Lennox Lewis has ‘no idea’ what’s going on in Deontay Wilder’s head and he’s ‘in his own bubble’ for Tyson Fury trilogy

LENNOX LEWIS has no idea what is running through Deontay Wilder’s head after Tyson Fury burst his bubble. The 56-year-old ring legend watched his fellow Brit obliterate the Bronze Bomber in February 2020.
Lennox Lewis claims he has ‘no idea’ what is going on in Deontay Wilder’s headCredit: The Sun
The American made a long-list of excuses after his loss to Tyson Fury last yearCredit: Alamy
Wilder blamed the one-sided loss on a heavy ring-walk costume, his trainer Mark Breland for throwing in the towel, the referee for allegedly being crooked and Fury for supposedly loading his gloves with metal objects.
The American, 35, refuses to accept the first loss of his career — and his reputation will be in tatters unless he produces something spectacular here in Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning.
And mastermind Lewis, heavyweight boxing’s last undisputed king, has no idea what the dethroned former champ is now thinking.
He admitted: “I have tried to get in the head of Deontay but he is in his own bubble. It is OK being in your own bubble, sometimes, if it works for you.
“You can tell yourself you only lost because you got caught with a lucky shot — and that can sometimes work for you.
“But what changes that is a punch in the face — that wakes you up quickly.

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
“A punch changes everything. All the things you practised can suddenly stop working and you might even realise that all the things you were practising were wrong, or you were just doing it wrong. When the fight happens, we will know.
“If he says all these people are cheating and this and that, all right . . . let’s see if all these things happen again.
“If they don’t happen, let’s see what he says this time if he then loses.
“He says all these things but no one else is saying them in his team. He’s the only one saying them.
“He’s in a bubble. How long is he going to stay in that bubble until it bursts? When it bursts is the reality check of, ‘What happened this time?’ ”
Wilder axed Breland and head trainer Jay Deas and has released training footage of him trying to be a more technical boxer and not a one-trick pony.
But he did not start boxing until he was 21 and Lewis doubts whether an old dog can be taught new tricks.
He explained: “People realised Deontay has never really had to back up and he was being made to do it for the first time. And he has to learn that the guy going forward has a better chance to land than the guy going backward.
“Unless you have really been practising fighting on the back foot, and you are used to it, it is going to be difficult to adapt that quickly.
“If you have not practised it, then it is difficult because the rule is — if you are going backwards — that you stop, plant your feet and throw your punch.
The Bronze Bomber and Tyson Fury collide again on SaturdayCredit: AFP
“But that takes a lot of training and only a few people can do that — and I am in that bracket.
“But it is very difficult to learn all the things he has tried to learn in this short space of time between the fights. All these things need to have been done early.”
Lewis was a student of the game who managed to combine violent, concussive punching with technical excellence and brilliant tactics.
Wilder’s mantra is that his opponents need to be excellent for all 12 rounds, while he needs just a couple of seconds to detonate his life-changing right hand.
But Lewis warns him that waiting for the one perfect punch could cost him — and it might never even happen.
London-born Lewis said: “Tyson is a great boxer, he boxes orthodox and southpaw and he loves the sport.
“The sport is not all about knockouts for him, he loves to box and look good.
“In Deontay’s mind, he has knocked out lots of people before and — as he always says — he only needs that one second.
“But that second has to come around, you have to wait for the right time — and sometimes that second never comes.
“That is why you have to give it to the boxer  who is putting in all the work all the way through the fight.”

Deontay Wilder wears hoodie promoting his fiancee Telli Swift’s perfume in Las Vegas ahead of Tyson Fury showdown

DEONTAY WILDER might need the smelling salts if he’s knocked out again by Tyson Fury but for now he’s happy to promote a different fragrance. The Bronze Bomber was spotted wearing a hoodie emblazoned with the logo of his fiancee’s perfume brand ahead of his trilogy bout with the Brit.

Both men touched down for their ceremonial grand arrivals in Las Vegas ahead of their highly anticipated fight at Sin City’s T-Mobile Arena.
And while the Gypsy King went for a sleeveless number in the Nevada desert, Wilder opted for the D’Telli-branded top.
The perfume is the new fragrance from the American’s fiancee Telli Swift.
The Philippine-born reality TV star describes the product as her tribute to her partner.
She wrote on her Instagram account: “From a vision in my head that turned into reality, two souls connected and @dtellifragrances was born.
“This fragrance represents the love between My King @bronzebomber to always be connected in scent even when we’re apart.”

The fragrance is said to be unisex and designed to be worn either day or night ‘throughout every season’.
Wilder may need something stronger when the heat rises this weekend as he seeks to avenge the knock-out defeat he suffered last year.
The 35-year-old claims to have been training for ‘war’ with new coach Malik Scott ahead of his next Fury showdown.
But legendary cornerman Harold Knight has questioned if the inexperienced Scott is too much of a friend to Wilder to dish out the brutal training he needs to win in Vegas.

Tyson Fury gutted that Anthony Joshua lost to Oleksandr Usyk because it cost Gypsy King £75m & Brit heavyweight showdown

TYSON FURY is gutted Anthony Joshua’s defeat to Oleksandr Usyk cost him £75million.Saudi Arabia were ready to stump up mega-money to host the all-English undisputed heavyweight decider in August, helping raise around £200m for the pair to split.

But 33-year-old Fury was forced into a third fight with Deontay Wilder, leaving AJ, 31, to handle a mandatory defence against the Ukraine southpaw.
And 34-year-old Usyk proved to be the spanner in the works as he outpointed the Brit icon, blowing their fantasy fight to smithereens.
But Fury has no interest in gloating or sticking the boot in, despite feeling Joshua costing him.
Fury told iFL TV: “It was a bit of an anti-climax but no part of me was happy that he lost.
“We were all in the front room saying ‘come on win the fight, land a big right hand’.
“Why would I be pleased? There just goes £75million down the toilet so I wasn’t pleased that he lost.

“I was actually wanting him to win and I always want him to win.”
Fury the businessman is reeling from the biggest fight in British boxing history going up in smoke.
And the competitor is raging that Andy Ruiz Jr and Usyk have now managed to beat the Watford powerhouse before him.
He said “It is part of a huge British rivalry and I don’t want anyone else to knock him off apart from me.
“Maybe they don’t feel the same way and they want me to lose this fight so I am a beaten man like the rest of them.
“Everyone in this division will be praying I lose so I can be like them, defeated.”

Meet Tyson Fury’s 11-man team for Deontay Wilder fight, from Love Island star brother Tommy to personal bodyguard

TYSON FURY defends his WBC heavyweight title for the first time this weekend when he faces Deontay Wilder in their eagerly-awaited trilogy bout.Despite not fighting since dethroning the Bronze Bomber in February 2020, the 33-year-old has insisted he is ’30 or 40 per cent’ better this time around.
Tyson Fury and his 11-man team pose for a picture in front of the T-Mobile Arena
Fury has made America his second home with the Gypsy King preparing for his fifth consecutive dust-up in the States.
And it will be the fourth time in a row that the unbeaten Mancunian will be headlining in Las Vegas.
Ahead of his third meeting with Wilder, his promotional company Top Rank has released a picture of Fury with his 11-man team.
Here SunSport takes a look at his team from left to right.
    George Lockhart – Chef
The cooking mastermind behind Fury’s 10st weight loss and continued commitment to calorie counting.
The American flies over to Fury’s Morecambe home to take care of all his meals in camp.
And the kitchen genius even knows how to sneak fruits and vegetables into every meal as the 6ft 9in Fury cannot stand them.

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
    Jorge Capetillo – Cutman
The boxing mastermind was in Fury’s corner for the night he boxed Otto Wallin and had his eye split open.
Capetillo worked wonders on the 47-stitch gash and remains a close ally for Fury every time he visits Sin City.
Kristian Blacklock – Strength and Conditioning
The strength and conditioning genius is another crucial part of Team Fury who eschews the limelight as much as possible.
Fury trusts no one but this man to whip him into shape for sensational nights and the fitness whizz has never yet let him down.
    Hughie Fury – Brother
Tyson’s little brother has lost a huge amount of weight in recent months and now joins his sibling on most of his gruelling runs around Morecambe and Las Vegas.
    Big Shane Fury – Brother
Because dad Big John Fury is blocked from visiting the US and heading up the camp, Shane is his lieutenant running the show.
Tyson’s giant little bro is in charge of making sure the champ never catches Covid for a third time and runs his camp day-to-day.

    Tommy Fury – Brother
The gorgeous Love Island celeb is grafting away at his own fight career and also learning everything he can off his big bro.
Tyson even joked on Thursday that if he doesn’t beat YouTube boxer Jake Paul, he will make his little bro change his name from the legendary Fury moniker.
    Bob Arum – US-based Promoter
The legendary American fight maker is the chief of the Top Rank empire.
And, having worked directly with Muhammad Ali, it is no small thing when he compares Tyson to the Greatest for how they talk and fight.
    Brendan Corey – Personal Bodyguard
Fury’s personal bodyguard is never far away from the undefeated champ and is clearly a very trusted member of the team.
The safety specialist has refrained from any interviews so remains a bit of a mystery man.
Tim Allcock – Friend and Advisor
The friend and advisor Tyson lovingly refers to as ‘Timmy Boy’ has been a mainstay of his comeback.
Fury’s team is almost exclusively a family affair but Allcock has such huge respect among the group that he has a seminal role in all things happening around the camp.
Early on in the relationship Allcock was in charge of all camp meals and revealed to SunSport that peanut butter chicken was Tyson’s favourite.

How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight
    ‘Sugar Hill’ Steward – Trainer
The nephew of legendary Kronk gym trainer Emanuel Steward, Sugar has been the mastermind behind Fury’s shock transformation into a power puncher.
The Detroit ace enjoys spending time in Fury’s Morecambe home now – but was so disappointed by Anthony Joshua’s performance against Oleksandr Usyk that he popped outside to BBQ some meat for the team.
    Spencer Brown – Commercial Manager
The head of Goldstar promotions, the memorabilia and events mogul has earned Fury’s total trust in a short space of time.
The North Londoner is now based in Blackpool and is a close friend as well as a business partner.

Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch date already pencilled in for next year after Brit’s devastating defeat

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S shot at winning back his belts from Oleksandr Usyk is already being pencilled in for next spring.AJ lost his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles in a shock defeat by Usyk last month.

The Brit was outclassed by his Ukrainian opponent but immediately signalled his intention of activating a rematch clause in their contract.
And now promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed fans will only have to wait five or six months before the pair meet in the ring again.
Hearn told DAZN: “I think March or April is likely.
“Usyk had a terrible cut, I’m sure they’ll probably get a holiday in as well. So they’re probably not going to do too much until December, and then we’ll start planning.”
The defeat by Usyk was initially reported to have cost Joshua the chance of a £500million super-fight against rival Tyson Fury.
The pair had been slated to meet for a blockbuster undisputed bout that was being billed as the biggest fight in British boxing history.

And while the Gypsy King takes on Deontay Wilder in their trilogy match on Saturday, talk of a Battle of Britain super-fight with Joshua has started to pick up again.
Hearn was bullish about his charge’s prospects despite the recent setback at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He added: “I think AJ will definitely fight Fury, Wilder, (Dillian) Whyte and Usyk because he’s consistently fought the top guys and he will continue to do so.
“But I think in his mind the only thing he’s really thinking about is Usyk.”

Jake Paul convinced Tyron Woodley has found loophole to change ‘I love Jake Paul tattoo’ on finger

JAKE PAUL believes rival Tyron Woodley has found a loophole in his tattoo as the UFC legend demands a rematch. The former welterweight champion, 39, was outpointed against the YouTuber in their boxing bout in August.

Following the dust-up in Ohio, Paul declared that he would fight the MMA icon again as long as Woodley had ‘I love Jake Paul’ inked on his body.
The pair had made a bet prior Paul’s split decision victory in their contest that the loser would get a tattoo of the victor’s name.
And Woodley finally got the tattoo at the end of September, where he instantly called for a rematch after getting it done on the inside of his middle finger.
But Paul, 24, has stated that Woodley may cover up the tattoo, and has explained his theory of why he got inked.
He told talkSPORT: “Let’s see what happens. He was like three or four weeks late on the tattoo, he let the hype die down.
“I think he had a call with his accountants and he saw how much taxes he had to pay and he was like ‘oh, man, I need to get this tattoo right now.’

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
“The weird thing about it, and I’m saying this on record right now, is the tattoo is on his middle finger and it’s done in a way where he can change it to say ‘f*** Jake Paul’.
“He did it so the I looks like an F or could be changed to that, so I think personally he’s going to change it to say ‘f*** Jake Paul’ on his middle finger.
“It goes perfectly with that, so I’m calling it out right now.
“He’s trying to find loopholes and be slick but he’s not as smart as he thinks he is.”
Paul has also been heavily linked with a fight against Tommy Fury, with the unbeaten Brit rejecting a $1million offer from the American.
And Fury’s brother Tyson has urged the pair to ‘get some balls’ and agree to a bout.
Asked for his thoughts on the potential fight between the feuding youngsters, Fury told Behind The Gloves: “Hopefully it happens.

“I hope they can both get some balls and sign the f***ing contract.
“Make this fight happen and give the world the fight they want to see.
“I want to see it. Everybody wants to see this fight.” More

Tyson Fury’s ex-opponent Otto Wallin urges Deontay Wilder to ‘man up’ and accept he ‘lost to the better man’

DEONTAY WILDER has been urged to ‘man up’ and accept defeat if he has any chance of beating Tyson Fury in their trilogy bout. Fury brilliantly beat Wilder in their February 2020 rematch, after they dramatically drew in 2018.

But the American, who was dethroned and defeated for the first time, put the loss down to everything but a masterclass from the Gypsy King.
That included his water being SPIKED and Fury boxing with WEIGHTS in his gloves – allegations which Wilder has stuck by but that have never proven.
Otto Wallin, the last man Fury beat before his crowning night over Wilder, has hit out at the Bronze Bomber for refusing to acknowledge his loss.
And he fears it will hold back the former champion from recognising what went wrong and fixing it – playing right into Fury’s hands.
Swedish fighter Wallin, 30, told SunSport: “I think that Fury is going to win again. I find it strange with Wilder, all the excuses.
“That really makes me question, how much can you really improve if you have to keep coming up with excuses?
“I feel like Wilder’s got to man up and take the loss, he lost fair and square to the better man, realise that and start working.”

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
Wilder, 35, twice dropped Fury, 33, three years ago in their original but was largely outboxed as it ended all square on the cards.
But in the rematch, Fury caught everyone by surprise as he packed on the pounds to 19st 5lb to go on the offensive.
He scored two knockdowns of his own before winning in round seven.
It came just five months after Fury, all the way down at 18st, was cut against Wallin and narrowly avoided a stoppage loss.
The Swede was moments away from forcing the win, but Fury, who needed 47 stitches after, proved his resilience and grinded out a points decision to remain unbeaten.
After coming so close to causing the mother of all upsets, Wallin has told Wilder to copy his tactics and take the fight to his heavyweight rival.
How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight
He said: “The biggest thing with Wilder is he’s just got to let his hands go and not load up so much, because Fury has good defence.
“For Wilder, use your jab, let your shots go and make it a fight also, you can’t just load up and try to knock him out.
“Fury is a smart fighter, he’s already stopped Wilder before, doesn’t mean he will stop him now, but he’s the favourite for me.”
Since losing to Fury, Wallin has returned with two wins, most recently against Dominic Breazeale, 36.
It followed a period of being swerved at the top of the division, due to the massive scare he the Gypsy King.
But Wallin can force a rematch with Fury and guarantee himself a WBC title shot when he challenges Dillian Whyte, 33, at the O2 Arena on October 30.
I feel like Wilder’s got to man up and take the loss, he lost fair and square to the better man, realise that and start working.Otto Wallin on Deontay Wilder
He said: “This is the perfect opportunity for me with Dillian, I get the interim belt and then Fury will have to fight me.
“Because after our fight, I haven’t heard him mention my name once, some interviews he calls out 15-20 guys, but never mentions my name.
“I’ve gotten better since that last fight, it was a huge gap in class, I had never fought on that level before.
“It was my first time, I had only fought one round in 18 months before I fought him and not a lot of people know but I had surgery behind my ear 7-8 weeks before.
“We were really careful in sparring before that fight but afterwards, with the experience I got and the fights I’ve had now, I’m in a much better space.”
