But after the Brit left trainer Roach, he targeted a fight with Filipino boxing icon Pacquiao.
An agreement was close, as the eight-division champion opened up about a near-miss with Khan.
Pacquiao told Sky Sports: “Almost that fight. Almost close to have that fight, but there was a problem about something.
    “I will not disclose it.”
Pacquiao, 42, did not confirm what year talks broke down with Khan, 34, after years of being linked with each other.
And he remained coy on those sparring sessions which occurred in private.

Pacquiao said: “Fighting in the ring, inside the ring is different than training.
“Different than sparring or anything. Big difference.”
The ring legend makes his return after two years out against Cuban Yordenis Ugas, 35, on Saturday.
Pacquiao, who was due to fight Errol Spence Jr, 31, before the American pulled out with an eye injury, has not committed to how many fights he has left.
But before retirement, PacMan is still hoping to box in Britain for the first time ever in his iconic 71-bout career.
He said:”I hope that one day I could have a fight there. I’m hoping that one fight in the UK.”

UFC boss Dana White says Jake Paul has ‘ZERO’ chance of beating Conor McGregor and tells YouTuber have a ‘real fight’

DANA WHITE said Jake Paul has ‘ZERO’ chance of beating Conor McGregor and told the YouTuber: ‘Fight a real fight’. Paul has continued to challenge McGregor in an attempt to lure the former UFC champion into the boxing ring.

As a result, it has seen him publicly feuding with UFC president White.
The promoter hit out at Paul and his choice of opponents while speaking to social media stars Nelk boys.
    White said: “He’s calling out Conor. Conor’s a 145-pound champion and a 155-pound champion.
“You’re f***ing way bigger than Conor.”
Asked about Paul’s chances of winning against McGregor, White said: “Zero.”
Paul, 24, is 3-0 as a boxer, all by knockout, since his professional debut in 2020 but has so far faced limited opposition.

He has beaten online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and most recently retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37.
Paul faces his biggest step up on August 29 against Tyron Woodley, 39, a former UFC champion.
But still White is yet to be convinced by the polarising celebrity, who has not yet fought a seasoned boxer.
He said: “The media is not really following as much as they did in the beginning.
    Jake Paul entered elite company
“The stick is getting old, you know what I mean? I think for him to get the media back he’s gonna have to really fight somebody.
“Because they’re tired of it. They’re tired of the stick, ‘Hey it’s me, I weigh 190 and I want to fight these guys that weigh 170, 155, one-f***ing whatever and they are wrestling, they are 40-f***ing years old and they haven’t won a fight in three f****g years.
“If you want to be taken seriously by the media he needs to fight a real fight.”

Tyson Fury hopes baby Athena gets out of hospital on Wednesday after ‘very stressful’ intensive care battle

TYSON FURY provided fans with a positive update on his newborn daughter Athena, who he hopes will be out of hospital on Wednesday. The heavyweight champ’s daughter has been in intensive care since he and wife Paris welcomed their sixth child into the world on August 8.

    Tyson Fury’s newborn daughter Athena
Fury is now hopeful of bringing Athena home in just two days time, before he can then start training for ‘big dosser’ Deontay Wilder.
He said on Twitter: “Four mile run there with my dad in the park here in Liverpool.
“Hope to God that the baby gets out of the hospital on Wednesday and I can start training for the big dosser Deontay Wilder which gives me about seven and a half weeks, which is plenty of time for a mug like that.”
The Fury family have set up a GoFundMe page for the Alder Hey Family House Trust, raising £36,375 towards a £50k target to date.
Over the weekend new mum Paris, 31, shared footage of her by Athena’s bed side as she slept peacefully.
Her post comes just two days after Tyson, 33, revealed his newborn is in a ‘stable’ condition – but remained in the intensive care unit.

He wrote on his Instagram story: “Update for everyone. Baby Athena is well and has had a stable day off [the] ventilator.
“Thanks to everyone for the prayers, still in the ICU for now. Thanks to all the Drs and nurses. God bless you all.”
WBC champion Fury opened up about the difficult period as he exercised to take his mind off things.
He said: “After a very stressful week I’m back on the road doing a bit.
“I find that it calms me down, relaxes my mental health, anxiety. Without this bit of training I’d be cuckoo right now.”
Athena is the couple’s third daughter – following Venezuela, 11, and Valencia Amber, three.
Their boys are Prince John James, eight, Prince Tyson II, four, and one-year-old Prince Adonis Amaziah.
Last week, Fury’s father John revealed that Athena had ‘died for three minutes’ but thankfully the ‘miracle’ workers at the hospital were able to revive her.
Fury is due to fight American rival Wilder, 35, on October 9 but has understandably put training on hold.
But having returned to the UK from the US, the undefeated British star is now back under the guidance of his dad John.

Jake Paul claims that Tyron Woodley pre-fight training with Floyd Mayweather is ‘a disadvantage’ for the ex-UFC star

JAKE PAUL has laughed off fears about Tyron Woodley training with Floyd Mayweather.Instead, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, 24, claims it will be a DISADVANTAGE for his ex-UFC opponent, 39.
Jake Paul has no fears about Tyron Woodley training with Floyd Mayweather
Paul has won all three of his professional bouts so far
Paul and Woodley meet on Sunday August 29 in Cleveland, Ohio, to settle a feud dating back to April.
The pair clashed when Paul easily dismantled Woodley’s close friend Ben Askren.
And a heated dressing room encounter, followed by social media taunts, saw the grudge match eventually become official.
Woodley, who won 19 of his 28 professional MMA bouts, has never boxed before.
And with Paul having won all three of his bouts so far, Woodley has drafted in boxing legend Mayweather Jr for training.
Ironically, the veteran has just come off an exhibition draw against Paul’s older brother Logan.

But younger sibling Jake has no fears over Mayweather’s involvement in Woodley’s training camp, insisting it will not result in a positive outcome for the newbie boxer.
Paul told TMZ Sports: “I think it’s a disadvantage, actually.
“Him hopping around with different coaches, trying to learn different styles, that’s not how you progress in this sport.
“Floyd didn’t even have a strategy to go in and beat my brother, so how is he going to tell Tyron what to do?”

Ali Walsh, who’s the son of Ali’s daughter Rasheda, wasted no time showing the world boxing’s in his DNA and sent Weeks to the canvas in their middleweight bout after just 70 seconds.
His early ferociousness was enough for the referee to stop the fight when the first round was over.
An emotional Nico tributed his emphatic victory to his iconic grandfather who he misses tremendously.
After the fight, the 21-year-old said: “It’s just an emotional journey, this whole ride. This lived up completely to my expectations.
“Obviously, my grandfather, I’ve been thinking about him so much. I miss him.”

He said: “Everyone wants to knockout Muhammad Ali’s grandson. I would never tell anyone who I was but they’d always find out.
“I say being Muhammad Ali’s grandson is a blessing and a curse and that falls under the curse category.”

The Mirror reported that Paul, who’s been baiting McGregor to get in the ring with him over the past year, made his thoughts known in a Twitter rant.
Paul tweeted: “[Conor] McGregor is the most underpaid fighter in history [for] what he gets paid to fight versus the value he has brought to UFC, ESPN and MMA.”
Paul’s crusade for fair fighter pay is what he says led him to start his own promotion company Most Valuable Promotions with ESPN’s rival, Showtime Boxing.
He added: “I partnered with Stephen Espinoza [the head of Showtime Boxing.
“Because he created the biggest PPVs in history & made sure fighters got majority of the revenue, not 10% like UFC does.”
But McGregor seems to be doing just fine by the looks of his bank balance.

Joshua Buatsi batters Ricards Bolotniks with brutal 11th-round KO to move one step closer to world title fight

JOSHUA BUATSI raced to his second win in three violent months with a one-sided battering of Ricards Bolotniks. The man nicknamed ‘Just Business’ raced to his 15th straight victory, in promoter Eddie Hearn’s Essex garden, with a clinic in precision punching that ended brutally in the 11th.

The Anthony Joshua-managed ace dropped the granite-chinned Latvian in the sixth, was docked a point for low blows in round eight and then avoided the judges with a highlight reel knockout.
JB said: “Huge credit to Bolotniks, he is a great champion who pushed me all the way.
“I emptied my tank in the sixth and when I sat down after that I asked myself why but I had done it.
“But I have done it many times in camp with my sparring partners so I never worried.”
The 28-year-old Croydon ace struggled to miss at the start of the opener, catching the 31-year-old with every shot in the book.
But he got a warning when Bolotniks landed a short hook that stunned him and forced him smash his heavy fists together in frustration at his lapse in concentration.

Buatsi went to work on Bolotniks’ body in the second but was again tagged with a little hook around his guard.
The 2016 Olympic bronze winner kept punching and poking holes in the visitor and when he was clipped back in the third he shook off the blow and smiled.
By round four Bolotniks’ left eye was pink and bulging and a Buatsi left hook at the every end of the session wobbled the struggling visitor.
Buatsi was whacked again in the fifth but it sparked him into action and he finished the round by peppering Bolotniks again.
In the sixth the fight looked over when Buatsi dipped beautifully under a looping haymaker and bounced up into a left hook that collapsed Bolotniks into the canvas.
The brave underdog beat the count but was pummeled violently for the remainder of the 10-8 round. And he somehow survived the session with his corner just one more clean punch from throwing in the towel.
Buatsi lost a point in round eight when he was punished for one-too-many low blows, giving Bolotniks a chance to recover from the beating he was taking.

Buatsi was caught too many times in round nine but he was never hurt and he finished the stanza with a violent left hook that added more damage to Bolotniks’ bruised and bleeding face.
Rounds 10 and 11 were hard to watch, as JB repeatedly found a home for his howitzers.
And the final punch of the night was a sickening right hander that sent Bolotniks crashing to the canvas without a count even needed.
