Watch Jake Paul troll Canelo Alvarez with impression of pound-for-pound star as he tries to goad him into fight

JAKE PAUL goaded Canelo Alvarez with an impression of the pound-for-pound boxing star. YouTuber Paul, who is 4-0 as a boxer, has called out the four-division champion in the past.
Canelo Alvarez discussing YouTuber Jake Paul
Jake Paul goaded Canelo Alvarez by impersonating him
And he even set an audacious target of trying to fight Canelo in just three year’ time.
Current super-middleweight king Alvarez, who fights Caleb Plant in an undisputed title fight on November 6, was once more quizzed about Paul.
Asked by FightHype if he would ever face the social media sensation, he replied: “We don’t know, you can never say never. We’ll see in the future.”
Canelo also said Paul would need to do ‘a lot of things’ before they could ever fight.
Paul later capitalised on the interview as he mimicked Alvarez and mimed the Mexican’s words.
The American celebrity is coming off the biggest win of his career, a points decision over eight rounds against ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39.

It followed knockouts over online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, former NBA player Nate Robinson and retired UFC fighter Ben Askren, both 37.
Canelo, 31, was joined by former UFC champion Conor McGregor, 33, on Paul’s boxing ‘hit-list’.
But MMA trainer Javier Mendez – who coached Khabib Nurmagomedov to victory over McGregor in 2018 – warned Paul against fighting Alvarez.
Mendez told Betway Insider: “Jake has got so many advantages on Conor.
“Size being one of the big major ones, and the fact that he’s been boxing for three plus years with really good boxing professionals that know what they’re doing.
“So no, he shouldn’t have to fear Conor whatsoever. Instead, he has to fear people like Canelo. He would just smash him in one round, it would be embarrassing.
“He hasn’t got a chance against those kinds of guys, he really should stay away from him – but against Conor, absolutely he has a chance.” More

Why Joe Joyce needs Oleksandr Usyk to BEAT old GB team-mate Anthony Joshua for title shot – having shared ring with both

JOE JOYCE will watch Anthony Joshua’s rematch against Oleksandr Usyk with conflicting feelings. The heavyweight will soon be called to fight the winner due to his status as WBO mandatory challenger.

Anthony Joshua pictured after sparring next to Joe Joyce
Joyce is a former sparring partner and team-mate of Joshua’s during his time spent on the GB Olympic squad.
But in 2013, he boxed and lost to Usyk over five rounds in the World Boxing Series tournament – a hybrid of amateur and professional boxing.
And having also sparred with WBC champion Tyson Fury, out of the three Joyce fancies his chances most against Ukraine’s Usyk.
But it would mean needing the newly crowned unified king to do the double over AJ before Joyce could get his anticipated rematch.
Asked who his style matches up best with, he told SunSport: “I say maybe Usyk.
“Because AJ is more likely to knock me out and with Fury you’re in danger of being outboxed.

“He’s at the top, with Joshua, Usyk, they’re all at the top level but they all pose a different skillset and attributes which put them apart.
“Same with Usyk as well, he’s a smaller guy and southpaw, but they each pose a problem.
“Even Deontay Wilder, he has that phenomenal punch power. There’s some really exciting fights with the big-level names.”
Joyce, 35, looked in line to fight Usyk, 34, for the WBO ‘interim’ title while Joshua, 31, was in talks with Fury, 33.
But after the Gypsy King was ordered by an arbitrator into his contracted trilogy bout with Wilder, 35, hope of a unification with AJ collapsed.
Instead Joshua was mandated by the WBO to fight Usyk, leading to his disastrous defeat at Tottenham’s stadium.
Joyce was meanwhile frozen out of the picture and reckons Usyk always had his eye on AJ to swerve a rematch of their bout eight years ago.
He said: “I think AJ suits Usyk more than my style. I’m a hard style for Usyk to fight. That’s why I think he was patient in waiting to fight Joshua.
I say maybe Usyk. Because AJ is more likely to knock me out and with Fury you’re in danger of being outboxed.Joe Joyce on who he matches up best with
“I’d throw more shots and I’d have to have a nice training camp with Ismael Salas again and work out the game plan to beat this guy.
“It’s a fight that I can win, especially if it’s for the belts.”
Usyk outpointed Joyce over five rounds to claim victory for Ukraine over British Lionhearts.
But this time the British contender is relishing an extra seven rounds to impose his 6ft 6in and 18st 8lb frame.
Since defeat to Usyk, he has also beaten two southpaws in Lenroy Thomas, 36, and ex-champ Bermane Stiverne, 42, who Wilder twice beat.
Joyce said: “I thought I was doing well in the first fight we had, it was a very tough but enjoyable fight.
“There were plenty of exchanges and I reckon if it had gone a couple more rounds I would have started to come out on top.
“I’d have more rounds if I fought him this time around, plus I’m a lot more experienced so I know how to fight southpaws.”

How a single Instagram comment from KSI kickstarted era of ‘YouTube boxing’ which saw Logan Paul fight Floyd Mayweather

A SINGLE Instagram comment kickstarted the ‘YouTube boxing’ phenomenon – which only four years later saw Logan Paul fight Floyd Mayweather. Logan, and now his brother Jake, have quickly become two of the most polarising and disputed figures in boxing.

But they can gives thanks to British pair KSI and Joe Weller, two former friends who raised eyebrows by organising a white collar fight in 2018.
Their manager Liam Chivers, who has seen the rise from start to present, said: “KSI and Joe Weller created it.
“Lets face it, because with their fans they’ve taken them along in the journey.
“They’ve created this platform for the others to jump on the back of it. We pretty much set the Paul brothers up on a plate with the KSI fights.”
But before KSI and Logan boxed as professionals with world champions on their undercard, it all began with one throwaway comment.
Of course, it was made online, when Weller announced he would spar his pal Theo Baker for a YouTube video.

KSI, real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, commented: “Lemme fight the winner haha.”
That turned out to be Weller and the two then sold out the Copper Box Arena with the bout being viewed almost 21MILLION times since.
KSI won and then called out American star Logan afterwards and the two fought to a draw after six rounds in 2018 in Manchester, selling 1million pay-per-views.
But according to Chivers, the game changed soon after.
Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn turned them pro, and had the fight on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN internationally.
Chivers said: “The key was definitely taking it off YouTube on to a major platform, in this case DAZN. It took me a year of negotiations to make that happen.
KSI drew with YouTube rival Logan Paul in a 2018 white collar bout

“Because this whole thing revolves around KSI, and his audience and everyone else was just the B-side.
“So him establishing this as an actual phenomenon, it was all about, ‘So what’s next for him?’ Always knocking that mainstream barrier down.”
KSI, 28, won by split-decision but has been unable to fight since due to a fledging music career which has seen him top charts and headline festivals.
But Logan, 26, returned this June in an unthinkable exhibition with Mayweather, 44, which ended without a winner after no knockout was scored.
His little brother Jake, 24, is now 4-0 and recently beat ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, which US powerhouse Showtime aired.
Jake has claimed he is earning up to $10m for his fights, while Mayweather boasted of banking $100m after sharing the ring with Logan.

But the new age of content creators are still continuing to step foot in the ring away from the traditional boxing promoters and networks.
Only in June did Chivers have two of his stable – KSI’s brother ‘Deji’ and ‘AnEsonGib’ – fight on the ‘Social Gloves’ platform.
It saw YouTubers and TikTokers fight off against each other.
And despite a breakthrough within the mainstream boxing market, Chivers admitted social media stars are capable of doing things their own way if needed.
He said: “These guys are their own promoters ultimately, their own YouTube channels, their own social media.
“It doesn’t necessarily matter, as long as there’s a safety aspect covered. Everyone knows what they’re signing up for.

“Even the professionalism of the event, when we did the KSI fight with Joe Weller, it was all very professional, proper rules, proper controls.”
A large section of boxing fans would prefer to see novice fighters with a huge online platform stay as far away from the pro sport as possible.
But others within the business, whether it be boxers or promoters, welcome the fresh fanbase as ultimately it brings in more revenue.
Promoter Kalle Sauerland told SunSport: “I think that it’s great to ultimately have novices, which they are, and that attracts attention to our sport.
“And, if that’s done correctly and done in a professional manner, I have nothing against it unless it starts to become too much WWE.”

AnEsonGib was beaten by Jake Paul
Londoner Gib has done both, twice fighting on KSI’s undercard before turning pro in January 2020 in a defeat to Jake.
But he returned on Social Gloves to beat TikToker Tayler Holder in America, which was overseen by the Florida State Boxing Commission – but NOT a pro bout.
The biggest difference between his fight against Jake and Holder was the gloves sizes and length of rounds.
Meaning, fighting under pro rules or in a exhibition-style bout makes little difference, barring how it is viewed.
Chivers explained: “It doesn’t really matter to us. There’s a lot of networks or broadcasters involved here, the DAZN’s, Showtime with Jake, Triller.
“Gib has his pro license, if it’s a pro event he’d probably prefer that.
AnEsonGib beat American TikToker Tayler HolderCredit: @AnEsonGib

“But it will come down to how big the spectacle can be, how much he’s getting paid, obviously and who his opponent is.”
The Paul brothers show no sign of ending their run in the sport any time soon, while more and more entertainment figures are flirting with the idea of fighting.
KSI still plans to settle the score with Jake, and his friend Gib has showcased improved skills and wants to continue on in the sport.
And while they can all deliver PPV numbers – like the 1m Mayweather and Logan produced – sell tickets and introduce fans into the sport, this trend will stay.
But if the interest suddenly stops, it remains to be seen if era of YouTube boxing can be sustainable or goes down as just a fad.

Chris Eubank Jr vs Anatoli Muratov OFF with German unable to fight due to medical issues

CHRIS EUBANK JR’S return to the ring has been called off – after his opponent Anatoli Muratov was unable to fight on medical grounds. Eubank Jr was set to launch as the new face of Sky Sports Boxing, and was initially due to face Sven Elbir.

But German Elbir tested positive for coronavirus, and was replaced by countryman Muratov.
He weighed in and faced off against Eubank Jr a day before they were set to fight.
But in a dramatic turn of events, Muratov was forced to withdraw after the British Board of Boxing Control raised concerns over his pre-fight medicals.
Promoter Ben Shalom said: “Obviously we are all disappointed that Chris Eubank Jr can no longer compete on tonight’s card, but it is important to make the right decision in the interests of fighters’ health and safety.
“We’re grateful to the British Board of Boxing Control for the standards they employ to protect that.
“My thoughts go out to Chris, who has had a very difficult time lately. He will come back stronger and remains a key figure in Sky Sports plans.
“Chris will be returning with a big fight in the next few weeks.”

The bill Eubank Jr was due to headline on, at Wembley Arena, will still go ahead.
European welterweight champion David Avanesyan will now defend his belt against Manchester’s Liam Taylor as the new main-event.
Eubank Jr last fought in May with a ten round decision win over Marcus Morrison and has been promised a blockbuster by December.
To keep plans on track, promoter Kalle Sauerland is now in talks to re-schedule his ring return.
Sauerland said: “I know Chris was looking forward to fighting tonight at The SSE Arena, Wembley and starring as the new face of Sky Sports Boxing.
“We are already in discussions regarding a new date for Chris and fans can expect to see him back in the ring very soon.”

Jake Paul ‘absolutely’ could beat Conor McGregor in a boxing match, warns Khabib’s ex-coach in brutal verdict

JAKE PAUL could beat Conor McGregor in a boxing match, according to the trainer of former UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov. The 24-year-old YouTuber turned fighter has been calling for a fight with McGregor throughout 2021, goading the Irishman as he looks to tempt him back into the boxing ring.

And trainer Javier Mendez – who has coached the likes of Khabib, Cain Velasquez and Daniel Cormier – feels Paul would have a great chance of beating McGregor.
Speaking to Betway, he said: “Jake has got so many advantages on Conor.
“Size being one of the big major ones, and the fact that he’s been boxing for three-plus years with really good boxing professionals that know what they’re doing. So no, he shouldn’t have to fear Conor whatsoever.
“Looking at the two, Jake’s got big advantages in size and power. Yes, he doesn’t have fight experience but he’s been strictly just boxing for a long time now. Conor’s not been strictly boxing.”
Paul has also called out a number of elite level boxers, including four-weight world champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
But Mendez believes Paul should steer clear of fighting the likes of Canelo as he would be found out very swiftly.

“Instead, he has to fear people like Canelo. He would just smash him in one round, it would be embarrassing,” he added.
“He hasn’t got a chance against those kinds of guys, he really should stay away from him – but against Conor, absolutely he has a chance.”
Paul is 4-0 as a professional having beaten YouTuber AnEsonGib, basketball player Nate Robinson and MMA stars Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.
The American’s last victory against Woodley came via a split decision, the first time Paul had gone the distance.
Meanwhile, McGregor’s only professional boxing fight came against Floyd Mayweather in 2017, a bout he lost via tenth round stoppage.
The following year McGregor returned to the octagon and was made to submit by bitter rival Khabib in a highly intense grudge match.
Since then, the Irishman beat Donald Cerrone in 2020 but has already lost twice this year to Dustin Poirier.

Roy Jones Jr wants Tyson Fury & Oleksandr Usyk kept apart ‘by any means necessary’ as he fears unentertaining fight

BOXING legend Roy Jones Jr wants Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk to be kept apart ‘by any means necessary’ – as he fears a borefest. Jones was ringside as an analyst to watch Usyk put on a 12 round masterclass against Anthony Joshua.

It has put hopes of a Battle of Britain between Joshua, 31, and Fury, 33, to bed for the moment.
Now Usyk, 34, will fancy adding Fury’s WBC belt to his collection of shiny new WBA, IBF and WBO straps.
But one man not so keen on the idea is American icon Jones, who predicts an uneventful chess match between the two masterful champions.
He told DAZN: “I hope it don’t happen. Two boxers don’t make for the most entertaining fight.
“We gotta keep Usyk and Fury away from each other by any means necessary. We do not want to see that.
“There should be a clause right now put into any contract: ‘Do not allow Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury to have a fight.’
“We do not need that for boxing.”

Joshua has a rematch clause in the contract, much like he did in defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr, 32, in June 2019.
He has confirmed plans to exercise it as soon as possible and has the backing of Jones, who won titles from middleweight all the way to heavyweight.

He added: “This was an excellent fight tonight. This is what boxing needs. We don’t need the other fights we’ve been getting.
“We need these kind of real fights. I would say, we hope Joshua takes the rematch. This was an awesome fight.
“We’d love to see an awesome fight like this again. That’d be better for us. We don’t want to see Usyk-Fury. We’ll see anybody else!”
