Deontay Wilder’s dramatic body transformation for Tyson Fury trilogy after gaining TWO STONE of muscle since first fight

DEONTAY WILDER has certainly beefed up since his first fight with Tyson Fury. The Bronze Bomber first locked horns with the Brit in December 2018 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, which proved to be the venue for one of the most-talked-about heavyweight fights in recent history.

Defending WBC champ Wilder tipped the scales at 218.5lbs the previous evening – a whooping THREE stone (44lbs) lighter than Fury.
Having felt Fury’s size in their first fight, Wilder opted to put on some weight for their rematch last February.
The Olympic bronze medallist stepped on the scales at 231lbs the evening before his reign as WBC heavyweight champion came to an end.
But he struggled to deal with the size and relentless pressure of Fury, who himself had beefed up to 273lbs.
Clearly frustrated by Fury’s strength and weight advantages, Wilder has hit the gym hard over the last 19 months to put on more size.
The 35-year-old put himself through session after session of gruelling strength and conditioning training in a bid to put on some more lean mass.

And the training – including his bench pressing sessions – has well and truly bore fruit.
Video footage and photos of the Alabama native looking the thickest he’s ever been started doing the rounds before fight week.
And when he stepped on the scale on Friday night, it was clear for all to see that the Olympian had indeed beefed up.
Seconds after he took to the scale, it was announced that his new-and-improved frame weighed 238lbs.
And his hulking muscles were further put on show when he hit a double-bicep pose.
Boxing fans were quick to react, with one saying: “Wilder going for early ko. He’ll be f****d after 3 rounds if not.”
I see me beating him up and then knocking him outDeontay Wilder on his trilogy fight with Tyson Fury
Another said: “Wilder needed to bulk up. This ain’t bodybuilding. He was way too cut before. Both look ready.”
And another said: “Wilder looks huge.”
Former WBA heavyweight champ David Haye said of Wilder’s frame: “Wilder looked great. He looked great.”
Defeat to Fury – who weighed in at 277lbs – was the first of Wilder’s professional career.
And the American is hellbent on exacting his revenge in brutal fashion.
He said: “I see me beating him up and then knocking him out.
How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight
“There were a lot of things I visualised in the first fight and the second but I didn’t execute the game plan.
“This is a different feeling, all the way round, just the surroundings, the atmosphere and the energy as a whole.
“I’m looking forward to putting on a great performance.”

Joshua vs Fury predictions: Boxing icons including Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather and Carl Froch on who wins fight

THE undisputed title decider between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has divided opinions across the UK and the world. The Battle of Britain has been thrown into doubt by AJ’s recent defeat to Oleksandr Usyk while Fury must overcome Wilder to keep the fight alive.
Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury were said to have agreed to a two-fight deal in 2021 but it is now in doubt
And boxing’s most famous faces are divided over who would win
The pair were said to have agreed a two-fight deal in 2021.
But Fury has recently said he never thought the fight would happen.
However, when the mega-bout was in the offing, boxing’s great and good were split over who would win.
Here, SunSport runs down who the stars are backing as their winner.
    MIKE TYSON
Iron Mike has backed his namesake to prevail against AJ if the pair meet inside the ring.

Tyson told BBC Sport: “It’s very interesting, Joshua is a masterful puncher. But you can see his punches coming, he telegraphs his punches.
“And that’s just a recipe for disaster if you’re fighting Tyson Fury and you’re telegraphing your punches – to a guy whose 6ft 7in, come on.”
The Baddest Man on the Planet also left AJ off his list of his top five current boxers.
    Prediction: Fury

    FLOYD MAYWEATHER
Mayweather was credited for bringing the money to the smaller division – but he has a friendship with both Joshua and Fury.
He even revealed he speaks to AJ on the regular, but refrained from calling a winner.
Mayweather told entrepreneur Rob Moore: “It’s a very intriguing match-up, you can never say what’s going to happen in the sport of boxing.
“Both guys are great competitors. Like I say, me and Anthony Joshua talk on the regular, so I look forward to working with Joshua.”
    Prediction: Wouldn’t like to say
Floyd Mayweather admitted he does not care who wins between Fury or Joshua
    ANDY RUIZ JR
Ruiz Jr, who famously handed Joshua his first ever defeat, reckons AJ can get the better of Fury – but only if he adopts an aggressive approach to the blockbuster fight.
Mexico’s first heavyweight champion told The Daily Mail: “Fury has a really weird style.
“I feel if Joshua doesn’t box around – like he did to me – and goes forward, throws his combinations, I think Anthony will pull out the victory.”
    Prediction: Joshua
Andy Ruiz Jr may have beaten Joshua – but he fancies AJ to beat FuryCredit: PA
    GEORGE FOREMAN
The former two-time world heavyweight champion sees no way in which AJ can prevail.
He told iFL TV: “That boy Tyson Fury, you’re going to have to bring everything you’ve got to beat him.
“I’m going to be honest with you – I just can’t see Joshua beating him.”
    Prediction: Fury
    DAVID HAYE
Haye, a former heavyweight champion, twice pulled out of fighting Fury and he had some words of warning for his old rival.
He told Sky Sports: “If Tyson Fury attacks Anthony Joshua in the same manner, in which he did in Vegas against Deontay Wilder, I don’t believe it works in his favour.
“I believe he’ll be too open, too wide and someone as fast, athletic, and as skilful as Anthony Joshua will be able to punch right through the middle and take him out, and take him out early.
    “I know it’s a controversial prediction.”
    Prediction: Joshua.

    DILLIAN WHYTE
Whyte was beaten by Joshua in 2015 but has had an equally heated rivalry with Fury – and his prediction reflects how he feels about the two.
He said on Behind The Gloves: “I have no idea who wins the fight, man.
    “I think it’s a 50/50 fight.
“It’s crazy, in heavyweight boxing there’s a lot of things going on.
“We’ll have to wait and see.”
    Prediction: Too close to call.

    ROY JONES JR
The American four-division great – who amazingly won the heavyweight belt in 2003 – sat on the fence but did appear to suggest Fury is favourite.
Jones told iFL TV: “I’m not saying Fury is as good as Ali skill-wise but he has a mind like Ali. With a mind like that, he can be anybody.
“I think it was at a local show I saw him at and I said to him: ‘If you just give yourself to boxing for five years, you’ll be amazed and you’ll beat all these guys.’
“I love him to death. I’m so happy for him and proud of him that he was able to do it.
“I see him as the No1 and I think him against Joshua is a good fight.”
    Prediction: Fury… just about.
Roy Jones Jr believes Fury is the No1 heavyweight in the world
    TONY BELLEW
Only one winner for the Bomber.
He said: “The top three heavyweights today, if you’re going on what they’re actually doing, you can’t really knock Tyson Fury for what he’s doing since he’s come back.
“I understand why people have him No1.
“I have to put Fury No1, but I still think AJ beats him. Styles make fights, and I think AJ’s style is all wrong for Fury.”
    Prediction: Joshua
Tony Bellew has backed pal Joshua to defeat Fury
    AMIR KHAN
Fury’s dominant rematch win over Wilder in February 2020 has convinced Khan he has the edge over AJ.
Khan told Sky Sports: “If I was to pick someone, I do lean a little bit more towards Fury.
“I think Fury is the full complete fighter. He is a good boxer, he can fight, he’s the one who put Wilder down with the power.
“I never used to think he had that much power as a heavyweight and I think he proved it coming forward on the front foot.
“So I do favour him a little bit more.”

    BERNARD HOPKINS
Following lessons learned from AJ’s loss to Andy Ruiz Jr, Hopkins has not only backed him to win – but to knock out Fury and ‘make a serious statement’.
He told Sky Sports: “He redeemed himself. Now that is in his memory – what not to do ever again – Joshua beats Fury by knockout late.
“It will be an interesting, exciting five or six rounds at the beginning. Then Joshua’s athleticism, boxing IQ and experience would overwhelm Fury.
“Joshua would come out of a dust-storm based on his experience.
“At this point he has to make a really serious statement based on [the Ruiz defeat]. Redemption.”
    Prediction: Joshua

    WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO
Klitschko, who lost to both men, spoke earlier this year about his prediction.
He told the National: “Joshua is a superior athlete, great fighter, Olympic champion.
“Most importantly, he’s a great guy, who carries the torch of this image of a heavyweight champion perfectly. I’m proud to call him as a friend, even though we were [rivals].
“And I think and I wish that eventually Joshua is going to unify all of the belts. That’s the eventual plan.”
    Prediction: Joshua
Wladimir Klitschko thinks Joshua will rule over the division
    CARL FROCH
Froch thinks Joshua could upset the bookies’ odds but gives Fury just as much chance of winning on points.
He told Sky Sports: “I think the only way that Anthony Joshua can win this fight is by stoppage.
“He can’t outbox Fury, who is too good at range. He throws punches from all angles and he’s so awkward.
“But Joshua is an Olympic gold medallist with strong fundamentals and he’s got combination punches with real aggression.
“If he produces the same finishing instinct that he’s shown in past fights, then he can beat Fury.
“AJ can get him out of there, I think he can, because you saw bursts of his aggression in the Kubrat Pulev fight.
“If AJ maintains that, there’s a chance he could stop him, but the problem is, if he doesn’t stop Fury then he’s going to lose on points.”
    Prediction: Sitting on the fence

    JOHNNY NELSON
The former WBO cruiserweight champion believes Joshua has more in his arsenal than Fury.
He told talkSPORT.: “I’ve gone public in saying I think Anthony Joshua is the all-round better fighter.
“I think Tyson Fury is better tactically and the more technically equipped, but AJ is the all-rounder.
“He can fight, he can box, he’s an athlete. Tyson Fury is a boxer.
“I think both men are now at a stage where they’ve done so much and learned so much in their careers that they’re so neck and neck.
“But, I’d go with Anthony Joshua because he’s shown me a lot more variety in his arsenal.”

Lawrence Okolie backing Anthony Joshua in Oleksandr Usyk rematch so he can continue to pack out stadiums with mentor

LAWRENCE OKOLIE is backing mentor Anthony Joshua in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk – so they can carry on packing out stadiums together. Okolie made the first defence of his WBO cruiserweight title with a walkover knockout against Dilan Prasovic.

And his spot as chief support for superstar AJ meant most of Tottenham’s 62,000-plus seats were filled out for his routine but dominant win.
Okolie could then only watch as disaster struck for his manager and friend Joshua, who was dethroned of the unified titles after a masterclass by Usyk.
Already AJ has confirmed plans to exercise his right to an immediate rematch, a decision which was backed all the way by Okolie.
He told SunSport: “It’s the way it should be. You get an opportunity to box for the heavyweight world titles.
“That’s what it is, ultimately he’s got more things he could do, he’s got a lot to work with, stuff he can work on and it gives the potential for it to be a very different fight in the rematch.”
Joshua, 31, found himself in a similar spot in 2019, after he suffered a shock stoppage loss to outsider Andy Ruiz Jr, 32, in New York.

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
But only six months later he reclaimed the belts and his reputation in 36 minutes of boxing brilliance in Saudi Arabia.
This time around, it will not be so easy, but Okolie is confident history will repeat itself with AJ already going back to the drawing board.
He said: “He’s in good spirits, which was good to hear. Obviously it was disappointing, because I always want to see him win.
“But he managed to bounce back before and I believe he will bounce back again.
“At the end of the day, this is world class sport. World class athletes against world class athletes.
“It’s hard to stay beating everyone convincingly, I get it, but obviously I would’ve liked to have seen him win.”
Joshua has headlined at three different stadiums in the UK, from Wembley, Cardiff’s Principality and most recently Spurs’ North London home.

But with heavyweight rival Tyson Fury, 33, doing his business Stateside for the last three years, Britain will be searching for the next ticket seller.
And while Okolie has the power, promotional backing and belts to emerge as a perfect candidate for the role, he warned his CV still needs bolstering.
It means for now, he is happy to share the spotlight with Joshua, who is now looking to become a three-time heavyweight champion.
Okolie explained: “I would still like to do it alongside, it doesn’t even have to be the same show.
“He fills out a stadium, I fill out a stadium. For me, I obviously want to get to that level, of course.
“But I think that takes a level of consistency to get done, you have to defend your titles, build and pay your dues fully.
“I’ve paid a lot of dues, but to get to that level you have to pay a few more.”

Okolie is looking for unification bouts, but before his return to the ring, he has teamed up with former employers McDonald’s launch a new Plan for Change. campaign.
It will see youth workers and services connected to every restaurant in every community by 2024, 3,000 apprenticeship roles being offered by 2025 plus helping one million people gain new skills and open doors to jobs by 2030.
Okolie said: “Working at McDonald’s gave me not just stability and direction but opportunities and training too.
“I would honestly say it was one of the best times of my life, working with my brother, making friends I am still close with and learning things like punctuality, confidence and respect.
“It was there I watched Anthony Joshua win at the 2012 Olympics whilst on a break in the crew room, which inspired me to start training and dream big.
“Anything is possible if you work hard enough and I encourage all young people to believe in themselves.”

Alongside it Fury wrote: “What a shape on a man especially for his age. Respect. Ripped.”
    He then tagged the then-48-year-old.
Johnson was seen facing the camera in the gym, with his muscles and veins bulging after a workout.
The post came as Johnson continued his gruelling workouts ahead of filming for Black Adam which is out next year.
‘The Rock’ is also set to produce and star in a movie biopic about pro-wrestler turned MMA and UFC fighter Mark Kerr.
He revealed the news in a surprise press conference at UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The Gypsy King, pictured here with friend and trainer Ricky Hatton, has lost 10st on his own journey
He said: “Mark Kerr’s story is such an incredible story.
“Like all of us, and like a lot of these fighters, he battled these demons.
“These demons of addiction, these demons of mental health, these demons of getting out and the pressure of fighting in front of 50,000 people and what that does to somebody.
“Here’s a guy who has gone through it all, hit rock bottom, but the best part about Mark Kerr is that, like all of us in this room and all these fighters, these warriors, is that everyday, we get up and we want to do a little bit better tomorrow than we did today.”
Kerr was considered to be the best fighter in the world during his MMA career from 1997 – 2009, as well as being a two-time UFC heavyweight champion.
Fury, meanwhile, is heavily into his fitness after an incredible 10-stone weight loss that got him back to the pinnacle of boxing.

Fury’s dad John, 57, wants to KO Mike Tyson and claims he’s in better shape than icon despite ‘looking fat as a pig’

JOHN FURY has revealed he wants to KO Mike Tyson – even claiming he’s in better shape than the ripped boxing legend.Iron Mike, 55, was subject to much speculation before his fight against Roy Jones Jr.
John Fury reckons he’d KO Mike Tyson thanks to his healthier lifestyle

Mike Tyson got himself into great shape ahead of his fight with Roy Jones Jr
One fight he was linked with was against Tyson Fury’s dad – with John even calling out the American and saying he was ‘willing to DIE’ to beat him.
And Fury Snr revealed last June that while he may have looked ‘as fat as a pig’, he would win because he’s ‘lived cleaner’.
Tyson weighed in at a lean, mean 17st after a stunning body transformation as he prepared to step back into the ring.
Shannon Briggs and reigning WBA champion Tyson Fury himself were also linked with a Tyson scrap.
But he’s no match for 18st 7lbs John Fury – who named his world heavyweight champion son after Iron Mike – according to the man himself.
John said: “Listen, I’d like to have a go. You know, at the end of the day, I named my son after him, it would be a good thing.

“But I know one thing, he’ll be in no better shape than me.
“I tell you what it is, I’ve got the edge in shape because I’ve lived better, I’ve lived cleaner.
“Tyson, yeah, he was a great, great champion, probably one of the best there’s ever been.
“If anyone is going to come close to beating Tyson [Fury] in this era, that’s him.
“Mike Tyson has got a better chance than Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua at 53 years old.”
John Fury continued by saying he was eager to get into the ring with Tyson – and warned the former champ not to be fooled by his figure.
He continued: “But listen I’d like to have a go, because I’m big and strong and game and that’s all you need to be.
“He’s past his best. And me? The edge I’ve got is I’ve lived right.
    “I don’t drink, don’t smoke, I don’t do things I shouldn’t do and I train every day.
“Listen, we’re not body beautifuls. I look as fat as a pig but I can run ten miles – no problem, today.
“And I’m training all the time, and I’m fit and strong and game. And I’ve got a good heart.
“So if he knocks me out he knocks me out, but I’ll try and knock him out, let’s put it that way.
“I’ll give my all. I’ll do the very best I can. I won’t be afraid to get in the ring, I won’t be beat before I’ve started. I’m going to give it my best shot.”
John went on to say that, with some coaching from son Tyson and his team, he’d happily step into the ring against TWO Iron Mikes.
    Fury Snr, now 57, continued: “I’m 18st 7lbs, I’m 55-years-old but I’m in great shape.
“Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t take nothing I shouldn’t do and I eat very, very well.
I’d get in with TWO Mike Tysons!John Fury
“Plus I’ve got him [Tyson Fury] to train me. I’ve got the best son in the world…
“And if I start sparring with him, and big Shane and my Hughie and Tommy, I’ve got a good chance of beating anybody with that kind of backing.
“With that kind of team, I’d get in with two Mike Tysons!”

Tyson Fury ‘MANIPULATED’ scales at weigh-in for Wilder fight claim expert onlookers and actually LIGHTER than last time

TYSON FURY has been accused of ‘manipulating’ the scales during his weigh-in with Deontay Wilder to hide his true weight. The Gypsy King took to the scales with his American rival late last night ahead of their Las Vegas trilogy fight on Sunday morning.
Tyson Fury weighed in at 277lbs for his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder – but was carrying extra weight
The Brit weighed in three stone heavier than Wilder, who tipped the scales at 238lbs
But David Haye and Steve Bunce believe The Gypsy King hid his true weightCredit: BT SPORT
Fury, who didn’t shed any of his clobber, tipped the scales at 277lbs, while Wilder weighed a career-heavy 238lbs.
But former heavyweight champ David Haye reckons his fellow Brit kept his gear on to keep his real weight a secret.
During BT Sport’s live coverage of the weigh-ins, the Hayemaker said: “You can’t take anything from Tyson Fury’s weigh-in there.
“He had his trainers, hat, his trackies, he could’ve had money in his pocket.
“His wallet, phone, you don’t know. what he’s got in his pocket.”
He added: “It’s manipulation. He said he wanted to come in at 300lbs, that’s what he said. He’s turned up and he’s heavy.”

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
Boxing pundit Steve Bunce agreed with Haye, and pointed out that if correct, Fury and Wilder are closer in weight than in any of their three fights.
He said: “I’m not buying Tyson Fury’s weight.
“He had his trainers on. [And] as David said, a really expensive-looking hat.
“He had on his full kit, he obviously had his phone or something in his pocket.
“It says 19st 11lbs, but I think he was probably closer to about 19st 3/4 or 5lbs.
“That means he’s had a bit of a meal this afternoon or this morning.
“Because he looked good. He looked good.”
You can’t take anything from Tyson Fury’s weigh-in there.David Haye
Big Daddy Bunce added: “According to those weights, this is the least amount of weight advantage that Tyson Fury has had now in the three fights.
“The first fight, he was 44lbs heavier, the second fight he was 42lbs heavier and I calculate he’s 39lbs heavier this time.
“But, he’s not. If you take 9lbs of that away, that means they’re down to within two stone of each other.”
Fury is brimming with confidence having stopped Wilder in seven rounds last time out and is eyeing an even better performance in their second Sin City showdown.
He said: “This means totally obliteration of a dosser, total annihilation.
“Two hundred and seventy-seven pounds, I’m going to put him the royal infirmary after this.
How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight

Their first fight in 2018 ended in a controversial draw as many argued the Gyspsy King deserved the win before getting his hand raised two years later.
Paris attended her husband’s most recent fight with the American bruiser and shared a photo of her embracing him after the final bell on Instagram.
She opened up about the challenges of being a “boxing wife” as she claims the day of the fight is always so stressful that she feels “totally sick”.
Paris posted: “We’re here in Las Vegas and we’re starting to get ready for Tyson’s big fight with Deontay Wilder on Saturday.
“The lead up to a big fight is always a pretty nerve-wracking time but it’s a big moment and I’d always rather be sitting ringside and watching with the family rather than watching at home on TV.

“I know coming out to Vegas sounds incredibly glamorous but being a ‘boxing wife’ on match day is a weird mix of being surrounded by a huge buzz and feeling totally sick – it’s so hard to watch your husband go through it – but I know being in the ring is what Tyson loves.
“Choosing an outfit for ringside and getting ready is always a big part of it for me, usually mix of high street and something a bit special is my usual look – I’ve brought quite a few options over with me so I can decide on the day.
“The main thing is I’m there to support Tyson and one of the things I do is eat the same breakfast as him on the morning of the fight so he doesn’t have to see me eating a bacon sandwich while he has his porridge!
“There’s loads more on what it’s like leading up to a huge fight like this in Love and Fury, my book coming 28th October.”

TYSON FURY knew Lawrence Okolie would go on to become world champion after they shared rounds of sparring together. So much so that Fury, who hired the cruiserweight to prepare for Deontay Wilder before their original 2018 fight, reassured him of it.

That is despite Okolie being mentored and managed by the Gypsy King’s long-time rival Anthony Joshua.
The now-WBO champion was invited into Fury’s Los Angeles training camp to mimic 6ft 7in Wilder, and left being hailed as one to watch out for.
Okolie, 28, told SunSport: “That trip there, it really boosted my confidence and belief even further.
“I was in there with someone I knew was a legitimate heavyweight championship-level fighter.
“I’ve been in there with AJ, but we’re friends, so being in there with someone who is not my friend, but is respected as a boxer and getting off good work, I left there with confidence.
“They were even telling me in the camp back then, ‘Oh mate, you’re destined to be a world champion’.
“And I’m just happy I proved them and everyone else right.”

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
Fury, 33, who first drew to Wilder, 35, but won their 2020 rematch, saw his prediction reign true in March.
Okolie knocked out Polish southpaw Krzysztof Glowacki, 35, in round six of his crowning night.
The Londoner, who was inspired to box watching AJ in the 2012 Olympics while working at McDonald’s, now has his eye on unifications.
And Latvia’s IBF champion Mairis Briedis, 36, who pushed Oleksandr Usyk, 34, all the way in 2018, is top of his list.
He said: “It’s mainly whoever I can get, you can’t focus on one person because they can lose a fight, or someone else could come up.
“But he would be my No1 choice, purely because he’s ranked No1 and I don’t like being around someone that’s ranked above me.
“It’s like no, I won a world title not to mess around, I won a world title to fight anybody, so why not go to the No1?
“I believe I’m the No1, and there’s not a cruiserweight that could beat me, but I have to go out there and show it for real.”

Before returning to the ring, Okolie has teamed up with his former employers McDonald’s launch a new Plan for Change.
