Shaw said: “From going with Andy Ruiz or Deontay Wilder, it shows me what I want in my camp or what I don’t want, how to construct it.
“Going down there with Deontay, it definitely let me know how to conduct myself as a world champion.
“It shows me how a training camp from a world champion’s perspective is run. How they conduct everything.”

Deontay Wilder’s coach blasts ‘irresponsible’ Tyson Fury for not getting second Covid vaccine and delaying trilogy fight

DEONTAY WILDER’s coach Malik Scott has branded Tyson Fury ‘irresponsible’ for not getting his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccination. The third instalment of Fury vs Wilder was due to take place in Las Vegas last month but was delayed when The Gypsy King caught Covid.

It later transpired that Fury, 32, had only had one dose of the vaccine as he was concerned about the effects of taking the second so close to the fight.
Scott was seething when he heard the news, saying during an appearance on The PBC Podcast: “So I heard he took one vaccine shot and he didn’t take another one.
“That’s the most [irresponsible] thing to me for him to do because you’re fighting Deontay Wilder.”
According to Scott, Wilder was sceptical about taking the vaccine but changed his stance to ensure the fight went ahead.
He added: “Deontay was someone who was totally against the vaccine but for the love of the sport and for the love of the fans and for the love of him trying to get payback and the title back and to redeem himself.
“Not only did he take it, but he made sure we all [got vaccinated]…We all had to do what he had to do for this.”
Promoter Bob Arum recently revealed Fury is happy to be fully vaccinated before his third clash with The Bronze Bomber, which has been rescheduled for October.
But Scott believes the WBC champion has already let a number of people down with his actions.
That’s the most [irresponsible] thing to me for him to do because you’re fighting Deontay Wilder.Malik Scott on Tyson Fury only having one Covid Vaccination
“Even though him and Deontay have these issue and can’t wait to hurt each other and Deontay wanting to decapitate him and all kind of stuff, there still should be a mutual respect and responsibility of each fighter to do your part in making it to the ring on the night of the fight.
“Now you have to be unselfish. Because now you have fans [making sacrifices] in terms of coming to support and their finances. What about the guys on the undercard?
“What about their fans who paid for tickets and flights and everything? What about the consumers that bought the pay-per-view?
“What about the promoters? The managers? Just everything.”
Fury and Wilder will renew their rivalry on October 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Fan favourite Fury got the better of the American in their Sin City rematch last February, knocking him out in the seventh round to claim the WBC crown.
And he’s vowed to turn in an even better performance third time around, saying: “I gave my game plan away the first time because he wasn’t good enough to do anything about it.
“And I’ll do the same thing this time because he’s not good enough to do anything about it.

“Deontay Wilder is a one-trick pony. He’s got one-punch power, we all know that – great.
“But what I’m going to do to Deontay Wilder this time is I’m going to run him over as if I’m an 18-wheeler and he’s a human being.
“I guarantee he does not go past where he did before [the seventh round].”

Wladimir Klitschko was knocked out by Anthony Joshua after brother Vitali told him not to go in for the kill

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO was KO’d by Anthony Joshua four years ago because brother Vitali allowed “emotion” to rule his head. That’s according to lead trainer Johnathon Banks, who was in the Ukrainian’s corner that night.
Wladimir Klitschko came close to sensationally stopping Anthony Joshua back in 2017
Back in 2017 AJ became unified heavyweight champ with a stunning 11th-round KO of Wladimir in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley.
But the Brit came close to being sensationally stopped himself, only the bell saving him after being floored in the sixth round.
After the fight Vitali, who is now a politician in his native Kiev, took the blame for telling his boxing brother to be cautious despite almost getting his opponent out of there.
    VITALI ACCEPTS BLAME
The former heavyweight champ said afterwards: “When Wladimir almost knocked Joshua out, I gave him the wrong advice.
“I was positive that Joshua, with his huge muscle mass, would not be able to last [the distance].
“I advised Wladimir not to rush anything. I had hoped that after the seventh, the eighth round… Joshua would really slow down.
“Now I think that maybe it was a mistake, maybe it was necessary to finish him off sooner.”
But speaking to Sky Sports, Banks does not blame Vitali as he believes brotherly love can sometimes prove too strong.
    BROTHERLY LOVE
The 38-year-old said: “I understood Vitali say that in Russian. I jumped up! The security guards told me to sit down but I was shouting: ‘Finish him, finish him!’
“I knew Vitali’s voice would reign supreme over mine. I tried my best to override.
“I’ve got brothers too and we’re very close. If someone questions my brother, my initial thought is to defend my brother. I accept it and we move on.
“You’ve got to understand that to Vitali, it wasn’t a mistake. His job is to protect his little brother. His emotion clouded the business.”
There were talks of a rematch, but Wladimir opted agaisnt Part II and retired from boxing.
Joshua of course went on to pick up another world title belt when he outpointed Joseph Parker, before shockingly losing them all to Andy Ruiz Jr.
He did easily outpoint the Mexican in a rematch six months later.

UFC legend Khabib says Tyson Fury is the ‘best’ boxer in the world and urges Joshua vs Usyk winner to face Gyspy King

WBC KING Tyson Fury is the best boxer in the world, according to former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.Fury returned to the summit of the sport last February with a sensational seventh-round TKO victory over Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas.

The Gypsy King’s Sin City’ masterclass led many to declare him the pound-for-pound king.
Nurmagomedov agrees with that notion, telling ES News: “Right now? I truly believe Tyson Fury is the best.
“Heavyweight and undefeated and he beat everybody.
“Like very close, like Canelo [Alvarez], [Oleksandr] Usyk, [Terence] Crawford, like all these guys very close.
“Like just my opinion like top like Tyson Fury right now.”
Fan favourite Fury, 32, will meet Wilder in a Sin City trilogy fight on October 9.
A blockbuster undisputed heavyweight title bout with Anthony Joshua awaits the Wythenshawe warrior should he beat The Bronze Bomber and AJ win his September showdown with Usyk.
I believe Tyson Fury is the best.Khabib Nurmagomeov
And like most boxing fans, Nurmagomedov is eager to see the long-awaited Battle of Britain come to fruition.
He continued: “I know, I know. Like winner, they have to fight versus Tyson Fury-Wilder winner.
“Like a semifinal. But right now, I believe Tyson Fury is the best.”
The third instalment of Fury vs Wilder was due to take place in Las Vegas earlier this month but was delayed after the former caught Covid-19.
And promoter Eddie Hearn plans to pit Joshua and Fury against one another early next year should they come through their respective outings unscathed.
The Matchroom Boxing chief told iFL TV: “I think that was pretty much the case anyway.
“But fighting September 25, it’s very difficult to do a fight in December.

“And a lot of our conversations now about the undisputed fight are end of Jan, February.

Can was unbeaten since 2014 but the British 9st champion dominated him with rasping uppercuts and crunching hooks.
In a cagey opener, Leigh unleashed his lethal right hand a few times but never hurt the champion.
Can peppered the Brit with an array of shots but never seemed to inflict any pain on the longshot underdog.
Wood scored with a brilliant uppercut in the second and fizzed shots into Can’s ribs but could not put a dent in the visitor.
Can had some success in the third when his pressure style broke through Wood’s guard briefly.
In the fourth Wood landed a crunching uppercut and hook combination that had his crowd roaring.
