TYSON FURY always likes to leave an impression at press conferences – and it’s not always about his way with words. The WBC heavyweight champion of the world is a snazzy dresser, and often wears bespoke suits for the pre-fight mix-ups.
Fury caught the eye for his suit as well as his words
But usually the shirt is left in the dressing room.
Ahead of his trilogy scrap against Deontay Wilder this weekend, Fury donned a suit that was sure to rile the American.
Fury’s suits are designed by Claudio Lugli based in Brent Cross, where he has built a good relationship with tailor Nav Salimian.
Here Sunsport checks out that, and four other stunning press conference outfits the Morecambe mauler has shown to the world.
    BATMAN – SEPTEMBER 2015
Ahead of his brilliant schooling of Wladimir Klitschko, Fury turned into a superhero.
The Gypsy King arrived for the pre-fight presser in a yellow Lamborghini dressed as batman.
He then entered the media room and took his seat. But there was more to come.
Fury proceeded to have ‘a fight’ with a man dressed as The Joker.
Kiltschko cracked a smile as it all played out – but was clearly stunned at what went on.

    HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPS – JUNE 2019
A man proud of his fighting family, Fury is also delighted to be involved with the sport of kings.
Before his fight against little-known Tom Schwarz in 2019, Fury donned a suit showing the great heavyweights of boxing.
They were all styled like cigarette cards – all 1,900 of them.
Undoubtedly Fury will feature among those famous faces himself.
And poor Schwarz knows only too well – being knocked out by Fury in the second round.

YOU BIG DOSSER – FEBRUARY 2020
Fury affectionately labelled Wilder a ‘big dosser’ in the lead up to their contentious draw in December 2018.
And just days before he went on to exact ultimate revenge on the Bronze Bomber in February 2020, he decided to have these words imprinted on a suit.
The Gypsy King even trademarked the his favourite insult.

And in the press conference announcing their original date of July 24 for the fight, Fury wore a suit with a special meaning for the American.
It featured shots of him battering Wilder in their second bout, as well as THAT photo of of Fury wearing a crown on his ringwalk.
It was sure to get under Wilder’s skin bringing back memories of his first ever pro defeat – and a battering at that.

Fury taunted rival Deontay Wilder by wearing a stunning bespoke suit with the WBC belt all over it.
Ahead of their third fight this weekend, the two had their final press conference – and once again Fury was dressed to impress.
He wore an eye-catching suit – without a shirt – that showed Wilder what he once used to have.
Plastered all over the fabric were images of the iconic green WBC belt, which will be on the line this weekend.

Derek Chisora ranks top five heavyweights in world including Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua but NO Oleksandr Usyk

DEREK CHISORA has named his top five heavyweights in the world – but there’s no room for newly-crowned champion Oleksandr Usyk on the fan favourite’s list. The boxing world is fiercely debating the best big man on the planet following Usyk’s masterclass over Anthony Joshua last month.

Anthony Joshua is second on the list, despite his recent loss to Oleksandr Usyk
WBC king Tyson Fury is recognised by many as the best heavyweight on the planet, including by Chisora.
But War believes there’s no room in the top-five for new unified champ Usyk, who he’s ranked below Joshua, Dillian Whyte, himself and Joe Joyce.
During an appearance on BT Sport, the 37-year-old said: “No.1, for everything he’s achieved from the ups and downs, everything he’s done since the amateurs, I would go with Tyson Fury.
“Because he’s won the English title and gone on to be the best fighter on the planet and then losing control and the retiring for two years, doing his bad habits, and coming back and winning again – being one of the pound-for-pound fighters in America. So I put him there.
“At No.2, it’s not a tricky one it’s an easy one for me, I’d put my good friend AJ on number two.”
When asked by Carl Frampton how could he have Joshua as the second-best heavyweight after his latest loss, Chisora replied: “Usyk’s got the title now, yes. He’s got the titles.

“But AJ generates so much money for everybody. Everybody has fallen in love with boxing now because of AJ.
“He’s the only guy I know now, in the last 30 or 40 years, that has sold out five arenas.
“Sold out. That’s why I put him at No.2.”
He added: “That’s my opinion, that’s me. And then I’ll go with, my No.3, I’ll go with Dillian Whyte.”
After hearing Frampton’s shocked reaction to his placement of Whyte, Chisora said: “Listen, don’t worry about what I’m picking.
Who can I put at number five? I’ll put what’s his name? Joe Joyce.Derek Chisora
    “I’m picking my top five, aren’t I?
“No.4, I’ll go with myself because I’m still in the game.
“All these guys started boxing when I was in the game already.
“And at No.5, I’ll put… who can I put at number five? I’ll put what’s his name? Joe Joyce.”
Former WBA and IBF super-bantamweight champ Frampton didn’t hesitate when it came to naming his list.
How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight
The Northern Irishman said: “This is what I think: Fury, Usyk, AJ, [Deontay] Wilder and Dillian Whyte at No.5.”
Fan favourite Fury will have the opportunity to cement his status as the best heavyweight on the planet early on Sunday morning in his Las Vegas trilogy fight with Wilder.
The Wythenshawe warrior put a beating on the American 19 months ago, battering him from pillar to post until his former cornerman Mark Breland threw in the towel in the seventh round.

Tyson Fury’s shocked reaction to Dillian Whyte being installed as his mandatory next fight if he beats Deontay Wilder

TYSON FURY was left stunned after learning Dillian Whyte could potentially be his next opponent if he beats Deontay Wilder. The tasty Battle of Britain could take place next year if Fury retains his belt this weekend and Whyte gets past Otto Wallin later this month.

The Gypsy King was left shocked when he heard the news of the WBC mandateCredit: REUTERS
That’s because the WBC have ordered the winner of Fury vs Wilder to face the interim titleholder if they can’t, within 30 days, finalise an undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk, who is contractually obliged to give Anthony Joshua a rematch.
Fury, 33, said: “That’s something I’ve not been told or am even interested in right now.
“I’ve got Deontay Wilder to deal with first and then we’ll sit down and make a decision on what’s next.”
The WBC’s mandate came in the same week The Gypsy King’s co-promoter revealed he’d be open to making a fight with Whyte.
He told iFL TV: “That could be a big, big fight for Tyson, particularly if we held it in the UK.
“That is not out of the question, Dillian Whyte is a capable heavyweight and a fight against Tyson Fury or Wilder [or] whoever wins would be a very interesting fight.”

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
But the veteran promoter reckons the Jamaican-born Brit to lose to come up short in his title eliminator.
He told iFL TV: “Last time he was mandatory, he fought Povetkin and got knocked on his ass.
“I look for Wallin to clearly beat Whyte, so I’m not even taking it into consideration.”
Whyte is refusing to get his hopes up over a potential grudge match with Fury, keeping his focus on getting past the tough and durable Wallin.
The Body Snatcher said: “Tyson Fury hasn’t spoken to anyone from my team about any fight.
“If he was serious, he would have sent emails or phone calls and we’d have been talking.
How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight
“If he was serious I would probably have even waited for him and not fought until December.
“But these fights are big fights, big fights don’t get made in one or two months.
‘There’s a lot of things that need to happen.”

Who is Kate Abdo, and why did the DAZN & Fox boxing presenter leave Sky Sports News?

KATE ABDO is becoming the face of PPV boxing Stateside. The British broadcaster left her role at Sky Sports in 2015 to join FOX in the US and is now fronting DAZN’s coverage online.
Kate Abdo is just as at home anchoring boxing as she is football
At Sky, Abdo hosted the pay-per-view boxing events, Champions League Football, as well as Sky Sports News coverage, including Deadline Day.
But after being loaned to Fox to help cover the Women’s World Cup, she ended up joining permanently in 2017.
The Manchester-born star relocated to America to host their Champions League, Europa League, World Cup, FA Cup, and Bundesliga coverage.
Abdo also helped cover Premier Boxing Champions including their ‘Inside PBC Boxing’ on Fox.
But after Fox lost MLS rights and the cancellation of ‘Inside PBC’, Abdo left the American broadcasters.
She then came back to the UK to work for CBS Sports as the host of the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, according to Wikipedia.
Abdo did return to cover boxing, however, as she worked for DAZN in Texas to cover Canelo Alvarez’s fight against Callum Smith.
Most recently, however, Abdo has been working with Fox again on Tyson Fury’s upcoming fight with Deontay Wilder.
Abdo was also involved in some controversy on Wednesday when she hosted the pre-fight press conference.
Promoter Bob Arum launched a scathing attack in which he shouted ‘f*** her!’ after Abdo prompted Fury and Wilder to face off with each other after the news conference.
Arum immediately jumped out of his chair to stop the face-off from happening, before criticising Abso backstage.
Abdo responded this morning, calling Arum’s remarks ‘entirely inappropriate’. More

Deontay Wilder names three best KOs… and includes Tyson Fury who he says should have been counted out in first fight

DEONTAY WILDER has named his three best ever knockouts – with bitter rival Tyson Fury bizarrely making the list. The Bronze Bomber has his shot at redemption against the Brit this Saturday as the pair clash for the third time.

Wilder was destroyed by Fury during their second fight as he lost his WBC Title to the Gypsy King – but he is adamant his foe should have been counted out in their first showdown.
In December 2018 Fury survived two knockdowns to claim a draw against Wilder – with many believing he had done enough to WIN the fight.
The one in the 12th round was particularly brutal, with Fury miraculously getting back to his feet and finishing the round stronger.
Fury of course got his revenge in their 2020 rematch by crushing Wilder in seven rounds.
But before that fight, when asked by ESNews what his three ‘coldest knockouts’ were, Wilder, 35, answered: “Bermane Stiverne II.
“I transformed there, I had an outer experience, it was so crazy. [Artur] Szpilka was another one.

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
“And the two knockouts with Fury, because I definitely knocked his ass out. It was amazing but I didn’t get the creditability.”
Stiverne managed to survive the full 12 rounds to lose on points against Wilder in 2015 before being blasted out in the first round of their 2017 rematch.
Szpilka was KO’d in round nine in 2016 against the Bronze Bomber.
WBC champ Fury, 33, met the American for the first time since he battered him on Thursday in Las Vegas and confronted him over his claims the Brit cheated last time out.
And at the pre-fight press conference – when Wilder was given the chance to retract and apologise – he doubled down on the claims, leaving Fury raging.
The Gypsy King fumed: “I don’t care, because it is coming from an unwell person.
“He blamed me, his trainer, his costume, the referee, the commission, one [excuse] might have been believable but not 50.
How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight
“It just tells me he is a mentally weak little person who I am going to beat again.
“I obliterated him in the rematch and he is getting it again.”
Wilder insists Fury robbed him with a range of scams – but he still felt the need to change up his training team and employ new coach Malik Scott.
He now reckons he has rebuilt himself for the trilogy and has vowed violent revenge on Saturday.
He said: “I don’t regret the claims I made and I will go to my grave believing it because I have confirmation and clarity.
“Men and women lie but the eyes can’t, the eyes don’t lie.
“I am now a better man and fighter because of what I have learned and know.
“The truth sets you free so there is no pressure on me, it’s all on him, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. My energy is like my mind, it is very violent.”

Inside family company Sartonk, who make amazing boxing belts for likes of Mayweather, Tyson and Canelo in New Jersey

FROM a tiny warehouse in Union City, New Jersey the ultimate accessory for the world’s best boxers are painfully handcrafted.US company Sartonk are responsible for creating the amazing looking WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO championship belts.

Their story started 45 years ago, when Romanian immigrant Ardash Sahaghian began working at an uptown jewellery shop.
He was asked by his jeweller boss Phil Valentino if he would be interested in making belts for the emerging boxing organisations.
The first belt he made was a reproduction of a classic Rocky Marciano championship belt from the 1950s.
In the mid-70s, as boxing bodies were established, Sahaghian was then commissioned for nearly every belt.
In 2017, after dedicating his life to his craft, he passed away at the age of 95 – five years after he was inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame as boxing’s master craftsman
Now, it’s his grandson Edward Majian who handles Sartonk’s production line. This is their incredible story.
    THE GOLDEN PERIOD
Sahaghian, who is of Armenian descent, had a tough existence in Romania.
After he was tortured in a Communist prison camp in his homeland, he eventually fled with his wife, Nazeli to South Africa and Brazil, before settling in the United States.
There, he became a shoemaker, leather craftsman and toolmaker. All would put him in good stead for his future career as belt connoisseur.
It was at a jewellery shop owned by Paul Valentino Sr, a boxing fan with ties in the sport who was already designing belts for boxers, he would find his calling.
Critical Sahaghian wasn’t keen on Valentino’s designs and told his boss he could do better.

“Take the key. You make what you like,” Sahaghian recalled Valentino telling him in an interview with NJ.com before his death.
Between the 1970s all the way through to the 1990s, Sahaghian contributed to boxing’s golden period when it came to championship belt design.
His work was worn on the waists and shoulders of great champions including Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao.
Most recently, it’s Mexican brawler Canelo Alvarez who is decorated with Sahaghian’s WBA, WBC, and WBO belts.
And despite losing his titles to Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua kept his belts designed by Sartonk.
The Ukrainian fighter was seen returning them to AJ after the fight, and will now receive his own. Each fight, once they become a champ, has the belt as a keepsake for their journey to the top.
“He really revolutionised how championship belts were made,” president of the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame, Henry Hascup revealed.
”He’s the modern inventor or designer of these belts. He takes great pride in his product.”
    HANDING ON THE BATON
Enjoying near anonymity, Sahaghian worked tirelessly well into his 90s in a small concrete floor workspace
He turned up five days a week, while his wife painted the belt medallions on her kitchen table.
But it was his grandson Edward Majian who knew he had to protect Sahaghian’s legacy.

The business was renamed Sartonk to protect Sahaghian’s legacyCredit: Instagram / @sartonk
In 2009, the business became Sartonk – derived from the Armenian word Zartonk which means ‘rebirth’.
The ‘Z’ was changed to an ‘S’ in honour of Sahaghian.
Majian, who had shadowed his grandad in the studio for so long, took over the mantle.
And the quality hasn’t been allowed to slip, either.
    HANDMADE
The belts, themselves, are usually 44 inches long and weigh between three to four kilograms – with Majian keeping a close eye on proceedings and his small workforce.
An old but reliable Singer sewing machine is used to create the intricate stitching and designs.
However, they begin life as a mould made of organic rubber – and look more like a film reel tin than a championship boxing belt.
“The currency we work in is our craftsmanship and the respect we have for these fighters,” Majian said.
“Boxing is the sport of the oppressed. These fighters are not coming out of gated communities. For many, boxing has saved their lives.”
Majian refers to the belts as “devotional art” –  gold-plated and crystal-studded to honour the warriors that wear them.
“We’re creating symbols of victory and triumph,” Majian revealed.
“We all have this Rocky inside us, waiting to be unleashed.
The belts are handcrafted by Majian and his teamCredit: Instagram / @sartonk

“I’m often confronted by angry boxing fans who say there are too many belts.
“But each one of these belts is something to aspire to, something you work for.”
And you can bet the next time a boxer wins one, that’s precisely how they will look at it too.

Tyson Fury says ‘I’d have NUTTED the c***’ if face-off with Deontay Wilder happened at final press conference

TYSON FURY says he would have ‘nutted the c***’ had he gone head-to-head with Deontay Wilder in their final press conference. In a heated debate the two heavyweights traded insults throughout.

But they were kept apart at the end as the traditional face-off was binned.
And that prevented some proper violence, according to the reigning WBC champ.
Asked by iFL why he didn’t stand toe-to-toe with Wilder, the Gypsy King said: “Because Frank Warren was thinking I was going to chin him.
“I wouldn’t have chinned him, I would have just nutted the c***, like that”, before showing the camera how.
Fury’s boxing promoter Bob Arum claims he ‘saved the fight’ after stepping in to make sure his client did not face-off with Wilder.
Arum, 89, was incensed with broadcaster Fox Sports and presenter Kate Abdo for suggesting the two fighters were going to come together.

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
According to Arum in his rant after the press conference, both Fox and Abdo knew a face-off was never going to be part of the press conference – and he clamied Abdo was out of order for bringing it up.
Arum even shouted out from the crowd “Not a good idea!” when Abdo raised the prospect.
However she then quickly changed her mind – suggesting it was Arum’s intervention which prevented the face-off happening.
That annoyed the promoter, who said: “They bring this woman in from the UK and she’s slanting all the press conference to Wilder.
“Like I don’t give a damn, but it’s obvious what she was doing!
“And then, she knew that the understanding was: no face-off. Tom Brown argued with Fox, no face-off.
“We said, “No face-off”. What does she say? “Now we’re going to do a face-off?”

EFE AJAGBA holds the record for the fastest win in boxing history – and he fights again on the undercard for Tyson Fury’s monumental clash with Deontay Wilder.Three years ago, the Nigerian heavyweight clocked up his sixth straight win as a professional without even throwing a punch.

Efe Ajagba will aim to continue his incredible heavyweight career on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas on Saturday
In August 2018, Ajagba’s opponent Curtis Harper bizarrely walked out of the ring immediately after the opening bell.
Ajagba – who had KOd his first five victims – was left stunned as Harper was immediately disqualified.
Even Harper’s trainer, Nate Campbell, admitted he had ‘no idea’ why he walked off before a punch was thrown.
Three years on, 6ft 6in Ajagba – who is now based in the US – prepares to take on Frank Sanchez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas boasting a career record of 15-0, with 12 via KO.
And the Nigerian, 27, has revealed his powerful punching scored him a date with Fury himself for his Wilder training camp.
Never one to be overawed by the situation, Ajagba even confessed he hits HARDER than the Gypsy King.

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
Ajagba told BBC Sport Africa: “It was an explosive knockout so they brought me in because they believed I had the same knockout power like Wilder.
“Tyson Fury can hit but doesn’t come close to my power. I punch harder than Tyson Fury.
“The punches that he threw (in sparring), I could take them.
“(But) he’s been in the game for years before he became world champion. He’s fought the top guys.
“I can tell you that I’ve learned a lot from the champion; he’s very awkward, he’s a big guy, he has a long reach.
“I have a long reach too and I’m a heavy puncher but he has a lot of experience so I learned so much from him in camp.”
Ajagba went on to pile praise on Fury’s incredible movement, despite his gigantic 6ft 9in frame, saying it’s almost impossible to land a shot on the Brit.
He continued: “I have never sparred with a guy like that ever since I became a professional boxer in America.
“There’s something special about him because of the way he moves forwards and backward.
“It’s very difficult for you to get close to him because he’s always moving.
“It’s very hard for you to hit the target.”

Despite that, Ajagba is keen to fight Fury in the future as his stock continues to rise.
He said: “He’s the first top-class heavyweight that I’ve sparred with which looks good on my record.
“For the WBC heavyweight champion to spar with me, that encourages me.
“It’s great because I hope to fight him in the future but he’s not the only heavyweight that I’m going to fight.
“There are a lot of other top heavyweights out there that I’m looking forward to.”
