And the WBA welterweight king made his desire to unify the division known seconds after having his hand raised.
The Olympic silver medallist said: “Now the plan is to unify the title at welterweight.
“Everybody said that he was the champion, now we know who the real champion is.”
Spence Jr, 31, was due to face Pacquiao this weekend but was forced to withdraw from their tasty 147lb showdown with a detached retina.
When asked if if ‘that means Spence’, the 35-year-old replied: “He is next one on the list that I want to fight.
“But most of all, I’m praying that he recuperates.”

Spence Jr, who boxing fans are desperate to see lock horns with WBO welterweight champ Terence Crawford, first tweeted a cool-face emoji.
He then sent a direct message to Ugas, tweeting: “Good s**t @YordenisUgas.”
Defeat to Ugas was the eighth of Pacquiao’s legendary 26-year career.
And the beloved 42-year-old admits retirement could soon be on the cards.

Manny Pacquiao suffers heartbreak on boxing return with defeat to Yordenis Ugas and admits it could be his last fight

MANNY PACQUIAO was beaten on his boxing return by late substitute Yordenis Ugas – leaving his future in the sport in doubt. The legendary and iconic Filipino was due to challenge unbeaten American Errol Spence Jr for the unified WBC and IBF titles.

But after the welterweight champion pulled out with an eye injury, Ugas stepped in and took the opportunity of a lifetime with both hands, most effectively his left.
Pacquiao lost by unanimous decision and in doing so faced questions on his fighting future.
In his post-fight press conference, the 42-year-old said: “In the future, you may not see Manny Pacquiao fight again in the ring.
“I don’t know. But for how many decades, I’m so happy with what I’ve done in boxing.
“I contribute a record in boxing also and to make boxing the top.
“And especially bring honour to my country and the Filipino people.
“I’m so proud to be a Filipino and thankful to all the fans all over the world.”
The eight-division champion, returning for the first time since beating Keith Thurman in July 2019, wasted no time in coming out quick.

Pacquiao looked to have picked up where he left off in the first three minutes, letting his hands go and pressing forward.
But amongst the electric start from PacMan, drawing an even greater response from the crowd, Ugas, 35, slowly began to land the jab.
And it proved to be a pivotal part in what will later be remembered as a life-changing night for the American-based Cuban.
Ugas for the next three rounds kept Pacquiao at bay with his expert lead left hand, which threw over the top of the opposing southpaw guard.
The cracks were beginning to show for PacMan, who astonishingly was half way into his 72nd fight when he upped his product in round five with more combinations.
But as the fight entered the second half, Ugas was able to slow down the tempo and again work behind his jab.

Pacquiao, realising the tide was turning ever more against him, even started to look out of sorts, at one point made to miss with a looping right hook.
In round eight, Ugas found home to two perfect sweeping right hands as he judged the distance perfectly.
Pacquiao did pick it up again in the ninth, but the champion was smart to cover up and avoid and barrage of punches coming his way.
Hope for PacMan came in round ten when he landed a good left hand, but Ugas responded with a right of his own, directly on the chin.
Heading into the final six minutes, Pacquiao had a good 11th and threw a trademark four-punch combination, flashes of his vintage self.
But Ugas spoiled the momentum in the 12th and final round, landing combinations and a couple of clean right hands.
It really stamped his authority and signed off on what was a coming of age win in the professional career of Yordenis Ugas.

After the closing bell, the body language of both was telling, with Pacquiao appearing to have accepted defeat before the result was announced.
But it was utter jubilation for Ugas, who only took the fight on less than two week’s notice, having been initially due to feature on the undercard.
He said after the win: “I’m very excited, but most of all I want to thank Manny Pacquiao for giving me this moment in this ring today.
“I told you I am the champion of the WBA and I showed you tonight.”
Pacquiao was stripped of the WBA title he won against Thurman, 32, due to inactivity, despite being unable to return amid the coronavirus pandemic.
It saw Ugas elevated from secondary ‘Regular’ champion to the full belt – but there was no questioning his status tonight.
He said: “He’s a tough, great competitor, but I came in here to show that I am the champion of the WBA and a lot of respect for him, but I won the fight.”

It comes after the couple were also photographed together at the Wimbledon finals last month.
David and Sian posed alongside British model Jodie Kidd, 42, food critic William Sitwell, 51, and his wife Emily.
British heavyweight icon Haye retired in 2018 following consecutive defeats to Tony Bellew – but will be putting the gloves back on next month for the first time in three years.
The former cruiser and heavyweight world champ, 40, will return to the ring to settle a booze-fuelled BET with his pal Joe Fournier, 38 in Los Angeles.
The couple are thought to have enjoyed a holiday with friends – including Fournier – on the glamorous Greek island of Mykonos earlier in July.
In a post on his Instagram on July 19, they appeared in the same group shop along with the caption: “What an amazing week hanging with @joefournier and the crew in #mykonos …. Until the next time!”

Last month Sian stepped out with Haye at Wimbledon on the same day that he was also pictured alongside his son, Cassius, but they are yet to make the relationship official.
An onlooker said: “They both seemed to really enjoy one another’s company and appeared very relaxed.
“David and Sian clearly bring out the best in one another and it’s wonderful to see them so happy.”
In a picture posted on his Instagram dated July 16, Haye can be seen wearing distinctive baby blue and pink trainers and a t-shirt under a floral jacket.
He is pictured in the same outfit walking alongside Sian.
The model has appeared on magazine fronts in the UK and Middle East and was the poster girl for an advertising campaign by Chinese brewery Tsingtao.
It is thought that the pair met after Sian started modelling for Haye’s Black Mask Company which he launched in July last year to cash in on the Covid health boom.
She also appeared in several episodes of hit American TV show Project Runway.
David divorced from his wife of eight-years, Natasha, in 2016, before being snapped with his new girlfriend Lucinda Johnson just a few days later.
The hair extension firm boss was at his side just days after he and wife Natasha ended their marriage with a quickie divorce.
His marriage was plagued with problems after the former world champion cheated on the mother of his three children with a former stripper in 2011.
David and Sian were both approached for comment.

“I’ll see you soon boys, take it easy.”
Anthony Taylor: “I think it’s a disrespect to the sport, in my eyes and to many people’s eyes that understand boxing.
“He’s not a boxer. A boxer does not fight guys with ten wins and 126 losses. I can see if he fought a guy that was 1-2, 2-1, 3-3, 4-5, OK, 7-4.
“I can see if you fought those type of opponents with those records, then people can say, ‘OK, you’re actually not bad’.
“You don’t see a Ryan Garcia fighting guys on his debut with 0 wins and 26 losses. We don’t see Ryan Garcia fight a guy that’s, OK four wins eight losses.
“OK, let’s see, two wins, one loss, third fight, ten wins, five losses.” More

Dillian Whyte dubbed a tougher fight for Wilder than Anthony Joshua due to his deceptiveness and ‘bull-like strength’

DEONTAY WILDER’s head coach reckons Dillian Whyte would provide his man with a tougher test than unified heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua.Brixton banger Whyte has been calling for a fight with The Bronze Bomber for the best part of FOUR years.
Dillian Whyte has been trying to land a fight with Deontay Wilder for four yearsCredit: Matchroom Boxing
And Wilder’s head coach Malik Scot has claimed a fight against the Brixton banger would be tougher than a bout with Anthony JoshuaCredit: Instagram @malikkingscott
But The Body Snatcher is unlikely to get his hands on Wilder should the American win his upcoming trilogy fight with Tyson Fury.
Although Whyte is currently off Wilder’s radar, coach Malik Scott reckons the Jamaican-born Brit is one the biggest threats to the former WBC champ.
When asked which fight is more of a stylistic nightmare, Scott said: “Whyte in my opinion because he’s more deceiving.
“His height appears shorter than his actual height really is and his best and hardest punch really is his left jab/hook.
“His arms are longer than they appear and they hang down almost to his knees.
“So when you think you’re out of range of his height, it’s tricky because you’re still in arm’s reach of him because of his long arm length.

“And his power comes from his bull-like strength, not from the correction of his punches.”
Although Scott reckons Whyte is a tougher fight than AJ, he firmly believes Wilder would add his name to his long list of victims.
He continued: “Whyte is just dangerous for anyone, but what makes him vulnerable for Wilder is he’s very front-foot heavy.
“And I think being under 6ft 3ins going against any powerful puncher, especially Deontay, is a recipe for disaster.
“With AJ it’s a little different because since his loss to Ruiz Jr he’s added more to his game with hand positioning, controlling his distance, etc.
“But he’s a bigger target to hit and by him being better fundamentally, that makes him more vulnerable stylistically to get clipped by Deontay.”
Wilder, 35, is currently gearing up for an October trilogy fight with reigning WBC heavyweight champ Fury.
And the Olympic bronze medallist has vowed to avenge his seventh-round TKO loss to the Gypsy King in brutal fashion.
He said: “My mind is very violent. We built a whole facility to commit a legal homicide and that’s just what it is, my mind is very violent at this time.

“I can’t wait, when you’re contemplating and pre-meditating about harming a man and you see that person, what you’ve been thinking and feeling will come out.
“The only thing about it is, at that point in time, I have to wait until I get in the ring to really release because I can’t do it on the outside, it’d defeat the purpose.
“The baby’s got to eat, but when I do get in the ring, this is what I love about it, I’m able to release everything I’ve been feeling, everything I’ve been thinking, and get paid to do it.”

UFC chief Dana White offered MMA great Georges St-Pierre Khabib super-fight to make for Oscar De La Hoya boxing match

GEORGES ST-PIERRE has revealed Dana White offered him a super-fight with Khabib after blocking him from boxing Oscar De La Hoya. The former two-division champion, who retired from MMA in February 2018, was on course to box The Golden Boy before White vetoed the bout.

GSP claims White offered him a fight with Khabib after blocking him for facing De La HoyaCredit: Getty
White blocked the fight as St-Pierre is still under contract with the UFC, but the veteran promoter attempted to make up for the missed payday with a historic clash with Nurmagomedov.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour, St-Pierre said: “And at first he refused.
“Then he thought about it but he came back with the argument that, oh, no, it’s not because he thinks Oscar is going to win; he thinks it’s because he doesn’t like the fact that Triller takes me and makes money off my back while I’m still under contract with UFC.
“So what Dana says — listen to this — then he came back and he asked me if I wanted to fight Khabib.
“And I told Dana, I said, ‘That’s very strange. Why didn’t you want to do the fight when we asked you a few years ago? Why is it now?’
“He said, ‘Yeah, because Khabib was not retired and he was not the same guy that he was. Now it all makes sense.’
“So I didn’t want to, but I was curious to see what would’ve happened, so I said to him, ‘I’m going to think about it,’ and I waited.

“Turns out that, shortly after, I saw in the media people saying that, oh, now Khabib, he doesn’t want to fight me because I asked for the fight with Khabib.
“I never asked for the fight with Khabib. It’s Dana White that probably went to Khabib and [his manager] Ali Abdelaziz and told them that Georges wants to fight Khabib.
“We asked a long time ago, but I didn’t ask again. I didn’t beg for that fight again. We’re both retired and I’m good.”
St-Pierre went to great lengths to try and land a big payday against De La Hoya, phoning former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta.
The 40-year-old admitted: “I even called Lorenzo to try to convince Dana.
He came back and he asked me if I wanted to fight Khabib.Georges St-Pierre on Dana White blocking a boxing match with Oscar De La Hoya
“Lorenzo liked the idea, but Dana did not want it. I knew he hates Oscar but I said to him, ‘Listen, I’m going to make Oscar look bad because I’m in great shape.
“I’ve been staying in great shape the whole time and I’m going to do a full boxing training camp with Freddie Roach and his world champions there, so I’ll be very well prepared.’
“At first he says to me that the reason why he did not want it is because he thought that Oscar would basically destroy me in a boxing match.
“And I had some good arguments — I told him that I believe Oscar has more mileage than I do, he’s no longer in his prime, I stayed busy the whole time, I’m still in great shape, I’m going to be very well prepared and I’m taking this fight very seriously.
“If I do it, because it’s my name — my image is attached to it — I will do it 100 per cent.

“And I told Dana, I said, ‘If there’s one MMA fighter that can go to boxing and look good in this situation, it would be me.’”
De La Hoya’s wish to face a former UFC champion was granted when ex-light-heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort signed on the dotted line.
The pair, 48 and 44 respectively, will face one another on September 11 in the main event of Triller’s latest boxing card.
