Anthony Joshua next fight: When is Oleksandr Usyk rematch, where will the fight be held?

ANTHONY JOSHUA lost the defence of his unified world titles to master boxer Oleksandr Usyk – but now AJ wants revenge. Just like the Olympic gold medallist did after his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019, Joshua wants to right his wrong by facing the Ukrainian in a rematch.

Usyk outpointed and largely outclassed a game Joshua in front of 70,000 fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend to win the WBA, WBO, IBF & IBO world titles.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn admitted after that his client boxed nowhere near to the ability he would do in a potential rematch.
AJ, meanwhile, said the fight was a learning experience in the post-fight news conference, vowing to gain his vengeance on Usyk.
When will Joshua vs Usyk 2 happen?
Though Joshua vs Usyk was months in the making and over in 36 minutes, we’re already talking about a rematch between the pair.
As is the standard practice with all AJ fights, the Brit has a rematch clause inserted into his contract should he lose, just like he did with Andy Ruiz Jr two years ago.
And Joshua comfortably lost to Usyk, who solidified himself as an all-time great with his win on Saturday night.
Eddie Hearn confirmed there will be a rematch between Joshua and Usyk

Usyk won the undisputed titles at cruiserweight and is just Tyson Fury’s WBC belt away from doing the same at heavyweight, a feat which would be unmatched by anyone in the sport’s long history.
But Joshua will get the chance to win his belts back, according to Eddie Hearn, who believes next February or March would be an appropriate tine to deliver the sequel.
“He has got the chance in February or March of next year to become the unified world heavyweight champion,” Hearn told iFL TV.
“Forget that he lost it yesterday (Saturday), that is the opportunity that has presented itself and that is a blessing. So we take that with both hands.”
Where will Joshua vs Usyk 2 take place?
Despite Hearn’s claims that a rematch can take place in February or March, he suggested open-air stadiums as venue options for the fight.
“Very likely to happen in the UK, but we’ll sit down and look at the options,” he added.
“There will be approaches to do it elsewhere. (But) after Saturday, the pluses and minuses of Saturday, I mean, have you ever seen anything like that? How good was it? Have you ever seen anything like that?
“So I’d like to do it in England again. Maybe at Spurs, maybe at Wembley, maybe at the Emirates. They’ll be approaches to do it elsewhere but I don’t see any reason to take it outside of England.”

Usyk said in the post-fight news conference he was eager for the second fight to be held in the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine.
“I would love to have the rematch at Olympiyskiy Stadium in Kiev,” said the new unified champ.
But Hearn also said: “We will work together to maximise (the income), Ukraine is very unlikely.
“I think it will be international or the UK, I would think it would be in the UK.” More

Woodley, 39, posted a picture of his alleged new tattoo on Twitter on Monday – and Hardy was quick to respond.
The Brit, 39, tweeted: “So you left out the ‘love’ part and it’s written in pen? Well played.
“It looks like a tattoo your friend did when you were both drunk.
“An embarrassing tattoo is one thing, but a bad embarrassing tattoo is a whole other.”
Hardy competed in UFC between 2008 and 2012, winning 25 and losing 10 of his 36 professional MMA bouts.
The retired fighter challenged once for the welterweight UFC title, losing to Canadian Georges St-Pierre in March 2010.

Hardy never did fight Woodley but the two have made up for the lost time with the American responding: “Your UFC career is embarrassing.
“Your claim to fame is you got stomped by GSP and didn’t die. Everything was by design. I’ll keep setting trends while you tweet.”
Woodley claims to have got the tattoo after he and Paul, 24, agreed the loser of their August pay-per-view scrap would get inked.
The UFC icon is keen for a rematch with the YouTuber and has accused him of being ‘scared to fight’.
Paul is yet to respond to Woodley’s alleged tattoo and claims he’ll post a video in regards to the ink on Tuesday.
Hardy later replied to Woodley again, tweeting: “You’re trending because you’ve got Jake Paul tattooed on your finger.
“Well done. Congratulations on your championship success.
“I remember the crowds booing in appreciation as you wore your heel out against the fence, backing up and avoiding the fight.”
Woodley then replied: “Belts and titles. Things you dreamed of. They cheered as you were carried out on a stretcher.
“Champs now were in diapers last time you fought. Keep living your dream on the bag in your garage. From Outlaw to Uber driver.”
The row ended with Hardy adding: “We’re the same age, you fool.
“It’s just that I was competing in the UFC a bit earlier, during the reign of the greatest welterweight champion of all time. You came after.”

OLEKSANDR USYK is already flexing his muscles as the new heavyweight champion by saying he wants to face the winner of Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder. The Ukrainian claimed the WBA, WBO and IBF belts from Anthony Joshua in a stunning unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Saturday.

Fury faces Wilder in their trilogy bout at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena next month with the WBC belt on the line.
Joshua’s camp immediately signalled they would trigger a rematch clause but Usyk already has his sights set on a unification fight – once the Brit is taken care of again.
He said: “We can talk about consolidation of all the belts only after Tyson Fury (faces) Deontay Wilder, and they determine the champion, and after our re-match with Anthony (Joshua).
“Of course I would like very much to have this consolidation match because in the super heavy-weight it didn’t happen for some 30 years if I’m not mistaken.
“I don’t want to wait for two or three years, it’s a very long time to wait.

“At the moment I have four belts, three main ones WBA, WBO, and IBF, and the fourth one IBO, which is not the main belt.
“The main forth belt has Tyson Fury at the moment.”
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has already indicated he wants a rematch in February or March next year somewhere in the UK.
Usyk suggested he wants to fight in front of home fans in Ukraine but his manager Alexander Krassyuk at least confirmed early next year as the likely date.
He said: “Those approximate dates which Eddie Hearn announced at the press conference after the match, that this is February, March, these are the correct dates.”

And he even claimed to have taken money out of his own purse from his last fight to contribute to increasing the money given to undercard fighters.
Bellator welterweight MVP admitted it is no wonder ex-MMA champions are crossing over to the boxing ring in search of a bigger payday.
He told Sky Sports: “Yeah, I’m a massive supporter of what he’s doing there, and I completely agree with him on that side.
“Why is it that fighters are so eager to then jump ship? It’s because we’re not being paid what we should be paid in our thing
“This is why he’s completely right. Nobody would entertain these kind of fights, if we were being treated the way we should be treated.”
Paul, 24, won his professional debut against online rival ‘AnEsonGib in January and 11 months later knocked out ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37.

His last two fights have been against former UFC fighters Ben Askren, 37, which ended in another KO and a points decision over Tyron Woodley, 39.
Venom Page, 34, who is 2-0 as a boxer, tipped Woodley to beat Paul and is now ready to instead get the job done himself.
He said: “These kind of stuff is it’s annoying, I get why it’s happening. Obviously, business-wise, a lot of money that’s drawn in.
“But, I thought Tyron Woodley was going to correct this whole crazy world that we’re living in right now.
“Just to correct the world, I would definitely jump in and just knock him out, shake his hand afterwards and say, ‘Continue doing what you’re doing.’
“Yeah, I just need to prove to everyone that this is nonsense.”
I would definitely jump in and just knock him out, shake his hand afterwards and say, ‘Continue doing what you’re doing.’ Michael Venom Page on Jake Paul
Venom Page is unbeaten in his last five MMA fights, losing just once in his career, against Douglas Lima in 2019.
He now rematches Lima, 33, on Friday and has the chance to avenge the loss in front of his home crowd at Wembley Arena in London.
Venom Page said: “It’s been two years, so I’m definitely excited I think it’s amazing that it’s actually happening, I’ve got it in the hometown.
“I feel a lot of my supporters were with me on this journey, When I lost that fight, it hurt them just as much.
“And now they have the ability to come and witness the redemption.”

Tyson Fury’s promoter urges Anthony Joshua to step aside from Oleksandr Usyk rematch to allow undisputed title fight

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been urged by Tyson Fury’s promoter to step aside from his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk to allow for an undisputed title fight. It would see Fury, should he beat Deontay Wilder on October 9, then face Usyk for all the heavyweight belts.

Meanwhile, Joshua could keep busy with an interim fight while being contractually promised the winner between Fury and Usyk.
Bob Arum told iFL TV: “I think Joshua would be well off if somehow we was able to take another couple of fights before the rematch with Usyk.
“If people were sensible, Joshua would work out an agreement, if Tyson Fury is successful with Wilder, to allow Usyk to fight Tyson Fury.
“And to have each fighter contractually agree in his next fight, whether it’s Usyk or Tyson Fury, again should Tyson Fury beat Wilder, to fight [Joshua].
“That’s sensible, but again, this is boxing and promoters with egos and fighters not making, in my opinion, the correct decision.
“But really making fights based on emotion.”

Fury, 33, tried a similar trick after he entered talks to fight Joshua, 31, in the summer, all while Deontay Wilder, 35, was owed a rematch.
Eventually, a US arbitrator ruled in favour of Wilder, who was beaten by the Gypsy King in 2020 but contracted to a trilogy bout.
They are now set to fight next month, while Joshua is made to plot revenge after surrendering the unified belts to Usyk, 34.
AJ has already confirmed plans to exercise his right to an immediate rematch, much like he did against Andy Ruiz Jr, 32, in 2019.
But Arum has accused rival promoter Eddie Hearn of being short sighted by not allowing Usyk to unify the division and wait it out to face the winner.
He said: “Eddie Hearn being Eddie Hearn, was all ego, won’t listen to something that makes sense.
“He will push, in my opinion, which he can legally, the rematch with Usyk and that will be an additional defeat on Joshua’s record.
“And prevent him from what I think will be a massive fight, and the way it should be against the unified champion.
“Usyk fights Tyson Fury – or Wilder – and [Joshua] fight the winner. Then we’re into something that the public can make sense of.”

Top ten heavyweight rankings updated by Ring Magazine as Usyk overtakes Anthony Joshua into second with Tyson Fury top

OLEKSANDR USYK has shot up in the world heavyweight leaderboard following his stunning victory over Anthony Joshua.Ring Magazine’s rankings of the world’s top fighters now has the Ukrainian second to only Tyson Fury.

Both stars hold world title belts, with Fury putting his WBC crown on the line against Deontay Wilder next month.
The respected rankings have the Gypsy King ahead of Usyk, owing to his ownership of The Ring’s official belt.
Fury, 33, also boasts a 30-0-1 record and a more extensive history of heavyweight fights, with only Wilder battling to a draw in the original match-up of their trilogy series.
While Usyk, 34, has only fought three times in this category having dominated at cruiserweight.
His storming performance against Joshua in Tottenham on Saturday has launched the southpaw from tenth in last month’s rankings to the position of top challenger to Fury’s throne.

Dillian Whyte, who is staking his claim to become the mandatory WBC challenger, is fourth ahead of Joseph Parker.

Fans may soon be calling for Fury and Usyk to square up, if the Gypsy King gets past Wilder.
However, they have been warned by Roy Jones Jr to expect a boring fight.
He told DAZN: “I hope it doesn’t happen. Two boxers who don’t make for the most entertaining fight.
Anthony Joshua has dropped down The Ring’s heavyweight rankings
“We gotta keep Usyk and Fury away from each other by any means necessary. We do not want to see that.

ANDERSON SILVA has called out Floyd Mayweather and said ‘people need to respect’ Logan and Jake Paul. The Brazilian was last year released from the UFC and decided to instead continue his career in the ring.

Logan Paul in his exhibition with Floyd Mayweather
It has seen Silva, 46, beat ex-boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez, 35, and knock out fellow MMA legend Tito Ortiz, 46.
Now, he has faced calls from fans to fight Mayweather, 44, who recently faced YouTuber Logan, 26, in an exhibition bout.
Silva told The MMA Hour: “When I finished the fight with Tito and I saw on my Twitter and my Instagram, everybody talking, ‘You need to fight with Mayweather!’
“I don’t know, that’s insane. I don’t know if I can fight on the same level as Mayweather but this is a challenge for me.
“I don’t know, maybe this happens or not. I’m prepared for that. I just try to do my best everyday and I think this is a good fight, me and Mayweather.

Mayweather officially retired as a professional in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 33, in ten rounds.
But only this June he returned for an exhibition bout against Logan , 26, which ended without a winner after no KO was scored.
Mayweather had no problems in giving away TWO STONE to Paul, who later survived all eight rounds.
And Silva admitted he would take a similar size advantage in against the boxing legend.
He said: “I’m too big, but Mayweather fought with Logan Paul and I can fight, too.
“I can [weigh] 189, 190 [pounds] and fight Mayweather. Let’s go see.
“Of course this fight were to happen, it’s a show fight, not a real fight, but I think that’s good. Let’s go see.”
Silva has been in talks to fight Logan before but more recently was considered as an opponent for brother Jake’s next fight.

“I’m preparing my body. I train everyday with my coaches to do my best. I don’t know. We’ll see.”
Despite being linked with both Paul brothers, Silva admitted he has nothing against the internet sensations.
He said: “I respect both kids. Because the kids are so smart, but I prefer to stay on my side training hard and don’t say something about the kids.
