Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson jokes he is ‘always hungry’ after dramatic NINE STONE weight loss for boxing bout

HAFTHOR BJORNSSON joked he is ‘always hungry’ after dramatically losing NINE STONE on his boxing journey. The Game of Thrones star weighed as heavy as 32 STONE while competing in strongman.

But for his last fight, against arm wrestler Devon Larratt, Bjornsson scaled 23 stone, revealing his huge body transformation.
The super-heavyweight has had to drastically cut the calories as part of his switch to boxing where he will eventually fight rival Eddie Hall.
Bjornsson told SunSport: “I’m training more in boxing than I did for strongman.
“I’m in the gym more because of all of the conditioning work, there’s a lot of conditioning work.
“I’m boxing like six times a week, sparring three times a week, then I’m running like five times a week.
“There’s a lot of different training styles, in the gym like two times a day but that’s just what you do, so that’s the biggest difference.

“And the diet too, there’s a few changes in the diet, not eating nearly as much, in strongman I used to eat a lot.
“It was all about eating every two-three hours, big meals, while here I’m almost always hungry and always like to eat more.
“The diet and the training are the biggest change in the two sports.”
Bjornsson, 32, called out Hall, 33, in May 2020 after he broke the Brit’s 501kg deadlift record.
Ever since, the pair have dropped the weights and picked up gloves to prepare for a spectacle billed as ‘the heaviest boxing match in history’.
Reign Total Body Fuel ambassador Bjornsson has had three tune-up exhibition bouts in preparation for the grudge match with Hall in March.
They were against Irish cruiserweight Steven Ward, 31, English heavyweight Simon Vallily, 36, and most recently Canadian Larratt, 46.

Bjornsson, known as ‘Thor’, shocked even himself as he weighed in a career-low but does not expect to drop any size.
He said: “I was actually surprised how light I was.
“I was on the scales at the weigh-ins, I was 147kilos if I remember right, rather light in my opinion, but that’s fine, completely fine.
“I think being somewhere around that is good for me, I doubt that I will drop more but you never know, I’m not really too worried about my body weight.
“I’m just trying to train the way I’m doing and if that means I’m going to lose more weight, then so be it.
“But I doubt that I will, because I’ve lost a lot of weight so far.”

Hafþór Björnsson is a Reign ambassador, he will fight Eddie Hall in March 2022. For more information, please visit http://reignbodyfuel.com/en-gb #ReadyToReign More

Oleksandr Usyk planning to spend time with wife and kids after smashing Anthony Joshua as he arrives back to Ukraine

OLEKSANDR USYK was given a hero’s welcome as he arrived back home in Ukraine – where he will now settle down with his family. The masterful southpaw star returned to his homeland as the new unified heavyweight champion after a 12 round clinic against Anthony Joshua.

Usyk, 34, was mobbed by fans and reporters as he stopped to give autographs as well as pose for pictures.
Despite the fanfare, the only thing on Usyk’s mind was getting home to his wife Yekaterina and three children, Kyrylo, Mykhailo and Yelizaveta.
He said: “I just want to live. I want to take my kids to school, I want to plant trees, water the apple trees and see my wife more often.
“I spent three months in training camp, I wish I could spend more time with my wife.
“I just want to live — I really don’t care what the critics say. There will always be people criticising. I know what I am doing.
“If I am running I don’t stop until I stop. If I’m swimming I’m not stopping until I nearly drown.
“I am working very hard so I really don’t care what people say or think about me.”

Joshua, 31, has already confirmed plans to exercise his right to an immediate rematch.
He did so in 2019 after shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr, 32, and travelled to Saudi Arabia six months later to reclaim his belts.
Revenge this time will not be so easy and Usyk called to have the rematch in front of Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk’s 70,000-seater home.
He said: “I would love to have the rematch at Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev.”
But promoter Eddie Hearn admitted Joshua’s date with destiny is likely to be back at home in front of AJ’s British faithful.
Hearn said: “We will work together to maximise (the income), Ukraine is very unlikely.
“I think it will be international or the UK, I would think it would be in the UK.”

Anthony Joshua incredibly says Oleksandr Usyk fight WASN’T toughest of his career as he plans to trigger rematch clause

ANTHONY JOSHUA insists Oleksandr Usyk wasn’t the toughest opponent of his career – despite having his heavyweight titles ripped away from him.Joshua’s second reign as unified heavyweight champ came to an end on Saturday night courtesy of a masterful performance from the Ukrainian.

AJ was outboxed from the outset but is adamant slick southpaw Usyk wasn’t the hardest test of his amateur and professional careers.
When asked if he thought Ukrainian was the hardest fight of his career, Joshua replied: “No, no way.
“Because it wasn’t too much physical. But I lost anyway. So it wasn’t the toughest.”
Joshua, 31, is champing at the bit to avenge his second professional defeat and become a three-time heavyweight champ of the world.
A dejected AJ said: “What went wrong? I just took a loss, I could not see from the 9th round, my eye was shut but it was a good experience.
“In adversity, you have to learn to control yourself, it was the first time it had happened to me, I was only looking out of one eye.

“I want it 100 per cent it was a good 12 rounder and it will help me get better.”
Two-weight world champion Usyk, 34, is hoping to make the first defence of his new titles on home soil.
Joshua is more than willing to take the fight on enemy territory, saying: “Yeah, of course. Anywhere.
“Wherever the opportunity is. As I said, anywhere. Wherever the opportunity may be. I would love to just compete again.
“I’ll speak to the promotion and the management team.”

Having shared the ring with Usyk for 12 rounds, Joshua is confident of getting the better of his fellow London 2012 Olympian in their rematch.
He said: “Just being a quick learning. Understanding the positive from the negative.
“If you look at it from a negative point of view, you’re never going to have that mindset that you can make a difference because you’re down anyway.
“But if you look at it from a positive point of view, and realise, ‘Yeah, I took a loss.
“‘But that’s a lesson, that’s a blessing. I can use it as fuel to get better.

“‘And use it as fuel to right my wrongs.’ You can only get better from there.
“So I’m not gonna hold myself down from the mistake I made, I’m only gonna uplift myself and say, ‘Actually, you know what? That was a tough fight.
“‘But from that fight, I’m gonna go away, get my notepad out and find ways to improve.”

Conor McGregor says Nate Diaz’s boxing skills are ‘p***’ compared to brother Nick and goads rival by saying ‘I made you’

CONOR McGREGOR said Nate Diaz’s boxing skills are ‘p***’ compared to brother Nick’s and goaded ‘I made you’ to his rival. McGregor was full of praise for Nick, who made his UFC return after six years out but was beaten in round three by Robbie Lawler.

Up until the stoppage, the Stockton veteran had put on a ruthless display of boxing, landing combinations and body shots.
McGregor, who lost and then beat Nick’s younger brother Nate in 2016, praised the former Strikeforce champion online.
But he also used the opportunity to throw out a dig at old rival Nate, fuelling speculation of a trilogy bout between them.
McGregor, 33, tweeted: “Nate your boxing is p*** compare to nicks. We been fed garbage with your sloppy shots the last few years.
“Can see the clear difference between the two brothers after last night. Balance, composure. Another level the big bro is on to you. I made you.”
Nate, 36, became the first man to ever beat McGregor when he filled in on under two week’s notice at UFC 196.

But the result was avenged five months later in a five-round classic at UFC 202, leaving a trilogy decider evading fans ever since.
Nate most recently lost to British welterweight Leon Edwards, 30, but wants to return in December.
McGregor meanwhile is nursing a broken tibia suffered against Dustin Poirier, 32, in July.
Poirier, who was first beaten by the Irishman in 2014, knocked him out in the rematch in January and won the trilogy by doctor stoppage.
McGregor is hoping to make a comeback next year having undergone surgery on the injury.

Anderson Silva’s coach says UFC legend wants to fight Floyd Mayweather and predicts ‘it would break all PPV records’

ANDERSON SILVA wants to fight Floyd Mayweather and ‘break all pay-per-view records’, his coach said. The Brazilian was last year released from the UFC and decided to instead continue his career in the ring.

Floyd Mayweather came out of retirement to face YouTuber Logan Paul
It has seen Silva, 46, beat ex-boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez, 35, and knock out fellow MMA legend Tito Ortiz, 46.
But now the UFC middleweight icon wants to jump to the top of the sport and challenge one of boxing’s best ever, 50-0 Mayweather.
Silva’s trainer Luiz Dorea told AG Fight: “I think the one fight that should happen was between Floyd Mayweather and Anderson Silva.
“One of the greatest boxing athletes against one of the greatest MMA in the world.
“Floyd faced Logan Paul, who doesn’t have that much experience in boxing, in an exhibition match. I think I could have a deal.
“These fights against YouTubers can happen too, because Anderson wants something that motivates him. We will have good news soon.”

Mayweather, 44, officially retired as a professional in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 33, in ten rounds.
But only this June he returned for an exhibition bout against YouTuber Logan Paul, 26, which ended without a winner after no KO was scored.
Mayweather had no problems in giving away TWO STONE to Paul, who later survived all eight rounds.
And Silva now wants to prize the American back into the ring, and smash the 4.6m PPV record he shares after his 2015 win over Manny Pacquiao, 42.
Dorea said: “It’s my wish and his. We have great respect for Floyd Mayweather and he is one of the greatest boxing athletes in history.
“He tested himself against a YouTuber heavier than him, so why not Anderson Silva? It would break all pay-per-view records.
“We would like to do. It has everything to do.”

Joshua, 31, is set to exercise the rematch clause placed in his contract to face the Ukrainian, who is hoping to make his first title defence on home soil.
The 34-year-old said: “I would love to have the rematch at Olympiyskiy Stadium in Kiev.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn, however, believes the second instalment of Usyk vs Joshua will likely take place in UK again.
The Matchroom Boxing chief said: “We will work together to maximise (the income), Ukraine is very unlikely.
“I think it will be international or the UK, I would think it would be in the UK.”
Hearn then told IFL TV: “We’ll sit down with Alex [Krassyuk] and Egis [Klimas] and we’ll work out where the fight is going to make sense, generate the most money, create the most interest. All kinds of things.

“AJ don’t care where it is. He’d much rather do it in London, but we’ll have to see.
“Usyk’s the champ, this is his night. Great guy, great team, they deserve it.”
Despite being outclassed by Usyk, Joshua is hellbent on settling the score with his fellow London 2012 Olympian.
After the fight, a dejected AJ said: “What went wrong?
“I just took a loss, I could not see from the 9th round, my eye was shut but it was a good experience.

“In adversity, you have to learn to control yourself, it was the first time it had happened to me, I was only looking out of one eye.
“I want it 100 per cent it was a good 12 rounder and it will help me get better.”
And Hearn believes the former two-time unified heavyweight champ has to grasp the opportunity to reclaim the belts with both hands.

He said: “If he does not take the immediate rematch he might never get a chance to fight for them again.
“I don’t see another option, he will not want a 10 rounder at the O2 and he should be commended for that.
“That’s what he does, he wants to be remembered as that kind of fighter.”

Logan Paul claims he would have KO’d Floyd Mayweather if exhibition was 12 rounds and says legend was ‘breathing heavy’

LOGAN PAUL has claimed he would’ve knocked out Floyd Mayweather if their showdown was a 12-rounder.The YouTuber turned boxer locked horns with the five-weight world champion in an exhibition match in Miami in June – going the full eight rounds with the Money Man.

But he reckons he would’ve KO’d the Money man if their clash was longer than eight roundsCredit: GETTY
But Paul, 26, believes he would’ve had handed Mayweather his first stoppage loss if they shared the ring for a few more rounds.
The elder Paul brother told the True Geordie, he said: “My conditioning is f***ing good, bro.
“If the fight went 10 or 12 rounds, I think I would knock him out. I say that in full conviction.”
The Maverick believes Mayweather was fatigued at the end of the final round.
He continued: “I saw him breathing heavy for the first time that eighth round and it was because I had been leaning on him.
“I’m 30 pounds heavier. Like no matter how you cut it, me leaning on a guy that size is gonna get him tired no matter how good he is.

“I was coming alive too. That’s what we trained for, we sparred for 12 rounds. I’m probably throwing 120 punches by the 12th round.
“My conditioning is good, I had a little ‘uhh’ in the fourth round then second wind came in.”
Paul is eager to return to the squared circle, saying last month: “I have to.
“This is the coolest thing on the planet. You think about the Roman Colosseum, when you watch the gladiators fight to the death.
“Look around. My brother filled this arena up in Cleveland, Ohio, his home city. It’s the coolest thing anyone could ever ask for.

“I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Fighters, bro, modern-day gladiators. There is no more dangerous athlete.
“When the fighter walks in the room, everyone feels it. He’s got a presence. And it’s cool, I love it.
“I love the sport, I love entertaining. And honestly, I’m f***ing good, bro.”
