Amir Khan finally set to face Kell Brook in Christmas fight as Brit rivals finalise talks with Eddie Hearn

AMIR KHAN versus Kell Brook is a done deal set to be a very late Christmas cracker. The aging welterweights have finally agreed to battle, after over a decade trading nothing but insults, with an eye on a December cash-out clash in Saudi Arabia.

Bolton ace Khan, 34, has always felt his 2004 Olympic silver medal and mainstream USA appeal puts him streaks ahead of his Sheffield rival and former IBF king.
But 35-year-old Brook has finally tempted the former light-welter champ into a spiteful straightener that should send both proven ring heroes into retirement.
Similar to the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather bout frustrated fight fans finally got to see in 2015, this all-English clash is happening around five years too late to be considered a bonafide blockbuster.
But, following Brook’s bitter split with promoter Eddie Hearn last year, Khan met with the Matchroom boss on Tuesday in an effort to do business.
And the Matchroom kingpin, now running his fights on streaming app DAZN instead of Sky Sports, admits both men are working hard to flog the fight to the highest bidder.
Hearn said: “I would do the fight, it is still a great fight, but it is not the fight it once was.

“It’s an auction with two guys who want to make as much money as they can. I want to do the fight but only at the right price.
“Both guys see this as their last fight so whoever pays the most money (promoter/broadcaster) will get the fight.
“DAZN has an idea of what we think the fight is worth, I think Sky would just put it on pay-per-view and that could be risky.”
Taking the fight to Saudi, where Khan boxed in 2019 and remains a massive name, will land the veterans a massive site fee.
And the two-hour time difference to Britain would boost viewing figures that are usually hurt by USA fights coming on UK TV at dawn.
Once-brilliant Brook, who has lost three of his last six fights and suffered fractures to both eye sockets, still believes the potential OAP-PPV is a massive draw.

He said: “Aside from AJ vs Tyson Fury, it is still the biggest fight in British boxing. And I still think everyone will get very excited about this fight.
“I have always wanted that fight and I think he finally wants it now too.
“I have done everything in my career and this grudge fight will be the icing on the cake. It will happen, it has to.”

Heart-pumping trailer released for Anthony Joshua’s September showdown with Oleksandr Usyk as Tyson Fury fight looms

ANTHONY JOSHUA has shared a heart-pumping trailer for his upcoming showdown with Oleksandr Usyk. The Watford Warrior will defend his unified heavyweight titles against the undefeated Ukrainian on September 25 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Anthony Joshua will defend his unified heavyweight titles against Oleksandr Usyk next month
AJ shared a heart-pumping trailer for the fight on Instgram
The mouthwatering battle of Olympic gold medallists is currently the talk of the boxing world, with fans divided over Usyk’s ability to trouble AJ.
And Joshua has further whet the appetite for the fight by dropping a pulse-racing Sky Sports trailer on his Instagram and Twitter pages.
The promo included highlights of Joshua’s stoppage of Kubrat Pulev last December and Usyk’s brutal 2018 KO of Tony Bellew.
In the clip, former undisputed cruiserweight king Usyk says: “I am the mandatory for Anthony Joshua.
“So he has two options: one to fight me or the other to vacate and go fight Tyson Fury.”
The video then cut to Joshua, who simply states: “I’ll fight him.”

Joshua, 32, is relishing his clash with the former king of the cruiserweights, saying: “The date is set and we are fully locked in.
“September 25, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, I put it all on the line again and it’s time to defend my crown.
“We are two Olympic gold medallists who have fought our way to the top and never avoided challenges.
“The stadium is exceptional, the atmosphere will be electric, I’m honoured to be the first person to fight in such an awe-inspiring venue.
“The stage is set and I am ready to handle business.”
Step forward, never asideAnthony Joshua on Instagram
Usyk has gone 2-0 since making his heavyweight debut against Chazz Witherspoon in October 2019 and is ‘confident’ of ending AJ’s second reign as unified champ.
His co-promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, told MyBettingSites: “The rematch is something that is not obligatory in the mandatory fight.
“But we accepted the very fair conditions to agree to it.
“Oleksandr is very confident in his victory over AJ and how he will beat him – so therefore he easily agreed for the second bout because his mindset will be even more favorable after he wins the first.
“There were no other options for Oleksandr after he became the undisputed champion and defended against Tony Bellew.

“There was nothing else to prove at cruiserweight and staying there would for sure be a stagnation or even a step back.
“Now Alex has a huge motivation to get up at 5am every day and work as hard as he can for he has an objective in front of him.
“After just two bouts at heavyweight, Usyk signed the contract for a multiple belt showdown with the king of the heavyweights.”

Streaming platform Triller have stumped up a considerable amount of cash to lure Haye out of retirement, providing him with a bigger purse than the £4.2million he received for his December 2017 clash with The Bomber.
When asked about his purse, the 40-year-old told iFL TV: “It’s more than the pay [for the Bellew fight]. More than the pay. It’s crazy.
“It’s more than what I got [paid] for Bellew one. I know, that’s what I’m saying. It’s crazy dough.
“So what am I going to say to that? ‘No, I’m not going to fight Joe Fournier for that?’ What would people think if I didn’t fight him for that?
“What would they think? They’d think, I’ve got something wrong with me.
    “I don’t. I’m really healthy, really good.

“I’ve just got to go through the motions and do what I do and let the universe even itself out. And yeah, it’s a good month’s work.”
Haye has no intention of launching an official comeback, saying: “Even if it’s only a month of training, it’s hard to put your body through that.
“You have to sacrifice, you’ve gotta go to bed at a certain time, you’ve gotta cancel all of your other arrangements, put all of your other business on hold.
“That’s what I do when I’m training for a fight, everything gets put on the back burner.
“I’d only do that for PPV money, good PPV money, and that’s what he brought to the table.”
Haye retired from boxing in June 2018 after suffering a second consecutive defeat to Bellew.
It’s more than what I got [paid] for Bellew oneDavid Haye on his purse for fighting Joe Fournier
But the Hammersmith hitman is confident he has plenty left in the tank to beat the 9-0 Fournier.
He said: “This is not a comeback, this is about teaching Joe Fournier there are levels to the boxing game.
“One must stay in their lane or risk getting flattened.
“There are certain things in life you can’t buy – Joe ‘The Billionaire’ Fournier needs to learn that.
“I was the heavyweight champion of the world just 10 years ago. I’m only 40. Joe is delusional. Champions are born not bought.”
Billionaire Fournier is adamant he’ll get the better of the former WBA heavyweight king, saying: “I will shock the world and knock out David Haye.

“Unquestionably one of the hardest challenges of my life, but this is the perfect fight at the perfect time for me.
“Haye is riddled with injuries, 10 years past his prime. I was a late starter to this pro boxing game – now I’m coming into my fighting prime.
“I’m healthy, motivated and ready to prove a point to Haye that on September 11, I will be victorious.”

Tommy, 22, has won three fights since coming out of ITV’s popular villa, where he was runner-up alongside girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague.
He opened the door to fighting KSI, 28, in 2019 after the Brit YouTuber beat Jake’s older brother Logan, 26, by split-decision.
But at the time, Tommy revealed he’s making up for his lack of amateur experience by fighting as frequently as he possibly can.
He said: “I am trying different things and learning all the time. I only had ten amateur fights so I am learning all the time.
“I am in the public eye so I don’t really worry about people’s opinions, as long as my friends and family are happy with me, I am happy.

Silva, however, ended up being matched up against fellow UFC vet Tito Ortiz, although he hasn’t ruled out sharing a ring with The Maverick.
When asked if he’d be open to facing Paul, he said: “Let’s go see. Anything is possible.
“We can’t control that situation. I can control one thing – training hard, listening to my coach.
“The other side, I can’t control that. If that happens, I’m prepared for that.
“If not, I will continue training.”

The Spider is focused solely on besting his fellow MMA legend but isn’t closing the door on a clash with Paul.
He said: “Everything’s possible. I love fighting. Fighting is a big part of my life.
“I challenge myself every single moment. I never stop training.
“Triller came to me and asked about this opportunity to fight Tito.
“It’s a great honour, he’s a legend. I saw Tito and said, ‘He’s a monster, this is amazing.’
“I’m a big fan of Tito. This is a big show for the fans.
“The shows for the fans are completely different.
“I think me, Vitor, Tito and other MMA fighters are ready to show what we can do.
“I am waiting for the next challenge, maybe it comes from Logan Paul. We shall see.”

Silva, 46, returned to the boxing world in June, putting on a masterclass against former WBO middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Paul, meanwhile, was last in action a week prior to the Brazilian, locking horns with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.
The YouTuber, surprisingly, ended up going the distance with Money, who looked as if Father Time has finally caught up with him.

The YouTuber caused havoc in May one month before his older brother Logan faced boxing legend Mayweather in an exhibition.
Paul snatched Mayweather’s cap, sparking a mass brawl with the ugly scenes immediately going viral.
The American social media sensation was told by online rival Fury not to try the trick again when they share the stage Stateside in two weeks time.
But Paul revealed he is only just getting going and boasted how Mayweather’s cap was just the start of his collection.
He told SunSport: “I would tell him not to wear a hat. If he wants to play those games, we can play those games, Tommy.
“Look, if you want to wear a hat, that s***’s going to get taken, one way or another. I’m stealing everybody’s hat, nobody’s hat’s safe.

“This kid’s not fast enough, Floyd Mayweather, I took this guy’s hat and he had to have 20 guys to hold me down before he could get one punch off 15 seconds later.
“Oh, and by the way, that was my warm up, so now I’ve got one under my belt, one stolen hat under my belt, the second one? Way easier.”
Paul, 24, is 3-0 as a boxer, all by knockout, since his professional debut in 2020 but has so far fought limited opposition.
He has beaten online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and most recently retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37.
Paul faces his biggest step up on August 29 against Tyron Woodley, 39, a former UFC champion.
On the undercard, 2019 Love Island star Fury, 22, faces Paul’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32, which will mark his US debut.
Also on the bill is heavyweight contender Daniel Dubois, 23, with Paul urging Fury to prove a point and potentially set up a fight between them.
He said: “I wanted to have Tommy be exposed to the US market, be exposed to my audience.
“I wanted to give him the opportunity to potentially shine in front of the world.
“I would tell him not to wear a hat. If he wants to play those games, we can play those games, Tommy.Jake Paul on Tommy Fury
“Because, no one has ever bought a Tommy Fury, pay-per-view or seen a Tommy Fury fight.
“This is his big moment, and it does potentially set us up for a fight in the future. If we can both do what we’re expected to do.
“Tommy’s ‘expected’ to win, I’m expected to win, so if we both get through, yeah it builds that narrative for sure.
“I wanted to give him that opportunity and I just wanted a dope undercard.
“He has a lot of hype around him, that’s also why I got Daniel Dubois, Amanda Serrano, I just wanted to build an amazing event.
