Watford fighter Courtenay missed the 118lb limit by 2.5lbs at the weigh-ins on Friday, which saw her WBA title stripped on the scales in the process.
Courtenay, 28, explained coming on her period was the reason she missed weight, having apparently been spot on with it all week.
On Saturday night – wearing a huge knee brace – she was unable to assert her authority in the ring and was thoroughly outboxed by a very game Mitchell.
Despite the one-sided nature of the fight, Courtenay looked shocked as her opponent was announced the winner.
Moments later, the dismayed fighter said: “I thought I won the fight, I landed the much heavier shots.
“I don’t see how I lost, but I have to pay respect to her, she’s now world champion.

“That belt ain’t gonna be on her waist for long.
“I’ve got a rematch and I’m gonna get it back.”
Mitchell, 36, was equally bullish after earning her strap.
The new champ roared: “She said she would take me to deep waters and drown me.
“She took me to deep waters and I swam like an Olympian.”
If Courtenay had won she would not have been crowned world champion because of missing weight.

Deontay Wilder warns Tyson Fury ‘hasn’t seen him at 100%’ after past injuries as he calls himself ‘warrior’ and ‘king’

DEONTY WILDER insists rival Tyson Fury ‘hasn’t seen 100 per cent’ of him ahead of Saturday’s trilogy fight in Las Vegas. The American says Fury has only faced him when he’s either got an injury, or when something else is wrong with him.

He told 78SPORTSTV: “Tyson Fury gave me the best of him. But he hasn’t seen 100 per cent of me, no-one has.
“I’ve always came in with injuries or something wrong with me. Some say, ‘Well, why did you do that?’ I’m a warrior.
“I’m a king, you’re a peasant. We are not equal.”
Along with blaming injury or something else that might be going wrong with him, Wilder continues to insist Fury is a cheat.
The 35-year-old has accused Fury of tampering with his gloves.
And Wilder has complained AGAIN ahead of Saturday’s fight about Fury’s gloves, which have horse hair inside of them.

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
On Friday, Wilder’s team raised concerns with the Nevada State Athletic Commission over Fury’s gloves.
Wilder claims if Fury pushes and squeezes his gloves together, it will reduce the amount of padding.
The NASC official tried to ease Wilder’s concerns by letting him wear the same gloves, or choose another pair.
Wilder opted to wear a pair of Everlast MX’s, which he says he’s used to break ‘eye sockets’.
Tensions flared between the two camps backstage before Friday’s weigh-in.
A rattled Wilder team member told Shane Fury: “H** ass boy, you ain’t gonna do s***.

Deontay Wilder complains about Tyson Fury’s gloves AGAIN and forces inspectors to cut them open to prove point

DEONTAY WILDER has complained about rival Tyson Fury’s gloves AGAIN ahead of Saturday’s trilogy fight in Las Vegas. WBC heavyweight champ Fury has been accused of cheating multiple times by Wilder after their 2020 rematch fight.

One of the accusations included Fury’s gloves being tampered with.
On Friday, Wilder’s team raised concerns with the Nevada State Athletic Commission over Fury’s gloves having horse hair in them.
Wilder claims if Fury pushes and squeezes his gloves together, it will reduce the amount of padding.
Wilder told 78SportsTV: “We had a little situation with the gloves.
“I already got word of some funny stuff going on in the back of the gloves.
“When I got into the room I immediately asked about the gloves and was telling them about certain things that happened in the first event with his gloves being funny, how they were bending and folding, even showing certain clips of it.

BETTING SPECIAL: GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH
“They [NASC officials] said they’ve been around boxing 25, 30 years, everybody feels since they’ve been around it they are some type of expert.
“But if you haven’t put a glove on and hit someone in the face to understand what type of damage it could do, or how mechanically a glove can work, it’s 25, 30 years down the toilet.
“You can cut open a glove all day and look inside and still not know what’s going on.
“What happened was Fury’s glove that he’s chosen, which is the same thing he had last time, had little to no padding.
“The rest of it was horse hair, we thought horse hair was illegal and out of the question but they said it was [OK], so we said cool.
“They opened up my glove and my glove padding is at least two to three inches thick.
“His glove looks like they’ve already been used, already folded, bended, like they’ve been thrown in the trash and got back out and say, ‘we’re gonna reuse these’.
Wilder claims Fury cheated his way to victory in the 2020 rematchCredit: EPA
“My argument was that this is not enough padding in these gloves.
“They [NASC officials] were trying to convince me the horse hair in the gloves makes up for everything because the horse hair is actually harder than the foam.
“I was telling them they were wrong because the thing about the horse hair is that over time the horse hair can spread, and if it spreads the horse hair gets thinner, that way you only feel that small padding that’s under the horse hair.
“The man [the NASC official] tried to go on and explain the lining [on the glove] means it [the horse hair] can’t go anywhere.
“Of course it can’t go down but it can go left to right in the pad. I started to explain to him of course it can’t go down but it can go left to right.
“You can just put your hands together and the horse hair will start to expand [separate], so now you’ll just have a fist [in your glove], a top secret weapon.
“I was trying to educate him [the NASC official] on it. One of the guys was trying to say the gloves bend at a 90 degree angle. I had to take my glasses off and look at him so they knew I was real.”
Fury says Wilder’s mind games won’t workCredit: EPA
The NASC official tried to ease Wilder’s concerns by letting him wear the same gloves, or choose another pair.
Wilder opted to wear a pair of Everlast MX’s, which he says he’s used to break ‘eye sockets’.
The 35-year-old continued: “As I started explaining more and we got into it more they said, ‘if you want to be on the same playing field you can wear the same gloves or get another selection of gloves’.
“I said, ‘OK, let me get my [Everlast] MX’.
“Everybody knows about the MX, those are puncher’s gloves, when they first came out I was breaking eye socks, breaking wrists, I even broke my hand a couple of times but I think my hand wraps were too tight and I have so much power that all that force was going in one place and cracking my own hands.
“So I went back to my old MX to be on fair playing ground.
“We got it all situated. We’re back at it, I’m very happy with what’s going on with the gloves.
Wilder told Fury to ‘f*** your momma’Credit: GETTY IMAGES
“Since they want little to no padding in the gloves, we’re going to have the same thing and may the best man win.”
From what started out as friendly competitors who both had a bone to pick with Anthony Joshua, has since turned very sour.
The pair had a slanging match in a corridor backstage ahead of Friday’s weigh-in.
Wilder told Fury: “F*** your momma. F*** your momma.”
Members from both camps also went at it with Tyson’s younger brother Shane Fury calling someone a ‘dwarf’.
A rattled Wilder team member told Shane: “H** as boy, you ain’t gonna do s***.
    “I’ll smack the f*** out you boy. You a h**. You’re momma a h** too boy.

Tyson, who is set to face Deontay Wilder tonight, will be unforgiving if Tommy loses
The younger Fury brother appears to be on a collision cause with Paul, with Frank Warren revealing that negotiations are well underway.
Tyson, 33, recently said that Tommy would have to ‘change his name’ if he were to lose to Paul.
And that’s not all, with Big John telling talkSPORT: “Tommy is over there [in Las Vegas] giving his support [to Tyson]. He’s got his own thing that’s going to be going on shortly with this Jake Paul fella.
“Tyson said if Jake Paul beats him, he’s got to change his name because of some stupid stuff – which he should do! If he can’t beat Jake Paul I’ll smash him to bits with a bamboo stick myself.
“Tyson, his brother, said ‘right, we’ll kick the s*** out of you as well!’ [if he doesn’t win]. So, no pressure [laughs].”
Tyson himself had told Boxing Social: “If Tommy can’t splatter Jake Paul, I’ll retire him from boxing myself.

“He’s got ambitions of being a world champion, never mind beating some YouTube guy… His name’s Fury. If he can’t beat Jake Paul, I’ll have to change his name.”
Paul himself has upped the stakes even further, by challenging Fury to a potentially embarrassing £368,000 ($500,000) wager.
The Problem Child said: “Here’s my response to Tyson Fury.
If you lose, you have to change your last name for one year to Tommy Fumbles. Deal or no dealJake Paul
“He just said that if his little brother Timmy Fury loses to me that he will make him quit boxing and he’s going to have to change his last name.
“He will no longer be allowed to be a Fury. So you know me, I’m a betting man. I like to make bets. So, I’m putting my money up right now.
“Tommy, if you beat me I will give you an extra $500,000.
“However, if you lose, you have to change your last name for one year to Tommy Fumbles. Deal or no deal? I’m putting the money up. Are you confident?”

The Brit amazingly recovered from what appeared to be a brutal knockout blow back in their first fight in December 2018 to earn a controversial draw.
He then destroyed his American foe back in February 2020 to claim the WBC title – with Wilder providing a host of excuses and allegations of cheating afterwards.
More fireworks are set to explode later, and TMZ Sports claims ‘a TON of celebs’ are set to hit Sin City to witness it.
Silverscreen actors Vince Vaughn, Michael B. Jordan and Michael J. Fox will be ringside.
NBA basketball stars Draymond Green and Damian Lillard will also be there along with disgraced cycling legend Lance Armstrong.
Rappers Fat Joe and Nas, TV star Mario Lopez and chef Wolfgang Puck are also both due to be near the front row for the fight.

Meanwhile boxers Shakur Stevenson and Terence Crawford will be watching their peers settle their differences between the ropes for the last time.
Fury and Wilder will both earn a minimum of £18million for their Las Vegas trilogy fight.
It’s understood Fury and Wilder’s disclosed purses – which will be released by the Nevada Athletic Commission later this week – will be £4.4million ($6m) and £2.9m ($4m) respectively.
But the duo are already contractually guaranteed a minimum of £18m for the third showdown.
Fury, however, is set to take home the lion’s share of the pot due to the 60/40 split in place.
Both men’s purses, however, will be topped up by their respective cuts of the pay-per-view buys.

Tension between both teams rose, with Shane Fury getting into it with a member of Wilder’s team.
Shane said: “You with the b****es haircut. F*** you. I’ll tell you what a fat boy will do to you, rip you to pieces you p*****.”
Brother Shane – who is manning the ship in dad John Fury’s absence – clearly didn’t take too kindly to the ‘momma’ jokes.
The 28-year-old branded Wilder’s team a ‘classless piece of rubbish’.
A rattled Wilder team member then threatened to ‘smack the f***’ out of brother Shane.

Wilder and his team have accused Fury of cheating his way to victory in their second fight back in 2020.
You’re as dwarf, walk on, tough guy. Just walk on.Shane Fury
And the American believes the Brit is preparing to cheat again on Saturday in Las Vegas.
He told 78SPORTSTV: “You think he ain’t gonna try to cheat this time?
“Oh they’re thinking, they’re coming up with a master plan.
“But my thing to him – man, you couldn’t even get me out on loaded gloves and the conditions I was under.
“You couldn’t knock me out, you didn’t knock me out.”
Fury, in no mood to entertain Wilder’s excuses, listed the 35-year-old’s many theories – from glove tampering to spiked water.
An excerpt of the post read: “No excuses… but: Costume was too heavy. Fury’s gloves were loaded.

“I had weak legs. My water was spiked. Fury’s gloves had no padding. Had bicep surgery.

He said: “I just wanted to reach out and wish you good luck on tomorrow night’s fight.
“Not that you need it, you’ve already smashed this guy really properly, and I have no doubt that you’re gonna do it again.
