Eddie Hearn wants Jake Paul to fight Conor McGregor, ‘make loads of money’ and QUIT boxing after ‘novelty’ career

EDDIE HEARN wants to see Jake Paul fight Conor McGregor and ‘make loads of money’ and then quit his boxing career. The YouTuber stretched his record to 4-0 inside the ring as he secured a seven round split decision victory over Tyron Woodley last weekend.

Despite his win over the former UFC champion, Matchroom promoter Hearn believes the ‘novelty’ of the social media star competing in the ring is beginning to fade.
Woodley wants a rematch, but after the lack of action last weekend, the pull of the two getting it on again will be lacking.
The day after Woodley requested a rematch, Paul told his foe on social media that if he wanted another shot at him then he would have to get a tattoo that says: “I love Jake Paul.”
Paul announced afterwards that he was retiring from the ring, but a potential fight with UFC mega-star McGregor would almost certainly tempt him back.
McGregor has also expressed interest in fighting Paul and the clash would sell millions on pay-per-view.
Now Hearn has offered Paul some advice, tell iFL TV: “Look, you’ve got to take your hat off.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET 20/1 ON ENGLAND TO BEAT ANDORRA
“What Jake Paul and Logan Paul did was quite amazing, you know? And the show was packed.
“Boxing is a tough, tough sport to crack in America. We found that. It’s not like it is in the UK, and I think they’re [Logan and Jake] doing a good job.
“But I think it’s about to fizzle out, I really do. I think any novelty act only stays novel for a certain period of time, and it’s always about the product.
“The product isn’t actually great. The idea is great, the hype is great, but what you’re actually watching just isn’t very good.”

Hearn added: “I think he should fight Conor McGregor.
“I think he’s [Jake Paul] going to get beat sooner or later. So why not just go and fight Conor McGregor and make loads of money. It’s actually quite a good fight.
“I don’t know how they’re going to make the weight up. Could Jake get to 170? I don’t know.
“But just make the fight. Let them make a few quid and then walk off into the sunset.”

Dillian Whyte rival Franklin claims he has signed for fight and eyes Anthony Joshua clash after he puts ‘joke’ to sleep

AMERICAN heavyweight Jermaine Franklin has revealed he has signed a fight agreement to take on Briton Dillian Whyte.Whyte, 33, is desperately chasing a world title shot after beating Alexander Povetkin in their rematch back in March.

Whyte has only lost two of his 30 professional fightsCredit: Mark Robinson
But The Body Snatcher wants to stay busy while he waits for unified champion Anthony Joshua to fight Oleksandr Usyk and WBC champ Tyson Fury to take on Deontay Wilder.
He is set to return to the ring on October 30 and Franklin – who has been talked about as a possible opponent for Whyte – has already begun the trash talk.
He told MyBettingSites: “Well I’ve signed the bout agreement on my end. I’m ready. It’s time for a United States fighter to show the world that we still have the best fighters on the planet.
“Plus Dillian Whyte is a joke. He talks a good game but he needs to fight someone that is hungry, faster and younger than him. ‘Betty’ Whyte is scared of me and he should be.
“I hope he will sign his end, but he is acting like a spoiled, has-been fighter. In fact, I’ve got a crayon for him to sign with. He probably needs a crayon so I will bring extras just in case he breaks one.
“If I’m a bum, like he said I am, then prove it. Everyone keeps thinking I’m a step-over fighter and they don’t realise that I’m ready to show the world that the United States have the best heavyweights and I am the best in that category.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET 20/1 ON ENGLAND TO BEAT ANDORRA
“I just want the chance to show it to the world and shut up the haters. I think Dillian is worried and scared about fighting me because he knows I’m not a bum. Plus I’m a good fighter. I’m no pushover.
“I have fought some good fighters to get to this point. In boxing you learn from every win and loss. I plan on learning from my wins for a long time.
“I will show him the best of Jermaine Franklin. The world hasn’t seen that just yet. I will use my jab a lot more than before and focus on the body. I’m going to bring a pillow for him so when he hits the canvas he can go right to sleep.”
Whyte’s only pro defeats have come against Joshua in 2015 and Povetkin last year.
Meanwhile, Franklin holds a perfect record of 20-0 but has not faced anyone close to the calibre of Whyte.
But that hasn’t stopped him from exuding confidence ahead of a potential clash.

And he is keen to step up and face Joshua for the belts if he is successful against Whyte.
He added: “After I beat Dillian, I would then be ready to fight Joshua. He has a lot of weaknesses and Andy Ruiz showed them for all to see.
“Plus, like any fighter all it takes is one punch. Remember the boxing world hasn’t seen my best yet.”

And Tyson believes the YouTube sensation – who moved to 4-0 as a professional following the victory – deserved to have his hand raised.
Speaking to TMZ, he said: “Jake Paul won. I love Jake Paul. Tyron Woodley did his best.”
It comes after Woodley claimed Mayweather – who trained the MMA man in the lead-up to the clash – told him he won the fight.
The former UFC champion said: “He [Mayweather] did feel like I won the fight.
“He said, ‘You know, I told you that he [Jake Paul] was going to be kind of scared of you. You’ve been there before’.
“He said, ‘He ain’t been hit with no s**t yet. We’re gonna see how he responds’.

“He said, ‘You’ve been hit with four-ounce gloves, and you can take it. Let’s see how he deals with that’.”
Woodley began campaigning for a rematch seconds after the result of his professional boxing debut was read out.
But Paul also has some other potential opponents including Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy, who won his bout on the undercard of the main event.
Tommy, who is 7-0, called on Paul to take the fight after he beat American Anthony Taylor by unanimous decision.

He said: “Looking at that, Jake Paul, you should have an easy night mate, shouldn’t you?
“There’s no excuses now. You’ve seen everybody, I’ve had the biggest cheer in the place.
“There’s no excuses, no running, no hiding. I want you next, you bum. Let’s get it on.”

Watch as Josh Warrington and Mauricio Lara are separated by security at fiery weigh-in after Brit is shoved

JOSH WARRINGTON was pulled apart from Saturday night rematch nemesis Maurico Lara when the fight threatened to start a day early.Last February, in an empty and silent Wembley arena, the Leeds ace was stunned by a brutal knockout loss to the unknown Mexican.

On Saturday night, there will be 20,000 screaming fans packed into Headingley, backing their hero for a revenge mission.
And, at Friday’s lunchtime weigh-in, around 600 diehard supporters found the time off work to pile down to The New Dock hall and scream their man onto the scales.
The 30-year-old had no problem making the 9st limit and kicked off the intimidation campaign backed by his legion of fans.
After scaling 125lbs the 30-1 ace roared into his audience like a man possessed and got too close for the visitor’s liking, before Lara shoved him back and security dived in.
He said: “It’s good to be back, it’s nice of everyone to turn up and nice to see there’s going to be a big crowd on Saturday night – it feels normal.
“This is what I got used to, I got used to this big stage ever since I won the world title. I’ve been looking forward to this for such a long time.

“Going back to normality, going back to a stadium, having people in the crowd – they’re my second wind, my adrenaline, my twelfth man, that little advantage.
“They’re part of Josh Warrington’s attributes, it’s going to be special to walk out, I’ll give them redemption.”
Meanwhile on Warrington’s undercard, Conor Benn is looking to move to 19-0 as he takes on Mexican Adrian Granados.
Benn crushed Covid-19 to make his welterweight limit for Saturday’s Adrian Granados clash.
The 24-year-old fans’ favourite was supposed to fight the American on July 31 but the bout was KOed by a positive test for the son of British ring legend Nigel.
The heavy-handed ace only needed a couple of days rest and was back in Tony Sims’ gym smashing personal bests.
And the father of eight-month-old son Eli must have stayed painfully close to the 10st 7lbs limit for all of August to cruise under 147lbs in Leeds.
After stripping off to hit the scales at 146lbs the tattooed banger gave his respected rival one final threatening stare.
He said: “It will be a serious ruck or someone is getting laid out. And it won’t be me.
Benn has overcome Covid on his way to a clash with GranadosCredit: PA
“People might mistake my confidence for arrogance but I’m the one up at 3am running so I have the right to be confident.
“Granados has been in with the top dogs of the welterweight division so he is a massive test.”
Benn made his professional debut in 2016 as a raw 19-year-old on a huge Anthony Joshua undercard.
And he has had his critics labelling him a novelty act, thanks to his fighting genes.
But 18 wins into his all-action career he feels he has proved he is the real deal and cannot wait to thrill 20,000 fans at Headingley.
“All these people arrive thinking I am all hype and I am here to show them,” he said.

“I am five years of hard work, not five minutes. It hasn’t come overnight.
“I think this will top my O2 debut because I have had a mad Leeds welcome.
“It’s been so good I might even enjoy a beer in the pub afterwards with everyone.” More

And he had insult added to injury yesterday, when a fan mistook him for Whyte.
In a video posted to his Twitter account Chisora, 37, said: “This guy here had the nerve to call me Dillian Whyte.”
The fan sheepishly hit back: “I’m sorry, I apologise, my f*** up.”
Former England rugby star James Haskell happened to be on the scene.
He cheekily butted in: “I tell you what though, he got my name right, James Haskell – sorry about that.”
To which the fan meekly responded: “I’m a Wasps fan.”

Haskell, 36, replied:”F***ing, mother f***ing Del Boy here chief, walk on pal.”
Chisora incredulously said: “Mate I don’t look that ugly pal come on now.”
The fan attempted to draw a line under the incident, saying: “I apologise 100 per cent my f*** up.”
Chisora, who boasts a 32-11 record, first fought Whyte in Manchester back in 2016 – losing via split decision.

They rematched two years later – and Whyte left no room for doubt, knocking his compatriot out.
Chisora, who has split with manager David Haye, was beaten by Joseph Parker back in May.
And it appears that Joe Joyce is now in the driving seat to face the New Zealander next.

Ahead of his return, six-weight world champion De La Hoya has opened up on his with his battle with substance abuse following his retirement.
And in a frank interview with the Los Angeles Times, he shared a traumatic childhood experience.
He said: “I was raped at 13, from a woman, an older woman.
“Thirteen, lost my virginity over being, you know, being raped, basically.
“I was in Hawaii, I think, at some tournament. She was over 35.”
De La Hoya, 48, pushed the horrendous ordeal to the back of his mind as he embarked on what would become a hall-of-fame career.

But he never took the time to mentally process the alleged sexual assault.
The Olympic gold medallist added: “You suppress everything.
“You’re living this life, the Golden Boy, but, oh s**t, wait, that’s still there.
“Like I never, like, thought about it, I never processed it, I never really thought how my feelings are… until one day it just comes out, and you don’t know how to deal with it.”
De La Hoya opted to make a change to his life last year after years of wrestling with drug and alcohol addiction.
He said: “I couldn’t be drinking and doing drugs and this and that. I’m going to throw my life away, you know?”
I was raped at 13, from a woman, an older woman.Oscar De La Hoya
De La Hoya hasn’t set foot inside the ring since being dismantled by Manny Pacquiao in their Las Vegas showdown in 2009.
Five months later, he brought the curtain down on his legendary career – a decision he still regrets to this day.
He said: “The next day, deep down inside, it’s like, why did I do that?
“You try to convince yourself that life is going to get better after you retire.
“Jesus, you’ve been waiting for this moment all your life.
“And once you’re retired, once you’re not doing what you love, there’s a big hole.”
Lacing up the gloves again is something De La Hoya is relishing after 12 years of inactivity.
And he’s anticipating his clash with Belfort to be an all-out war.

The Olympian said: “This fight is f*****g crazy important. It’s what makes or breaks me.
“If I have Belfort right in front of me, I’ll tell him thank you for the opportunity and I know we are going to f——- beat the s**t out of each other. It’s basically it.
“It’s going to be fun. Don’t forget that. I love fighting. Belfort is a freaking legend.
“The fact that he’s a big guy is a big challenge. It’s what gets me going. Let’s go!
“Everybody who knows me knows that when I fight, I give it my all. When I train, I train like a mad man.
“I was tired of all these exhibitions. When you’re up there, you’re up there to go to war.

“That’s what I expect to do. I know he’s a big motherf****r I’ll tell you one thing, I’m doing this for the right reasons. Mentally and physically, it’s the old time.
“I’m in the zone right now. I know we are going to get into a f*****g war.

And he looks to be in tremendous shape for the tussle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The normally bulky Joshua, 31, shared two snaps from his training camp to his social media pages on Thursday evening.
And boxing fans were quick to comment on his trimmer physique, with WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie saying: “Lean, mean, boxing machine
Another said: “Champ, you look lean!

Joshua revealed his intention to reduce the size of his frame last month, telling Sky Sports: “I do look at my weight but I’m not trying to make weight because I’m a heavyweight.
“I tailor my training. I am getting a lot of experience, I’ve been fighting good fighters for a long time, I’ve studied them and learned about their training camps.
“I’ve learned how to condition my body for specific fights. I’m looking trim for this fight.
“I’m fighting a guy who is a 12-round fighter. So it would be silly of me to go in there bulky with my muscles screaming for oxygen.
“I’ve been training like a 15-round fighter in this camp. I will be well-conditioned to fight. That is key.
“What happens when I train that way? My body adapts and takes its natural form. This is the form it has taken.”
Joshua has been tipped to knock out former undisputed cruiserweight king Usyk, who many believe is an undersized heavyweight.

But AJ currently doesn’t have a fight-ending sequence in mind, saying: “I was watching [Evander] Holyfield and [James] Quick Tillis today and he was saying how he was gonna come and bring war.
“And if he wins, he’s gonna fight Tyson and rematch him. And he lost, I think it was in the fifth round.
“So it just shows whatever I say, whatever people say, it only matters when you’re in the ring. I respect it, everyone is entitled.
“And that’s what I was saying, one day, I’m gonna be that guy on the sidelines.
“But as for now, I wish Usyk a great camp, I wish his team well, safe travels. Same with my team.
“The main thing is we keep boxing alive and we get in there and we put on a good fight. And that’s what we’re here to do.
“And that’s what I’m here to do, at the end of the day. And he’s here to do the same.

“But I don’t know how it’s going to end. I don’t know if it’s going to be the jab, the uppercut. Do you know what I mean?
“I don’t know what shot it’s going to be, [but] I just want to go out there and put on a good show for the people that are going to coming out to watch.
“Because that’s all that matters at the end of the day.”
