Tyron Woodley ‘looked like a sack of s***’ in ‘very embarrassing’ loss to YouTuber Jake Paul, says ex-UFC star Dan Hardy

TYRON WOODLEY ‘looked like a sack of s***’ in his ‘very embarrassing’ loss to YouTuber Jake Paul, ex-UFC title challenger Dan Hardy said.Woodley was beaten by Paul on points after eight rounds despite having the social media star hurt in round four after sending him into the ropes.

It ended months of trash talk and build up between the pair, which included a spat at a press conference where Woodley’s mother was involved.
But after the former UFC champion suffered defeat, Hardy hit out at the American with a brutal assesement.
He told Submission Radio: “He looked like a sack of s*** the other week.
“That was very embarrassing. The reason I’m annoyed about it, is that he validated exactly what I thought was gonna happen, and I expected more from him.
“Like dude, you’re nearly 40, you’re rap game’s not going anywhere, you’re MMA career’s done, you’ve got a guy in front of you that’s been trashing your mum, that’s been talking a whole heap of nonsense for how many months?
“And you’ve got eight rounds to punch him in the face and you’re already half punching him through the ropes, and then you don’t put your foot on the gas because you’re afraid of being vulnerable?

“That just looks weak to me. It looks weak and it wastes people’s money.”
Paul, 24, moved to 4-0 in his career and added to his wins over online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, both 37.
Former champ Woodley, 39, left the UFC after four consecutive losses, without a win in three years, with his run of defeats stretching over to the boxing ring.
Hardy, 39, said: “I love all these weird and wonderful fights, but that’s when it runs out of steam.
“Like, that’s when the fire burns out, is when people tune in and they see that s***show and they go, ‘Oh, I won’t get it next time, because I’ll expect the same thing’.
“I’d rather watch Askren get knocked out again than watch that. And Askren wasn’t there to win, we all know that.
“I think what’s even worse is that Woodley was there to win and he didn’t try.

“And that must burn him. That was burning him in the post-fight interview.
“He could barely contain himself without calling him out before he finished his interview.
“It’s like dude, you’ve missed your opportunity, shut the f*** up and sit down and go and find something else to do, because you’ve just had your opportunity and it passed you by.”

Evander Holyfield’s comeback aged 58 ‘shouldn’t be happening’ as concerning training clip shows, says Michael Bisping

MICHAEL BISPING warned Evander Holyfield’s comeback fight aged 58 ‘shouldn’t be happening’ as concerning training footage showed. The heavyweight legend is set to come out of retirement ten years after last lacing up the gloves to face former UFC champion Vitor Belfort.
Evander Holyfield, 58, caused concern due to his open workout

But Holyfield has already left fans in fear following footage of his open workout on the pads.
The American – known as the ‘Real Deal’ during his heydey – was barely able to throw a body shot and looked painfully slow.
Former UFC champ Bisping was among several to voice his concern in Holyfield’s return to the ring.
He tweeted: “Fighters by nature are brave, that’s why managers, coaches and commissions are there to protect them from themselves.
    “This fight shouldn’t be happening.”
Holyfield, who won titles at cruiserweight and heavyweight, is one of the most celebrated fighters in boxing history.

But he has not been champ since 2001 and retired after beating Brian Nielsen in 2011.
He last year announced plans to make a comeback after his iconic rival Mike Tyson, 55, did the same thing.
Holyfield, who twice beat Tyson – with their second being the rematch where his ear was infamously bitten – entered talks for a trilogy.
But with negotiations collapsing, he continued to train with the view of a new opponent.
After Oscar De La Hoya, 48, was forced to withdraw from fighting Belfort, 44, with coronavirus, Holyfield agreed to replace him.
The fight was forced to move to Florida after the California comission refused to licence Holyfield amid safety fears.
And now he will face Belfort over eight rounds, but consisted over two minutes not the typical three.

Joe Fournier claims he gave David Haye a ‘broken nose’ in secret sparring session with ‘blood literally everywhere’

JOE FOURNIER claimed he gave David Haye a ‘broken nose’ in a sparring session with ‘blood literally everywhere’. Fournier is a close friend of British boxing legend Haye, who even managed and promoted him.
Joe Fournier claimed he gave David Haye a ‘broken nose’ in a sparring session
The millioniare nightclub mogul, who is 10-0 as a boxer officially having debuted in 2015, used to spar with the Haymaker.
And one such secret session saw Haye, 40, left with a suprising nose break, Fournier, 38, insisted ahead of their fight on Saturday night.
He told Switchbox TV: “About five years ago me and David were sparring a lot. I was his sparring partner, but nobody really knows that.
“I was the first sparring partner he used for his fights with Bellew because I was so light.
“He always gets his eyes back first so just does volume, then works on cardio and then he starts working with cruiserweights and heavyweights.
“So there was one occasion in Miami where I’ve hit him with a left hook and bang – broken nose – blood literally everywhere.

“Imagine if that was a 10oz glove without headgear, what would really have happened? You do think about it.
“He’s going 70 per cent, I’m going flat out trying to survive but it’s been six years I’ve been active and four where he hasn’t and you have to think, this is a real match-up!”
Despite the pair’s friendship and bond, an arguement in Mykonos over who would win currently has led to a fight being scheduled between them.
Haye, who retired after two consecutive losses to Tony Bellew, will make his comeback against Fournier over eight rounds.
How David Haye and Joe Fournier stack up ahead of their clash
And he refused to admit he was ever rocked in their prior sparring sessions, despite the bloodied nose.
Haye said: “He’s never hurt me, I’ve felt his power.
“I think when he bloodied up my nose one time, he caught me with a shot, and it busted my nose a little bit. I think that’s his claim to fame.”

Tyron Woodley refusing to get ‘I love Jake Paul’ tattoo until ex-UFC star has ‘paperwork’ for a rematch with YouTuber

TYRON WOODLEY is refusing to get an ‘I love Jake Paul’ tattoo until he has ‘paperwork’ for a rematch with the YouTuber. Before Woodley faced Paul over eight rounds, they agreed the loser would have the winner’s name inked on them.

After the ex-UFC champion was beaten on points, he immediately called for a rematch in the ring which was accepted, so long as the tattoo wager was fulfilled.
As a result, Woodley is now awaiting a contract for a second fight with Paul before going ahead with the tattoo.
He said on Instagram Live:“That tattoo situation, the original bet was the loser gets the tattoo.
“In the ring, a new bet was presented that, in my opinion, superseded the previous bet.
“That bet said if you get the tattoo then we can run it back. We both said ‘Bet’ and we shook hands.
“So that’s a bet I’m trying to facilitate and the rematch has to happen. If we get the paperwork, of course.

Paul, 24, moved to 4-0 in his poloarising boxing career after what proved to be his biggest win to date.
Britain’s Tommy Fury, 22, brother to world champion Tyson and star of Love Island in 2019, is the social media star’s preferred next opponent.

But Woodley, 39, is still holding out for a rematch and remains confident there can be up to three fights.
He said: “It’s all part of the story. This wouldn’t have been a trilogy.
“I’m gonna f*** him up and then his pride’s gonna kick in and we’re gonna do it again and it’s gonna literally be a whole movie that people talk about for a very long time.”

Haye vs Fournier is set for eight rounds and WILL count on both boxers’ pro records.
The big card also features Anderson Silva vs Tito Ortiz.
What TV channel and live stream is David Haye vs Joe Fournier on?
A TV channel for the card has yet to be announced for UK television.

    How do the fighters compare

    What have they said?
Haye: “This whole fight between us, came into existence when at dinner with a group in Mykonos we were asked who would win in a fight between us.
“I laughed, but out of respect for Joe’s ego suggested it would be close, maybe a draw – whilst winking to Joe.
“Joe’s straight-faced response was very different, he was deadly serious stating he would win in a fight today – I assumed it was just the tequila talking.
“And that’s exactly where it started. A boozy night in Mykonos, two alpha males peacocking with a crowd of girls.
“Fast forward two weeks, I remain happily retired from boxing, with no intentions to make a traditional comeback to challenge the monsters of the division but am fit and ready to prove my point against my overconfident billionaire buddy.
“I would’ve been more than happy to prove this point behind closed doors, I suggested a 4-round spar in my Hayemaker Gym in London, which would have been more than enough to shut him up.
“But for Fournier, the ‘Ric Flair’ of the boxing world, this would have done nothing for his ‘legacy’.
“Joe asked what it would cost to get me through the ropes one last time for an official fight, on a real stage.
“I told him it would have to be a package rivalling my last PPV blockbusters. A few calls with the lawyers, and here we are.” More

JAKE PAUL has confirmed he wants to fight ‘real boxer’ Tommy Fury NEXT, with talks already underway. The YouTuber moved to 4-0 in his polarising boxing career after beating former UFC champion Tyron Woodley over eight rounds in late August.

On the undercard, Fury also scored a win over Paul’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor.
The night ended with the celebrity pair clashing backstage before their teams were forced to be pulled apart.
Paul, yet to face an opponent with professional boxing experience, has now named Fury, a star of Love Island in 2019, as his preferred next fight.
He said on the ‘Full Send’ podcast: “I think Tommy Fury is at the top of that list. He’s skilled, he’s undefeated, and he’s a real boxer.
“He has like four million followers on Instagram which is good engagement. He has the fans from his relationship show.”
Paul has beaten online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 37, previously.

But his points win over Woodley, 39, was a career best and leaves him confident of fighting Fury, 7-0 himself.
And he seemingly ruled out a grudge match against Dillon Danis – Conor McGregor’s jiujitsu training partner – due to a lack of demand.
Paul said: “It all starts with the numbers, like would the fight sell a lot? Would people actually care?
“I could go and fight the infamous jiujitsu guy who doesn’t shut the f*** up on social media, but it’s a hard sell.
I think Tommy Fury is at the top of that list. He’s skilled, he’s undefeated, and he’s a real boxer.Jake Paul on his next fight
“This guy just beat a UFC hall of fame legendary striker, we’re not going to put him up against a jiujitsu guy in a boxing match.
“So after each fight, we go back to the drawing board and we’re like ‘who makes the most sense’ — can they actually sell pay-per-views?
“Can we sell this fight as like, ‘This is a tough fight for Jake’.”
Paul’s head coach BJ Flores confirmed negotiations between Paul, 24, and Fury, 22, have taken place and gave his approval for the fight.

Flores told the Don’t Blink podcast: “They have been talking about Tommy Fury for quite some time.
“He’s a good looking kid, very charismatic, the younger brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson, he comes from that Gypsy background and he’s very tough.
“He’s one of those guys that doesn’t have all of the amateur credentials like Tyson or grow up the same way as he did, but he’s still a Fury so he’s going to be tough.”

Evander Holyfield offers advice to Deontay Wilder for trilogy with Tyson Fury ahead of his own comeback fight aged 58

EVANDER HOLYFIELD has warned Deontay Wilder to change his style ‘slowly’ and not become a new man overnight. It comes after the American former champion hired his ex-opponent Malik Scott – who he knocked out in 2014 – as his new head coach.

Wilder has pulled back the curtain on his new training regime with a series of videos which includes more body punching, jabbing and movement.
But boxing legend Holyfield, who returns aged 58 on Saturday against Vitor Belfort, fears the Bronze Bomber could tinker with his tactics too much.
He told FightHype: “The thing is with Deontay he started boxing at a late age.
“A lot of times when somebody starts boxing at a late age, they get one good style and that’s it.
“A lot of them don’t know how to make a lot of adjustments, so I don’t know if this is him or not. He’s one of my favourite fighters.
“Stick to what you’re really good at and implement it slowly, and maybe he can and maybe not.

“There aren’t too many things you want to change from. You add some but you add things that you needed.”
Wilder, 36, who first picked up the gloves aged 20, managed to win bronze at the 2008 Olympics after only three years of experience.
As a professional, he went 43 fights unbeaten, with 41 knockouts, until he was dethroned by Tyson Fury, 33, in their 2020 rematch.
Suddenly, despite years of relying on his power and a fairly one-dimensional approach, Wilder decided to freshen up his team.
It has seen Scott employed as lead trainer, but Holyfield hopes Wilder is not ‘thinking too much’ ahead of his trilogy with Fury on October 9.
He said: “In all these things you work on in being the very best. Is he getting it to the point where he can remember to do them as a natural thing?
How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight
“The worst thing you can do for a fighter is let somebody new come in there giving him something new to do.
“They take it all of a sudden you start thinking too much. Boxing is a reaction sport.
“If you and me were boxing, you might not be comfortable, but I’m comfortable about how far I can get to for me to make you do something that I can counter a shot.”

Top ten P4P boxing stars across all weight divisions revealed with Canelo Alvarez and Anthony Joshua fighting it out

CANELO ALVAREZ will aim to become undisputed super-middleweight world champ when he fights Caleb Plant on November 6.And if he manages to beat the American, you won’t find many arguing against him being the pound-for-pound best.

The Mexican is already four-weight world champ – you wouldn’t be surprised if he fancies a crack at cruiser or even heavy in the future.
Here’ SunSport gives its pound-for-pound top 10 boxers – and it wasn’t an easy task.
    1 Canelo Alvarez
Mexican hero Alvarez has quickly taken over as boxing’s biggest star since former foe Floyd Mayweather walked away from the sport.
With only a sole loss – to Mayweather in 2013 aged 23 – Canelo has gone on to rule the super-welterweight and middleweight divisions as well as winning a world title at super-middleweight.
Last time out he crushed Billy Joe Saunders’ dreams, as well as his eye socket, with a stoppage win.
Next up is the unification blockbuster against Caleb Plant – but the Mexican looks unbeatable right now.

    2 Josh Taylor
Incredibly, Taylor still doesn’t seem to get the respect he deserves.
Along his path to becoming UNDISPUTED super-lightweight champion, the 30-year-old Scott has battered some real warriors.
Taylor is now the face of Sky Sports’ new boxing era without Eddie Hearn – and it’s about time.
Josh Taylor is the undisputed super-lightweight kingCredit: PA
    3 Terence Crawford
Crawford is as classy in the ring as he is outside it.
Possibly the best switch-hitter in the game right now, he has the ability to overwhelm any foe with his combination punching.
The American has great balance allowing him to work as a counter-puncher – as Julius Indongo knows – though he is equally as deadly as an aggressive box-puncher, which often comes out in the later rounds.
Crawford has won world titles at lightweight, super-lightweight and currently reigns as WBO welterweight king – having held undisputed gold at 140lbs.

    4 Anthony Joshua
Joshua make it into this list for his boxing skillset learned from his amateur days and also his bouncebackability.
The sport was stunned when Joshua was flattened by the unfancied late stand-in Andy Ruiz Jr – but went back to the drawing board, came back, and scored an easy rematch victory.
Critics will argue that AJ could well be the complete heavyweight, but not pound-for-pound for his transferrable skills.
But he has never shirked a challenge and the list of his conquests is very impressive.
Anthony Joshua has lost only once – but went on to avenge that defeat to Andy Ruiz JrCredit: PA
    5 Naoya Inoue
The Americans now know all about Inoue.
He has secured two KO victories in his last two fights in Las Vegas – demonstrating his phenomenal power at bantamweight.
Having began his career at 108 lbs the Japanese banger went on to claim titles at super-flyweight, junior-bantamweight champion and bantamweight.
The heavy-handed 28-year-old has flown under the radar having campaigned at the lighter weights.
But beating fighting legend Nonito Donaire in the World Boxing Super Series final had everyone sitting up and taking notice.

    6 Teofimo Lopez
Lopez became lightweight world champ in only his 15th bout – three fights before Mayweather – as he knocked out Richard Commey for the IBF belt in December 2019.
The 24 year old was still rightfully an outsider against masterful southpaw Lomachenko in October 2020, where all the titles were at stake.
But Lopez silenced the doubters and became an overnight sensation, knocking the P4P No1 off his perch.
It also made him only the fifth man – behind Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, Terence Crawford and Oleksandr Usyk – to hold all four undisputed titles.

    7 Tyson Fury
The Gypsy King completed the most memorable of journeys back to the top when he battered Deontay Wilder to be crowned WBC heavyweight champ.
Even at his heaviest back in the boxing ring, Fury moves like the wind and is several steps ahead of his opponent before a punch is even thrown.
Fury is still undefeated as a pro – 30 wins and one draw, with 21 KOs.
He has his trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder on October 4 – and providing he gets through that, all eyes will switch to FINALLY getting him in the ring against AJ.
Tyson Fury will rematch Deontay Wilder on October 9Credit: PA
    8 Vasiliy Lomachenko
Leaving the amateur game with a record of 396-1 – with the one loss to Albert Selimov later avenged – the simple question was could the boxing maestro transcend his skill-set to 12 rounds.
An early loss to Orlando Salido – for the WBO featherweight title in Lomachenko’s second pro fight – was a clear reminder that the unpaid ranks are a completely different game.
But after being roughed up and out-muscled by a veteran and overweight Salido, Loma became the quickest three-weight world champion in history.
A contentious points defeat by Lopez saw the proud Ukrainian take a hit and he is desperate for the rematch.
But he bounced back brilliant, completely outclassing Masayoshi Nakatani before KO’ing the Japanese fighter in the ninth
Lomachenko is back to winning waysCredit: Getty Images – Getty
    9 Oleksandr Usyk
Usyk reigned as undisputed cruiserweight king having won the WBSS – which involved all the divisions belts – and has now stamped his authority at heavyweight.
His nimble footwork, consistent punching rate and heavy hands made him no match for anyone at 200lbs – with his most high-profile win coming against Tony Bellew in Manchester.
The Ukrainian maestro hasn’t had it all his own way at heavyweight – notable Derek Chisora caused him all sorts of problems.
And now next up is Joshua on September 24 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
If he hands the Brit his second defeat and snatches the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles, he would have every chance to be rivalling Canelo at the top of this list.
Oleksand Usyk is bidding to become a two-weight world champCredit: Getty
    10 Artur Beterbiev
Russian powerhouse Beterbiev cemented his place as the man at 175lbs after stopping Oleksandr Gvozdyk to add the WBC title to his IBF belt and then defending those against Adam Deines.
The now unified light-heavyweight puncher stayed resilient in the Eastern European affair and kept his 100 per cent KO rate intact.
A unification clash against WBA ruler Dmitry Bivol has now been mentioned in what would be another clash of two heavy hitters.
But a potential meeting with Kovalev or even Canelo would do more to enhance Beterbiev’s already scary profile.
