Canelo Alvarez reveals what started explosive brawl with Caleb Plant after leaving rival bloodied in pre-fight face-off

SAUL ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has revealed what rival Caleb Plant said to him at their pre-fight press conference. The two fighters ended up in an explosive, bloody brawl on Monday after Plant trash talked Canelo’s MUM – the latter has claimed.

But two started brawling after an alleged comment from Plant
The shock incident left the sport stunned and super-middleweight Canelo, 31, has since explained why a brawl unfolded between him and Plant, 29.
As quoted by SPORTbible, the Mexican said: “Oh, he talked about my mum.
“He said ‘you motherf**ker’ so you passed the line right there, so that’s why I pushed him and then he came back with a left hook.”
Canelo and Plant – known as ‘Sweethands’ – have agreed to meet in an undisputed super-middleweight clash in Las Vegas on November 6.
Canelo, who knocked out Brit Billy Joe Saunders in May, currently holds the WBA, WBC and WBO titles and is the favourite for the fight.
Plant, who boasts an undefeated 21-0 record, holds the only belt missing from the Mexican’s collection – the IBF crown he picked up in 2019.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1
But the American is yet to fight a boxer of Canelo’s calibre and the November clash will be his first pay-per-view bout.
In comparison, Alvarez has fought the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Gennady Golovkin and Amir Khan during his illustrious career.
Discussing the planned bout, Canelo said: “At the end of the day, this is what I want to do with my career, make history.
“These things, like becoming the first to be the unified champion at 168 pounds, is making history.
“To potentially be one of the few who holds this prestigious honor in any weight class makes me very happy.
“For my country, this would be a huge accomplishment. I want to be remembered as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.” More

AJ stepped into the ring at Tuesday’s public work-out at O2’s Indigo where Usyk entertained the crowd with a masterclass of juggling.
The Brit says he respects Usyk but warned the Ukrainian the fight at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium is all-out war.
Joshua said: “I feel strong and good. I’m mentally and physically conditioned so I should be able to handle the pressure.
“I feel like I have nothing if I don’t win this. It would not be the end of the road but I see getting a win here just the beginning.
“There is no strategy apart from winning. I will hurt someone or beat them until I get the win.
“Boxing needs this fight and the big fights, we have been Saudi and America but when I turned pro I wanted to get British boxing respected.

“We respected each other after the fight. I have met him before, in Saudi, with all due respect we are ambassadors for the sport but this is fighting, a warrior sport.
“When I watch the Durans and Haglers, we are going to war, a great fighter has a certain instinct, this is war.”

“From where we began, to the middle of the journey, the foundations we have created are phenomenal and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
“I have heard that my signature was hot property. A handshake is good enough for me, but the signature solidifies it and I’m happy where my signature is.”

Gary Neville gifts Tyson Fury bizarre painting of ‘King’ Eric Cantona featuring Man Utd icons including Fergie and Becks

GARY NEVILLE has gifted Tyson Fury a bizarre painting featuring Manchester United legends Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Alex Ferguson. Former United defender Neville conducted an interview with the WBC heavyweight champion on a Morecambe beach for an episode on The Overlap.
The weirdest present yet? 😅@GNev2’s present for @Tyson_Fury was interesting to say the least 🤣Click below to watch the full 40 minute interview on The Overlap now 📽️🍿— Sky Bet (@SkyBet) September 21, 2021

Gary Neville handed Tyson Fury this bizarre painting of Man Utd legends
And at the end of each interview on the series, the Sky Sports pundit hands out a special gift to his guests.
But Fury, 31, received the most eye-opening present yet after Neville gave him his rare painting of Cantona and Co.
The painting – of which only 130 were made – shows the Frenchman draped in a red robe holding an English flag with other United stars in the background.
Boss Fergie is dressed in a monk-like orange tunic while Becks poses alongside Gary’s brother Phil in a knights uniform.
And the painting even includes Neville himself who is looking up at Catona from below.
Neville, 46, said: “Your favourite player at United I believe was Eric Cantona and you can put this up in your house or gym.

Fury – who fights American Deontay Wilder for a third time on October 9 – jokes: “Thank you!
“You’re all like warriors having a fight somewhere.”
Neville responds: “No. It is me! I am like a peasant looking up at him, He is almost like the king.”

The 6ft9 champ told Neville during the interview last week that his bout with Anthony Joshua flopped because he faced a £58 million lawsuitfrom Deontay Wilder over a rematch.
And as a result, Joshua, 31, will now face a challenging mandatory title defence against Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tommy Fury rejects Jake Paul’s FINAL fight offer and says $1m on the table is ‘not even worth talking about’

Paul tweeted Tuesday: “Tommy ‘Fury’ has denied two abundant offers from my team.
“Timmy ‘Fury’…. this is your last offer… $1 million, eight rounds. Four more than you have ever made.
“Either step up and fight OR accept that you and your Dad don’t believe in you @tommytntfury.”
But not willing to lay down and accept the online personality’s jibe, Fury took to Instagram to have his say.
He said: “I just wanted to come on here and address a few things that Jake Paul has been saying that I have denied two offers to fight him.
“That is true, as those offers weren’t even worth addressing, and now he has come out and said that he wants to give me a $1m to fight him and I just want to say this…

BETTING SPECIAL – GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1
“To everybody out there, $1m for a fight of this magnitude is not even worth getting out of bed for, this fight is going to gross millions and millions of pounds.
“I cannot walk down the street without anybody asking me when are you fighting Jake Paul, so until you want to make a serious offer and put it on the table, we can’t think about fighting pal.”

Fury added: “This is a very smart tactic in what he is doing.
“It is used by a lot of fighters when they don’t want to fight somebody.
“It makes it out to the public that he has made plenty of offers, reached out to have the fight and I have turned it down and I don’t want the fight.

“But as I previously said, in boxing terms $1m is nothing. Especially for a fight of this size. Tomorrow or tonight is soon enough to fight. Get your figures up and we can talk.”
Paul moved to 4-0 after beating Tyron Woodley, adding to his knockout wins online rival ‘AnEsonGib, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, both 37.
Meanwhile, Fury went 7-0 and his promoter Frank Warren later confirmed talks are ongoing with Paul’s camp.

Canelo Alvarez leaves Caleb Plant with nasty cut and covered in BLOOD after vicious brawl at pre-fight press conference

CANELO ALVAREZ left Caleb Plant with a bloody gash under his eye as the pair sensationally brawled at a press conference. On Monday the pair announced they had agreed a deal to fight in Las Vegas at the beginning of November to unify the super-middleweight division.

Plant later claimed it was his sunglasses that caused the cut rather than a punchCredit: Getty Images – Getty
But the first event to publicise the massive fight descended into chaos on Tuesday in Beverly Hills.
After the pair squared up and exchanged words, Canelo suddenly pushed Plant backwards.
The 29-year-old American then threw a punch at his Mexican rival in retaliation.
But pound-for-pound king Canelo, 31, showed lightning-quick reactions to dodge the incoming hook and then lit up Plant with a stunning counter-punch that left him with a nasty cut under his right eye.
The left hand from Canelo shows just what is in store for the 21-0 Plant, who was left bloodied by the shot.
The Tenessee fighter suffered a gash under his right eye which has the potential to postpone the fight, according to ESPN reporter Mike Coppinger.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1
Naturally, fans are already going wild on social media in reaction to the brawl.
One fan commenting on Plant said: “Serves him right for trying to hit Canelo with a cheap shot. Elite head movement and counter from Canelo too.”
Another added: “Who threw the first punch? Once you do that you can’t really complain, nevertheless absolutely insane scenes I hope the fight still goes on.”
A third said: “Welp see y’all in January 2022.”

Welterweight champ Errol Spence Jr also weighed in, saying: “Damn can’t get countered like that.”
However, during a fiery press conference – in which Alvarez again became enraged after Plant brought up his past drug use – the American said he wasn’t cut from a punch, but rather his sunglasses.
He said: “It’s just a small cut. It’s from my sunglasses. I had sunglasses on. So when whatever happened, happened, it just scratched my cheek.”

Plant is not the first to test Canelo’s patience during a press conference.
After defeating Billy Joe Saunders in May Canelo’s post-fight presser was disrupted by middleweight rival Demetrius Andrade.
Canelo belittled Andrade for becoming a champion without defeating any big names, before telling the American to “Get the f*** out of here”.

Ricky Hatton demands investigation into Evander Holyfield’s defeat to Vitor Belfort and rages ‘hang your heads in shame’

BOXING legend Ricky Hatton has demanded an investigation be launched into the sanctioning of Evander Holyfield’s short-notice fight with Vitor Belfort. The former undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world returned to the ring earlier this month at the age of 58.

Holyfield – who sparked concerns with his open workout during fight week – looked a shell of his old self and was stopped inside two minutes.
Hatton was saddened to see the all-time great decimated by a man 14 years his junior and believes the Florida State Athletic Commission shouldn’t have sanctioned the fight to begin with.
He wrote in his Metro column: “I wasn’t very happy to see Evander Holyfield get knocked out in the first round at the weekend, not at all.
“The board of control in Florida needs investigating for allowing that to happen.
“I’m all for exhibitions. I’ve said I’m open to one myself, two former champions showcasing their skills one last time for the fans with the understanding that no one will get seriously hurt.
“But this was very different. It was a 58-year-old Holyfield, coming in on a week’s notice to replace Oscar De La Hoya at the very last minute.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1
“I wrote something on Instagram this week saying the people who allowed this Holyfield fight to happen should hang their heads in shame.”
Prior to his return, Holyfield had expressed an interest in having a trilogy fight with fellow legend Mike Tyson.
That fight, however, is unlikely to come to fruition given how slow and frail he looked against former UFC champ Belfort.
Hatton added: “We have to move with the times. I understand that.
“Floyd Mayweather fought Conor McGregor, then he fought [a YouTuber].
The board of control in Florida needs investigating for allowing that to happenRicky Hatton on Holyfield vs Belfort
    “Mike Tyson fought Roy Jones.
“We can get away with that. Tyson and Jones was an exhibition, both were well prepared, and the conditions were right.
“Floyd and [YouTuber] probably had some sort of understanding of what was actually going to go on in there.
“But Holyfield got put in a very bad situation by his people. Exhibitions are fine, as long as there are boundaries to protect and maintain the boxer’s health.
“This is a social media world. We have to move with the times. But I don’t care if you’re a boxing purist or a fan of YouTubers.

“If you find that entertaining, then you want to have a look in the mirror.”
Despite putting up little resistance against a reinvigorated Belfort, Holyfield believes the stoppage in their fight was premature.
He said: “I thought it was a bad call. I don’t think the referee should have stopped the fight that quick.”

Oleksandr Usyk will BEAT Anthony Joshua claims Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren – but only if fight goes the distance

OLEKSANDR USYK’S best hope of downing Anthony Joshua will come via a points decision, according to Frank Warren. The promoter, who looks after AJ’s rival Tyson Fury, has outlined his hope that the Brit wins in Tottenham on Saturday to drum up a unification battle against the Gypsy King.
Anthony Joshua is out to beat Oleksandr Usyk on SaturdayCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
Frank Warren says Usyk will have to outbox him over 12 rounds to winCredit: PA
But he does predict a positive outcome for cruiserweight king Usyk, if he can last until the end of the 12th round.
Warren told iFL TV: “[Usyk] proved it at cruiserweight.
“He was fantastic, and he’s made his mark in that weight division. He was a superb cruiserweight. He’s done everything you could ask for.
“He’s come up a weight and fought Chazz Witherspoon, went seven rounds, and he fought Derek Chisora.
“So now that he’s up there and comfortable, I don’t think he’s a natural heavyweight. I bet you if he needed to, he could probably still make cruiserweight.
“But Anthony Joshua must be the favourite for the fight. He’s the bigger guy, much bigger, and he’s a big puncher.

“Having said that, if [Joshua] doesn’t get rid of him, and if he’s still there after five or six rounds, then if it gets to the end of the fight…
“If that goes 12 rounds, I would fancy Usyk to get the decision because to get there, he’s going to have to outbox him.
“And he’s obviously a very smart operator, you know how he’s going to fight – he’s going to try and get inside and underneath AJ’s jab.
“If you can do that, you can give him a lot of problems. I hope he doesn’t though, because we want the big fight.”
A whopping 22 of Joshua’s 24 career wins have come via knockout, although he has gone deep when necessary, to secure world title fight victories over Andy Ruiz Jr and Joseph Parker.
The 31-year-old has vowed to do what is necessary to win this weekend.
